Did anyone remember I was making a dress for Samantha?

Too many things got in the way of getting American Girl, Samantha’s, dress set finished…but I worked like crazy this evening and got her purse and thigh highs made. Now its just a matter of getting some decent pictures and it will be ready for Ebay… finally! Sorry about the delays! :o)

Here are a few pictures of the last 2 pieces to the very pretty set… Remember Marilyn picked the name for this one… Buttons and Bows!

This is something I am working on for a contest I want to enter… I’ll just show you my pieces and one pose I have my girls in, but this isn’t the picture I’m using… I was just practicing… I have to get this photographed in the next day or two or I’m going to run out of time to get it entered… I’ll tell you more about it tomorrow…

Well, that wasn’t nearly as much of a post as I thought it would be, but that’s all I have… so I’ll see you tomorrow…

Night,
Blessings, Jeanne

Samantha’s outfit is beautiful! I’m sure there are going to be some dollies begging their mommas for a new purple dress!

Good luck on the contest! Those outfits are so cute!

We had our hottest day of the year so far out here–89°! I know it doesn’t seem like much to people in AZ and CA, but in the Seattle area, it makes the news when it gets that hot before the 4th of July!!

I have cut out a dress for Maya, but that’s as far as I’ve gotten thus far. Hoping for some sewing time this week!

By the way, I have responded to both Barbara’s and Alina’s facebook requests!

    1. Hi Charlotte
I hope you’re right about some dolls asking their moms for this dress… now to get it listed…
It was just a couple of quickie rain coats for the girls but I think they will work… now to get that finished too!!

Yesterday and today the temps have been relatively mild but I heard on the weather last night, the weekend coming up is supposed to be oppressive! I don’t like oppressive!!

I hope you get to your sewing…
      Blessings, Jeanne

Yes, Jeanne, I DO remember Samantha’s beautiful “Buttons and Bows” dress! What a darling set, and that purse is just the touch it needs, along with the white thigh highs! This is a winner for sure among all the Samantha owners, plus a lot of other doll owners, and the dolls too! Cecile would love this! She wears the Samantha clothes here at my house, since I dont’ have Samantha.

Oh, I see that you happen to have Molly’s red umbrella for your contest entry! What a cute raincoat set! Good luck on getting it done!

What a relief yesterday was with the cooler temps. Aren’t you glad your new roof is on after all that rain we had Sunday night? I think last week was perfect timing for you get get the roof done, although I’m sure you wold have wanted cooler days. You can’t have everything, but now you DO have a beautiful new and leakproof roof! What could be better?

    1. Thank you, for your kind comments on Samantha’s dress, Linda. She looks so pretty in this color… and style.

Actually that was an umbrella and boots set I bought years ago and didn’t remember I had them until I looked in my shoes drawer…it was way at the back… it was just a knockoff set for the 18″ dolls, but it’s hoping to work for these girls. I hope… I hope I can get the pictures I want…
We are so blessed to have our new roof on…we had a few sprinkles. But nothing heavy enough to test out all the areas it leaked and also the rest if the J-channel we put in ourselves along the bottom of the eaves. I think Friday rain is supposed to be heavier…
      Thanks Linda

Oh, Samantha looks so sweet in her new dress. All ready to attend a special birthday party in the park. Love Marilyn’s Buttons & Bows theme.
I know which contest you’re working on. With all of the sewing going on around here, I haven’t entered yet either. Maybe. Maybe not. 🙂
So, if you’ve had rain, how was the leak test? Hope there were none. 🙂

    1. Hi Joy
Thanks for the compliments on Samantha’s dress! I like this on her very much…and I like this Samantha doll the best. She has such a sweet face and NO football shoulders!!

I wondered if you might do a photo set up for the contest… I hope to get my final picture done today… too many things all at once here for me…
      Thanks Joy

  4. Dolls again! Hurray, hurray!! The purple and lavender outfit is so pretty on Sam. I am intrigued by your contest entry.

We had rain on Sunday evening, too. The three of us were eating in our gazebo/she shed when the rain came. I love sitting out there during rain. It has windows on all sides that open. The east and west walls are all screen but the awnings keep the rain out. Memories!

