Addy’s dress, “Winter Elegance” is on Ebay…

I did it! I worked like crazy and managed to get Addy’s dress listed this afternoon and on Ebay this evening. It’s a 5 day listing and ends Tuesday evening. I found a nice spot in my living room this afternoon when the sun was shining through the windows but not so much it washed Addy’s skin tone out. I think she looked very pretty in the pictures and you can tell more about the fabric than you ever could in any of my previous pictures.

I was asking my hubby and Rebecca for names for it and my hubby came up with Winter Elegance! (I cooked him dinner for his reward!) :o)

Now, you may notice there isn’t an accessory with Addy’s set on Ebay… BUT… if the the winner of that dress is a subscriber to my blog, I’ll add something to it when I send it… maybe a pair of pantalettes, or a purse, or a basket of fabrics scraps from Mrs. Ford’s shop, or a bouquet… maybe the winner can give me a hint as to what they’d like when they win it… :o)

If you’d like to see the listing, you can click on the picture on the right side bar or you can click HERE

Here are a few of the pictures in the listing… just to entice you to take a peek…

Now, it’s Poppy’s turn to show you what she did today…

Kathie sent some wigs for Poppy to try on since the one she came in was so awfully small… this is what I posted on Facebook for her traveling adventures today…

When Poppy (Fabbi Tan) saw the package she wanted to get started right away…
She tried on an auburn colored one and thought she looked pretty cute in it. We braided it and she liked it better…

Next she tried on the short one but said, “I look like a “boy” in this one… I wanna be a girl!”

So we tried on 2 long blonde wigs and she said they were way too big on her head…

I told her there was one more blonde wig but it was pretty fancy with some curly bangs.

She was afraid to turn around and look in the mirror…
“Mommmmmm, this is TOO fancy for a little girl!”

So she sat down in the chair while I looked through my wig drawer again…

I found one you might like… it’s just a little fun piece of fur I made a wig out of a long time ago…it’s a bit spikey but you might like it…

“I DO… I DO…if I’d had THIS wig on, maybe that big ‘ole hen wouldn’t have come at me yesterday and made me a’scared…

That was what I wrote on Facebook, but I took a few other pictures I didn’t put on there…

Janie saw the auburn colored wig and jumped off that dolly shelf faster than lightning and said she wanted to try it on..

Doesn’t she look beautiful in it? At least in person she does!

Then Emmie wanted to try the one with the curls and it was kind of small on her…it would not stay on… just a bit too tight, but it’s a wonderful feeling wig… so silky smooth… I might have to play with it…

Well, that was my day with Poppy AND Addy… both girls kept me busy and I need to get some house cleaning done before my sisters come tomorrow… and painting and one more alteration, and some food ideas figured out, and some sleep!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Wow, Jeanne, the new pictures of Addy are just wonderful!! I love that white on white backdrop for her, too–really helps brighten things up (well, I’m sure the sunlight helped, too!). I think it made a big difference in how Addy and her dress look. I predict a bidding war!!

Poppy certainly had fun trying on wigs! The auburn braids were really cute on her, but also cute on Janie!! I agree, though, that some of those other wigs were a little too much for her. The spikey one is just right, and so cute on her! Good choice, Poppy!!

    1. Thanks for your compliments on Addy’s dress, Charlotte.
I think it looks much better too. I may have found a new place to take pictures… when I need to get it very accurate.
My sisters are here and I was showing them Poppy’s original brown wig and I was having a really hard time getting it on to show them how tight it was… oh well, I hope she’s enjoyed being a red head at MY house…
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Addy looks beautiful, Jeanne! The lighting is just right, the background is perfect, and the dress and bonnet shine in all their glory! Whoever gets this outfit is going to have a very lucky doll indeed! Funny, but today is the first day I noticed the bows on the sleeves! So pretty!

Oh that Poppy! Today’s adverntures had me laughing non-stop! That first wig does look cute on her, but I am liking shorter wigs on her, since longer wigs make her head look too big, in my opinion. Plus, her spunky personality shows through when she has a shorter wig. That last wig had me really laughing! I’m wondering what kind of “pretty” dress you would make to go with that??! A pair of jeans and combat boots might work though!

I also like Janie in the braids wig, although the overly done with curls one on Emmie is a bit much for today’s girls!

