Before I forget, I HAVE to show Joy’s boys all dressed up and looking SO SO handsome! This is Francis and Rory and Luca… aren’t they adorable??? I have Stella’s face covered up so she can’t see Luca… (they kind of have a long-distance thing going on for each other!) :o)
Several of you asked about Reuben when Rebecca came home…well, how’s this for a greeting?
And here is another short 20 second video of them getting “reacquainted!” You should turn up your volume for them! :o)
Okay, now who wants to see what I accumulated this past week and more from Rebecca and my sister, Cindy?
Cindy brought me 3 new purses but I forgot to take pictures of them, and Deb gave me some books but I forgot them too…
Rebecca and Karn are leaving Saturday and I am going to be so sad to see them go… We had the best time shopping and the guys did car and lawn mower stuff… Karn was happy Rebecca had a new shopping buddy this week! :o)
All of our shopping was done at the Goodwill, a new little shop called Unclaimed Treasures, Re-New, and SPIN (Supporting People In Need).
She found lots of things to resell on Poshmark and a few things for herself and Karn.
She brought me a few things too…
She knows her momma’s heart… fabric!
This was my favorite…an Aunt Grace fabric, a reproduction 1930’s print. I love how crisp and clear it’s printed!
The teal fabric has already been “claimed” by Rozen!
Rebecca also brought me these 2 dress forms… in velvet and almost the perfect size for the Ruby Red Fashion Friends… They might be handy for showing slips and/or jackets! :o)
She also brought these things… a clear vintage looking zippered bag, a note pad, some appliques and some really fun “thank you” stickers.
(She uses stickers on her Poshmark packages like I do on my Ebay things…)
Also this little Land’s End tote… dolly sized and a 1943 book on Mending Men’s Clothing.
When we were shopping today, I ran across a bushel basket of fabrics all bundled up… I just had to pick up a few… they were a $1.00/yard!
The blue and white fabric is super thin and soft to the touch… almost like a lawn fabric and the red one is very thin too and has silver threads running through it. I’m not sure what I’ll use it for but it was very pretty and I couldn’t resist! :o) (She smiles again!)
I also found these fabrics in a bundle…
This was the only one I really wanted… it has tiny little bits of silver sparkle in the curly designs of the fabric.
Then I wanted to show this book Cindy brought me last week…It’s called “The Godey Lady Doll” and it has the pattern for making a 10 1/2″ cloth doll and then the patterns for making several dresses. There are even the patterns for making the furniture seen throughout the book. Sometimes it helps to see a pattern when you can’t quite figure out how they made a certain part of the dress… The book was published in 1953.
Here is a picture from the illustrations of the Godey’s Lady book too… I LOVE looking at these kinds of pictures!
Well, I need to get to bed so I can be up and spend a little bit more time with the kids before they leave! I haven’t had a moment to read your comments, so I’ll do that as I wind down in my bed…
See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a fun post, and so much to see and comment on!
Joy, your boys are darling in their matching outfits! They could be pages (Francis and Luca) and ring-bearer (Rory) in a Valentine wedding!
I do think that Reuben was happy–ecstatic!!–to see Rebecca and Karn again! Especially Rebecca–they seem to have a special connection.
Gorgeous fabrics (I can see why Rozen claimed that one), and what fun goodies from Rebecca! I have some of those “vintage Simplicity” things, too, although not Exactly the same ones you have. They are just so much fun, I can’t resist!
What a cool little Land’s End tote! I wonder if it might have been a Christmas ornament from them at some point. Perfect size for dolls!
The books are wonderful, too. I love vintage sewing books, and of course anything to do with making cloth dolls, so those would definitely have been added to my collection, too, if I’d had the chance.
Your other fabrics are wonderful, too. I can see that red fabric as a Christmas dress, perhaps for a Little Darling. And the purples…well, what can I say? I’m a “purple girl”. My favorite is the one that you said has silver sparkles in it.
Well, we went from summer back to winter in 24 hours out here in the Seattle area. We got up in the mid 70s on Thursday, and overnight the temp dropped to 36 and it poured rain. Then today (Friday–I haven’t been to bed yet, remember?! LOL) the temp might have made it to 51, and we alternated between rain, rain/snow mix, hail, and dry bits. Yup, it’s spring in the Seattle area.
Ah ha, you noticed the hearts! Finally, finished the February, holiday outfits. π
Fun post today, Jeanne with something for everyone! I just knew Reuben was going to be SO excited to see Rebecca, and it looks like she was just as excited to see him too!!
Joy, how sweet your three little boys look! How in the world did you get them to stand so still and ready for the camera? π Darling outfits!!
Jeanne, it looks like Christmas in April there with all the wonderful things you bought and received! Rozen looks beautiful with that fabric, and I am sure she is anxiously awaiting a new dress! Love the doll clothes forms too, plus all the pretty fabrics!
I also love that little Lands’ End tote, and yes, it must have been a Christmas tree ornament!
