Today was super busy for me again… seems like I’m on a roll with busy days lately… the roofing guy came by and talked with us for over 2 hours, then I had to help my hubby with something… after that it was almost time to head to the Food Pantry and I was there 3 hours… Kristoffer called and asked if he could make dinner for us! Absolutely… one thing I didn’t have to do…he stayed late talking with my hubby about the chimney project and more… and now it’s too late to start anything… BUT… Linda saved the day for me… she sent some pictures of her girls dressed up for Easter and they look as sweet as always… this is what Linda had to say about them…
“Jeanne, here are some Easter pictures you can use if you have the space! Like always, I don’t want to hog your blog, but thought the ladies might like to see what is going on here at my house! I do need to get a new camera! The pictures are not the quality I like them to be, even with editing, but here they are!
First the 40’s girls. Ruthie, wearing the new “Dot Dress” from AG, and Susan, and Molly are visiting with the Easter Bunny.
(If you click on any picture it will enlarge!)
Next, I have decorated Molly’s table with Easter things. The Easter Bunny always left our baskets on the kitchen table for us to find when I was little.
Next, Cecile, and Felicity in their Easter finery, and Felicity’s table all ready for Easter breakfast.
Last, the modern girls, without hats and gloves, like now! Doesn’t Betsy look cute? She’s waving to you!
Do you see me, Betsy? I’m waving back at you too! You look adorable, just like all your sisters! :o) Happy Easter Girls!
Blessings, Jeanne
Linda, your girls all look so pretty and festive in their Easter finery! I love how you have set up Molly’s and Felicity’s tables, too. Just so much fun to look, and so much to see!
I actually did get some pictures taken Wed., and will send them along to Jeanne in the next few days–of my Ruby Red Fashion Friends, and of the newer Leeann dolls I have (Leona with the ballet body, and Leneda–medium tone). Leona was the one I ordered a while back, when “dolly fever” hit some of us pretty hard! I have pictures of her in her ballet outfits, and also of her and Leneda in dresses I made for them (same with the RRFF).
Today Ron had his second vaccination; he seems to be doing fine, no side effects thus far.
Tomorrow I’ll be putting together a brunch casserole to bake on Easter morning. For the first time in about 15 months, our church is having a “carry-in” meal (as our pastor calls potlucks)! We’ve planned and then canceled or changed them before this, just not wanting to take a chance, but things have improved enough and we’ve moved ahead another notch, so he thought it would be fine. Can’t wait!!
These days do make us appreciate the small things like “carry-in” meals. We have not had an occasion for this at our church yet but the prayer books and hymnals are back in the pews, we can now take the wine by intinction, we’ve gone from 50 max attendees to 100 in the pews, and there will be an Easter egg hunt for the kids this year with no masks outside. Last year everything was closed and, except for the few people participating in the service, everyone else was on Facebookl. While we’ve been able to attend church the past few months, all fellowship has been and still is on hold. I’ll be glad when we can have coffee hour after church again.
Barbara, our church (Baptist) doesn’t use wine, but we have gone to a grape juice and bread setup where the juice is in a little plastic cup, sealed, and the little wafer is sealed on top of it. They communion tray goes around once, each one takes one, we open the first seal to retrieve the wafer and the second for the juice. It works out very well.
I grew up in the Lutheran church, and they did use wine there; I never cared for the taste of it, though, so using juice is just fine with me!
HI Charlotte,
I’ll be watching for your pictures and share them with everyone!
I’m working on my Easter dinner too… it’s just going to be us and the kids… oh, and Reuben!
Thanks so much,
Blessings, Jeanne
I “saved” you, Jeanne? Well, good, we wouldn’t want to lose you! Thank you Charlotte, for the nice comments. I had fun, as I always do, trying to get my dolls dressed and figure out who wears what. Since I keep the tables out, it is always fun to change those too, and keeps me up to date on what I have!
