Nyssa’s “outside” pictures are even more wonderful…

Before I forget, I tried to see if the outfit I made for Nyssa would fit the Ruby Red Fashion Friends, and it doesn’t. It’s just too big… Nyssa is slim but she’s 3″ taller than the Ruby Red dolls. The shoes didn’t fit, the jacket was too big, the slip slid down on her waist, the headband was too big, etc. It was just too big. I don’t know of any other dolls besides the BJD (Ball Jointed Dolls) and the MSD ( Mini Super Dollfie’s) that would work.

Kaye Wiggs does have other dolls the same size as Nyssa, but she was a limited edition of 84… There is Layla, Miki, Annabella, Hope, and several more Nyssa’s same size.

I received a picture and a sweet note from Ingrid tonight and she sent this picture of some of Kaye Wiggs’ dolls in all different sizes… Nyssa is the same size as the 2nd to the tallest one in the picture.

This is what Ingrid wrote…

Hi Jeanne,
I thought I’d send this picture to help your readers understand that Kaye makes many dolls in many different sizes. As you said Nyssa is on a MSD body. Kaye has produced two MSD, there is only an inch difference so either 18″ or 17″. Kaye has many different face molds that use the MSD body size. So there are lots of girls out there that would love your beautiful outfit!

I found this info on bjdcollectasy – kaye wiggs new directions … she talks about making some of her earlier resin dolls in smaller sizes.

Tallest to smallest is SD size at back, next tallest is our MSD size (we have 2 .. one is slightly smaller then the other and one each side of the tallest doll) .. then our new 13″ size and our 11″ size and the teeny 5.5″ size in the arms of Missy (our taller MSD size). The little 11″ size is the same size as our previous tiny dolls. So we now have SD, MSD, 13″ Mini, 11″ Tiny and 5.5″ Teeny.

hugs
Ingrid

Clear as mud, right? You should have seen me when I first learned about ball jointed dolls. I asked a million dumb questions which seemed like everyone knew but me!

Okay, enough on that… I have some sad news… but it will only last until tonight!

I didn’t get my pictures loaded and my listing on Ebay scheduled until after 10:30. I accidentally uploaded the wrong pictures of her…the ones that hadn’t been cropped! Ugh! So I had to reload the right pictures and all of the image numbers had changed…because it was a new set of pictures. Here is my figuring the right image numbers… it was a mess…

There are (incredibly… 36) pictures in the listing. (EEK!) My outside pictures turned out with such beautiful coloring, I decided to use a lot of them as well as some inside ones. So my listing is all done, but it will go on Saturday evening… I will put the picture of it at the right side bar on here when it become live. I called it Springtime Charm… if you just wanted to look for it…

Here are a few pictures to hold you over till I chat with you again Monday. (I accidentally got her slip bunched up at the upper waist… it got caught in the stand I was using for her and I didn’t notice it until I was cropping my pictures… she looks a little bottom heavy!)

Blessings, Jeanne

Ingrid, thanks for showing us all your BJDs and how they compare in size. Quite a range!! But it does help us understand more how they vary. (It’s almost like you’re speaking a different language, with all those body types!!)

Jeanne, Nyssa’s outfit is just perfect. As someone else said in last night’s comments, this outfit just “sings”. That’s a term I often use when I’m putting fabrics/prints together for a bag or a quilt–they have to “sing”.

I’ve made a little progress on my fleece (a soft bamboo/cotton sweatshirting) jacket today. It’s a knit fabric, so really easy to work on, and it has an almost sweatery drape to it. I’m hoping to get it finished by Sunday evening, but we’ll see about that. Tomorrow I’ll be at church a good bit of the afternoon, cleaning, practicing, and working in my SS classroom–a busy day!

Hi dear Charlotte …. those are not my dolls. Just a photo that Kaye supplied for the interview. I borrowed it, copied the size chart and sent it to Jeanne. It does seem like a whole other language doesn’t it. I have a few of Kayes dolls. Two of which are MSD dolls. One I bought used and one I ordered from https://www.jpopdolls.net/store/home.php during a pre order, I think it was Missy but honestly not positive of her name right this minute. lol I love all dolls some more than others… collecting is lots of fun isn’t it? The tallest doll in this picture is a fawn and instead of feet she has hooves. I think she’s sweet but fantasy dolls aren’t my cup of tea. It took awhile for me to warm up to them. My kaye MSD girls are so heavy I can only imagine how heavy the SD doll is. I think a little more doll than I want to handle.