I see now, that George’s owls are not really owls at all, just “fancy” pigeons!

    1. Thanks Linda,
I guess maybe I got the correct lighting figured out…at least this time… thank you for your kind compliments on her dress. I too, think she looks lovely…
It was kind of fun just seeing what the wigs were like… I think I can salvage some of them for other dolls, but Poppy’s head is just too little for most of them…
Yes, George’s owls are just fancy pigeons… and he adores them like I adore my dolls…
Are you getting snow? We are…
      Thanks again,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. It snowed here all day, mostly snow showers, but it melted the minute it hit the ground. So nothing to show for that all day snow, doggone it!

  3. Poppy is so cute! The long wigs sure overpower her in hurry. I like the 2 from you the best. The little fake fur wig would make a cute boy wig too.

Addy looks wonderful in her beautiful dress. Elegant!

    1. HI Julia,
The wigs were fun for a few laughs and I found a couple for some other dolls…
Thanks for your kind compliments on Addy’s dress. She does look elegant, doesn’t she? I guess my hubby got that name right this time! ;o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Addy’s photos turned out really well. No more facial shadow. 🙂 It’s a very cute outfit.

How fun for Poppy to try on different wigs. I really think she looks best in Jane’s (I think she is the owner) bob wig. It just seems like the short bob is her perfect style. I do like Janie in the auburn braids if it can be thinned or tamed a bit. It seems to me that both of the blond wigs might work for Poppy if they were cut to remove the bottom curl. I wonder if that is possible? I think I like Poppy best in a blond wig. Just my opinion. 🙂

Most exciting thing yesterday. The feds and then the State of CA opened up Covid vaccinations to those 65+ on Wed. Then the county did the same and our health provider was taking appointments. Tried to get through, but the wait time said 45 minutes so we had to leave to pick up lunch. When we returned, I called again and then the wait time was 1 1/2 to 2 hours. I waited and waited. Should have used my cell phone as the battery started to beep on the house phone. Switched phones twice during the wait. 2 1/2 hours later, someone answered. After answering all of the questions, he looked for an appointment for me and they had none left in our town. Bummer. But I asked about another Kaiser location and he found one for Jan. 22nd. I took it. Then I had to do everything with him again for other person. Was able to get him an appointment too not too far away in time from mine. It’s about a 45 min. drive, but is worth it to actually have an appointment. Later yesterday, the wait time was 5 hours and people were being told to call back in two weeks. Someone said that they received an appointment for today. Have no idea how they did that. But, we’re happy to have appointments for our first shot. Has anyone else received a vaccination yet?

    1. No, not yet, but my primary care doctor will call when they are available
at his office and we will make an appointment to go then. No waiting around for us, and the office is just 5 minutes away from home.

    2. My physical therapist did. She said her arm ached worse than a tetanus shot, but no one else in the service she works for had that reaction, though others had other mild reactions. The arm ache was not immediate.

    3. Thank you Joy,
I think this just might be one of my very favorites for Addy…ever… in person it is stunning!

I was putting on those wigs pretty quickly and maybe if I took some more time, I could tame them down a bit… the auburn colored wig is especially pretty on Janie… her coloring just shines with it on… but I just did a quick braid job.. I need to take time with that one too…
I’m not sure what is going on around here for shots… I haven’t heard a thing… maybe you’ll get in sooner than you thought…
It’s snowing here…and the wind chill is 25 degrees. Deb and Cindy got here and are staying in a trailer my cousin has about 5 miles from here… Cindy just texted me and said it was Cha-Cha-Chilly there!
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Not here yet, either, but Ron’s clinic will let him know when they are available. I think the Seattle area is really lagging behind other parts of the country.

I won’t get one because I tend to develop sudden and unexplained allergies to things, plus with my adrenal insufficiency, I have nothing to fight with if that happens. I just don’t dare take a chance. I don’t get flu shots, either–got really sick from the first one. Even had a reaction from my last DTAP booster, which really surprised me, so no more of those, I guess. I do take extra Vitamin D, which I understand can be a big factor in preventing getting covid. So far, so good!

  5. The photography (and the photographer) is great on the pictures of Addy. I can really tell how rich the colors are in the dress fabric, and Addy’s skin tone look perfect.

