Something special this Christmas Eve for the Dianna Effner, Little Darling dolls…

I’m sorry I didn’t get to your comments again today… I was busy… busy as a beaver, you might say! :o) I hope you’ll like what I was working on.

Yep, I was working on another coat… I never thought of this before, but doll coats are the perfect thing to work on when it gets too close to Christmas to list things for sale. The coats can be sold any time and we haven’t even had that super cold weather yet… but I’m sure it’s coming… I’m just doing MY part to make sure ALL the dolls have a chance to win one of my coats. Again, I’m sorry I can’t take special orders on my doll clothes… my life is too FULL right now. I can only make things and list them for sale…and may the best “dolly” win!

Okay, as my title says, I have FINALLY drafted a pattern I don’t have to apologize for… This is totally my design… and not the House of Biscotti pattern. I can show you the differences in the patterns one of these days, if anyone is interested. I had this one almost figured out when Lorna suggested I use the House of Biscotti one I had downloaded in 2018. By the time I found it in one of my pattern notebooks, I had this coat already started with my pattern.

This fabric is a faux mink…but it’s SO real looking, you’ll think it’s real mink! It’s as soft as can be and very light weight. I’ll show you a few pictures of it on Janie… and HOPEFULLY get it listed tomorrow night. (I did stay up a bit past my bedtime to get it scheduled for Ebay.) It will go on Ebay this evening… and end Wednesday night. I did a 5 day auction to get us through Christmas. When it becomes Live tonight, I’ll put a picture of it on the right side bar so you can click it and go to Ebay.

Okay, ready to see it…Janie is looking pretty sweet.

This is how she looked in it when I wasn’t QUITE finished… I tied a scrap around her head to get me motivated that it WAS going to work.

…and this is how she looks in it now…

See how “minky” it looks?

This is the inside…

…and this is what it comes with… plus a sweet treat I found today just for this set!

Here are 2 more pictures…

Well, Merry Christmas Eve, everyone!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Janie’s new coat ensemble is coming along nicely! That really is gorgeous fabric–and very mink-like in appearance! I am loving the sweet little matching hat, too.

Ron did come home today, but the day wasn’t without its adventures–starting at 6 a.m. when he CALLED me!! Now, we have been married 47+ years, and he KNOWS I am never awake at that hour (and he also knows how late I usually stay up!!) but he called, and woke me up. And again at 9:15 but at least I was up and semi-awake by then! I talked to the nurses up there, and the one who was taking care of him said he hadn’t had any of his regular meds while in the hospital, which means no dilantin/phenytoin, and that probably had something to do with his calling me so early–he was somewhat confused. He didn’t Sound particularly confused, but the fact that he called SO early probably was the giveaway in this case. I did bring his regular meds to him and had him take them before we left the hospital. After a couple of brief errands, we came home. We were both exhausted–he says he didn’t sleep at all last night.

This afternoon I had about a 3 hour nap, and felt Much better when I woke up! I’m sure he was sleeping on the sofa during that time, too!

He’s talking about going to the barber shop tomorrow, but we will see about that–it depends on how he feels. And first he has to find the case with his driver’s license, etc. in it. I think it’s still in the car somewhere, as he had it when we were at the drive-thru at the bank, and he didn’t get out of the car until we got home, but we’ve checked his pockets, etc., numerous times and it’s not there.

Wishing all the sofa sisters who so celebrate a blessed Christmas Eve and Day! Thanks again for all the prayers.

Hi Charlotte, I’ve been prayerfully thinking about you all week. I’m happy to hear that Ron is home with you and very happy to read that his veins look so good. I pray that only good things come from the testings he has had. Good for you for taking a nap. It’s your body taking the needed thing, always good if you ask me. Wishing you and Ron all the best for a Merry Christmas and a happy healthy New Year!
      Hugs and Love

      1. HI Ingrid,
I wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas too! You have been in my thoughts lately as 2 of my dear friends have contracted Covid and have lost their taste and smell. I was just thinking of you the other day and wondering if yours had returned. I pray it has.
You are an encourager and I so appreciate you on my blog. May the Lord bless you this coming new year.
        Blessings, Jeanne

    2. HI Charlotte,
I wanted to wish you and Ron a very Merry Christmas and I hope this next new year brings you good news and better health! Your hubby sounds like a dream of a man and you are very blessed to have each other!
      Merry Christmas, Charlotte!
      Blessings, Jeanne

Before I comment on the beautiful fur coat, I just checked the Santa Tracker online, and Santa will be in New Zealand in a few minutes! Get ready, Anne! Hope you are ready for Santa!