Today both Michael and I receive our second Covid shot, and hopefully in two weeks things will get better and I will feel more comfortable going out. We hope to book a slot to see the Mo. Botanicla Garden soon! We haven’t seen our daughter and her family except for a few peeks through windows, for a year, although they live just 15 minutes away! Easter will be just the two of us, and guess what? No big ham dinner! We will barbecue! The weather will cooperate this weekend, so barbecued bratwurst it is!
Happy and blessed Easter to each and every one of you!
Thank you again for the pictures, Linda. My “yesterday” was just too busy to suit me and even though Kristoffer cooked dinner, I still ran out of time.. .
Your girls always, always, always look so sweet and it shows how much time you take setting things up.
Thanks for being such a faithful and loyal reader and “contributor!”
Happy Early Easter,
Blessings, Jeanne
Linda, it’s always a pleasure to see your doll family dressed in their finery!
I had my 2nd vaccination Thursday. Besides a sore arm, which I got with other flue shots, I was wiped out yesterday and slept most of the day. I have Easter food to put together today. We are taking it to our son tomorrow and doing it there.
Thank you so much, Julia! Just got back from getting my second shot, and my arm is a bit sore, no problems with that!
HI Julia,
Have a wonderful dinner with your son tomorrow… I’m sure you will!
Blessings, Jeanne
Linda is a Champion Doll Dresser. Can we come up with a better title for her skills? Every dress compliments the doll perfectly and the dresses are a study in fabric design. Betsy certainly is a winner. She has a wonderful wardrobe. The accessories are so complete too. Thanks for sharing your pictures. Happy Easter, everyone 🐰🐥🐓🌺🐣🐇🌷
Good luck with the roofing decision. 🍀
Thank you, dear friend!
HI Susette,
We’ll have to all put on our thinking caps and think of a name for Linda… she does do a great job and it entertains us more than she’ll ever know! :o)
The roofing decisions are like me asking everyone which lace to use, or what color shoes the doll should wear… the opinions vary and are all good, but only ONE can be chosen… yikes… this is taking more thought than I imagined…
Blessings, Jeanne
Linda, I always love seeing your displays. I love your table sets and how you decorate them. Your dolls look beautiful in their Easter finery and always look so “appropriate” according to their eras. Mine are all modern era. Makes it easier for me. Betsy’s outfit is lovely. I have a Betsy and they always do look so cute in whatever they wear. My Betsy and her cousin Taylor Jane have matching dresses in different colors this year for Easter. Where did you get the tiny Easter eggs? I’ve been trying to find some to do a dolly Easter egg hunt. The ones I find are either too small or too large.
Jeanne, I hope all went well with your roofing contractor and you got some good news out of it. My son cooks too. He developed this interest as an adult. Sure wish he’d had the desire when I was working. It would have been nice to come home to a prepared meal every now and then. Both of my kids like to cook and are good cooks but never cooked when they were home. I don’t like to cook. I used to think it would be great to have cooking as my hobby. Then I could have indulged it every day. Working full time I rarely got to the sewing machine once the kids were older and involved in activities.
All my dollies now have Easter frocks, most made by me but some made by others, and I will be doing the Easter tea photo shoot this week. I’ve been planning to do this for the past couple years but I kept getting new additions to the family who didn’t have an Easter outfit. I kept running out of time. This year I think I’ve got everything under control. Now to see what I come up with.
Barbara, are you trying to give me a big head?☺️ I have the time and space for the dolls, plus it is fu for me to fix them up, so I really have no excuse not to!
I got the tiny eggs, here and there, Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, Joanne’s and even the grocery store! They have a floral shop inside the store.
Since your dollies now have their Easter frocks, how about sending Jeanne some pictures? We would love to see them!
Oh, Linda there will be pictures! LOL But I don’t want to be a blog hog either so I must plan carefully to get the most dolly girls in the fewest pictures because you know they all want to participate. I’ve been wanting to do this for a couple years. It will probably take me a couple days to put it together with changing and rearranging but it should be fun.
