I’m pretty sure yours do too… but if yours need a little persuading, here are a few pictures of the hat I made to go with Sara’s new Spring dress! It’s not white, but a very light cream…and the flowers and trimmings match her dress fabric wonderfully!
If you missed how I made the hat, you can see that post HERE.
The hat can be worn pretty much any way you like…(flowers in the back, on the side, in the front) but the actual “back” of the hat (where I started my braid) is just to the right of that sheer bow…
It is “roomy” enough to wear on the dolls with the braid (Sara) or with 2 braids, like Rozen…
I put a lining in the inside of the hat to keep from catching on your doll’s hair.
Here is a closeup of the hat and the purse together…
I am hoping to get the set listed on Ebay tomorrow, but it all depends on how I feel after my colonoscopy…
Now for something fun and pretty and cute all in one… it’s from Ingrid… I’ll share what she said… and YES, I can use your pictures! :o) Thanks so much!
I thought I’d share my Aya (a moppet size my meadow doll) in her Cardinal sweater set before I change her into her Easter Sunday dress.
She is sharing the spotlight with Lonela (I didn’t name her) a Valewood OOAK teddy from England. I’m really not tech savvy at all …. I had a horrible time getting the photo’s I took off my phone (part of the reason I don’t take photo’s often). I think I tried to email myself the photo’s at least a dozen times before hubby came to my rescue! I’m still not sure what he did… Anyway hope you can use them… if not no worries!
Hugs
Ingrid
Well, I’m getting to bed early tonight as I have to get up and take the 2nd half of my colonoscopy prep stuff at 3:45 in the morning! My appointment is at 7:45… I’m hoping I’m first and get it over with quickly!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, oh, oh, Jeanne! that is a GORGEOUS hat! I love it! You are the most amazing hat creator I have ever seen or known! I can’t wait to see how the whole outfit looks in a full-length picture! I love that picture with parts of the dress, the bralette and purse with the hat! Sara is not going to have this set for very long, I’m afraid!
Oh, Ingrid, that is the most darling set I have seen for a long time! It sure hits the spot for me, since it looks like Aya is a fan of our baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals! She would fit right in! Don’t feel bad about not being tech savvy, you have plenty of company!
Good luck today, Jeanne, and yes, I am up, well, I got up at 3 a.m.! Thinking of you!!
Hi Linda,
I was up at 3:45 and almost left the first comment…but decided to let you or Charlotte have first honors…
I’m glad you like Sara’s hat…she does too! I enjoying making AND decorating them…
See you tomorrow!
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Linda.. thank you for your kind comments. Glad to hear I’m not the only one that has issues with all the electric gadgets out there! I probably should figure out how my new phone works lol. I love birds and when I saw this sweater set I just had to have it. Cardinals are a favorite of mine.
Sara’s hat turned out beautifully, Jeanne (as I knew it would!). I love how you combined some of those flowers and things you showed us a while back. It works so well with the print of her dress.
You will be in my prayers as you go thru the colonoscopy.
Ingrid, I enjoyed your pictures so much!! Aya’s cardinal sweater set goes so well with her rompers, and looks very festive! Did you do the knitting? And her little buddy, Lonela, is so cute. Did you knit her dress? Thanks for sharing.
I’m halfway thru sewing the snaps on Freida’s dress. Soon!!!
Thank you Charlotte
I appreciate your kind comments about Sara’s hat. It’s not too spring like, well, maybe it is… rainy and windy…
Sara still looks pretty and is ready for anything that requires a pretty dress and hat!
Ingrid told me she didn’t make Aya’s outfit, but maybe she’ll tell you herself…
Great going on Freida’s dress!!
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Charlotte, Thank you for your kind comments. To answer your question No I didn’t make either. Lonela came already dressed and Aya’s set came with the romper and the matching hat and sweater. I can knit and crochet but I’d rather buy it from someone that knows how to follow a pattern and can pick up dropped stitches without crying! LOL I’m also ready to put the snaps on Hazels dress, I have the very top one placed so the rest should be easy peasy! Right? lol
Right! LOL I just finished the snaps on Freida’s dress, and I actually took two halves off and redid them because I wasn’t thrilled…I know, I’m a perfectionist! And I had to change the placement of a couple of them (using pins to mark thru the center holes in the ones already in place) because they were too far from the edge to suit me. I do two on the yoke, and then space two more evenly on the skirt (fold the skirt in thirds and put them at the thirds marks, so there will be enough space to the hem for a balanced look). Tomorrow I will try to take pictures of Freida in her new dress.
Good recovery today! You been through the worst, we all hate doing this procedure but must to keep us healthy! The hat is adorable as is Ingrid’s doll, love to see everyone’s dolls.
Have a good day!
Thank you Sylvia,
Yes, I’m on the homestretch and can’t wait till this day is over…
Thank you for your kind compliments on my dress and Ingrid’s Aya!!
Have a great day!
Blessings, Jeanne
Thank you Sylvia! Doesn’t Jeanne make the prettiest hats?!!
Can’t wait to see the full pic with the hat. Sara won’t be keeping this outfit for long I’m afraid.