That fur does look look like real mink, Jeanne! I should know, because I have my mother-in-law’s mink stole hanging in my closet! No one wears mink stole’s anymore, but it is too pretty to throw out or give away. I have heard of a woman who turns fur stoles and such into teddy bears, and would ,Ike to do that, well, not me, but find someone to do that, if the price isn’t too outrageous!

Janie looks completely adorable, and I love that hat too! That’s fine that no shoes are included, people have shoes for their dolls anyway. This is such a pretty set!

I’m wishing all of the Sofa Sisters, and you, Jeanne, a happy and blessed Christmas, and a healthy New Year!

    1. Hi Linda,
Thanks for always being so faithful at commenting and sending all your wonderful pictures. You keep us guessing as to what you’ll come up with next. I pray you and your hubby have a wonderful new year ahead of you…

I had to laugh at your first line about Santa being tracked. I don’t know if you are getting the winds like we are, but I bet that sleigh is being tossed around tonight in the Illinois area for sure!
Thanks for the compliments on Janie’s coat. She looks like such a little sweetheart standing in it on my cutting table. I just love her in this one! :o)

      Merry Christmas, Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Joy in northern CA

Well, Janie will definitely be warm until Wednesday anyway. 🙂 Great coat for the LD set. It would be perfect for a snowy sleigh ride too.
Glad to hear Charlotte and Ron are both recovering. For some crazy reason, the street sweeper that comes only once a month came down our street at 6:00AM this morning. Not even close to our regular day, but definitely woke us up. 🙁
How fun that Linda checked the Santa Tracker. I’m sure everyone at Anne’s place in NZ will be up and ready to celebrate. 🙂
A few more last minute things here and then lasagna for dinner. Hope everyone has a great Christmas Eve and Christmas tomorrow. 🙂

    1. HI Joy,
I saw a few sleigh’s in the Goodwill and our Thrift shop, but decided to pass as I already have enough props. I thought I’d just let Janie stand alone without anything around her this time.
LOVED your dress for Hannah… I’ll share it soon… I will make a perfect Valentine’s Day dress. They might be poinsettia’s but they still look romantice to me! :o)
      Lasagna sounds wonderful… we’re doing turkey again…
Have a great Christmas, Joy… thanks for all your fun comments and that story of tracking down the mail truck and packages. It was one of my favorites all year! :o)
      Have a very Merry Christmas!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Marilyn in Colorado

It’s starting to rain here — I’ve never seen rain here in December, but we need the water so who’s complaining?
My hands are still too stiff and numb to be allowed to touch Christmas ornaments, but a neighbor brought me rosemary trimmed to look like a pine. She added a string of cranberries and some pine cones — it’s very cheerful and smells wonderful.
My computer keeps showing me pictures of New Zealand. It’s so pretty that if Santa saw it in daytime, he’d stay and set up housekeeping and his workshops.

The coat is charming and I’m so glad that you’ve discovered that they can be your December special. There’s usually an after-Christmas slowdown on Ebay. That might also be a good coat time or even a special order time. Once again you have proven that the details make the difference.

    Merry Christmas Eve to everyone.

    1. Thank you Marilyn,
Thank you for always being so cheerful and my “researcher!” I love that you love to check up on things! :o)
What a wonderful gift from your friend… I bet your house smells like Christmas is supposed to!
My after Christmas coats may be just the ticket to a wonderful end of the year and the beginning of January! So far so good. I just listed Janie’s coat and got a bit within a few minutes of it being on Ebay! Yay!
Have a wonderful and Merry Christmas, Marilyn,
Thanks for being here for all of us!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Sally from Colorado