I forgot to mention the adorable wringer washer. My mother had one like that.
That’s from Kit’s Washday Set. My grandmother had one too!
Oh, and I had a toy one, and got into trouble washing my doll clothes in it in my bedroom, with water, soap suds, and wet doll clothes! Even put a wash line in the room! Those were the days!
Hi Barbara,
Kristoffer made sauerkraut and sausage and baked chunky potatoes… it was good, but a bit on the salty side for me… then we had a piece of key lime pie… that made up for the salty taste in my mouth! :o)
I hope you’ll share your Easter shoot pictures with me so I can share them with everyone too!
Blessings, Jeanne
Well, even if the roofer from yesterday isn’t chosen, I’m sure you gleaned a lot more ideas/information from his two hour visit. Always nice to get a different perspective. Also sounds like Christoffer has some ideas to throw down the chute. (The brick chute you might be building. ) 🙂
A big thank you to Linda for the fun photos. Whenever I see hers, it gives me hope that I too might be able to have a place set up for my dolls that would work for photos. What an eagle eye to keep up with new AG outfits. The dots outfit is sweet, and the baskets and other props make the photo such a special Easter shot. And then the kitchen table. I always love seeing Linda’s kitchen. So wonderful to own, but the way the table is set up is a designers touch. The layered table linens are so pretty and the props displayed so well. That little blue basket with the bunnies is adorable. Felicity’s table is also a dream. Love the AG pink china and the sweet decorations. All of the girls are dressed so nicely. Love seeing the outfits. And those perfectly scaled Easter baskets, my favorite, filled with goodies are another decorators touch. You’re outdone yourself Linda. Thank you so much for sharing. 🙂
So happy to hear that many are on their second covid shot. They are opening up here to those in younger categories too so hopefully soon everyone that wants to be will be vaccinated. Amazing to think that another horrific disease has a cure. Remembering those in the past like diphtheria, measles, chickenpox, polio and others that are now history due to smart scientific research.
We’re going to see the grands tomorrow. So excited. Making broccoli casserole this morning while other person continues to dig a hole in the front lawn. One of our 60 year old sprinklers decided to rust away. Not helped by the giant oleander root shoving it gradually for years. We need to install a whole new irrigation system, but involves so much. A concrete retaining wall, driveway, as well as three huge sycamore trees all in the way of the main water line and any trenches required. So, we’ll patch the system for now and hope it holds for awhile. Always something.
HI Joy,
Yes, every guy who has been here has had a little bit more information than the last so we HAVE learned a lot and will figure things out from here…
Linda ALWAYS does a great job setting up her displays for each of the holidays… she has that touch that we all enjoy!
So sorry about the rusty sprinkler… and the hole having to be dug… that’s lovely right before Easter… a big pile of dirt in your front yard! :o)
We’ve been patching our “roof” for a few years and it finally has come down to doing it… Hope you get all your sprinkler, water lines, trees, retaining wall, and driveway fixed one of these days. yes, it does seem to always be “something!”
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Thank you, Joy, for your flattering words about my dolls! I really do appreciate what you say and take it to heart, since you and the others are the ones I do this for. I like the kitchen too! I actually had those cabinets in childhood, but nothing survived, so I got them off EBay to recreate the kitchen. It’s fun to decorate it, and gives me a place to put food and dishes that I have for the dolls.
I always, always enjoy seeing Linda’s scenes. Her dolls have such wonderful wardrobes and are always perfectly dressed for the occasion.
Love the ’40’s girls in their hats and gloves. Where did you find the darling ducklings? I have a few of those very tiny peeps, but ducklings would be lovely.
MG’s summer dress looks wonderful on Cecile. Your tables all set up with so many extra are a feast for the eyes. Your kitchen is so sweet. The Easter baskets fill with goodies are too cute. Your dolls certainly have the life.
Easter Blessings to all the sofa sisters!!
