Well, that’s certainly a different title, isn’t it? Are you wondering what it means? Let me explain… it’s all about what happened in my day…
A is for an Apple Pie I baked for a friend… he was the one who helped check into my Etsy shop when it was hacked. (it actually STILL is, but he told me what was happening and why Etsy wasn’t able to just go in and fix it!) It’s because Etsy shops are pretty much like little websites and are each individually owned by someone. Just like no one can come in and make decisions about my blog, because I am the administrator of my blog, so the people of the Etsy shops are administrators of their shops. My friend, DV, mostly gave me peace of mind and told me how complicated it is and how it’s not something that happens quickly to get it resolved… Anyway I made him an apple pie for helping (and listening) to me. He LOVES apple pie and I made this one and delivered it to him warm with a carton of vanilla ice cream. I hadn’t even made it back home before he sent me the nicest thank you! Yep, it was worth it to take time and make it for him…
This was it before I baked it…
…and right before I delivered it to him…
I did a blog post on my Apple pie and pie crust recipe. If you’d like to see it click the link below…
Apple Pie and Never Fail Pie Crust Recipe
B is for Rebecca’s Blazer being delivered to the guy who is transporting it to PA. She was desperately trying to find a way to get her Blazer to PA without having to drive it. It needs some brake work and she did find someone who picked it up and will deliver it to her in the morning. She is one happy camper…It’s her baby and she has missed driving it! Here it is loaded on the truck and ready to make the long trek to PA!
Now we have an empty space in our driveway where it used to sit… BOO HOO… when we looked out there and saw it, we always knew she’d come home as long as it was there… but now that it’s gone, it’s a funny feeling… knowing that ALL of her stuff is gone from here! Boo Hoo again! Waaa….
C is for Curtains being decided upon… They are only in the very beginning of being started. I looked and looked and looked and looked on Ebay, Etsy, Poshmark, Facebook Marketplace and just had no idea what I wanted… but then I remembered I had this one big piece of fabric upstairs… and actually thought I had gotten rid of it, but I found it and the green in it goes very nicely with my walls, so I decided since I had EIGHT yards of it, to give it a go and see if I could make something happen with it. It’s a RICHLOOM fabric and generally very expensive. The copyright date on the selvage is 2000… so I will definitely have one of a kind curtains! I first divided it into 3 equal sections because one width of the fabric on each side will not be wide enough to meet in the middle. So that 3rd length of fabric was divided in half up the middle and one section was sewn to the right side piece and the other piece was sewn to the left side piece.
The only problem was I FORGOT TO CHECK THE REPEAT OF THE PATTERN IN THE PRINT! That means I needed to match up the flowers going across the fabric from one side to the other, so when you put them up they will be in a row…not one row of white flowers up near the top and the other side of the curtain with the white flowers 9 inches down… WELL… the repeat is every 13 1/2″ which is a pretty big repeat. There was no way I could get that extra width if I matched them up perfectly so laying them on the floor I am just trying to get them as close to mirror images as possible… If you don’t understand what I mean, don’t worry about it… I’m just going to go ahead and see what happens. Here are a few pictures of my fabric laying in the floor trying to get the designs straight…
My hubby really likes this fabric and even though it has a blue background I think it’s going to work… and make a nice statement in the room. I have a green wicker chair upstairs and a brown wicker one that was my mom’s. I’d like to have a grouping of chairs in front of my window… stay tuned for things to come!
D stands for DONE with the painting in the computer area of the sitting room! I mean ALL done with the walls… no more Comfort Gray color for now…at least that I know of. I still have to paint the baseboard and door trim boards, but that will be pretty easy… it’s just finding a place now! The sitting room has ALWAYS been our project area… we’ve always had paint cans and a table set up and extra boards laying in the corner somewhere… but now it’s getting all “dressed” up and we have to find a new place to paint… Anyway, here is what I did this morning… and finished things up!
The ceiling IS slanted… it’s not your imagination… the roof comes to a point on the outside so it’s reflected the same way on the inside…you can see it in the picture of our roof on the outside. See that little point on the right side?
E is for Enjoying the new room! I’m so excited that it’s on the home stretch of being finished. It’s been a long 17 years of waiting for this to happen… the flooring is more amazing than I ever thought possible!
F will be the Fringe that I put under Addy’s “brooch.” Dorothy suggested it and it was exactly what I was planning to do.. I just kept looking at the dress and thinking the brooch kind of was getting lost in the gold color of the dress. If you don’t know what we mean by “fringe” on the dress, here are a few dresses I did with a similar kind of embellishment…
You might notice Addy’s new dress isn’t featured here… I never made it to my sewing room today! Maybe tomorrow!
G is for Goodnight! I’ll see you tomorrow!