I saw your sewing photo’s on Facebook. It’s so nice that you sew for yourself. Stretch fabric to me is no fun! You make it look and sound so easy. Enjoy your weekend. hugs Ingrid

Hi Ingrid, Of course, I remember now your saying that was a photo Kaye supplied.

I’m with you–not into the fantasy ones. Not fond of the “elfin” ones, either, with the pointy ears, etc. To each her own, I guess!

I’m glad you enjoyed my photos; I’ll be posting one more tonight, I think. I was at church working all afternoon, so didn’t have much sewing time.

Now, I ***LOVE*** to sew on knit fabrics! I took my first Stretch & Sew class in about 1970, and it was instant love. I’ve probably made hundreds of t-shirts–for me, son, hubby, nephews, grands, etc.–plus many other things (love to make lingerie). I’m glad I have the kind of experience I do, though, as that sweatshirt fleece I’m working on is Very soft, almost sweater-like in hand. Still, it’s working up must fine!

Thanks to Ingrid, i am seeing a variety of BJD’s that are available. Almost too confusing to me, so I wonder how people who have all these various size dolls find clothes to dress them in, or do they stay dressed in what they come in? I do have storybook dolls that stay in what they come in, but for me, the fun is changing up what they wear, so I need lots of things! To each her own!

Wow, Nyssa’s outfit colors just pop outside! What a pretty day we had for taking outside pictures too! I see that you kept the orange belt/ribbon on and I do like that better. That purse is just adorable,…well, the whole outfit is, now if only Nyssa would smile for us!

      Hi Linda,
Congrats on winning the dolly slip! I also wanted to say that i really enjoyed the wonderful photo’s of your girls. It’s always a treat to see what you come up with.
To answer your question… when you buy a Kaye Wiggs doll during a pre order event the doll comes nude with random eyes and no wig. (actually My Meadow dolls and Connie Lowe dolls come this way too.) You should have seen my face while I opened up the box and discovered I had to put the eyes in myself! Yikes… I’m an old pro at it now. lol changing her look is half the fun. I now have a large collection of eyes, wigs, shoes and clothes. Etsy is a wonderful place to find clothes for BJD’s
      Enjoy your weekend, Hugs Ingrid

In case any one is interested, I have two Kaye Wiggs girls, and I can’t tell you which size they actually are in the photo from Ingrid. I can never remember their names. Poor things. It is a great reference photo. Love those girls. 🙂 Thanks for sharing Ingrid. I would love to see a RRFF, an AG doll, and a Meadow doll all standing next to Nyssa for comparison. Just for size reference as most of are familiar with those. 🙂 I guess I will have to look back and figure out exactly which KW girls are standing around behind me here. 🙂
Great outdoor photos for Nyssa. Looks like the lawn is greening up already. Next will be spring flowers breaking ground. Here, daffodils are popping and the bees have been enjoying the quince even though we had frost last night. 🙂
Hoping for better news from across the seas. Have a great weekend everyone and stay safe.

    1. The lighting outside just popped that already colorful fabric even more! Overcast skies always make better pictures 😉 She couldn’t look sweeter and I was surprised at her size…somehow I thought she was about 13” 🥴
We are celebrating rain….almost a half inch…it was badly needed and maybe more today. After several days in a row of 70’s Mother Nature is playing with us. We will probably have more winter.

      1. I just saw yesterdays pictures….tooo many Dr appts and visitors. WOW! Loved the slip and bralette….just perfect and that purse and headband are so freaky cute! I knew I was missing something!

    2. Ingrid B in Western N Y

LOL you sound like me. I bought a Kaye MSD a while back and can’t recall her name… I think it’s Missy but I’m probably wrong … darn it hate getting old and forgetful! Have a great weekend! Hugs Ingrid

Thanks, Ingrid. I’ve run into SD and MSD so much I’ve acquainted myself with what they mean and the sizes of the BJDs but you really made things easier to understand by putting the dolls next to each other. It also tells me there is hope for maybe acquiring a Kaye Wiggs doll at some time even if not a Nyssa. But I do notice that none of them are smiling. That is also true of most of the LDs. I think that’s one reason why I love the RRFFs. They used the “smiley” sculpt and it makes them appear to have such joie de vivre.

Jeanne, the outside pictures of Nyssa are wonderful. I probably wouldn’t have noticed the “width” of Nyssa’s hips if you hadn’t mentioned it. I was too busy looking at the beautiful ensemble she is wearing. It’s funny how I always assume Nyssa is tiny. She is so svelte and I assumed her clothes would be too small for the RRFF rather than too big. Pictures sure can be deceiving.

