The Ruby Red Fashion Friends Doll blouse that took ALL day…

DON’T FORGET:
Samantha’s “Victorian Times” Dress set ends Thursday evening on Ebay! If you have missed it, you can click on the picture at the right side bar, or you can click HERE… It will take you to the listing on Ebay!

That’s right, I sewed all day on Violette’s blouse… AND… I’m not even finished with it! Yikes! I’m serious… I’ve been working on this dainty little miniature blouse for Violette since 11:30 this morning! I don’t know how something like this could have taken me that long…

Well, it’s probably because I had to figure out a pattern for it… then the fabric is like tissue paper, so it was crazy fragile and semi-sheer, so that had to be addressed… I wanted the ruffles to be the same on the edge of the collar as they were running down the front of the bodice, so each gather had to be pinned in place before I sewed around each piece… the sleeves ended up being too long and I undid the wrist cuffs 3 times! THREE times!!

I wanted to do some pintucking on the front in between the ruffles, and my twin needle acted up the first 3 times I made a tuck, so that had to be hand picked out… UGH!

The tiny black buttons had to be sewn on just perfectly or the black on the white would really show up if they weren’t spaced correctly… getting a bow tied “just right” takes time too…

I still have to finish the back of the blouse and hem it, but that shouldn’t take too long… (but who knows!!!) :o)

However, when I got all finished and tried it on her for some pictures, I was very pleased and so was Violette… I couldn’t wait to slip on the skirt and see if I had achieved the look I was aiming for. I think I had!

So I had to slip on her red leather purse and check out that pop of color…

So here is the next hint… :o)

Well, I hope you like it…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Jeanne, I LOVE the detailing on this blouse! You whole day was NOT in vain!! I see that the ruffles are the perfect size for Violette, and love the way they dance down the sleeves! The bodice of the blouse is just exquisite! Molly would love this outfit, also Susan, Ruthie, Ivy, Scarlett, even Betsy too!

What makes makes this outfit look so good is the perfection in the crisp pleats, that match, and go all the way aorund, the perfect lining of the buttons, and that pretty bow! It looks like it was sewn with care, and it was, only like you can do!

The red purse gives it a pop of color, just the perfect thing. I’m thinking this does not need a jacket or vest, since it would cover up all those pretty tucks and ruffles. Maybe something red for her head?

    Black leather! Shoes, boots?

  2. Love love LOVE that blouse!! Absolutely SO much better than I could have envisioned!! I feel your pain when it comes to picking out the pintucks, and the problems with the double needle, and the sleeves….Yikes! But so totally worth it. I was thinking one ruffle down the center front, and possibly a ruffled cuff on the sleeves, but this is so much better. I just love all the details!! Next…a vest, maybe? or a jacket?

BTW, I see that Samantha’s outfit is up to SEVEN bids now! I may have to pull out my computer tomorrow afternoon and watch the last-minute bidding excitement!!

Holy cow. Looks like three times was the charm, Jeanne. Lovely blouse. Just lovely. The only thing that bothers me is that bow. I think it is too stiff and would go with something like a black floppy satin or rayon tape for it, but that is me. A most remarkable blouse. Having the skirt open up all the way in the back gets huge applause here as it creates smoothness and ease of donning. The buttons on the yoke are perfect. Magnetic closure on the purse makes the flap behave. Wonderful outfit! I’m hoping for black boots…
Good luck on the Samantha set.
Barbara, please send a picture of your new serger and desk once you have it set up. You must be walking on clouds.
Happy first day of autumn, sofa sisters.

Yikes it is the first day of Autumn. Hard to tell here, but it does mean we are getting closer to cooler weather. I will definitely send pictures when I get my serger all set up. It’s almost like having a second sewing machine it can do so much that I normally do with the sewing machine.

Oh, the blouse is just lovely! Now, I’m picturing it with a full length black velvet skirt for the holidays. So versatile.
Will Violette have black knee socks and black Mary Jane’s with a higher heel to wear with her skirt and blouse set? Looking forward to the main feature. 🙂

  5. Not only do I like it! I love it!❤️ You outdid yourself. The detail is so perfect and it looks awesome with the skirt. Can’t wait to see what you add next.

Dear Jeanne, the blouse is so pretty. I know that all of the little girls in this house would love to have one just like it.

I am guessing that shoes will come next since you have officially hung out your cobbler’s sign (smile).

I love this outfit. The blouse is pure perfection and goes perfectly with the skirt. Like the buttons and bow embellishments too. I love Joy’s idea of a long, black velvet skirt for the holidays. Can’t wait to see the rest of the outfit but I agree that you don’t want anything that would take away from that beautiful blouse.

You will not believe the trouble we are having getting windows for our addition. We finally found some at a place in Kansas but they won’t ship them to us because they are concerned about damage. So, David and Sean will be making a trip to Wichita to pick them up. We used to make that trip quite often when David’s parents were alive but haven’t gone that way in years. Fortunately it’s pretty much a straight shot from here – and a good excuse for David to take his new truck on the road..

  8. The blouse is perfect… peter pan collar and lots of ruffles! It really dresses up the skirt.
Black leather mary janes are next I’m guessing.

I forgot to mention that I heard from Magalie yesterday and she is now painting my LD Amelia Dawn. She should be here in about two weeks. I also just ordered the new L’il Dreamer Ashlynn with wardrobe done by Magalie.

The outfit is just lovely Jeanne, you are such a perfectionist.
We hope to have the carpet down in the sleepouts tomorrow and then Jono can move into his unit. Then I can have my workroom back I can hardly wait. Kai can’t move into hers yet, although the power is on it is still running off our old switchboard, the main power supplier can’t upgrade the new, heavier cable to the street until 31 Oct so still have to monitor how much power we use or we overload the system. Jono will be using exactly the same amount as he used to use before so he is ok but we can’t add Kai in as she will be using more, in particular the heat pump. Still it is one step nearer to getting my house back to something like normal.
.Looking forward to seeing your outfit completed Jeanne. Meanwhile I will enjoy the spring blossom and flowers Yayy