    1. Hi Julia
Yes, dolls again! Hopefully, more often now!

Have you shown us a picture of your she shed? If not, could we see it!! That would be lovely to see the rain coming down as you sit in the middle of it, without getting wet…
      Thanks Julia

Yes I do remember this beautiful purple dress. All the pieces make a lovely ensemble. The purse is so cute. I just know this one is going to do well at auction. I love your potential contest entry. The raincoats are so cute on both the girls. Aside from your blog I seem to not spend enough time on dolly sites because I’m always missing contest and sew along opportunities. I have access to all the sites but don’t seem to check in enough. I have LD and Meadow items that post on my Facebook page but don’t check that often enough either unless I get notifications.

I’m not sure what I do with all my time, but I don’t seem to sit around doing nothing. I probably have my fingers in too many pies. One of my latest indulgences is the wonderful interactive Country Cottage from Jacquie Lawson. You play games to get to 500 points per day and then you can purchase items to decorate your cottage – inside and out. It’s what I do to wind down at the end of my day while I’m waiting for David to come up for dinner and I don’t have time to get started on anything else. But that only takes about a half hour. I’m nearly finished with my choices for the inside and outside of the cottage and will soon be waiting on a couple other add-ons that will be coming – one is a kitchen. In the beginning I thought it was just a “clean up” of a cottage that had not been lived in for awhile. After I did all the clean-up the next phase kicked in where you get a catalog to pick a new sofa, flooring, etc. I was totally surprised by that. I have a Punch Home Design program and love it. Aside from having fun designing and pretend building, I do use it whenever we do remodeling around here so virtual design is a fun thing for me and it only costs virtual cash.

You mentioned your AG doll needing to have her legs tightened. Both my MAs Gracie and Natalie need their legs tightened big time. I remember you did a tutorial once on doing that using rubber bands but I don’t know what size rubber bands to use. Right now they both are wearing tights because it’s the only way I can keep their legs from flopping around, but they told me tights are getting pretty hot for summer and they don’t want to wear them with shorts.

I see your roof got trial by fire. Hopefully all was well.

    1. Hi Barbara
I seem to gave my fingers in too my pies too… in the next few days I have to get these rain coats picture done and posted, Samantha’s dress set listed on Ebay, my patriotic slips listed in my Etsy shop, I have to help coordinate a get together at our church and make food for a lady at our church who is moving to Georgia, I have to finish getting my sewing room back in order, Rebecca has about 3 alterations she’d like me to do… I told my hubby I’d help him stain his red shed in the back yard, I have to fill out a Medicare form….is that enough pies???
I used Goody hair bands to tighten the legs on the AG dolls… does Gracie and Natalie have soft bodies like the AG dolls,? If you type in easy leg tutorisl in the search bar that tutorial should come up. Oh wait…I did a tutorial on Patsy Tonners loose legs one time using rubber bands… that is probably the one you are thinking of…ill see if I can find it…
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Hi again Barbara
If you go to my little search box on the right side under the Ebay pictures and type in fix floppy doll legs, you’ll see how I fixed Patsy’s legs with rubber bands…
        Hope it helps…
        Blessings. Jeanne

    2. Charlotte Trayer

Barbara, I have the Country Cottage, too, but haven’t gotten quite as far as you have, as some days I don’t have time to play! I have the outside cleaned up, and have started on the inside. Nice to know there’s more things coming up!!

  6. Marilyn from Colorado

Buttons and Bows is lovely, and would be nice photographed outside with the gazebo as distant background, if possible. It would be lovely on Cecile — probably worth trying on Addy for a different look.

The raincoats are cute and your red-head sits so well — she must be a delight to pose. Having each doll with her hand on the head of an animal works nicely.

The reader who asked for no more bugs may not be thrilled with the raincoats, but maybe ladybug prints are ok. The coats are so cheerful and the red hairbows add to the perkiness. No gray days for those 2 in spite of the rain.

    1. Thanks Marilyn,
I have worked on taking pictures of the two little imps outside and my hubby was sprinkling them with rain, but he was very cautious and didn’t get as much rain around them as I would have liked… but I guess it’s okay…
Now it’s time to turn my attention to Buttons and Bows… but I have to meet someone this evening to go over some food ideas for a party Saturday night…

Marilyn, I wanted to thank you for the very kind comments you left the other day about my life and what I do… I was so blessed by what you wrote!! It brought tears to my eyes and I am so humbled that you think that way… and many other seconded it too… I want to be a light shining in this world, which can sometimes be very scary…anything I can do to brighten someone’s day is an accomplishment I enjoy… I am just an ordinary person who loves what I do, loves to share what I do, and loves people most of all!
Thank you very much for those words… I will always try to live up to what you wrote…
      Blessings, Jeanne
