There was a contest put on by Ruby Red Fashion Friends fanclub and Sally was the BIG winner of the newest Ruby Red Fashion Friends doll. She is a real cutie and I’m sure you’ll all like to see her. Sally sent me a detailed email and I thought why not just share her information with all of you. She wrote…
As you probably read, I won the giveaway contest for this newest doll, Frieda who is supposed to be a Native American.
First, I would like to share this site that had the contest. It is on Facebook, and I know there are sofa sisters who don’t/won’t use it. But it’s a pretty new group, only 151 members so far. For those that do FB, the page is called Ruby Red Fashion Friends fanclub (Official) which is from Ruby Red Fashion Friends – Global. There is no capital on the word fanclub and it is one word for this page. You “apply” for membership which is free, but you are required to own at least one special limited edition doll and must provide a picture of your certificate. There are a few questions to answer and acceptance comes relatively fast. It’s nice that RRFF Global has a few of their people who participate on the site to answer questions and take suggestions.
This giveaway contest was open to all members, and we were asked to speculate what color hair the doll had and could enter multiple times with different answers. Pretty easy, for sure. The contest was closed December 2 and the winner announced on the 6th. Not only was it a wonderful surprise to win, but the biggest surprise was that as the winner, I had to pm the company with my address, email, and phone number before they could send her out which was this past Monday, but then, the doll got here from Hong Kong yesterday, Friday!! Talk about fast. I saw a pickup truck pull over in front of our house and a man got out with a doll box. It wasn’t UPS or USPS and no tracking notice was sent to me by the company. Unbelievable speed. (If only the other dolls we prepaid for almost 5 months ago would show up, but those are other stories.)
As winner, it was my job to take pictures of the doll and give a description as I was “unveiling “ the doll to the world. I have never, ever initiated a FB post but once, and never with pictures. Well, I figured it out and it really wasn’t hard.
As you can see, Freida comes in the blue box and has all those cords to cut, but they did put foam around the legs to prevent marking and indentations from the cords that others have complained about.
Her skin is a rather honey sun-kissed tone with some delicate rosiness on her face. She has dark brows that are so pretty with her deep brown/black hair that has side-swept bangs with a spit curl by the ears, and a long, off-center braid.
Her outfit consists of a white, lined “leather” jacket with a working asymmetrical zipper, a cotton short sleeve shirt with “Girl Power”, pale purple and white cotton leggings, a purple tulle skirt with whitish silver micro dots, and silver metallic boots.
Freida’s coloring is so pretty; I wanted to put her in one of the new dresses I just received from Guzel yesterday of FavoriteDress on Etsy and pink shoes made by Ann Van Doren. This young lady will look fantastic in so many colors. The best part is that she will not be a limited edition, so there will be no need to scramble for her. She will be part of the core line, which also means her wig is glued. I am not sure when RR will have her on the market, but I would guess at the start of the year, since I was given until December 31 to give the company my mailing info.
To say the least, this has been very exciting and she is a really, really lovely doll. I am most grateful to have won her.
Lots of hugs and Christmas wishes for you, George and Reuben.
Sally
Thanks Sally! I’m sure everyone is thrilled to have gotten a first hand look at Frieda… She reminds me of a little Josefina… Who knows who else will get her when she becomes available! :o)
Well, this will have to be it today… I was a bit under the weather this weekend with a bad cold, so I didn’t do much but watch sappy Christmas movies and sleep…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a great prize, and she’s so pretty. The skin color is lovely and I am glad she is going to be a core doll
Hi, Lynn,
Yes, I certainly agree she makes a wonderful addition to the core line. It would be nice to see a boy on the core, too. There was some intimation of that about a month ago with a backside shot.
Well, Sally, if you see a green glow to the NW of you, that’s some serious doll envy going on!! Frieda is just gorgeous, and I’m thrilled that she will be in their regular line! Of course, having purple as part of her outfit doesn’t hurt! I can see those wardrobe pieces mixing and matching with other separates that one could make or buy! She does have beautiful coloring, and I think one could make up one’s own story about her, making her any number of different heritages.
Thanks for the info about that other FB group, too. I did have to search a bit for it, as many RRFF FB groups have a thousand or more members, but knowing that “fanclub” was one word and not capitalized really helped.
Jeanne, hope this cold is short-lived, and you are soon back in good health again!
Hello, dear Charlotte,
So THAT was the green glow I noticed! Haha. You cracked me up. I am glad you found your way to that FB site. Have a wonderful day, you and Ron.
Very pretty doll, Sally, to add to your ever-growing group! Yes, she does remind me of Josefina, like you say, Jeanne! Her clothes are great for mixing and matching other pieces!
