Just a snippet of Addy’s new dress…

HI everyone,
Just a bit of news… the gold berries dress I made for Ruby Red Fashion Friends, Sara, sold, but the bidder didn’t pay. She had ZERO feedback and I even told my hubby, I had a feeling she wasn’t going to pay. She didn’t, and even after an email and Ebay sending her a note, she didn’t respond. So I was able to cancel the order to her, and offer it to the second person in line… She also declined to get back with me… SOOOO…. Tuesday night I am going to list it again on Ebay… I’ll put the link to the new listing in tomorrow’s post… and change the link in the picture at the right side bar to link to the auction.

UPDATE:
Someone saw my post about Sara’s dress not selling and they offered me the original winning bid if I would accept it. It was easier for me to not have to relist it so I did! Now I can get back to working on Addy’s dress! I wish I could make a dress a day and get it listed…that way I could get back to the Ruby Red girls again and make them another set of dresses. I REALLY enjoyed making those 3 dresses all at the same time…

It seems like my life is on speed dial… too many things are happening in my days lately and I can’t seem to find a break to get back to what I like to do… sew! But I did tonight… at 9:20, I went in my sewing room and told Addy, “We are going to get started on your dress!” I have been looking at this little vintage pin I bought at an estate sale back in the summer and Addy told me she wanted it to be on her Christmas dress. Well, I had already decided on the fabric and Addy was thrilled. Now it’s not your typical Christmas dress, in green or red, but it does have that feeling like it might be absolutely wonderful! At least that’s what I’m hoping for! Addy told me it was “gold” so I guess it’s Christmas-y after all!

It’s after 1:00 a.m. so I have to hurry just a bit, but I did get a little bit started… I managed to get Addy’s dress cut out and the bodice and collar partly put together. I need to press my collar better and I think I’m going to have to sew the pin “brooch” on instead of having the pin stick through the fabric. It’s super sharp and I certainly don’t want anyone sticking their finger…

My pictures are pretty much the same, only closer and farther away…

I had a meeting this morning, I returned several things from the hayride, Kristoffer came over, we had dinner, Rebecca and Karn called and we talked again for just short of 2 hours!! (They are coming home the week of Thanksgiving! YAY!!

So I’m heading to bed to read your comments before I call it a day…

See you tomorrow
Blessings, Jeanne

I’m sorry to hear that the one sale didn’t go thru for you, Jeanne; it’s their loss!! I’m sure someone will be delighted to get that lovely dress.

Addy’s dress is starting nicely–the fabric is elegant, and the pin picks up the colors in the print. I’m sure Addy will love wearing it!

Ingrid, I replied to your post yesterday, if you’d like to go back and read it. Praying for you and your family….

Jeanne, I cannot imagine bidding several times and going up to over $100 on a dress, and then deciding on not getting it, and not even responding to you! Well, like Charlotte mentioned, it’s their loss.

Addy is going to look wonderful in that striking material and that brooch is just perfect! I think the darker skinn dolls looks so good in bright colors and that perky, white Peter Pan collar just brightens it up even more and shows off her pretty coloring! So this will be a Christmas dress, but could also be a dress she can wear for any occasion, and even an Easter dress! I’m looking forward to seeing what you have in store for the rest of the outfit!

Thinking of you and your husband today, Barbara. Here’s hoping all goes well and he has a speedy recovery. Also Ingrid, thinking of you in your search for a bigger house to help outt with your parents. It’s never fun to see your parents going downhill.

How wonderful that Becca and Karn are heading home for turkey day. Now, to get the floor done in George’s office and everything returned to normal including the guest room. I’ll bet it will be so nice for you to not have to switch rooms during their stay, and it will be like old home week for Rebecca.
Well, that’s how the Ebay ball bounces. So sorry. Hopefully, the pretty dress will sell to someone quickly this time. 🙂
I love the fabric on Addy’s dress. It will be so pretty on her come holiday time or even spring. I don’t think people dressed in red/green anyway back in the day so this dress is perfect. I’m not a fan of the jewelry piece because it seems too big and hops out and distracts even though the colors match. Guess I’d like just a simple narrow ribbon bow and maybe a tiny charm with it. But, that’s just me. It is going to be a lovely outfit for some welcoming Addy girl. 🙂
Hope we hear from Barbara that her husband is in recovery and doing well. Definitely thinking of them both today.
So much going on with everyone about this time. Definitely don’t need to look far for something to do for sure. Don’t work too hard. 🙂

Good the kids both were part of your day and there will be a great Thanksgiving at your house 😍 I always am impressed with the way your dresses fit at the neck and shoulders. This is another perfect one. That fabric is going to be so pretty on Addy and looks great with the pin.
3 dollies are going home to their owners today. I must remember to take before pictures. Two were Miss Revlon wanna-be’s that had hardly any hair…boy what a new wig did for them, and a toddler doll that also had no hair. All clean, re wigged and dressed ,new nylons and high heels they are so cute.
Enjoy your day…sounds like you may even get to sew ! 🤗

I love how Kathie describes rescuing dolls in need of attention. What a nice thing to do.

