A birthday behind me and a wedding ahead…

Thank you all for the sweet wishes and cards for my 65th birthday…turns out it was really good!! Some friends took us to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, for Chinese Saturday night. Then we went to a Mexican restaurant with our kids Sunday. It was a little bittersweet as we realized it would be the last weekend together with Rebecca as a single. This time a week from now she will be a married lady…kind of hard for me to process.

I was given this little set of kitties to crochet from a sweet friend… obviously, I won’t be starting it this week, but doesn’t it look like a fun winter project? I also got a Hobby Lobby card and a Joann’s card and a TJ Maxx card AND a Dairy Queen card!!! Sally, I see a Peanut Buster Parfait in my future! But not this week…I’m having wedding cake!! :o)

My weekend was busy with lots of other things too…we “almost” have the hallway finished. I had to put it on the back burner for a couple days until I see if I have time to finish it. If not, it still looks pretty nice!

I got Karn’s suit pants hemmed. Yay!! I altered a shirt for my hubby and Rebecca and I got the food ideas for the reception finalized. We gathered up the things she wanted for her favor bags and now they are complete. I finished her Just Married and Cards sign. The “Just Married” sign will be tied to the back of the golf cart when they are riding from place to place getting “scenic” pictures taken. The weather looks like it will cooperate…no rain in the forecast and the temperatures are supposed to be in the upper 80’s “instead” of the upper 90’s with triple digit heat indices.

I know it’s short, but that’s it from me today…HOWEVER, you better come back tomorrow and see WHO got a new dolly!! It’s a wonderful story with lots of pictures!!!

See you tomorrow!!
Blessings, Jeanne

Sounds like you had a wonderful birthday, Jeanne, and lots of special gifts! Yes, those kitties will be darling when they are done! And I do love gift cards. I still have one for Barnes & Noble that Ron gave me for our anniversary in May, and I haven’t had a chance to get in their and use it since then!! That’s how “interesting” my summer has been!

Looks like you are chipping away at the pre-wedding “to-do” list!! The signs look wonderful.

For all of you who commented about the tiny doll I sewed for, thank you! At the end of the replies on that entry, I have posted answers to questions that people asked and replies to specific comments from specific people. Again, thanks.

I’m so happy that you had the time for YOU, Jeanne, to celebrate your birthday! How fun to be able to share it with friends AND family!

I love the”Just Married” sign! How pretty those ribbon streamers will look as they flutter along the drive through the golf course, and so original too! This is going to be a wedding like no other!

You are now in the home stretch and things are looking good, clothes ready, house almost there, weather looking good, and a million little other things getting done! Just think, next week at this time, it will be over! Enjoy and treasure this week, Jeanne.

Happy Birthday Jeanne! I am sorry to have missed the date to send wishes, we had a hurricane barreling down on our homeland. I am just a couple of years past your monumental birthday but it will be okay, even the Medicare bit. Oh, and the wedding, been there too recently. Lifting you up in prayer for this week of emotional milestones. I am happy for your weather forecast and for the excitement of the upcoming week!

    Prayers and Best Wishes,
    Debbie

Three cheers for the weather forecast!! And on to the finish line. All of the little details look
like fun, especially now that Karn will have pants to wear. 🙂
Can’t believe you found time to tackle the hall, but it will look so nice and blend in with the two rooms.
Sounds like a nice way to spend your birthday and the gifts perfect. Those crocheted kitties look adorable. Get right on that Jeanne. Ha ha
Here, I was able to cut out another dolly dress. We might have enough to go around for the RRFF by Thanksgiving, if I concentrate. I’m so slow.
    Have a great week everyone.

What a fun birthday after all, Jeanne! Hurrah! And I very much doubt you feel any different than you did the day before your 65th. It really isn’t so very bad after all, my darlin’!
Looking at the colors of the kitty kit…hmmm. Look like Rebecca wedding colors to me. However, those little cuties must wait, but we will be looking forward to seeing them done some day.
Wonderful that your sweet signs are done, beautifully, of course. Seems like you all are staying very much on top of your schedule and with cooperating weather, this is going to be one star spangled day for all of you.
VERY interested in hearing about a new doll. Nothing like a teaser line, Jeanne. My Miss Rebecca arrives today. Hubby changed his mind about hiking, so as long as the carrier arrives before my first afternoon appointment, it’s looking good to get her in without any “looks” or shaking of head.
SO pleased you got a DQ card. The others are so thoughtful and fun for you. This one, however, is super yummy! 👍🍦
    Have a wonderful one, everybody!
    Hugs,
    Sally