Boy, that Poppy sure knows what she likes and doesn’t like. I have to agree with her! That’s a nice selection of wigs, but most don’t really suit her. The one you have been using for her the last couple of days really flatters the most.

    1. Thank you Carolyn,
I’m glad you noticed a difference with Addy’s dress and even her skin… It just might the best she’s ever looked in my pictures… some of the pictures of her makes it look like she’s a bit on the mauvy side or a bit purplish…
We had fun trying on wigs, whether anything worked or not.. and we had a few laughs too!
      Thanks Carolyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Addy looks lovely in that set. The new photos show it off so well.
Poppy is a funny little thing. The little fake fur wig made my laugh. Either Poppy is trying to mimic the kitties on the dresser or she has aspirations of a punk rock star.
Love the wigs on Janie and Emmie. The curls are super cute.

    1. HI Laura,
Thanks for your kind words on Addy and her new dress… I was very happy to have gotten such nice pictures from an inside shoot…
We had a few laughs here too, when Poppy was trying on the wigs… I think I can use a few of them and then with a bit more time… maybe trim up a few and see what I end up with.
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Just saw my email. I wanted to remind everyone if you haven’t signed up that Pixie Faire is doing their Freebie Friday again this year. YAY!! I ‘ve collected a number of their patterns. The one freebie Friday was one I was considering and then got it free.
Today’s has a cute little top hat. I see top hats in my kitties future. LOL

Maybe Reuben would like one, Jeanne?

    1. HI Laura,
I saw the email from Pixiefaire and had to go check it out… I didn’t know they were going to do the Freebie Fridays this year… thanks for telling me… now I’m really going to be watching.
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. The wig Poppy chose really goes with her personality. I think you need to keep the one she was wearing for previous pictures for your dolls.

Big deal: Pixie Faire is starting up Freebie Friday again and a really great pattern is offered today which has a dropped-waist dress as well as a top hat 🎩! They are digital downloads. Can’t get better than free and you can see the other patterns they offer. Glad your first dress of the year is so lovely and on schedule as it’s the 15th.

The clinic I go to will notify me when to schedule an appointment for the vaccination. I’m good with that as I feel all first and second line workers should get it before me. I never go anywhere anyway!

    1. HI Susette,
The red bob wig will be staying here with me…it’s the one I use on Navi when she needs a shorter wig… We had fun trying to find the perfect wig for Poppy…not so much for her, but the auburn one REALLY is beautiful on Janie’s coloring. I just need to rebraid it… I did it super fast…
I’m glad Pixiefaire is bringing back the free patterns on Friday too… it’s always fun to take a peek, even if you don’t like the pattern…
      Thanks so much!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Oh my…those wigs are tooooo big. Wish there would have been more sz 6’s…but they were all boy length. As I told Jeanne…a lady called me out of the blue and asked if I wanted some wigs…her mom had a doll making shop and after she passed the supplies just sat there. She didnt want anything for them. I like the little red one you had on her the best…it just matches her personality! I thin, or cut a v shape, out of almost any wig I use..they just have too much hair!
Addy’s dress is so beautiful! Hope it is a wonderful sale for you!
Sister time again…you lucky thing…haven’t seen my sis for almost a year!
Thanks for the Pixie Faire hint Susette…going to look right now!

    1. Yes Kathie, I always feel a bit envious when Jeanne gets to see her sisters. I may not see mine again unless she comes here. It is a long way to go on your own (12,000 miles) now I am so much older and I would struggle to pay for me let alone someone to go with me. Of course, no one is going anywhere at the moment!

