Bailey’s Beautiful in Blue…

Yesterday was my hubby’s birthday and aside from doing a few things for him, I spent some time in my sewing room trying to finish up My Meadow’s Twinkle Bailey’s (6″ tall) blue set… and I got it all done! Yippee… another one soon to be listed. So let me tell you about my day!

Since it was my hubby’s birthday I did spend some time with him, just at home, and we even got a birthday call from Rebecca and Karn. We talked to them while we were eating dinner. (You know “multi-tasking!”)

I decided I didn’t like the eyelashes I just put on Bailey yesterday… they got in the way of her pretty blue eyes, so I found another set of lashes in my stash… and picked a pair that seemed to curl up more… and replaced them… again, it was tedious, but I’m much happier with them. This is my “eyelash stash!” For some reason when I take a close up of her eyes, the eyelashes look like they are super thick and so black, but in reality, they are very dainty and thin as a strand of hair…

The piece on my finger is the size of lashes I used for her… see, I told you they were tiny!

Here she is in her new white panties…

…and her light blue slip…

…and her blue Ultrasuede shoes! (Thanks to Kathie for the Ultrasuede!)

This Ultrasuede was a bit thicker than some pieces I have used, so I had to kind of “gather” up the front edge… and the toes are stuffed a bit to keep them rounded… but they actually stay on Bailey’s feet better this way…

Here is the bottom sole…

Oh I forgot to tell you, I trimmed her bangs just a bit but they are super thick, kind of like Betsy McCall’s and I didn’t want to cut them any shorter or they would just stick straight out… You can see her new eyelashes in the picture too…

Here’s Bailey in her dress with the slip showing just a bit… and her shoes on…

Another picture just because I had it…

From this photo shoot, I discovered Bailey is quite the little Charmer…

Or maybe she’s a little “flirt!”

But most of all, she’s just as lovely as I had hoped she’d be…

Well, I better get to bed… it’s late…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Indeed, Bailey is beautiful in blue! I love her new little shoes, her petticoat…just everything about this outfit. It “sings”!!

I see that Molly’s outfit has another bid! Woohoo!

No sewing for me today–spent Way too much time trying to get Ron’s old cell phone # transferred to his new phone. I’m still not positive everything is done–he had Lots of minutes accumulated (he rarely uses it, and every time you buy a year’s service, you get more minutes), but we’ve turned it off for the night and will turn it on tomorrow and see what happens.

    1. HI Charlotte,
Yes, Bailey is very pretty… and in blue, she just shines! :o)

      3 bidders on Molly’s dress… yippee… and 22 watchers and 236 views!
Never know what will happen till the end!

I’m trying to help my hubby with his new phone… it’s quite the learning curve for someone who has had a flip phone for years… Our poor guys… their wives having to show them how to use their latest gadget! :o)

Hope you get back to your sewing soon,
      Blessings, Jeanne

How sweet little Bailey looks! The picture of her sitting down on her chair, looking out and smiling makes me want to sit down and chat with her! I’m sure it would be a fun conversation!!

That cute little dress, slip, panties and shoes, not to mention the hat, is the perfect outfit for her! I did think she had a bit too much mascara on yesterday, as if she got into her mother’s make-up drawer!! 🙂 The new eyelashes are much better for a sweet little doll like her!!

I hope George had a good day, wow, the weather sure cooperated for him! Today looks even better, at least for us! Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all of you!

    1. Thank you Linda,
Bailey is a very sweet little doll and I’m just loving her smile! I’m going to enjoy her very much! A happy doll makes me happy! :o)

I took some pictures of her outside today and the eyelashes seemed to be a little more tame to me… not so “out there!”

My hubby did have a nice birthday… I even made a very small batch of chocolate chip cookies (14) and we shared them…
His middle name is Patrick… his mom’s idea since he was “almost” a St. Patrick’s baby…
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Very difficult to put lashes on the tiny ones. Better you than I for sure. Bailey looks so cute in her sweet liberty dress, and the hat will shield her from those bright spring rays. 🙂
Heading into the kitchen to load the crockpot. Eight hours from now, we’ll be enjoying corned beef and cabbage. Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!

    1. HI Joy,
Yes, I’d have to agree… tiny eyelashes aren’t exactly fun to put on… because the sticky part on the eyelashes is on the inside part, and on the dolls you want the sticky part on the outside because of the way you put them up under the eyelid, it can be tricky to say the least!
I took her outside today for some pictures and it was “almost” too bright, but we managed to get a few pictures to keep and put in the listing… it goes on tonight!

