HI everyone,
Ingrid won the drawing the other day when it was my 8th Anniversary of writing this blog. Her name was picked out by my hubby and she received her gift today… so I can show you what I made and sent her…
She got one of my Brownies in a Jar! My picture is a little drab looking… the fabric was a bit brighter than it appears… but it’s really the taste that matters and these brownies are the best! I’ve made dozens and dozens and dozens of these as gifts and Ingrid said it was almost too pretty to eat, BUT she did LOVE brownies… so not to worry… :o)
Also, if you missed her comment yesterday, you’ll have to go back and read it… I’m talking about the “microwave mess” part… Poor Ingrid and her hubby… and mom and dad too…
Here is a link to a previous post where I show how I make these brownies in a jar…
Here is a post where I was working on some Christmas ones…
Okay, now let’s see what I’ve got for you today…
I redid the boot socks and actually made a pair of socks that slip on the foot and then I added a piece of vintage crocheted or tatted lace to the top edge. I suppose you could leave it up and put on the boot or fold it down if you like…
Still didn’t get that heel put on the boots yet… but I will…
Since it’s almost school time, I decided to make her a book bag or a messenger bag in a crossover style from the same leather as her boots.
Rozen is pretty excited and hopes I make some “school books” to put in her new bag…
When I drafted the pattern for this style, I thought I was making it plenty big, almost like a satchel, but it sure didn’t turn out as big as I was thinking… oh well…
Well, that was my Friday, (with helping at the Food Pantry thrown in the mix!) I hope you had a nice day! Ready for the weekend? Me too!
See you Monday!
Blessings, Jeanne
Congrats again to Ingrid for winning the prize! After all the kerfuffle with your folks and the microwave, I think you Need some chocolate!!
Ron’s mother was kind of like that (although she didn’t have a microwave, that I recall). Dear lady, but when she started having health issues, the family got her one of those emergency buttons to wear around her neck–all she had to do was press the button and help would come when she wasn’t feeling well! What did she do the first few times? She called US first to see if she should push the button!! 🙄 We’d say, “Just push the button, mom, and They will call us!! It took her a while, but she finally did what she was supposed to do!
I like these socks much better Jeanne, and, yes, that is hand-crocheted lace that you used. I like that the lace can be worn up or down–nice to have a choice! And the socks look wonderful with her boots!
I also like her messenger bag–maybe not quite big enough for her book bag, but it works perfectly for her purse. I remember taking my purse to school when I was in 7th grade, for sure, and possibly earlier, but probably 7th–junior high, you know, and I had to look grown up!!
Sally, I did answer your questions more thoroughly yesterday, but to recap: Fair is this month, and the new Siblie Gigi is cute (but I doubt I’ll be awake at 7a.m. to pre-order her!). I preferred the Ten Ping one, but….
Today’s socks are even better than yesterday’s. The purse is great — is the strap a bit long? I really like the strong fall colors, and I think I’ve changed my mind on the headscarf, at least for Rozen. I wonder what this outfit would look like on Frieda. How’s your weather? Will outdoor pictures be possible?
Well, I lost my whole comments a few minutes ago, so here goes again! I agree with Marilyn, those socks are better than the ones from yesterday. Very cute!
The book bag is another perfect item for this outfit! I do remember being in the first grade and my mother MADE me wear my purse the way we do now with cross-body bags, and I had a fit because it didn’t look “grown up!🤣. It was to keep me from losing my purse, like I seemed to do on more than one occasion! Well, to this day every time I see an adult wearing their purses like that, to me, it must be so they don’t want to lose them! I still refuse to wear my purse like that……I’m a grown-up!😂
Now, what about something for her hair? She needs a bit of “something” up there!
As for as our weather, ha, ha! Wet, hot and steamy is what it is! Too bad we don’t have pretty fall colors yet to pose this outfit with.
Linda, I always wear my purses cross-body these days. I have Such narrow shoulders, my strap kept slipping off! It’s bad enough that I’m constantly tugging at my bra straps, dragging them back onto my nonexistent shoulders, but to have my purse fall of is a hole ‘nother thing!! LOL
Oops, that should be WHOLE ‘nother thing! Arrrggh!!
First, Jeanne. These socks are ever so much better and folding the lace down over the boot softens that whole look. I actually bought a few pairs of LD boots from Stanislav in Russia a few years back that had the crocheted lace around the top. They are wonderful. The purse is perfect and the long strap means it can probably be a cross shoulder strap? For the head, make a stretchy headband? It’s looking SO cute. And big thanks for that brownie in a jar recipe. I am going to make a few of those up to have on hand. Yum!
Cheryl. Malin really scored with that dress and your buttons. Excellent choice of buttons! Congratulations on great finds for your sweet girl and many thanks for sharing.
Ingrid, I am sure supper happy you won that prize. What a bewildering saga that was about the microwave(s)! You guys are the BEST “children “ anyone could have. God bless you both for being so dear and patient. Oy. Have another brownie, you need it!