Sally, that was really quick the way they responded to you! They seem to be on the ball with shipping!
Take care of yourself, Jeanne!
Thanks, Linda. She certainly is very pretty. You’re right, she came mighty fast. Now if the dolls I ordered, one fully paid and one with a deposit, in JULY would show up, wouldn’t that be nice? Zero correspondence from the selling store in the US and a stock reply from the store in Spain that has had the doll in hand for several weeks now. RR has some “ironing out” to do if you ask me.
Have a great day, Linda.
Congratulations on your win, Sally!! I am happy for you! She is a really pretty doll!
Hope you get to feeling better soon, Jeanne!
Thank you, dear Karen.
Dear Jeanne and sofa sisters,
Because I have a pretty busy day ahead, I may not be able to respond to everyone, so I’m asking for a little forgivness.
Jeanne, I hope you are feeling a lot better. Colds can be so miserable.
FOR THE GOOD NEWS… Freida is apparently going to be released just around Christmas and she IS a core doll. There is no chance anyone is going to lose out on her. She is different with her darker brows that I love, and I also love the dark hair. You won’t be disappointed, so put her on your wishlists.
Have a great day…and I, too, hope everyone escaped the horror of those tornadoes. Good hearing from busy Anne and our Alina late yesterday.
❤️🌺
oh Sally, what a beautiful doll. You described her perfectly. Thanks for everything. 🙂
Thank you so much, dear Alina. Are your granddaughters excited for Christmas? Are you? I hope so, and hope your holidays are wonderful. Sending a hug! 🥰🌺
I just love Freida and her fabulous outfit. So glad she will be coming out soon. Also wonderful that Sally could announce her with such fanfare and glitz. She looks so fun. 🙂
Hope Jeanne’s illness is just a cold and not the virus. Did you get tested Jeanne? Get well soon.
I have a couple of dolls from Russia that have been vacationing in Moscow, and the one now is visiting Poland. Tracking not moving. Wonder if they will make it home for Christmas?
So much to do and so little time. Tis the season for sure. 🙂
Joy, thanks again for your wonderful storytelling skills. We all so enjoyed your doll caper. Sounds like you better keep those track shoes on because you have real potential for a doll deluge in the next couple weeks.
So, do you suppose Alexandra decided to knock on Alina’s door for a little visit with her in Poland before coming to the states?
Well, I think I mentioned that I have a package in Russia that has been there a couple weeks. My last package from Guzel was a couple weeks in Moskow. When it hit NYC, it bounced up and down the east coast 14 days before coming to CO. Our poor postal system is truly overburdened and understaffed. It’s getting pretty grim here in Salida. Hope things can turn around soon.
Surely Freida is one of the prettiest of the RRFFs — she’s a real prize. I love her girl power shirt. And her Favorite Dress is lovely. How close to the same size are the LDs and the RRFFs? Frieda would look lovely in Emmie’s Christmas dress — though who wouldn’t?
Thank you, Marilyn. I certainly endorse the “Girl Power” theme.
I think the best prospects for sharing clothes would come from hand knitted outfits. Even then, the sleeves are a bit short, the pants a bit tight. LD clothes work rather well on the Siblies, but are a bit swimmy around the shoulders, but a little sweater takes care of that. LD shoes fit Siblies perfectly.
Glad you liked the pink dress.
Sally…how lucky to win that doll. I LOVE her and maybe Santa will decide to let me order her…would save HIM time☺️ I love the look of the RRFF but the pale skin tone on so many put me off. They are too pale. I have Bella and she has nice coloring and this one is even better…just perfect! So glad you won her!
Charlotte you are a hoot…that purple skirt has your name all over it!
Not a good time for a cold to hit you Jeanne….take lots of VIt C.
Having 12 Doll Club ladies for lunch tomorrow. Theme is Gnomes…I think they are cute…but it has taken me a long time to decide to like them😵💫🤩…better get busy!
Hi, Kathie!
Thank you; I was lucky indeed! My fingers are crossed that Santa can use his mental telepathy to bring you a Freida!
Have fun with your luncheon tomorrow; sounds like a lot of fun and look forward to hearing about it. 😊
The new doll is certainly lovely 🥰! Congratulations on the win, Sally. I really like the happy faces on these dolls. That’s a very pretty dress you have for her.
Thank you very much, Susette. She really is very attractive; I couldn’t agree more. These dolls are so appealing with their happy faces.
What a beautiful doll!! And such good fortune for Sally being able to participate in such a fun thing. I’m going to check out the Facebook page. I had never heard of it before.
