We’re expecting snow, so how about some doll coats from the archives…

Tomorrow’s high is only supposed to be 20 degrees and then falling to 9 degrees through the night. BBBRRRR! The snow is supposed to start around 5 a.m. Thursday morning. It’s not supposed to be a super snow event, but it will be slippery and present a few headaches.

Since I’ve been making doll coats, I thought I’d show a few I’ve made in the past…

Well, that’s it for today… I hope it’s warm wherever you are! I plan to stay inside today… maybe even sew! Who knows who is next!! :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

What fun!! And some lovely coats. My favorite has to be the red-violet (or magenta) one with the black trim and matching purse, second picture down. I just love that color, and would probably choose something like that for myself, too! I also like Molly’s navy tweed coat in the next picture.

Note to Sally: my birthday isn’t until the 28th of Jan. (one week–and 13 years!–after Ron’s). I’m just getting a head start on my shopping!! 😂🤣😂 (In addition, between Jan. 13 and Feb. 9th we have two grandson’s, our son’s, Ron’s daughter’s, Ron’s brother’s, our former daughter-in-law’s, and my close friend Liz’s birthdays, in addition to our own. And that’s not counting my three cousins who also have January birthdays (one the same as Ron’s!). Right. After. Christmas.!)

From December 25 (I’m including Christmas) till January 21 our family birthday/events calendar sounds a lot like yours. I’m 12/26, Jaiden is 12/31, my niece is 1/1, David is 1/6, our anniversary is 1/19 and Dionne and Azure have birthdays on 1/21. It is also October for us. My mother was 10/8 and my grandmother was 10/18. They have passed away but we still have grandson Anderson on 10/6, Sean on 10/14 and my nephew on 10/27, not to mention two friends with birthdays that month and another friend who has an anniversary that month. Needless to say I have to keep a list

I remember that blue tweed coat you made for Molly! Actually, that is what introduced you to me through Ebay! I had only Molly at that time, and ias looking for a coat for her, since AG didn’t make one, so saw this and loved it! However, It was out of my price range, of course, and i thought,” there is another”uppity” doll clothes maker”! That was so far from the truth, it was laughable to think of it now! You always did make beautiful doll clothes, and that never changed, but “uppity”? Not a chance! I wound up getting Molly another coat, but kept your name on my list of sellers on Ebay, and next to it, I put “Blue Coat” so I could remember you! It’s still there!

I think Molly’s blue coat and Nellies right above it are my favorites!

Definitely into the coat mode. I like the magenta and dark blue the best as they show off the great styles of the patterns, but the animal prints also have their merits.
So, any thoughts as to an outfit for Freida? I think she will be a wonderful model. Maybe some separates that can be worn different ways?
Hope you can get some snow photos of your place. Love seeing those.
    Keep warm. 🙂

  4. I always enjoy seeing your girls modeling previous outfits and these coats are wonderful. I especially like Molly’s blue coat. Perfect for her era.

I wanted to add, Chrissa looks beautiful in the white leopard set. It almost reminds me of the movie Dr. Zhivago and all the ladies in their fur coats.

It is certainly the time to present the outer wear during the winter season. The girls all look snuggly warm !

  5. Jeanne, I didn’t realize you had made so many coats! They are all lovely of course, but as a favorite I have to say it is the current “Winter Wonder”. It has a special personality and we would all like a one in a Sofa Sister size😍
Holy moly it is cold! Yes, a good day to stay in and my fun will be doing laundry….lots and lots of it because of company and Holidays.
My 2 girls came yesterday and we de-Christmased…cleaned and put up Snowmen.
My pink bathroom tree will get Valentine hearts added to the angels.
    Stay warm!

  6. Coats are definitely in order. It’s a “toasty” 21 degrees here. Except for the twin coats on Samantha and Nellie, all the others are new to me so they are prior to 2014. Love the purple with black trim one on Nellie. That reminds me of the AG Sugarplum coat which is one of the very few modern pieces I have. It looks Victorian/Edwardian so it was a must- have.

I hope you’ll share your snowmen decor, Kathie. Sounds so cute.