Charlotte, I saw all your comments. Is this a state fair? I remember growing up in VT that our state fairs in Rutland were over Labor Day. Sounds like the tradition continues. I loved going. Are you entering anything or denied because of being a judge? Well, I know this excites you, and I would be excited, too. Sorry you missed that Ten Ping on eBay, but my eyes popped out of my head when I saw she went for over $370. OY! I was planning to go for Gigi and probably will. This house is crawling with Rubies. And I love them all. Thanks so much for your time to answer the questions. I hope you DO get up in time for Gigi’s big sister and hope a Ten Ping comes your way that is reasonable.
Wishing all a wonderful weekend.
Ingrid, not only was I “supper” happy, I was also SUPER happy! This iPad is so old that typing is getting ultra tricky. It has a mind of its own, and not a very good mind, at that. 🫤
Sally, yes, it’s called the Evergreen State Fair, and is held in Monroe, WA. (There is also the Puyallup Fair, which is called a State Fair, too–it’s further south of us and more of a trek for me, but is where our much-loved Sewing Expo is held every winter!)
I know–Ten Ping Siblie stayed at about $150 for the longest time, and then, kapow! Out of the park, for price!
I looked tonight, and Gigi is still available, so I ordered her!! I did I did!! 💖
Had to go back to yesterday and read Ingrid’s microwave episode. What an ordeal. Really hope that a house comes up that your mother likes. Without snakes I might add. 🙂 You guys deserve a break.
Jeanne’s new socks are adorable with the boots. Love the cotton. It looks like the purse, which is so cute, could easily have the strap adjusted if someone wants to shorten it.
On to laundry and weekend. Have fun everyone. 🙂
I would want to carry that leather purse back to school or anywhere! Very cute outfit for that time between summer and autumn.
What a story Ingrid! And what a good natured husband, he literally went the extra mile.
I hope all of you that wanted GIgi Siblie were able to get her.
Sally, I will be looking for the new Talia version but for now my cup runneth over with dolls. ☺️
Dear, sweet Debbie…not to worry; you have, according to Derf, 2-4 months before Talia #2 comes to light. 🙌🤪
Dear Jeanne, I love the socks. I like that the tops can be worn up or down.
I also love the purse.
I don’t have a doll this size. If this were for a Little Darling, my girls would be jumping up and down and pointing to the computer screen (laugh).
268 days until May (sigh). I will have to distract myself by looking at pictures of dolls on ebay (laugh). Hopefully I won’t buy any, well maybe just one (smile).
Dear , wonderful Dorothy. Please don’t limit yourself to one doll. That is going to make May seem like a too long wait. Spend that time anticipating a new doll every now and again. Time will go faster. There is no doubt in my mind that there are so many “children “ out there that would just love to come to live with you and do tea parties. We BOTH know that.
Carry on and have a lovely August day. ❤️🎈🎂🫖☕️
Dear Sally, you make me laugh.
Okay, I am going to start the “Waiting For May” Doll Account on Go Fund Me, or whatever that site is called. That way I can buy a doll a month until May. That is 10 dolls! Or is it 9?
My days will be filled anticipating which doll to choose. My nights will be filled dreaming of each doll arriving home safely. Ahhh, what joy!
Each month, I can send Jeanne a photo of the beloved new doll and she can post the photo so the Aunties on the sofa can see her. (I generally only buy girl dolls. I do have Chatty Cathy’s baby brother, though, left over from my childhood. I also had Ricky, Jr., from I Love Lucy, but he degenerated years ago.)
But I digress. Yes, I think this is a marvelous idea.
Hmmm, I wonder if that site would actually let me collect funds to satisfy my doll wishes. Maybe I should just play the lottery (laugh).
Now thinking of dolly tea parties…
I’m back Hi Dorothy, That is too funny. August is not over so that would be ten dolls. Seriously though, I’ve seen some GoFundMe requests for house things (windows, floors, roofs, furniture) to buy some toys and send me on vacation and people give to all of those, so you never know.
Dolly tea parties sound great. I like to have kitty ones here. I have tea and cake or cookies and the kitties have catnip tea, bits of chicken, and kitty treats. =^-^=
Dear Laura, well if that is the case, I am going to amend my request to say, “Go Fund Me for a sojourn in Paris.” I could certainly purchase a doll a month there.
I better practice my French. Ooo, la, la. quelle bonne idée!
Thank you for the info on the printer, Barbara, I’ll still might consider that one for certain things and use my current HP for photos.
Oh, Ingrid, what a microwave mess you have had. I think you and hubby should eat the entire pan of brownies. I hope a house comes up soon that your mom likes
Rozen’s socks are perfect now. The bookbag is very cute I really like the royal and burnt orange combination.
Dear Jeanne and Sofa Sisters, I wanted to let you know that Martha Boers, Canadian doll maker and photographer, is selling four of her Kaye Wiggs dolls.