Well, I finally have my tree up and my village is near 100% completion. Now I just have to clean up the mess I made doing it. I probably won’t put up everything around the house I usually do because of time constraints. I have some machine embroidery projects I need to do this week and Sean just reminded me I have to make a big, quilted stocking for Azure. And David returns to PT this week so that cuts into my time. But I have been using the time wisely. I’ve been going through all the catalogs I usually just throw in recycling. Okay, maybe it’s not a wise use of time but it is fun, and I haven’t had time yet to settle on a “portable” project to take with me. Since we still have about two months of this, I really need to do that.
Just a thought, but maybe you can get something cut out and then do the pinning together during a wait. Then coming home and sew those pieces and again next wait time, do any hand sewing and pinning then sew upon return. I actually do that here. I try to sew a bit and then after dinner during tv time, do pinning/handsewing. I always try to have something like the buttons or snaps to do. I also use wait time to cut out paper things that I want to mount on cardboard for backgrounds etc. 🙂
Good thought! I’m sure I have something that classifies for this. I used to do a lot of things while I watch TV but got out of the habit when I was using David’s recliner and he was using the powerlift recliner after his heart surgery last January. His chair was too big and I could not sit up straight enough to do any kind of hand sewing. I felt like Edith Ann in her big rocking chair. When I did Azure’s quilt, I sat on the sofa but that didn’t work well either. Now that David took back his recliner and I have the powerlift it’s a better chair for sitting in to do sewing and needlecrafts so I need to get back to it..
Hi, Barbara,
No more bleeding wounds for David, I trust? You are going to be one very busy woman with him, PT and Christmas, but it was very good to hear you have your tree up and the putz.
Joy had some good ideas for keeping your hands busy during wait times, and catalogues are fun. Or a good book or trashy novel!
Do join this fanclub because there will be more giveaways.
Best to you and David, and I hope that big stocking will fit in your schedule.
Thanks, Sally. Yes, no more bleeds but with both knees compromised things are a bit more “difficult” this time as is the patient. I usually do read a book when I have to wait somewhere, but someone usually ends up starting a conversation. That’s why I thought maybe something to do with my hands might work and I could do both. I’m definitely checking into the fan club.
❤️❤️❤️🥰👍👏🎄
Dear Jeanne, thanks for sharing this lovely message and photos from Sally.
It is wonderful that one of our own Sofa Sisters won this prize. It is also wonderful that the other Sofa Sisters can have their own Freida in the new year. She definitely shows the touch of Dianna Effner. She has the face of a Little Darling Sculpt 3.
It looks like Sally has already begun a wardrobe for Freida. That is always fun to do.
Happy mid-December.
Hello, dear Dorothy!
I am pleased you enjoyed the photos. She is a pretty gal and it delights me that she will be available to all.
BTW, my hubby and I were treated to a few days in Denver this past week at the Brown Hotel. One of the highlights was the high tea. Pretty and so yum, and what a setting! I thought of you. Would you have had one of your dolls on the table with you? 😊❤️
Congratulations, Sally, Freida is truly a lovely doll.. She immediately reminded me of Josefina as well, but I can also see her being American Indian. Her meet outfit has lots of versatile pieces, I LOVE the outfit you have her in and the shoes. She looks so sweet in pastels and I’ll bet she would also look fantastic in any jewel tone besides purple. Love her little ringlet on each side as well. I’m glad she’s a core doll also..
I’m sure she was warmly welcomed by all your other Rubies. How fun to have a new sister for Christmas.
Thanks for the info on the fan club, Might have to join the fan club in the future. Lucky for me that my one and only Ruby is an LE so I can gain entrance.
I had to stop in the middle and post my comment and am just getting back here.
I hope you’re on the mend, Jeanne. seeing Christmas movies is a good plan. i;m actually foregoing some decorating in favor of movies and kitty snuggle time. A simpler tree and fewer things out works better for me this year.
Thank you so much, Laura. She IS pretty and there is a similarity to Josefina, though I think these dolls have a lot more “personality “ with their sweet expressions. (But I had my LONG AG ride for years.)
I recommend joining this FB site. There will be more giveaways in the future and it is fun having company representatives be a part in the discussions.
Simpler decorations and kitty cuddles sound perfect. 👏😊
I love Frieda Sally, congratulations on winning her. Jeanne, colds can be so miserable fortunately they don’t usually last too long, hope you are feeling better.
I guess I thought as long as everyone had a bed to sleep in things would carry on as normal!. Wrong! I think we all have some adjusting to do.