Blessings, Jeanne
I had been wondering what you found out about your Etsy account; thanks for the update. Not the solution you wanted as quickly as you’d have liked, but at least you Know something now, and can have some peace about it. (BTW, your pie looks wonderful!!)
Oh, yes, when that last bit is gone, you know it’s final!! But, of course, you Do know that Rebecca and Karm will be back for Thanksgiving, so that should help!
I think those curtains should look really nice. I do know what you mean about the fabric repeat, though! It’s one of those things that we sewers do have to be very conscious of! Still, “close enough” will probably work fine, and you’ll be the only one who will notice it’s not absolutely perfectly aligned!
Glad to hear you are done with the painting, and starting to enjoy your new room!
Yes, I think adding a fringed piece under the brooch will help to show it off.
Today I got to JoAnn’s, and bought the interfacing, zippers, and hardware for the purses I’m making, and tonight I got the interfacing cut for both purses. I’m very thankful for my rotary cutter, as it would have taken much longer to cut all those pieces with a pattern and scissors!!
HI Charlotte,
Well, Etsy sure isn’t winning the race of getting my shop back up and running. I’m beginning to wonder if it will EVER be up and running again…
I get a text from Rebecca today and she asked if we could do Christmas at Thanksgiving since they will be here then, but NOT for Christmas… this year they will start the flip flop thing where they rotate every other year the 2 holidays. I have to admit I was a bit teary eyed once again…
I “think” I figured out a way to make my design work across the panels evenly… I’ll have to try it to see…and then I’ll tell what I did… :o)
I hope you found some time today to work on your purses… I worked at the pantry this afternoon and was too pooped when I got home to start on anything… Maybe tomorrow…
Thanks Charlotte,
Blessings, Jeanne
Well, Jeanne, at least Rebecca is close enough to see now and then! When our son moved to Kentucky, he was there for 6 years, and, it being 2000 miles away, there was no way we could even do the occasional holiday together! We did go back there during the summer for our first grandson’s 1st and 2nd birthdays, however. But no Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc. He’s back out here again now, so at least we see him occasionally!
Oh, the repeat can definitely be a challenge, but sounds like you will get it together. It will be like you have a new room in the house, but a place to paint/work will definitely be needed. Basement? Attic? Garage? Keep up the good work and on to George’s office floor. I think.
I love all of the dresses with the fringe under their pins. Very cute. That last aqua/brown dress is a knock out! đ
HI Joy,
I don’t think I could have done anything about the repeat even if I HAD remembered it before I cut the pieces… It was just too big of a repeat, BUT, I think I may have figured something out… now my problem is finding the curtain ring clips in Oil rubbed bronze… I think I may just have to use black… The rod is pretty dark… no one would probably ever notice…
I loved that last dress too… It was so pretty on Addy… Cindy sent me that trim from a Civil War shop in PA…
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
I LOVE THAT FABRIC! Matching or not it is just beautiful. It will be such a pretty room. So⊠are the wicker chairs natural or are you going to spray them?
Iâm sewing again⊠for someone elseđłThe High School my g kids attend are always doing plays and musicals and this time they need a long cape( think Queen Elizabeth with a huge red cape flowing behind her) I canât believe they would spend that kind of $ on it even though I wonât charge them it will be pricey. I donât know what play or musical it is either.
Canât wait to see the curtains/drapesđ€
HI Kathie,
Oh, I’m glad you like the fabric…It took me quite a while to decide that I wanted to use it…but it does look pretty good in the room… I think when I get more furniture in here, it will help.
I have a green wicker chair that I spray painted moss green and the other one is a brown wicker that was my moms… If my room wasn’t so crowed right now, I’d bring them down from the attic and see how they looked in here…
Oh my, it sounds you ARE very busy with your sewing right now… a cape, huh? You’ll have to send me a picture of it when you are done…
Thanks Kathie,
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne,
H is for Hallelujah for everything you accomplished
I is for Incredible that you can do so many things at once
J is for Jeanne because you are remarkable
Too clever!!! I love it!
Awww… Dorothy,
You are too kind! I loved that… even read it to my hubby! :o)
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh those pattern repeats! I just hemmed some pre-made drapes for Sean and Dionne and noticed that the pattern wasn’t exactly right from side to side. I told them to lay the panels out and position them before they put them up to make sure they were as close to even as possible. When they laid them out they saw what I meant.. My grandfather used to work for Bancroft Mills in Wilmington, DE. They finished fabric. When they saw something that was off it went into the refuse pile. The employees then got to go through the pile and take what they wanted. My mother, grandmother and one aunt got a lot of free fabric.
I love the fabric and can’t wait to see it become curtains. Everything is coming along so nicely and it’s great you are coming to the end of your to-do list. I know what you are going to do when it’s all finished but does George have a replacement strategy? I guess the outside in summer but winter…
David is doing well. The brace came off this morning so he can bend his knee more easily. PT really worry him out yesterday. He will have it three times a week up until he has the next surgery in early December. Then we will start all over with the PT probably until the end of January. I’m not fond of the expression “new normal” but I think it definitely applies here.
