Want to see some World Doll Day pictures?

June 11th was World Doll Day and I hope everyone was able to spend some time with their dolls that day. Thanks to Dorothy for reminding us and giving us those links to study up on the “holiday!” It’s kind of fun to have a holiday for the things we love…our dolls.

I asked if anyone had any pictures to share and I received some and wanted to share them…

First up is Paula and some of her dolls… (Thanks for sharing about the AG furniture! The RRFF really do fit perfectly with it!

Good morning Jeanne, if you need something for your post sometime, I wanted to show you and the sofa girls how the American Girl furniture works well with the Ruby Red Fashion Friend girls. I did not try them with some of the chairs and I don’t have an AMG kitchen or living room set, like sofa’s etc. , so I can’t compare those. I actually think the furniture I have fits the RRFF’s better than the American Girls dolls.
I’ve renamed the RRFF girls who are demonstrating the size comparisons.
I forget Stella’s new name – she really loves the Molly’s bed I recently got. When I have time, I have a complete set of Molly’s bed I got some time ago, so the sisters, Dana ( Kayla) and her little sister Gigi or Bridget (Sydney) will share.
It’s been fun having a bit of time in the doll room.
Thank you! Paula

Next up is Debbie (from North Carolina) It’s SO nice to finally put a face to your name! What a very sweet picture! :o)

This is what she wrote me…
Hi Jeanne,
On World Doll Day you suggested a photo with a favorite doll. I have a number of dolls but none of them make me as happy as Kirsten. This is my 1996 Pleasant Company Kirsten wearing your original design “Swedish Sweetness”. I love everything about this dirndl, the pink dotted swiss bodice, the soft floral print dress, and the delicate vintage lace apron.

I was introduced to Kirsten in 1991 by my friend Jan. When Allyson was 7 she was gifted Kirsten for her birthday. We staged a tea party for Kirsten and Jan’s Samantha to celebrate. We set the table using Kirsten’s quilt and Ginny’s tea set.

I made the apron and spoon bag when Allyson dressed as Kirsten for storybook day. Apparently I baked pies too back then. We still have the lazy Susan table made for Rick’s grandmother in the 1940’s.

Next up is a sweet picture of Linda G. from Minnesota.

She wrote this to me…
Dear Jeanne,
This is a fun memory for me of a Doll’s Tea Party. Oldest Granddaughter had just been given her American Girl doll, Julie, and came to stay with me… and we played dolls for days! China tea cups for us and the dolls, flowers, candles and butter cookies, all wearing princess dresses in 2008! Granddaughter is now a Junior in college, studying Ocean Engineering! I sent each of the Grands a photo of them and their doll! Celebrating on Memory lane!

Kathie sends dolly greetings to all the Sofa Sisters! These are wonderful pictures of your dolls Kathie, (and YOU!)

Well, that’s what I received… if you did something fun on World Doll Day or just stayed home and dressed your dolls in something new, please share any pictures you took…

Thanks ladies,
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

First of all, I see that Fireworks Frenzy already has three bids!! Yippee! Maybe there will be a bidding frenzy???

Oh, how wonderful to see pictures of so many lovely dolls! Thanks, Paula, for showing us how well the RRFF dolls work with the AG furniture. The only AG furniture I have is Kirsten’s–her bed and trunk plus that little washstand that goes with it, and I think the table and two chairs. We had a gal come into the doll shop where I worked (about 20 years ago), wanting to sell some things, so I bought her furniture and a couple of other things, too. I should get them out again and play!

Debbie, so nice to see your smiling face, and your Kirsten, as well as your daughter dressed as Kirsten. What fun!!

Linda, your doll tea party with your granddaughter looks like such fun! Wish mine lived close enough to have done that also (she will be 15 next month). Nice to see your smiling face, also!!

Kathie, thanks for sharing your collection with us (and Your smiling face, too–nice to know who we’re “chatting” with!!). I recognize quite a few of your dolls!! Are those Dionne quintuplets in the first picture?

In re: yesterday’s fireworks topic: they are outlawed here, too, but that doesn’t stop some people! And for folks like my husband, who is a Marine vet (Korea in 1952), the fireworks can cause a real problem as it sounds like gunfire and/or certain kinds of bombs!! Ron didn’t have a problem for a long time, but in the last 15 years or so, he’s gotten so he jumps at any and all loud sudden noises.

You should definitely get Kirsten’s things out an play, Charlotte. My daughter chose an interesting mix of historical furniture to get the Little House on the Prairies/pioneer vibe she was after. She had Kirsten’s first table and chairs (the unpainted ones), Addy’s bed with Kirsten’s quilt (that was back when the quilt was sold separately, and Samantha’s desk with Kirsten’s Scenes and Setting surrounding it. She kept the others, but I got Samantha’s desk which I love. Hers is my favorite of all the historical ones, so I’m thrilled it’s now mine.