My poor cat (Luna) is still struggling. I am trying to make a routine so at least she gets her breakfast in peace but unless we make sure Gizmo is in Sam’s room in the morning she still won’t come into the house! She did come into the sewing room (which is outside behind the garage) with me yesterday but didn’t really settle for long. At least she is eating now. Unfortunately she is a very friendly cat and not much of a fighter so isn’t prepared to stand her ground and stare the dog out like Snowy (Sam’s other cat) does. Pearl (another of Sam’s) is at least in the house but won’t leave Caitlin’s room but she is like Luna, not prepared to stand up for herself,(against Louis this time). Even Louis is struggling. He has been biting the base of his tail and made a big raw spot. I think it may be stress (on a par with teenagers cutting themselves) since he doesn’t lick it all the time, he hardly touched it yesterday so I hope that he might be getting more used to everything.
I am sure it will all work out eventually!
Oh, Anne. My goodness, your home is a menagerie, isn’t it? It has to be very stressful for the two households to meld, but it does sound like some sorting is happening. I am a bit concerned about the stress on you; please try to set aside some “Anne time” every day to help keep the smile on your face genuine! Sending hugs and prayers for peace and joy.
Hi Anne,
It will work out. Animals just need a bit of adjustment time. I can give you two things that might help. First is Rescue Remedy, which I have personally used for a short time in the past when adding a new kitty. Not each cat has needed it though.
https://www.rescueremedy.com/en-us/range/all-products/rescue-remedy-pet/
I buy it from a pet supply online store, but I’m certain amazon sells it. Is calming drops and can be given to both cats and dogs on their food. It does work!
For cats, there’s also Feliway
https://www.feliway.com/us/Products/Buy-FELIWAY-Optimum-Starter-Set?utm_term=feliway&utm_campaign=Feliway+-+Search+-+Branded+Terms&utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=ppc&hsa_acc=3846559876&hsa_cam=9978332535&hsa_grp=100203692069&hsa_ad=433334597486&hsa_src=g&hsa_tgt=aud-1210121037270:kwd-11456311&hsa_kw=feliway&hsa_mt=e&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_ver=3&gclid=CjwKCAiA-9uNBhBTEiwAN3IlNM1hefUHiiAyoPFMZe6QIkZFZknhbXWXTSp7ckNatDRvGBClZio4NhoCJJIQAvD_BwE
It’s a diffuser that you plug in, but there’s also a spray that you spray on bedding. It mimics a cat’s scent and calms them.
Another thing that will really help is to rub each cat’s coat and the scent gland by their temples with a towel and then rube each cats coat again thus putting each cat’s scent on the others. This will give them a “group scent” and they will feel calm .
Reward with lots of treats ( a bite of cooked chicken will be safe for all) when they are together and try to engage all cats with a teaser toy. A dog can play as well I’ve had both dogs and cats, so I love them both equally!!
Oh dear, I wrote Anne a big, long, helpful reply and it’s gone. I hope it shows up. It had links, so that might be the issue.
Sally, sounds like your trip to Denver was a magical winter treat. Thank you for sharing pictures of your prize! She will be a strong temptation in the new year. I am starting to get a backlog on RRFF. I think my Winter Wonderland is being held for mysterious reasons. My email says she is in Fayetteville and will be delayed due to “operational reasons”. Hmmmm.
Jeanne, I hope you are on the mend.
Debbie
Hello, dear Debbie,
You are so welcome, and thanks, of course, to our dear Jeanne for posting.
I am sure you will need a Freida sooner or later!
I confess ignorance; is Winter Wonderland a special doll? So many things are being delayed which is frustrating, indeed, but I have so much empathy for the poor delivery people working so hard. Personally, I am trying so hard to be patient and empathetic. My “wants” certainly should be a low priority.
How are you doing on the unpacking, my friend?
Sending all my best! 🎈🎈🎈
Sally, Winter Wonderland is a special Bella in a gorgeous blue parka with “fur” trim, over her slacks, etc. And BOOTS!! She’s gorgeous!
Hi Jeanne,
I’m so sorry you are feeling under the weather. Hoping rest and christmas movies makes things better. I left you a comment Saturday and it disappeared into thin air, something I touched on the keyboard most likely. I was so frustrated that I left and decided to come back later but I forgot. I love Emmie’s ensemble, the simplicity of the outfit works and feels very posh! Best of luck at the auction finish line.
Sally,. Congratulations on your win and what a pretty girl she is. You didn’t mention the color of her eyes and I couldn’t really tell by zooming in. Are they light brown? I love the outfit she came in but oh my that dress is sooo pretty on her. Love it!
Hope everyone is well and nearly ready for Christmas.
Hugs
Ingrid
Hello, Ingrid,
It’s late and you may not see this. You’re right, I didn’t mention the eyes. They are a lovely deep brown, much prettier than Bella’s pale ones in my opinion.
Hope you are doing well despite having comments evaporate. That is truly frustrating.
❤️