Lives are changing — Rebecca has moved but is keeping her ties to home strong. Best wishes to Barbara and her husband.

Ingrid, some of us took care of our parents for 3 years and have some good memories from that time, but more important, we have no regrets while other family members do. It’s sort of a last, best gift. It’s not easy, but 10 years later, we still look at each other and say, “We did the right thing. Imagine how we’d feel if we hadn’t.” We mean that we did the right thing for them and for us. Not everyone gets the chance, we’re grateful that we did.

Addy’s dress — the pin is perfect with that fabric, and once you add the fashionable big sleeves and wide skirt, I think the proportions will be perfect. And white collars are always flattering and make the dress look fresh. Good taste runs in Addy’s family.

I’m sorry about the berries dress, but someone is going to be delighted to have a second chance at this one.

Here’s a quote from a doll tee shirt on Etsy:

  6. Praying that David’s surgery goes well, Barbara. Also praying for you, Ingrid. Hope the house hunting goes well and so very sorry about your family coming down with Covid. I can’t wait until the guideline allow me to get the booster.

Well, yay, a Civil War dress again at last. Addy will look lovely. That gold and dark aqua is very pretty..Looking forward to seeing this one,

Ingrid, I do hope your family feel better soon. The Delta variant which is going around now is VERY tricky. We were able to contain the first variation of Covid but not Delta, and even those who have been vaccinated are still getting though not so easily. It does make a difference to how sick you are .those in hospital here except for a very few exceptions are unvaccinated. It’s a virus and mutates constantly so we will need new vaccinations every year just like we do for the flu. Getting the flu one year doesn’t stop you from getting it the next year!

Jeanne I love the fabric on Addy. Looking forward to seeing the dress finished. I still haven’t taken the photos of Sara but finished another smocked dress which Anastasia is wearing. I’m not sure the read plaid works with her red hair though!

I was checking out Trademe which is our local auction site and found a lady who calls herself ‘dressmedolls’. I’m not overwhelmed by her dolly dresses, definitely not up to Jeanne’s standsrd, but she has designed an 18 inch doll that doesn’t have the ‘quarterback shoulders’ of the AG dolls and has a vinyl chest that shows off the neckline nicely . I am thinking of getting one but no idea where she will go at the moment! I will check out the link to TradeMe but in the meantime this is a link to her YouTube video tutorial (good look if you are not a sewer and try to make something from the tutorial!)

In our paper today, there was an article on the bird of the year competition in New Zealand. The winner, a bat! I would like to know more about it.

A big fat, boo and hiss to eBayers who bid and don’t pay up. Let alone decline responding to letters from the seller and eBay. Well, she is cooking her own goose with 0 feedback and her first mark a bad one. Good that it is sorted out and you can return to Addie (1:00 am??? You’re burning your candles at both ends, Chica!) I think this dress looks like it has a fantastic start. Maybe the pin is a tiny bit big, but it goes so nicely, and many brooches were big. I have some pretty large cameo pins. So this doesn’t bother me. So pleased to hear there will be more RRFF dresses in the pipeline. YES! 👍🤩🥰

How wonderful for you all that Rebecca and Karn will come for TG! Won’t Rueben be in Heaven?!? And if George’s floor is done and the guest room set up, you and George shouldn’t have to move out. This is all very, very exciting. 👏

Barbara, hope today went well. David isn’t going to feel very spruce for a bit, but be sure he is a good patient for the best possible results.

Charlotte, best wishes for all of Ron’s upcoming appointments. Is it helping that you are in charge of his meds now?

Ingrid, praying you find the perfect place for you and your parents. Marilyn said it all and beautifully.

Anne, you’re right about vaccinations and staying on top of them every year. Got a good chuckle out of the “football shoulders” comments. Uh-huh. You got that one right!

Kathie! So you fix up dolls and give them away? Is this correct? How very, very kind and generous. A big gold star.

Dolly fever has been rampant here this summer and fall. At least my two Siblies from Russia arrived after a very long trip that had some speed bumps along the way. Very cute additions. One is Natalie like Joy’s, and the other is Dara with the blue eyes and short bob hair. Many of us are hoping that they come out with some new models for the US market. It would be nice to have two boys, not just one. I don’t own any. 😆 Ha!

    All my best to everyone.

    Sally
