A thing happened at our house today…

This post will be shorter than yesterday’s… and I won’t even have to say much! :o)

At 7:00 Friday night, this happened…

…and showers…but I can’t show you that….

I also wanted to show this short 7 second video. We were waiting for the hot water heater to fill up and heat up… and my hubby took some bread out to his “girls.” If you turn your sound on, you can hear Reuben barking in the background…He gets SO jealous when my hubby feeds them bread… he always wants a piece too…

Well, this is going to be a great weekend… except we have a bazillion tools and things to put away… but we have hot water! All is well in the Wiedlocher house! :o)

See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

Woohoo!! Congratulations on hot water!! You will never take that luxury for granted again! I’m so glad it’s working!

What a fun video. Dogs can be so funny, can’t they? Our little Molly (when we were first married) loved raw cabbage, and if you took it out of the fridge, she’d awaken from a sound sleep and be standing under the breadboard, waiting for some to fall, before you’d carried it the 3 feet to put it there! LOL She could also tell the difference between lettuce and cabbage, and if you took a head of lettuce out of the fridge, she wouldn’t stir.

  2. All is well in the Wiedlocher household! I was a bit puzzled at the first picture, and was thinking somehting bad happened, then FINALLY realized you had HOT water!! Welcome back to civilization, Jeanne and George!

What a cute video! George seems to be a modern day version of Dr. Doolittle!

Progress on my coop this weekend.

That is the best news of the week! We do like our luxury, what am I talking about, it is our way of life. We had a tree go down in the wind a couple of week ago. No electricity for 8 hours. We warmed up food on the wood stove but no water to do dishes. We just take all our good things for granted. Miss them when we don’t! Glad you are back to the normal way of life! Have a great weekend!

  5. It was so funny, when I played your little video with the sound on, my dog came running over and excitedly watched and listened to Reuben barking. I must have played it five times and each time Kosho did the same thing. I laughed so hard. Thanks for the fun.

  6. Who would have thought! Hot water and barking chickens. πŸ™‚ Made my Saturday morning. πŸ™‚
I was pretty worried about the two of you getting that pipe through the roof and down the chimney from above, but you did it. Yay! A job well done.
Other person was able to take apart his pole electric tree trimming saw and reinstall the chain. I was kind of hoping it couldn’t be fixed, so now more branches are being eyed. I’ll have to be on guard. πŸ™‚
Have a restful weekend after cleaning up.

  7. I recognized the hot soapy water at once.
Cleanup time and time for all the relaxing, pleasant things — dishes that come clean, sheets that can be washed in hot water, chickens (and dog) to pamper, maybe a garden to plant, a cake to bake. Everything getting neater instead of messier.
    Happy weekend.

  8. Jeanne, I can totally relate to your excitement over the hot water having experienced it ourselves back in February. But ours came as a total surprise. When Sean and family came to stay at our house during Uri because they had no electricity we thought they would be able to be warm and take showers. Our power has never gone off even during a hurricane so we felt we were good to go. But when Jaiden went in to take her shower that evening she came back out and said the water wouldn’t get hot. We checked the water heater. It turned out the problem was the water pressure was so low the water heater wouldn’t fill and come on. But we never anticipated no water at all. That came the next day.

They left for home the next morning to heat, water and hot showers. We had none of any of those all day. We finally jumped ship and headed for their house that evening. Jason stayed here and said the heat came on about 11 p.m. that night, but water pressure and hot water were still a couple days away. Thankfully we had a gas stove and we could heat water. It just took awhile to fill even the tea kettle. Yes we are spoiled. I didn’t mind all this when I was wilderness camping but I sure don’t like it when I’m at home.

Cute video. Animals are funny. Our Cocker, Chelsy, insists on getting her night time snack and going to bed promptly at 10 p.m. If David and I are watching something on TV a little later than usual, she pesters us until we get with the routine – letting her out one last time, her snack and putting her in her room which is a large kennel that she insists on sleeping in. One night the door didn’t get hooked and she came back out to let David know he needed to fix the problem. She’s been following this same routine since we got her in 2010. We even have a folding kennel for her when we travel so she feels her routine has not been interrupted. And yes, she does have a problem for a few days when the time changes.

You didn’t mention how you are feeling. Hopefully you are still not too sore from your fall.

  9. Yaaaay!!! Hot water!!! Huge job but you did it! And your roof is ready to be re-roofed.
Hopefully the tools being put away will go fast.

I really enjoyed seeing the chickens getting their treat of bread. It’s nice that they trust George too. They are really beautiful colored chickens. I find chickens very interesting. I’ve seen videos of chickens who like to be petted and sit on the laps of their owners. Ducks and geese too have been in videos showing affection to their owners.

    1. Congratulations! Nothing like HOT waterπŸ˜‰ Hope you had a nice long bubble bath…or at least shower.
Those chickens are so beautiful! All the colors and they look so healthy!
      Enjoy !

  10. Yippee! I’m sure you were overjoyed to have the hot water back on. I would have headed straight for a hot shower followed by a long soak.
So nice to see “the girls” and I’m sure they enjoyed their treat. My kitties reacted to Reuben barking since they didn’t know where the sound was coming from. They are used to hearing the neighbor’s dogs. Reuben sounds sweet with a high little bark like our Yorkies had.

  11. Your shower must have felt soooo good. Great job, now you can get back to your great love, sewing.
Finished knitting the dolly jersey I was making. It is a bit big but I am sure dolly won’t mind. Just have to knit a matching hat and make boots and shoes then she is ready for sale. Will take a picture when I have finished.
It feels very cold this morning, it is only 6C so Autumn is starting to settle in. The rain has gone though and it is going to be sunny so not quite a sweater day yet.

  12. Hot Water time!!! yeah Good job guys! Funny how something you hardly give a second thought to can be missed so much when it’s not there. We had to replace our hot water heater when we moved to this hous, we opted for a tankless on demand. Oh my word! Best decision ever. We still pat ourselves on the back and say why didn’t we put one in the last house. When Richard was a teenager more than a few times I found him sitting in the shower sound asleep… only he got a hot shower that day, the tankless on demand would have been so nice with two teenagers in the house and loads of laundry to be done every other day. Best part of the TOD system… it vents out the side of the house.
I hope you and George are taking it easy and babying your bumps, bruises and sore knees.
    take care, hugs
    Ingrid

  13. I hope you know how much I enjoy your posts. I am so happy you have hot water once again, I don’t know how you do it, I’d be crying out loud from about halfway through the whole project

Oh Jeanne, Congratulations on getting your hot water back in your house. Boy your husband is a champion isn’t he? I love that video of him feeding your gorgeous chickens. So vibrant and beautiful aren’t they? What kind of doggie is Reuben? I have a Westie named Lilly and I call her Lilly Pup and she will soon be 17 years young on 3 June, the same day of my twin grandson’s 1st birthday this year. I am finally a Nana for the first time. My dreams have come true. I plan to show my husband your husband work on the house when he has a free moment. I was telling him the other day about what you have been through and how you fell and how I was so worried about you? By the way, I can not find that fabric that you tried to locate for me. Do you know what the flowers are on that fabric on Felicity’s gown that you made? Are they Chrysanthemums or Lillies or what? I can’t tell? Thanks for helping with that. I truly appreciate your help with it.