The Lady Godey’s book you have reminds me of my Lady Godey’s Paper doll set! It has beautiful clothes in it. I loved paper dolls and had quite a collection, but so many are now gone. I had saved some from my daughter from when she was small, and still have them. Unfortunately, paper dolls were not a favorite of my granddaughters. π
Just a reminder, Linda G. I replied to you just this morning! I never saw you post until now, for some reason.
Although we are halfway across the country from you, Charlotte, we had the same crazy weather yesterday! Rain, sleet, snow, then sunshine, although it never got above 40 degrees
That’s Spring for you!.
Thanks on the outfits, and when I was about done with the pics, I noticed that little Rory’s tie was very crooked. Little guy had been fooling around I guess, so I had to take a few more. π
Found your comments, Linda.Thank you. I thought I hit the wrong button as they never showed up. Good memories of happy times. Love your dolls and all their adventures.
Joy, your little guys are so handsome! You are a great seamstress.
Jeanne, it’s such fun to open the computer in the morning and find delightful doll clothes, ambitious home remodeling projects or vintage shopping trips. Everyday is different. I don’t comment much but always visit and enjoy the community I find here on the sofa!
It looks like Birthday, Motherβs Day and Christmas all together. What fun to have all your these new treasures. You find the best buys for the nicest fabric.
Good job on dressing your boys Joy!
Have good day, you have had a couple of fun weeks!
Thanks for sharing the Reuben homecoming. So fun. Looks like Karn has added a little something as well. π
What fun shopping treasures. A little something for everyone. Does Poshmark sell vintage clothing too? I haven’t looked there much.
Looks like Rozen has excellent taste. I’d like to see her in the purple and teal fabric as well. So fun to find great fabric at a good price. And those dress forms will be a fun prop for Jeanne’s dress boutique. π
Have a great dolly weekend everyone. π
Dear Joy, what handsome young men you have. They look so well behaved. Have they been introduced to Other Person yet (smile)?
Other person does not do dolls, so no intros. π
Dear Joy, I guess that’s for the best as the little ones might be questioned when you are not around (chuckle).
Lots of treasures to see today. And it was fun to see Lindaβs pictures of Mollyβs birthday party yesterday. The details were wonderful!
Joy, your boys look like nice little gentlemen in their proper little outfits. Very cute. They remind me of boys at a boys school, dressed properly and looking dignified. Love their outfits.
Jeanne, what wonderful items you have. Iβm sure the material finds are most exciting for you. The purple group especially. And the blue print fabric up against Rosen looks like a good match.
What a treasure to have the book from Cindy. That is really unique and very interring. Lots of information in it including how to make the furniture shown!
My favorite item you shared, the plastic bag with the girls on the front. Very cute and useful.
By the way, it was exciting to see all those wonderful pieces of black print material you shared the other day. Loved everyone one of them. The plaids and checks – my favorite.
Also, so happy to see Reuben and his excitement over Rebecca and Karn. It just melts my heart.
Thank you for sharing all these wonderful pictures.
Today will be a sentimental one as the kids return to their home in PA. As a mom, I really understand that feeling of longing for them to stay when you watch them leave. A distraction sometimes helps. Blessings, Jeanne.
Oh, Joy, your boys are just the most dapper looking fellows. I love the little shirts with the hearts and the red bow ties are charming. I do believe the little pup needs a red bow tie as well. π
Reuben looks so happy and I loved his excited little yips.
What wonderful treasures you found, Jeanne. i really like the Godey Lady Doll book. I absolutely love those type of old books and magazines. The plastic bag with the ladies would make a fun make-up pouch. The Lands’ End tote would be cute for a summer beach outfit.
Crazy weather here, too. We’ve been in the low sixties and then snow flurries this morning.
Wow, you have snow and I had to water the yard today. Krispy critters here. π
Dear Jeanne, it is lovely to see the newlyweds. Clearly Reuben was delighted to have them home.
My favorite fabrics are the purple ones. I love the little doll size tote bag.
What a lovely week you’ve had, and what a lovely treat Reuben had.
Joy’s boys are darling. I loved Linda’s dolls yesterday as well. Betsy dropping clothespins in the bottle was my favorite, though I’ve always thought that if that cake was real, I’d happily eat it.
The “thank you” stickers are a prize. I thought the blue lawn was the best until I saw the purple flowered fabric. Remember Scarlett O’Hara’s white and green dress. A blue and white one would be lovely. If you give Julie another braid (on the other side), and tie the braids back with a ribbon and flowers, she makes a nice Victorian, and she’d be beautiful in blue.
Thanks everyone for the comments on the boys! They are lots of fun and are anxiously awaiting another named Alex to join them. π
I am so happy you had such a wonderful time with your sisters and that Rebecca and Karn came home for a visit. I especially love the videos of Rueben with them coming home. I miss my Lilly pup so much, it makes me laugh when I see Rueben act like that. He is so adorable. Anytime you come to Colorado, be sure to look me up and I will watch him for you, okay? I love his beard and eyebrows. I wish I had a daughter to spoil me like you do with Rebecca. She is such a wonderful daughter. You did great with racking up the fabrics and appliques and such. Your videos make me smile, so thank you for that.