    1. Hi Sally,
Good luck on getting Miss Rebecca inside without issue.. Is she American Girl Rebecca or another doll line?

      1. Sally from Colorado

Hi, Laura…thank you so much! Ha! Got her in and an outfit with 40 minutes to spare! This Rebecca is a RRFF special and came from France. She is my first doll to come from this line of dolls with only the underpants on. The rest of the clothes are separately bagged to avoid any discoloration. She comes with two wigs, a short blondish wig and a very long straight red one parted in the middle. Neither wig is on her head yet. I found some really darling discontinued Monique wigs for these dolls so now I don’t have to do any glued-on wig removal. Looking forward to “flipping wigs!”
Have a wonderful day, Laura, and thanks again for the good wishes. They helped! 👏🙏👍❤️

        1. Oh, she’s lovely, Sally. I found her on Poppets and Posies. She comes with a darling dress and pinafore. I love pinafores on little girls. Made my daughter wear quite a few as a child. At least a doll can wear a lovely dress forever.

Hi Sally, My Rebecca from France arrived last week – scantily clad and bald! I did not have any idea of why she wasn’t wearing her outfit but your explanation makes perfect sense. I haven’t tackled the wigging just yet. Will you use one of the wigs provided or one of the Monique wigs that you ordered?
          : ) Debbie

          1. Sally from Colorado

            Hi, Debbie,
It has been a stupid day here, so I haven’t gotten around to looking much at the doll or taking things out of the box. But to answer your question, I intend to try every one of the 7 wigs to see what I like best. Hope putting the wigs on and stabilizing them won’t prove challenging. Is your doll out of the box and dressed?
She’s pretty, don’t you think? Someone said she is painted just like Charlotte but with freckles. I’ll check that out myself tomorrow.
Have fun playing with your new girl, Debbie!
            ❤️

  6. So glad you had a wonderful birthday, Jeanne. Those crochet kitties are just adorable and will be wonderful dolly props and sewing room decor when finished. Winter is the perfect time for cozy projects like that. Count me in as loving gift cards. They really are thoughtful if they are to places you love anyway l as you can buy just what you want
The Just Married and Cards signs look great. You found just the right fabrics to pick up all the colors in the bouquet plus blue. So good to hear that the weather is looking perfect for Rebecca’s special day.

  7. Barbara in SE Texas

I love the “Just Married” sign. What a wonderful idea to ride around and take pictures. I hope we’ll get to see them. And the “cards” sign was very nice too. This wedding sounds absolutely wonderful and so relaxing. I know it’s been a quick put together for you but so much needs to be done at the last minute that the biggest difference between Rebecca’s short engagement and a long one is the time does drag on while “waiting” to finish up so many of the details. I was fortunate. Both of my children had short engagements but I talked to other mothers who endured sometimes a two-year waiting time and they would love to have changed places with you. They said they felt like they couldn’t do anything else in the mean time just in case they were needed for wedding details.

Sounds like you had a wonderful birthday all around (dinners and gifts). I forgot to add my best wishes the other day so I’ll do it now. Happy, Happy Birthday!!! And many, many more!

Best luck to Sally in her attempt to sneak in a new family member.

And Joy, even though you say your are slow you are way ahead of me in the sewing department.

Well David and Sean just showed up for lunch so I guess I must go. I’ll check in again later today.

    1. Sally from Colorado

Hi, Barbara! Thanks very much for the good luck wishes. They worked!!
I love that you get to see Sean so often and having him to lunch with your hubby. I also loved what you wrote about your DIL who has overcome a lot of trust issues. I think that was you. Anyway, that really touched my heart. Have a wonderful day, Barbara, and thanks again.
      Hugs
      Sally

  8. Susette from Southern California

Nothing like starting to crochet with something easy. NOT! Round balls and tiny critters with legs and arms and tails. Definitely for this winter. They sure are cuties!

So glad you had such a happy birthday and can kind of relax with everything under control for the wedding. Ready for company!

  9. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, Happy Birthday! I am glad you marked the occasion. I know you have so much going on right now but it is important that you have some special time for yourself. And you did!

65 is a landmark year. It does bring about contemplation. It’s a time to celebrate accomplishments and make plans for the future. Here’s to a wonderful year!