Charlotte, you will be sharing a picture of your new wearing attire won’t you? I would love seeing what it looks like. I really envy you sewing for yourself. I used to make nearly everything I wore until my size kept changing before I finished an outfit. I couldn’t figure out if it was me or the patterns. I would make something using the measurements on the pattern which were the closest to my measurements adjusting where necessary, but when I put the outfit on it would be huge. If I went to the smaller size and did the same, it was too small. Unlike Goldilocks I never did find a size that was just right. That’s why I bought the Lutterloh method of pattern making. But then I got into sewing for my dolls and forgot about sewing for me. I must pull out the Lutterloh and give it a try. I got the announcement for the new seasonal collection and I need to check it out.

Joy, you asked if anyone had a dollhouse from their childhood. I wish. I’ve always dreamed of buying a kit and building one myself but I never really liked the floor plans. I’d really like one similar to the one I posted pictures of on the blog awhile back. I just wouldn’t know where to start. I would definitely need hubby’s help and he always had other irons in the fire. Since I am the oldest of four girls nothing was really “mine”, so I don’t know what happened after my younger sisters took ownership, especially when two of them were so much younger than me. My dad built our dollhouses. Beth and I started out with a two-story traditional and then he built a more modern ranch style with a “U” shape. He was into landscaping, so he landscaped the area inside the “U” with little shrubs, etc. It was very nice, but I have no clue what happened to it because my family was not much into keeping things. It probably went to a little girl in the neighborhood when my sisters were finished with it.

I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new dolly daughter Evianna along with her three-outfit wardrobe by Magalie. I tried to only buy one outfit but just couldn’t do it. Especially when Magalie told me the outfits would be limited.

It is late spring here right now, it will be late fall early next week, then a couple days of winter and then back to fall. I’m not sure what’s next because I could only get ten days at a time. But I’m not complaining. I know summer is out there somewhere ready to pounce and then there will be days of endless heat and humidity.

    1. Joy in northern CA

I’m not remembering your dollhouse picture. Any idea when and I’ll search. I’m looking for the tin houses of the late 40’s through 60’s. I do have one I picked up at a sale that is very similar to the house I had as a child which disappeared somewhere along with the furniture that I wanted to save. 🙁
Hope you have a nice weekend.

A doll dress, a dollhouse and a deck of dolls, June 30, 2020. It’s the post that included Sophie Mae, Aya and Stella May on your deck.

Hi Barbara, I’m glad to be of help : ) There doesn’t seem to be many smiling faces among Kayes dolls but I love them anyways! lol Congrats on your new girl coming your way. Do tell… who is Evianna ?? A new little darling?
I think everyone is having crazy weather… we are suppose to get into the low 60’s tomorrow and then freezing temps again. oh well
      Enjoy your weekend. Hugs Ingrid

Ingrid, Eviana is a Little Dreamer, a concept Dianna Effner came up with before she passed away. There will be a series of them like the LDs. They are meant to be sisters for the LDs as they are smaller. They are not hand painted so are less expensive and you can buy clothes for them by Magalie Dawson. If you’ve never looked at her MHD Designs webpage (www.dolloutfits.com) it is amazing. Not only does she paint Little Darlings but designs patterns for clothes for them and many other size dolls. That was one of the selling points for me, Magalie was doing the costuming. There are three outfits available for purchase. I couldn’t resist all three.

    3. Charlotte Trayer

Oh, Barbara, do give sewing for yourself another try! It helps if you have a sewing buddy to help you take measurements–it’s really kind of tricky to take your own, although it can be done for Most of them.

And yes, I’ll be glad to share a picture or two when I’m done!

Those dollhouses must have been wonderful, and it was so special that your dad made and even landscaped them! Hopefully some other little girls have enjoyed them over the years. I just had the conventional early-1950s tin doll house with plastic furniture, but I surely enjoyed it!

      1. Barbara in SE Texas

Getting back to sewing for me would be great in many ways. One would be reducing my stash – so I can buy more fabric. I usually make the dolly girls clothes from fat quarters, so that usually (depending on the pattern) leaves my regular yardage untouched. I have some pretty pieces I have hesitated cutting into fearing the outcome.

While we had “custom built” dollhouses, we still did have the plastic furniture. Today you can buy some amazing real looking furniture for dollhouses, not to mention all the other accessories that didn’t exist when we were little.

Nyssa’s outfit is wonderful and those shoes wow and the purse double wow! The outdoor photos really are beautiful. Sorry you had trouble listing it but I’m sure your hard work will be rewarded. Have a great weekend Hugs Ingrid