So sorry about Ron jumping at things. My neighbor, Allan, is a Vietnam vet and he still has to sleep with the bedroom window open after all these years. So sad what war does.

Oh boy, pictures of dolls AND some of our friends here! First, Paula, yes, I do agree that AG furniture works better on the RRFF, and your darling pictures show it well! I see that you have Caroline’s parlor, and it works out just wonderfully for your very well dressed dolls! And Molly’s bed! Of course, I have that bed in Molly’s bedroom, so it is a fovorite of mine, but Molly doesn’t sleep on it, at least not mine! She is too busy doing all her activities, but I do have a room for her.

And Debbie! You look just like I would imagine! Actually, you do even look Swedish when you are posed with your lovely Kirsten! That isa darling outfit, and I remember it well. Lucky you to have won it! It looks like we were very much alike in the way wew played dolls! Your granddaughter is adorable in that outfit! Such a lucky little girl!

Linda G., what a fun grandmother you must be! loved your tea party picture, and all htose beautiful dolls you have! How I would love to visit you and see them all in person! Thank all of you for sending in those wonderful pictures!

It must be too early in the morning for me, but I thought that Linda and Kathie were one and the same, and made a mistake there! So it is Kathie’s array of dolls, not Linda’s ! Mea culpa!

  4. Jeanne, thanks for sharing my pictures. I’d like to set up Molly’s bedroom set with the new bed and take a picture of it with the sisters, Dana and Gigi sharing a bedroom.
Debbie, it’s so nice to meet you and your lovely dressed Kirsten. I remember that outfit. Jeanne’s dirndl’s are beautiful and creative. Lovely pictures of you and Kirsten.
And it’s also nice to meet Linda G. from Minnesota! What fun you must have had at the tea with your granddaughter! What a nice memory for you now that she’s grown up.
And Kathie, what a great group of collectible of dolls. They must bring you great joy as our folks go got all of us. It was nice to see your collection.

Hang in there Jeanne, you’ll be back in your sewing room soon enough.

Loved seeing everyone’s great doll photos. What a nice variety of dolls and sweet grands. 🙂
Survived the 104 temp or there abouts here yesterday as it varied with the location around town. Really didn’t start cooling down until 1:00AM. Surviving without air conditioning is getting old, and the weather has changed so much with global warming making the heat a much more common experience. We used to have coastal fog come in and cool us off, but rarely now. I know others had it hot as well. Today will be slightly cooler so hopefully, I might be able to get that crazy bed I’m redoing further along.
    Keep cool everyone. 🙂

  6. Thanks for posting the Doll Day pictures Jeanne. Paula your blue room for the AG dolls is such a great background…I’d really like a full sized one like it😉 The RRFF are dressed so realistically…they look like real little girls.
Debbie your Kristen is my favorite AG doll too and wearing a favorite outfit. Everything about her outfit is perfect. Granddaughters at that age are so much fun….
Linda you tea party was so detailed and your granddaughter had a great time. Does she look like you at that age?
We do have a good time with our dolls. Yes, Charlotte…those are Dionne babies in the first picture. I must admit having an addiction to them. Always loved their story and pictures. Madame Alexander did so many different ages and sizes of them. My favorite are the molded hair 11” inch ones that represent the Quints at about a year. Thanks again Jeanne😄

  7. it’s so nice to see you new dolls, Paula, and they look just wonderful in Caroline’s parlor. Stella (new name to be remembered) looks quite comfy relaxing on Molly’s bed.
Debbie, so nice to put a face with a name and Kirsten looks so sweet. I love the outfit you made for Allyson. Kirsten was my daughter’s first PC girl as well and she was completely into the Little House and pioneer mindset.
So very nice to see you as well, Linda G. It certainly look s like Kit, Julie, your lovely granddaughter and you had a wonderful tea and some beautiful memories..
So nice to see you as well, Kathie, and what a amazing doll collection you have. I only recognize a couple (an RRFF and a My Meadow) so it was fun to see such a variety.

Thanks to Jeanne for sharing these photos. I love seeing the dolls we love and how we use them to create a display or show off a special outfit.
Paula, yes the RRFF are a great fit in your AG scene. I recognized the ship over the mantle. Linda answered my question, it belonged to Caroline’s collection. Everything in her collection was beautiful.
Linda G. Your tea party is a notch above mine! Your granddaughter looked like a doll herself. I am sure she is a beautiful young women now.
Kathie, I love seeing the variety of dolls that are in your collection. They make such a nice group. You have a representative of so many artists and manufacturers – nice to see.

Thanks to everyone for your comments and to Jeanne for Kirsten’s beautiful dirndl!