I hope your cabbage and corned beef turned out well…
Happy St. Patrick’s day to you too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

That smile on Bailey is just the right expression for her outfit. Glad the ultra suede was the right color and it seems thin till you make those teeny shoes. Everything about it is so Springy and fresh.
    Good luck with the auction!
    Happy ☘️☘️☘️

    1. HI Kathie,
If I had needed the blue Ultrasuede for any other doll, the piece I had would not have worked… it was a long skinny strip about 1 1/4″ wide… and only a tiny shoe could be made from it… thanks again…
      I’m glad you like it…
      Blessings, Jeanne

Who would think that the eyelashes on a 6″ tall person would make a difference, but they do. She was really cute yesterday and cuter today. She needed shoes and now she has them. The hat balances the skirt. It another winning outfit, but a bit chilly for here today. Our trees are back to imitating lace and the roofs, cars, lawns, and streets are white. Our weather goes your way — if your weather is good, like Linda’s, today, don’t count on it lasting.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
I’m glad the difference in eyelashes was worth the effort… I could tell a difference, but I’m seeing her in person and that sometimes makes a difference. I’m glad you could tell…
Thanks for your sweet comments… she is a little dream to sew for…
I think we are supposed to get rain starting at 5 in the morning… not what I was wanting, but it will be okay…
      Thank you Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Seems like Bailey just gets cuter every day. I do like these lashes better and clipping the bangs was a good idea. What an adorable ensemble. I love the fabric and the shoes are the cutest. Really can’t imagine how small they are. I’m not sure my fingers could do anything that small. Love the hat with the bow. There’s one of those lovely slips again. I’m going to try my hand at making them because I’ve got two new dresses that really need those slips with a yoke.

Surprisingly my computer came back up yesterday. I had already made an appointment to take it in tomorrow, so I’ll cancel that. There was a massive upgrade and somehow my computer didn’t reboot afterward. I just kept trying and finally things meshed and it’s back and seems better and faster then before.

Definitely Spring here and according to the ten-day forecast it will stay that way for at least ten days. We had to mow the lawn for the first time in a few months yesterday. It was already getting very ragged looking.

    1. HI Barbara,
I think you might be right… I thought Bailey was adorable in my sewing room under the lights, but when I got her outside today, she seems to get cuter in the sun!
Those shoes weren’t my greatest, but they are decent… I just don’t like the rippled toe area… but there was too much suede to do anything with except run a basting stitch in it and evenly distribute the gathers…

I haven’t forgotten about you wanting to know how to do a slip with a yoke.. hang on and I’ll show you…

Good news about your computer… I wish I knew more how to trouble shoot with them… I hate to be at the mercy of someone else for my computer issues.

Congrats on Spring getting to you first… we need to rake gumballs first before we mow the grass… there are thousands of them…
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone who shares Irish heritage with me or who is “Irish for the day” as my German college roommate said. 🙂
I hope George had a wonderful birthday yesterday.

I did have to laugh at your eyelash stash and the names. We have dainty, sultry and kiss.
Bailey looks as cute as a button and her blue eyes just shine in her blue dress. The hat is adorable with the sweet bow as are the shoes. I have a question about her slip applique. I remember those type of appliques quite clearly and still have a few, but I don’t know what exactly they are called to search for more. Would you, Jeanne?

Beautiful here today sunshine and low 60’s. I saw the first crocuses this morning, purple, white, yellow, and white with purple stripes. Come on spring!!

    1. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you Laura,
I told my hubby at lunch today, I guess I picked the wrong color of dress to show today… instead of blue, I should have shown something green… oh well… sorry!
My hubby did have a nice day yesterday… thanks!

I know… some of those eyelash names are crazy… I just have to ignore the names and go by the thinness of them… for dolls they have to be super fine… at least for the little bitty dolls. Navi’s eyelashes are painted on, but I do like the 3D effect of Bailey’s.

Glad you found the appliques… they are generally vintage, but not always… they are mostly always in clusters of 3 embroidered flowers… they used to be used on little girls slips!

We have one purple crocus in our yard and my hubby said I should have taken a picture of Bailey by it… it’s about as tall as she is…

      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Dear Jeanne, Bailey has such a wonderful personality. I love her in the new dress.

You have become quite the shoemaker. I think you are ready to hang out your shingle, “Exquisitely Crafted Footwear by Jeanne.”