I love fashion shows from the past. Many of the things I am seeing for the first time. Nellie and Molly’s coats are my favorites of the previous coats, but when you add all the coats you have made recently, you’ve made quite a lot of beautiful outdoor wearing attire.

I finally got the two snowsuits for my Heartstring dolls. It took a while, but I think they were coming from Russia. Two of my Heartstrings had wonderful winter outfits with cute hats from Jo’s Doll Shoppe but two had nothing to wear for building a snowman. These snowsuits are absolutely adorable. They are really for the Kruseling dolls but fit the Heartstrings perfectly.

Jo Flitton of Jo’s Doll Shoppe fully retired as of December 31, and I believe her website is totally gone. I will definitely miss her because there is nothing out there that even comes close to what she did for the Tiny Betsy and Heartstring dolls. It was fun each season to see what new outfits she would design not to mention the collector dolls she created. And she also made clothes for Helen Kish’s Riley and Tulah and Heather Maciak’s Jenny and Lexie. I only have one of her collector Heartstring dolls and two of the basic dolls. Really wish now I had bought more. Little Charmings is trying to fill the bill but seems off to a slow start. I bought a doll from them and they have other dolls that are so cute, but the wardrobe selections were the selling point of Jo’s website for me and right now they don’t exist.

I wouldn’t mind having some snow here, but a day in the 60s is probably the best I can hope for at the moment. But since we plan on venturing out to dinner this evening, it’s better we’re not having snow.

It was lovely to see all the coats you have made over the years. I think I like the tweed blue and the magenta ones best. Not quite right for us over the other side of the world. Our temps have dropped yesterday and (according to the forecast) today from 30 to 20 but of course that is Celcius not farenheit!

We are off on holiday tomorrow, going down south to Dunedin for a week and then to the Catlins for one night. We had thought to go and stay in Queenstown and Wanaka for a few days as well but I realised I have to be back in town for a committee meeting on the 18th. We should be able to spend a day in Queenstown on the way home but that will have to suffice for now. Sam and Greg had two vehicles an electric 5 seater and a 7 (or 8 I’m not sure) Estima. She would have preferred to keep the van but Greg wouldn’t give her it (wanted to keep the car as well but he had to give it to her in the end). He had agreed to us borrowing the van for the trip but when she went round to get it he had changed his mind. My car is only 4 seats so it wouldn’t really be big enough!!! Apparently he would agree to us borrowing it if she went to counselling! The only other time they went to counselling he walked out and refused to go back because the counsellor was on Sam’s side! He wants someone to agree with him that she was the problem not him. Anyway I rang my youngest son to see if we could borrow his car for the week. Not a problem he uses the work truck during the week so we were welcome. Sorted

I keep meaning to send the photo of the cake I made for Ashley with her red panda on it. I’ll try to do that today The party went off sort of OK. They were supposed to be outside on the deck in the tent but the only boy who came found the tent too crowded so he spent the night on the swing seat (a three seater). The girls decided about 1am that it was too scary outside so the four of them got into Sam’s bed and she slept on my couch in the lounge – a two seater so not very comfortable! I think the kids enjoyed themselves anyway!. However I now know why I don’t go to the children’s parties! Instead of goodie bags of lollies (candy in the States and sweets in the UK) She gave them a sheet of paper and felts etc and they made a design on the paper which she scanned then printed off on transfer paper then ironed the picture on to white t shirts she had bought. I think they enjoyed that very much. I’m sure the parents preferred it as well.

Will try to send a picture from Sunny (hopefully) Dunedin. Stay warm ladies

I was looking for a picture of the RRFF Dawn — if you check Google images, you won’t find Dawn, but you will find lots of pictures of RRFF dolls in Jeanne’s dresses, mostly pictures from this blog.

Nice to see the coats — I think the one you made Julie was never photographed, but it’s still my, and her, favorite. Maybe it’s time for your Julie to have a similar coat, if you still have any of that dark brown fur.

It was 3 degrees here and snowing this morning. Since both Jeanne and my favorite political blog have mentioned supply chain problems, I ordered groceries yesterday. 1/3 were either not available or another brand was substituted — no Campbell’s tomato soup or zucchini — we are not talking rare gourmet items.

Molly and Neli’s coats are great. My favorite and of course doll fur from 2021 and the latest Chrissy fur
