One of these days, and hopefully not too far in the future, I am going to have all these jobs I’ve been working on DONE!
In the meantime, you’ll have to endure another dolly-free post. I just HAVE to get these boards finished and put down so I can get my house back in order. I have saw horses set up in my dining room with drop cloths on the floor and painting stuff on my table.
Then in the back of the house, I have fabric all spread out as I’m trying to get my curtains sewn together in between my paint drying.
I made some headway on them today because my curtain ring clips came in the mail today…instead of just clipping them to the top edge of my curtain, I made a little flap that my clips will attach to and only the ring will show on my rod. I just clipped them on a section of the curtains to show you what I meant.
I know this isn’t much, but this was my day. I’ve got to get to bed…

I am picking my jaw up OFF THE FLOOR tonight: “Golden Elegance has NINE bids already!! WooHoo!! I smell a bidding war!!
Well, Jeanne, it’s not like you are just sitting around, watching soap operas and nibbling bonbons! You certainly have a lot on your plate just now, so you go ahead and get that painting finished and those curtains done and hung (nice rings!), and we’ll all sit here and chat.
I had Ron to his GP today for his wellness check so there were some routine things that had to be gone thru; he did fine on his memory and cognitive tests (sometimes he doesn’t), and then we talked about these shaky episodes Ron has at times. The upshot is, that although it Could be anxiety, he (doctor) suspicions there is some physical cause, so is eager for him to see both the cardiologist (next Tues.–there was no way he was going last Friday, so we rescheduled) and the neurologist (early Dec.) and have them do some appropriate testing, etc., before he thinks about anxiety meds.
I explained about his med mishaps (in the last six weeks, he’s double-dosed himself at least twice and has skipped a day or two here and there several times, plus set up his 14-compartment medicine minder incorrectly in a big way one week and long-term in a smaller way), and that I have taken over the med minder and just set out that morning’s or that evening’s meds for him. He has stabilized considerably (brain-wise–the main issue was the phenytoin for his frontal lobe partial seizures) and has started getting his sense of humor back. Next week he is to have his phenytoin level checked, to make sure he is back on track there.
I also had some issues with RiteAid today, which brought me down to that one last nerve, which was badly fraying…and then had to fix something different than planned for dinner tonight because of a problem with one of the ingredients!! And of course it poured buckets while we were trying to get into our car before heading to the doctor’s today.
Oh, yeah, one of Those days!!
Charlotte, we’ve had some of those days when dealing with Walgreen’s re David’s meds not just for David’s by-pass operation and knee surgery, but just normally. That can be totally frustrating. But it sounds like since you took on being the family pharmacist Ron is improving and the future is looking brighter. And doesn’t it always rain when you least want it to. Thankfully so far David’s PT days have been sunny and bright. There is no hope of rushing in out of the rain for us right now.

What a wonderfully productive day you had, Jeanne. Charlotte too, in a whole different way, but you are both moving toward goals.
Jeanne, that must be the prettiest workroom ever. Other people put newspapers under paint cans — you have a pretty ruffled tablecloth. Other people have boxes of supplies — you have lovely decorative items — nice things to rest your eyes on when they get tired of paint. Even those beautiful, fresh looking boards make me feel good. Remember not so long ago when your kitchen was in shambles. Now even “the mess” doesn’t look messy. You and George must be very proud of your work.

Yeah, that’s my dining room subbing for my craft/art/project/painting room! It looks a little better tonight, but when I have to paint the rest of the trim for the hallway, it will look like that again!
I DO remember when my kitchen was a shambles, and it was that way for quite some time… I’m glad we got this sitting room back in shape (almost) fairly quickly. Rebecca and Karn are coming for the week of Thanksgiving and they want to DO CHRISTMAS… yikes! I’m not going to be ready, but I’m going to give it my best shot!
Another thing to add to my list!
We were both looking at the sitting room now and talking about how we walked on that crummy plywood floor for all these years and how much nicer it is now. It is definitely our favorite thing in the room.

