I visited Springfield Leather in Springfield, Missouri

My sisters and their hubbies and I are having a REALLY fun time just visiting and sharing stories. A lot of laughing has been happening. We’ve gone to several thrift stores and tried out a new restaurant.

Yesterday we went to a huge store called Springfield Leather Company and I had too much fun…actually we all did. There was everything you could possibly imagine for leather making and they even had a big section of natural stones and geodes…

Since I’m writing this on my phone, I’ll show you some of the pictures I took.

Look at this guitar case someone made…it can be yours for $6500! Isnt it beautiful?

How about this child’s saddle for $1500!
It is SO adorable!!

It was so much fun for me!! I got some thread for my doll shoes and boots and a few new things to see if I can’t improve the soles a bit. You could pick out a bag of leather scraps with every purchase and you bet I did.

We were going to go to the Bas Pro Shop and the big Wonders of Wildlife Aquarium tomorrow, but we found out today that tomorrow is the 50th Anniversary of Bass Pro and they are expecting 500,000 visitors…uh…probably not…we decided not to go.

Well, that’s it from me today.
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Hi Jeanne! Isn’t it fun to go see places that you don’t normally go? it is just amazing to see all the leather pieces, and what you can do with it! I imagine the whole store has the aroma of leather too! Although we haven’t gone there, we have been in leather shops in Branson, but this one looks special! That guitar case is really beautiful, and the child’s saddle is darling! Those rock formations are wonderful to see and it is mind blowing to think of how long it took them to form!

Oh, the Bass Pro shop! We have been there over and over every time we go to Branson several times a year! Even though we have a smaller store of Bass Pro in St. Louis, this is the one and only that Michael really likes. It is huge! And we did go to see the Wonders of Wildlife and the Aquarium, at a less crowded time. George would love it, and the museum too. Some day you have to get there and see that. Yes, this is the big weekend for the Bass Pro Shop! Michael went one year for this, and it was really something! They had people barbecuing in the parking lots, all kinds of demonstrations too, and you could park in places all around with shuttle buses taking you to the store. It was fun, but yes, the crowds were a bit much!

What an interesting shop for you to visit! I was wondering if you might not have gotten something for your “cobbler shop”, and it appears that you did! Thanks for sharing pictures of your visit. Can’t wait to see what you bought!!

What fun! Thanks for the tour! We have been to a couple of Bass Pro Shops They are very cool, but 600,000 folks, I would skip it too. Keep having a ball, makes for great memories! Have a good day!

Very interesting. Leather and rocks. What a combination. The tooling on the large pieces is quite amazing. So much work, but a special craft. The large geodes are wonderous.
I’ve never heard of a Bass Pro Shop. Must be special if it can draw 500,00 people. If it has anything to do with fishing/hunting you can count me out. My mother, from Missouri, liked to fish for trout. The smell of salmon eggs makes me sick. πŸ™
RRFF Josephine is out for delivery. No plans for other person, so very likely I’ll get caught again. Those doll boxes are impossible to disguise.
So glad you’re having a fun time with sisters and look forward to more photos of the sights in MO, especially since it is the home land of several generations for me.

Dear Joy, since we are all now part of your espionage activities, I thought it was time for use to offer some suggestions for concealment.

1 Get a box at the local post office and have all of the “special” shipments delivered there
2 Have the “special” packages shipped to a friend. I knew someone who did this!
3 Tell Other Person that the “special” deliveries are only packaged to look like doll boxes and that they are really secret documents. You know this, of course, because you are a secret agent with the FBD (Federal Bureau of Dolls)

I am sure that the other Sofa Sisters will have suggestions.

As the advisory said on Mission Impossible: this message will self destruct in 30 seconds, good luck Joy!

      1. Too funny! Great ideas, Dorothy!
Joy, your adventures are delightful to read and any one of us has probably had to do the same with our doll deliveries.
Mission Impossible is perfect for background music.
Maybe the Jaws music for when Other approaches?

        1. Good luck with Josephine, Joy. Love all your ideas, Dorothy, especially number three.
The Mission Impossible theme is great!

Dorothy is so clever! Love the suggestions. That Mission Impossible theme is perfect as is Paula’s Jaws, although it scares me a lot!
I think I can hear Jaws playing now as it is 1:28 and no delivery yet. We have to run an errand, so if it shows up while we’re gone, I’m toast as it will be sitting right in front of the door. We’ll see.

Dear Joy, please let us know what happens. We are all part of this adventure now (smile). Sofa Sisters United (SSU). Doesn’t that sound like a spy organization (chuckle)? When I wasn’t watching Mission Impossible, I was watching the Man From U.N.C.L.E. and Perry Mason.

Joy, Bass Pro started out mainly as a fishing store, but now is so much more. It carries just about anything and everything having to do with outdoors, boating, fishing, camping, hunting, even clothes too. It is pretty big here in the Midwest. It is more than a store, now has the Wonders of Wildlife Museum and huge Aquarium too.
So interesting to hear your mother is from Missouri! Michael fishes too, and loves to fish for trout, but I sure don’t think I would love the smell of salmon eggs either!

My grandmother was also from MO. Born in Mine LaMotte. My mother was born in Flat River but I think they renamed it Park Hills. Interesting about BP. Probably don’t have any dolls or dollhouses though. πŸ™‚

Dear Jeanne, I am so glad you are having sister time! Thanks for taking us along on your adventures.

  7. The geodes are super cool. I have one that my parents found when they use to go rock hunting. It’s probably only five by five inches, but still nice. i also have another rock cover with pink crystals as well as just various other rocks and a few bottles of small gemstones they found. My choice of vacation souvenirs are always rocks, dirt or sand. I have all of them from Prince Edward Island.
Count me out of the hunting/fishing of the Bass Pro Shop. Outdoors, camping, and boating you can count me in.

    1. Laura, I’m the same, collecting rocks from our various trips and sand. I have bottles input the sand in from different beaches – then I put a tag of the beach on the bottle.
Also, collected some bricks from a few places related to family.

I didn’t get to comment yesterday but I have to say that Karen’s Twinkle sisters are absolutely adorable. And so ready for the Easter holidays.

We have a huge Bass Pro Shop at our Katy Mills Mall. I’ve been through it a couple times on my way into the interior of the mall but since we no longer have camping vacations, there isn’t much there that interests us.

The leather shop was wonderful. I had a friend one that did leather tooling and I loved to go with him when he bought supplies The smell of the shop was wonderful and some of the tooling art was magnificent. The geodes are lovely. I used to go to the Gem and Mineral Show in Houston. You could buy geodes and then they would saw them open for you. One young girl one day had hers opened to find it contained gem quality amethyst. People were trying to buy it from her.

We’ve got some crazy virus going around here and it’s nothing COVID related. I’ve had it for two days now but think I’m finally getting over it. Sean’s family had it a couple weeks ago. It’s the end of the month and I have many things to do and didn’t needed really need any down time.