How fun seeing Ingrid’s Aya this morning. Lovely outfit and those shoes are too cute. The Aya here is waving!! 🙂
I’m sure Jeanne is in recovery and may be even heading home by now. Hope the weather for Jeanne and Linda doesn’t bring snow as I heard there was a late storm in the mid section.
Still working on Easter around here. With my luck it may be done by July. 🙁
Sara looks stunning. The hat as always is just what that outfit needed. The hat, the purse, the dress and slip and bralette are awesome together. I’m sure the pics will be fantastic.
Take a nice nap afterward😌
Thank you, Kathie,
I DID take a nice nap afterwards… TILL 3 O’CLOCK! Yikes!
I’m glad you like the set… I didn’t quite make it on Ebay tonight, but will tomorrow night.. I do have some new pictures for tomorrow though.
Thanks Kathie,
blessings, Jeanne
Hi Joy… Thank you! Aya here is waving back. She’s reminded me that there’s only a few days left and her Easter dress is wrinkled! OMG thats girl! Hazel is much more laid back. She’s been laying around nakkies for weeks now and doesn’t seem to care!
HI Joy,
You are first up with a comment after my colonoscopy. It went pretty quickly this morning… not the hours of waiting my hubby endured… I am fine, just a little tired and my throat is sore… don’t know why that is… oh well,
I have a few outside pics to show tomorrow and then the listing will go on Ebay Tomorrow night… I just couldn’t get it pulled together to go on tonight…
Somehow I missed the whole Easter season… why does this always happen to me? I should make Christmas dresses in May and Easter dresses at Thanksgiving… maybe that might work! :o)
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, I am praying you are safely through with your procedure. This was timely for me because I was thinking that I would cancel my upcoming appointment for the same. You have encouraged me to keep the appointment.
On a happier note, I love Sara’s new frock! One day soon my Sara will be free from the closet and ready for a dress like the one you made. I am so glad that I discovered your blog and was introduced to the Sofa Sisters, Ruby Red Fashion Friends, and Little Darlings.
Our unpacking has been delayed by holiday gatherings, two bathroom remodels, and two trips back to our home state of Louisiana for family celebrations, all in the space of 5 months. North Carolina has yet to feel like home and I am questioning the move close to adult children instead of the place where our siblings and friends still live was the right choice.
My personal time has been so limited but I have enjoyed catching up on everyone’s doll photos, Jeanne’s adventures with family, Joy’s package capers, and Sally’s enviable trip to Europe.
Thanks to all,
Debbie
HI Debbie,
Oh good, I’m glad I encouraged you to go ahead with your colonoscopy…it’s a small thing for your health that has LONG LASTING results… I remember being in the waiting room one time for my hubby (I think) and a friend I hadn’t seen in a long time saw me and came over… turns out she kept putting off her colonoscopy because she thought is was “embarrassing” and she was there for a checkup on her “Colon Cancer”… EEK! Ever since then, I’ve always thought, nothing is THAT embarrassing to put off and not have done! :o)
I’m glad you found my blog too, and I’m happy you discovered the Ruby Red Fashion Friends dolls! Aren’t they just the most wonderfully sized dolls? I love them!
Sounds like you life has been a little like mine… too many things going on that can’t be helped and not enough hours in the day to sew as much as I’d like! Oh well… there’s always another holiday around the bend! :o)
Thanks Debbie,
Blessings, Jeanne
I hope you’re feeling fine, Jeanne, and resting now.
Sara’s hat is just lovely and I’m glad to know it is cream instead of the white I thought.
HI Ingrid, your doll outfit is just adorable. I love the whole thing. Her sweater is just beautiful and the shoes are darling. I love red shoes on little girls and if they have sweet cutouts, all the better.
I just realized I didn’t comment on Lonela. She is just precious!
Hi Laura, thank you for your sweet comments. I also love Aya’s shoes. I ordered them special because her feet didn’t fit into anything I had. She has the cutest chubby legs and feet and her toes sort of curl up so she needed shoes made just for her. Beside collecting dolls I also collect teddy bears and when I saw Lonela her soulful eyes spoke to me saying buy meeee! thanks again for your kind comments!
HI Laura,
I am fine and got in a nice long nap… till 3:00… and plan to get to bed again early tonight… I am still a little wobbly and sort of scatterbrained…
I didn’t get the dress listed on Ebay tonight, but it will go on tomorrow night… but I did get outside while the sun was shining and took a few pictures… you can really see the “prettiness” of the dress in them…
Thanks Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
The ribbon and gold beads tie the hat to that pretty gold purse very nicely. It’s a lovely outfit and perfect for Easter. Sarah won’t like giving it up, but she knows there will be another one soon.
Ingrid’s Aya is a doll I haven’t seen before and her outfit is just right for her. Lonela is wonderful. Here’s the site: http://valewoodbears.com/page2.html
HI Marilyn,
Did you get your snow? I was wondering…
Thanks for your compliments on the hat and how it looks next to the fabric…
It “would” have been perfect for Easter if only I could have found a few extra spare minutes to finish it… but now it’s just a pretty Spring dress!