That apple pie has my mouth watering but It looks too pretty to eat.
Chilly day here but bright and sunny. It’s been so gloomy for the past few days I’m sure glad to finally see the sun.
Good grief! It’s supposed to say PT “wore” him out.
HI Barbara, I was thinking of you as I was cutting my fabric, knowing that you had just been working on drapes… It’s not my favorite thing to sew… not enough creativity for me…
Oh how fun to go through the bin and find “mistakes” and take them home and be able to use them! or at least remake then and then use them! :o)
It seems like we are getting to the end, but we still have LOTS we could do… it’s just a question of will we? At least for now, the plan is to get this sitting room back in order before the kids come home for Thanksgiving…
I hope your hubby continues to do well in PT… My hubby had to go 3x a week too when he had his knee surgery… Since he had both of his knees done at the same time, I was pretty much a full time nurse for him… from being his chauffeur to his cook and his exercise coach!
It was chilly here this morning… frost on the windows and it got down to 32 last night… BRRR….
Thanks Barbara,
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, your beautiful ( and probably VERY tasty) apple pie had my mouth watering! That was so very sweet of you to bake that for your friend!
And Rebeccaâs Blazer! Silly me, I started reading it with the idea it was a blazer that your wear, like a jacket, and had no idea why she needed someone to drive it to Pa. so she could have the brakes worked on! The picture helped a lot!âșïž
The fringed material around the brooch will be just lovely and yes, will show off the brooch better. Canât wait t see the finished creation!
It is so nice for you to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel and to see the fruits of your labor with all the work you and George have done to your house! It looks like this upcoming holiday season is going to be an exciting start to the new year coming up! So much to look forward to!
HI Linda,
DV LOVES apple pies so it was only fitting that I should make him one… He thinks I’m a great cook… so I try to make him happy! :o)
Sorry about the Blazer confusion… Karn sent me a picture this morning of her getting “reacquainted” with her Blazer… she LOVES that car and has missed driving it. They took it around the neighborhood, he told me…
I haven’t made it into my sewing room again today… busy around here… so that fringe is still waiting to be put on…
When I think about all the house projects we have done since my mom died, it amazes me… my sewing room, Rebecca’s room , the kitchen, our bedroom, the roof, the sitting room and soon, my hubby’s office… my goodness… that’s a lot in 2 years… makes me wonder what we did those 16 years up till now… but we were busy…
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Mmmmm, that pie looks mighty fine. What a great âthank youâ. I truly hope the Etsy fandango finishes soon. Yikes!
Yup, those necklines are exactly what we were talking about. Whoopee!
The floral fabric is going to look so pretty on those walls, Jeanne, and if you get even close on the repeats, you can congratulate yourself. Most people wonât be looking. Maybe Reuben, but he wonât be very concerned. đđ¶
Hope everyone had a fine day. I finished dressing my LDs, adjusted a shelf to accommodate more RRs, and have a box of my doll clothes I have sold ready to go out tomorrow. Nice to see some things go to a new home that will appreciate them.
BTW, does anyone know about the AG doll Estelle at Costco?
Dear Sally, please share photos of your Little Darlings. I always love to see those (smile).
Dear Dorothy,
Youâre so sweet. I will try to herd those girls for a pic or two this weekend. Of course, you have my permission to get my personal email from Jeanne, and then I can send you pics from time to time, and you can send me your pics. Itâs nice for Jeanne to have some âfillerâ pics for desperate occasions, but maybe not everyone is as enthusiastic to see pics from the same people often.
Two of the girls are still in their previous outfits because I love them both so much. But the other 11 got new duds!
Hope you are doing VERY well and still doing tea parties. â€ïžđ§âïžđ„§
Dear Sally, okay. Thanks.
HI Sally,
I wish the Etsy “fandango” would hurry up and get resolved too! I’d like to put some more things in there… but wonder if it will ever be my shop again… :o(
I worked on the curtains a little bit before I had to go to the Food Panty this afternoon, but didn’t get as much done as I would like to have… oh well… I did pin them up to the rod I already have up there and they looked really pretty with the light shining through the room and them along the sides of my window… :o)
congrats on getting some dolly clothes shipped off to someone who will be over the moon with them… You did good! :o)
I don’t know a think about Estelle at Costco… maybe someone else does…
Thanks Sally,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a lovely gift for DV! I can picture him eating that one very tiny slice at a time!
HI Joy,
I was just wondering today, how much of that pie he has left… It smelled so good when it was baking… I would have eaten the whole thing in one sitting… with ice cream on the side! :o)
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