    2. Kathie,
Some of the wigs are definitely going to get a second look from me… I think I can make most of them work for someone… a snip here, a trim there, a thin here… and voila! I just might come up with something wonderful… Thanks for sending them my way. We had a blast trying them on…
Yes, my sister’s arrived this afternoon and I think they get to stay till Tuesday… We’ve already had fun… I’ve missed them so much!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. I like poppy best in the shorter wigs. I love the one of yours that she has been wearing but the longer ones look too big even if they fit, she is so tiny. I am sure that everyone on the Facebook group are in stitches at her antics, your story lines are so clever and you pose her so prettily.
I checked out your E Bay listing with Abby and see you already have a bid. I am not surprised. Actually I think I have some material just like yours except mine has a white background instead of black, I like yours better though, it is more striking. I must have a look today and see if I have any left and see if it is the same.
Joy, I saw on TV last night that California was rolling out the vaccine. So glad you have an appointment. Not sure about my sister and her husband (UK) but saw on Facebook that my niece (who has severe medical issues) has had her first jab. What is it Winston Churchill said? “This is not the end, nor is it the beginning of the end but perhaps the end of the beginning”. Long way to go yet but at least a start.
We won’t start vaccinations until March but of course we don’t have it in the community so can afford to be a bit slower. I think the idea is to try and get everyone vaccinated by the beginning of winter. Everyone who wants it anyway. We still have a few idiots claiming it is all a hoax and who don’t believe in vaccinations. Personally I remember the polio outbreak in UK in the 50’s and my mothers relief when the Salk vaccine came out, not just my mother but the whole country. Then there was a smallpox scare in the north of England in the 60’s, that was when they found out that resistance to the vaccine that we were given as children sometimes wears off.
I saw the Friday Freebie on Pixie Faire and downloaded the pattern. I have downloaded a few freebies from them lately. It is especially good if it is a pattern you were considering anyway lol

    1. HI Anne,
You are probably right… Poppy does look best in the shorter wigs because she’s so tiny…

Yes, I got that bid early this morning… and was thrilled that someone was paying attention…
I think Addy looked so pretty for her photo shoot…it’s too bad that your fabric is only a scrap…maybe you’ll have to save it for a piece in another quilt some day…
I’m glad things are going well for the people of New Zealand as far as the vaccines go… if you have to wait, you have to wait…
It’s always fun when you click on the Freebie pattern and see if was one you were hoping for… that’s a wonderful surprise…
      Thanks Anne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    2. Charlotte Trayer

Anne, I remember polio, too–one of the girls in my class in 1st grade (I think it was) got it. Many years later, I had a friend, Daria (since passed away–boy, do I miss her!) who was part of the test group in New York state who tested the vaccine before it was released to the public. As I recall, Daria even had a certificate proclaiming she was one of that group (and I think she Did get the vaccine). Pretty heady stuff, to be part of something as earth-changing as that!!

  11. Jeanne I checked, I only managed to find a very small scrap of the fabric though I can’t remember what I used it for but although it is similar it isn’t the same.

  12. I do think Poppy should probably take the fur wig with her when she leaves even though it doesn’t go with the outfit you made. Most of the wigs just have too much hair. What about the “boy” wig? Is there any way you could restyle it so that it has a Poppy personality? Are the blonde wigs just too big or could you cut off some of either one?

Addy looks lovely. When did you add the bows to the sleeves? They are perfect.

    1. HI Marilyn,
It’s funny, but Linda said she hadn’t noticed the bows on Addy’s sleeves until today too… isn’t that strange… for some reason, the white background and the lighting made this dress come alive right in front of our eyes… I’m glad you like it… me too!

I’m not sure if I’ll add the spiky wig to Poppy’s box or not… we were only supposed to add one little thing to her box… and I’ve gone over on that…but I think it will be okay… I should show what is all in the box.., but I’m not sure if I’m supposed to… but I could on here, I guess.
      Thanks Marilyn,
      blessings, Jeanne

  13. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, I think you are in big trouble. Poppy is calling you Mama. She is not going to want to leave. I predict that there is going to be another Poppy in your future (laugh).

She really is so cute. I think I mentioned that I was having trouble finding a wig for my 6 inch doll. She is on wig 4!

    Addy’s dress looks so pretty.

    1. HI Dorothy,
I’ll have to tell Poppy she’s heading to Michigan next and there might be LOTS of snow there… maybe she can build a snowman at her new house… we’ve had snow today, but I don’t think there will be enough in the morning to make a snowman…
Deb and Cindy saw Poppy and Deb thinks I should make Poppy a tiny little mask for her…
I just might.. that would be kind of fun…
It’s hard to find just the right wig for those tiny girls, isn’t it? Have you tried the Doris wig, or the Bubbles? It’s just a little bob but pretty cute… the trick is finding one that isn’t so thick!
      Thanks Dorothy,
      Blessings, Jeanne