    Hello, everyone!
Jeanne , this coat set is as dear as can be. Lucky little doll that will get to cozy up in it.
Charlotte, I hope you and Ron get some rest today and tonight.
Barbara, I hope you and David are finding a little more ease, that he is becoming a bit more independent.
Debbie, I hope every last box is unpacked now and that your place is feeling more like home.
Anne, it’s wonderful that the animals are smoothing out and developing their “understandings!”
Marilyn, how sweet of your friend to do that for you. It must smell lovely. Glad you’re getting rain: we’re seeing rain happening on the hills around here but not here in town yet, alas.
Alina, I’m thinking of you and your family.
Jeanne, thank you for sharing all your talents and love.
Everyone, have a wonderful weekend of celebrating Christmas, if you do, and being well and loved. And May a new doll come to everyone this year, and lots of wonderful sewing.
    Sally

    1. Merry Christmas, Sally!
I’m so glad you joined in with the other ladies on my blog. You bring some “fun-ness” to us all… most days! Thanks for that! :o)
Thanks for the compliments on the mink coat… I just received a bid! Hurrah!

I wish everyone were getting a new doll this year. I know I have been blessed with several and am so thankful for the ones I was able to buy! Congrats on your RRFF family. I love looking at everyone’s dolls.

I bought a piece of “Snow Leopard” faux fur that is beautiful… and will probably make something for the American Girl dolls from it. It has the most wonderful inside and I can’t wait to share it!

Merry Christmas to you, Sally! May the Lord bless you this next year!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Jeanne you are on a roll, Cute coat! Doesn’t everyone want a mink for Christmas!
    Have a great holiday everyone!

    1. HI Sylvia,
Thank you again for your wonderful pictures of your dolls and more. Those dresses were over the top beautiful and they looked so pretty the way you had them displayed!
If it wasn’t the end of the year, I could make lots more things… but unfortunately all things must come to an end.. However, just discovering coats as a way to fill in the gap from Christmas till the end of the year and into January, is working well for me…
May you have a wonderful and blessed Christmas,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Sweet sweet coat! Jeanne, your coats are perfect for this time of year! Hope you will do this next year more!
Glad to hear Ron is home. Hope he finds his license.

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.

    1. HI Paula,
Thank you for your sweet presence here on my blog. We enjoy your sweet spriit and your love of dolls. May the Lord bless you this next year with all good things!
      Blessings and Merry Christmas,
      ~ Jeanne

  8. Susette from Southern California

What a darling fur coat 🧥! My mother’s fur stole is comfortable in my closet, too, Linda. Can’t imagine how much it would cost to have it made into a bear! Might be as representative as a stole, so “No, not going there.” Thanks for sharing the darling little coats.

Joy, you know what does sound good? The sound of the trash truck coming around the first time after the drivers’ strike is over! Merry Christmas to all and follow NORAD.com Santa Tracker.

    1. HI Susette,
We sat down and watched an old black and white 1940’s, Jimmy Stewart movie tonight…called “The Shop Around the Corner” and it was funny, after just making Janie’s “mink” coat, how many mink stoles, collars and coats were in this movie. Even the men had mink collars on their coats.
I’m glad you liked Janie’s coat… It just went on Ebay and almost immediately, I got the first bid! Yay!

Susette, may you have a very Merry Christmas and may the Lord bless this next new year for you! Thanks for being a part of my little blog family!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, it is going to be a warm Winter for some lucky Little Darling. The coat is lovely.

Well, wow, it’s Christmas Eve. We are moments away from Christmas.

Holiday blessings to you and to the Sofa Sisters from here in PA.

    1. Hi Dorothy and Merry Christmas to you! (Well, almost Christmas!) :o)
I just broke the news to Janie that she’ll have to give up her coat to some other little girl who needs it more. I told her we’d make another coat sometime and she seemed to take it pretty well. She was probably worried that if she put up a fuss, it might be a bit naughty! :o)
Merry Christmas to you, Dorothy! Thank you for all your do and the kind friend you are!
      Blessings, Jeanne

    Hi everyone,

Popped on to say hello and wish everyone a very happy Christmas. I’m so sorry I haven’t added to the daily chatter but life here is busy. I’m normally reading the blog so late at night it’s to late to contribute. I did want to say I really enjoyed all the Christmas trees and doll photo’s you shared with Jeanne. I loved them all! It’s always fun to get a peek into your world. I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite photo.

Jeanne, I knew you’d get inspired… doll coats! Wonderful! Just perfect! love them all. Keep them coming!

    Merry Christmas!