Just can’t wait to see the drapes finished. That fabric brings back so many memories…it looks like the wallpaper that was in my parents bedroom growing up…and like a Ralph Lauren bed set we got at an outlet. Used it so long the roses almost were worn off.
Picked the last 3 roses yesterday and they got so tall this year they were caught under the eves of the roof😉 Next year I’m going to try cloning my favorite rose( Double Delight) with this clever gadget that gets filled with soil and wraps around a healthy stem and grows roots inside. Then you snip it off and plant it. Can’t wait to try it.
Have fun getting the trim installed. The end is in sight!

I couldn’t wait to see what the drapes were going to look like either, so I took some big safety pins and pinned them up to the other curtains! I think they are going to be wonderfully cozy! The date on the fabric selvage is 2000, so I probably bought it then… I think it came from Hobby Lobby years and years ago. I just love pretty prints like it! In the dim light tonight, they look very pretty. I was hoping to maybe get them finished tomorrow.
How interesting about the cloning rose gadget. I’ve never heard of one of those! You’ll have to let us know how it works and then send pictures! I know you LOVE your roses!

Well, progress is certainly being made at your place. Get those baseboards on and you can check off another room finished. What about George’s office floor? Is that still going to happen? Can’t wait to see the curtains hanging in the nonsitting room. 🙂 Looks like your clips are pretty substantial unlike those at our cabin that continuously pull loose from the curtains. Ugh.
I’d like to see Kathie’s rose propagation gadget. I would like to get another of my grandmother’s moss roses going for the grands someday. Although, my mom simply popped them into the ground, and they would grow.
Sounds like Charlotte has the meds under control and things are stable. Hope RiteAid rights itself for her too. 🙂

Yes, progress certainly was made today! It’s starting to look like a nice room. We can hardly recognize it from before! I think I’m really going to like it now!
and Yes, George’s office is still getting the new flooring too, but we will probably have to wait until after the kids come home for Thanksgiving (and celebrate Christmas) in 11 or so days! Yikes!
Saturday we are having a Ladies Day Out for some of us from church. I think about a dozen or so… going to a few antique stores, a coffee shop, a restaurant for lunch (called The Vault!) It’s inside a bank, a thrift store, and a few more places. It’s going to go from 9:30 to about 3:00… we’ll stay busy!

I haven’t checked the auction site yet today but it sure sounds like things are moving in a very good direction. You have so many irons in the fire at all times that I don’t know how you keep it all straight. You are very good at multi-tasking.
I want to see Kathie’s rose propagation gadget also. Can it be used for flowers other than roses?
Aside from playing nurse today I have a bunch of office work to do and I need to do some housework that I’ve been putting off. A friend and her daughter are bringing supper tonight. Not that they’re up to doing the “white glove” inspection but I do need to do a little vacuuming and dusting for my own peace of mind. And it’s a PT day.

I thought I had enough irons in the fire too, but I just got another one added. A friend’s hubby needs the sleeves on his suit jacket shortened for a job interview. They are coming over tomorrow! Great… welcome to my sort of messy house… at least now it is…
You have as many irons in the fire as I do Barbara… remember to take time for yourself if you can… sometimes I forget that! It will really help when your hubby can be a little more independent and doesn’t rely on you quite so much… but as long as there is PT, you’ll have to be his driver…

Actually, Charlotte, Golden Elegance now has 10. I think everyone sees it as a season spanning dress. Glad to hear you’re making progress with Ron’s meds, double dosing can definitely cause problems as well as skipping. So good you took over
I’d like to see Kathie’s rose propagation gadget also. My grandmother had the greenest thumb. She could make cutting of anything, plop them in the ground and they would grow.
All your renovations are going to be wonderful, Jeanne, and you should have everything finished in time for Thanksgiving. I. too, noticed your ruffled lace tablecloth under the paint cans. You just need a a silver tray of bon bons at the end as a pick me up.