Thanks for the link to the teddy bears like Lonela… You always find the links! :o)
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Marilyn, Thank you for your kind comments and thanks for sharing Pauline’s web site. This is her etsy shop where you’ll find knitted sweaters in various sizes and OOAK handmade teddys. https://www.etsy.com/shop/ValewoodBears?ref=notif_nfyfs&order=date_desc I’m sure Jeanne won’t mind me sharing. I hope all is well with you. Are the fires out in your area? I read that there are three separate wildfires that forced evacuations this Sunday.
Aya is a Meadow doll. Such a cutie. Meadowdolls.org 🙂
Gorgeous hat!!! I really would like to give this a try if I can find the right mold. I’m not the best at coming up with what to use for a mold (I remember you once using a bowl). Maybe if I started with a professional mold I would gain enough confidence to use other things when I need a different size. Can’t wait to see the whole outfit together in pictures.
Ingrid, I love your Aya in her wonderful winter attire. Next to Bailey, Aya is my favorite Meadow doll. Her jumpsuit is the cutest and I love her shoes. Lonela is one cute little bear and the perfect size for Aya. I’ve been wanting to mention something to you. I don’t know if you solved your situation about a place to live with your folks but I ran across something here the other day that made me think of you. You said you may end up building. A company called Lennar Homes is building what they call Next Gen homes. About the time I saw this I discovered a friend of mine had just moved into one of these homes with her son and his wife and loves it. The houses have an apartment within the house that includes a garage. It has a private entrance but also access to the main house in case a parent needs assistance. They don’t build in your area but you could look the homes up to see what I mean and maybe you could come up with your own version.
Linda, I keep forgetting to tell you how much I loved Molly’s birthday party scene. You really get a lot of use out of the wonderful dinette set. And all the details! Amazing!
I thought the windy days were supposed to be in March but we have sure had our share of them here in April. Temps in the mid 70s – mid 80s so not too bad. I haven’t felt the need to get my summer clothes out just yet.
HI Barbara,
You seem to have a lot on your plate right now… maybe someday you’ll find time to make a hat!
The outfit will go on Ebay tomorrow evening… I just couldn’t get it pulled together by the time I needed it listed. I slept till 3:00…that was part of the problem! :o)
I love Aya’s outfit too, because Cardinals are the state bird of Illinois! We have LOTS of them at our feeders everyday!
We are supposed to have super strong winds tomorrow evening and night… the weather guy said he’s never seen a band of winds so wide and high blowing as what he’s seeing on his map… eek!
Thanks Barbara,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Barbara, Thanks for your sweet compliments and for the housing info. Yes still looking… actually looking every day. The housing market is fierce here. Houses are selling before they’re even officially listed. Makes me feel so defeated. I have been looking at custom house packages. We have Barden Homes in the next town over, they offer fabrication of pre-engineered packages of panelized framing including customized floor, roof, and wall panels. They build in a huge warehouse and deliver your house package to your site. They also have an engineer that will work with you to make whatever changes are needed. It’s actually the direction we are leaning towards. Thanks for thinking of me … enjoy those nice temps, I’m envious!
I love the hat, I can’t wait to see the outfit altogether. I really hope your colonoscopy goes well and you get a clean bill of health
Ingrid I love the outfit on your Aya. It is so pretty. Did you make it?
It is sad that so many ordinary people in Russia have been caught up in something that they probably don’t want or wouldn’t if they knew what was happening. I understand that in Russia they have blocked all outside social media so only have internal media to tell them what is happening in Ukraine. I am rereading ‘Human Kind’ by Rutger Bregman who repeats Lord Acton’s famous statement. “power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely”. Bregman says that is almost the only statement that sociologists, psychologists and philosophers all agree on!
I haven’t been doing much dolly sewing. I am working very hard on getting my scraps out of the way. I have finished two scrap quilts (not full sized bed quilts more like lap quilts) and working on a third, this one with small pieces 4 and a half inches x 1 and a quarter – 2inches. I have decided anything thinner than that is too small to work with and plan to toss them. Well maybe I’ll save them and use them for decorating cards. Do you get the impression I find it hard to throw anything away lol!
HI Anne,
My colonoscopy is done until the next one… I am fine but plan to go to bed early again tonight… I feel a little wiped out and fuzzy headed… I know I just need more sleep!
It is very sad what is happening to the innocent people who are caught in the middle of all this madness. I feel so sorry for them…
I hope you’ll share some pictures of your quilts when you get them finished… even if they are scrappy quilts… it still takes time and work to make them and we’d love to see them…
Thanks Anne,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Anne, thank you for your kind comments. No I didn’t make Aya this outfit but I do plan on sewing for her. She’s a nice size to sew for (15″). I’d love to see your quilts you are working on. Hope you send Jeanne some photo’s soon.
Hi Jeanne,
I’m late as usual …. I’m sure you’re tucked into bed already. I pray you get the rest you need and feel better in the morning.
I LOVE the hat! I’m so glad you used all the flowers, I hoped you would. The blend of the different flower colors looks great beside the dress. It is the perfect accessory!