Thanks Laura,
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing Linda’s dolls all decked out for Easter… It is fun to look at the pictures and see all the things Linda has collected for them…
Happy Easter to you too,
Blessings, Jeanne
Laura, would you believe I got those cute little flocked ducks at the grocery store! They have a floral/gift shop right in the store, and I could not pass up those cute little ducks! Every week I bought a couple until they were gone!
Thank you for the compliments!
Thanks for forwarding Linda”s darling pictures. Several of the dresses I just loved…all are cute but the dropped waist one in off white lace and the 3 in the first picture, especially the pink one are fantastic! Your accessories are just the thing for that kitchen background.
Thank you Kathie! The drop waist dress on Ivy is a favorite one of mine too. It is thenAG Sweet Spring dress.
Thanks Kathie,
Isn’t it fun when Linda gets her dolls all dressed up? Glad you enjoyed them!
Blessings, Jeanne
Oops…. didn’t get my Happy Easter to everyone message added. Hope you all have a wonderful day with the Lord and Families and Friends and a chocolate egg or 2!
Hi Kathie,
No chocolate candy here, but we do have a chocolate cake!
Happy Easter Kathie,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne, what a treat to see Linda’s dolls all ready for Easter. She is an inspiration. I love the outfits and love her setting it looks so great. I finally finished the outfit for Bella, she was my first OG doll and as I bought her second hand I have no idea what her store name was but I like to name my dolls myself anyway. No one dresses up for Easter here since it is autumn (I am sure that is what makes the difference) so Sam and I have decided that she will be going to her Nan’s birthday party so is wearing her very best party dress. I will send the pictures as soon as we have organised the party. We don’t have the wonderful setting that Linda has, or the props you have, Jeanne, so we will have to improvise.
Joy your comment about your hubby digging a hole reminded me of when we were having our youngest dedicated at church (more than 40 years ago now), we were having a party afterward with some friends and family and my husband had spent hours rotary hoeing the back garden (twice), levelling it, sowing grass seed and watering it faithfully (he hated gardening I must add, so all this was a chore, not fun!). By the day before the party the lawn looked great with a lovely expanse of green, not ready for walking on or mowing yet but it looked really pretty. My husband got up to make us a cup of tea and I heard a howl of rage ( no other way to describe it). The dog had dug a hole right in the middle and of course had scattered soil everywhere. It looked terrible. She was a pretty old dog, not very agile and had had a broken hip in the past but she cleared a three foot fence in one bound and disappeared before he could catch her with a piece of four by two!!!!!!
So glad everyone is finally getting their shots and life is gradually returning to normal for you. Our delivery of the vaccine was diverted (to countries that needed it more than we do so we were told) so we didn’t get any until last month. Border workers and those working in Managed Isolation units were first, now it is medical people. I will be able to get mine next month when over 65’s and people with medical issues are eligible, so Sam and Greg will be able to get theirs then but everyone else has to wait till after July, including their children. It will probably take to the end of the year to get everyone vaccinated who wants it. Life has been pretty normal for us for a good while though, we have had the odd outbreak and gone into lockdown for a week or two but generally life has been pretty normal since June last year. We had 22 deaths 11 of those in one rest home and all occurred during lockdown, except one and I think he contracted it during Lockdown. On the whole I think the government did a pretty good job, even the wage subsidy didn’t cost as much as expected so that was good news for us taxpayers.
See you all Tuesday (Monday for you) and hope I have some photos ready to send.
Hi Anne
I’ll be waiting for your party dress pictures!!
What a dog story…I just read that to my hubby and he got a big chuckle out of that!! Poor dog though!!
Have a very happy “Easter” Anne!
Blessings. Jeanne
So, have to hear the end of the story. Did the dog survive? The party go on? Yikes. 🙂
Thank you, Anne! It took me quite awhile to get all the accessories I have for the dolls, and I am pretty close to not getting more. It does take time, though.
