I won’t give you the details just yet, but it involves this…and a “winner” at the end….Stay tuned… :o)
That’s all!!!
See you tomorrow,

Loving that blue fabric, Jeanne (even though blue isn’t my particularly favorite color–I prefer lavender). Looks like it’ll be another dress, similar to the one you just made!!
Waiting with baited breath….

Hi Charlotte,
I think the blue is very pretty too…Samamtha is thrilled!!
Thanks so much

I love that color, Jeanne! I think George told you to make a dress just like the one you did as the challenge dress, and to make it blue like several of the readers suggested! Then a winner? Well, I guess someone will win one or the other somehow.
You know, I was thinking, since this is a 1900 dress, the deep V neckline could also have some sort of a dickey to fill in the space wheere the neckline of the doll, and her cloth body and vinyl face meet. A lot of dolls have gathers there, and are rather unsightly. Then too, dolls with a darker skin tone have the problem that the material of the body is different from th dark vinyl. A necklace right at the separation can work well in some circumstances, but not all, especially with the different color of the cloth body. I do see a lot of dickeys in those old dresses, so it isn’t really hard to imagine. Felicity has a lot of fichu’s in her dresses to fill in the space. Of course, this dress isn’t from back that far.
I’m thinking you are going to give the first, beige dress away in some sort of contest! That dress is beautiful, and this dress is too! You sure do keep us on our toes!

Hi Linda,
Well you got part of it right…my hubby DID say he thought a blue dress was more his taste.
I DO like your idea of a dickie to fill in the V.
I might use that idea…
Stay tuned….

I didn’t get to post one the first dress but I love color and the fabric is so pretty. What a challenge you had for that one. I think the two hard parts is that you aren’t able to see the dress from a front view and the dress seems to be very well worn. That just makes everything hang differently than a new dress.
I think I love the new color one more. That blue is gorgeous and the print is perfect for the folds on the bodice.
Can’t wait to see what George has you up. And a winner is always a fun thing.

Hi Sandra,
Yes, the hard part trying to make the beige dress was not really knowing what the dress was supposed to look like in the end…since I couldn’t see the picture well enough to know what to do…hence the change up in plans…
I’m glad you are liking the new blue color….
I’ve been working on it off and on all day…

The blue diamonds fabric s one of my favorites since I have the Blue Diamonds dress. This one will also be lovely. I was looking forward to seeing what you did with the challenge dress, and I’m pretty surprised.
Linda’s idea is a good one. 2/3 of my dolls have choker necklaces to cover bad neck joins.
Now I’m wondering about a French blue alternate sash and dickey for the beige dress. I’ve wanted two sashes (one for Sunday) since the project started.
Now I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see what you decide. Suspense!

Hi Marilyn
I bet you were surprised to see Blue Diamonds again, weren’t you?
I liked Linda’s idea of a dickie too…maybe a lace one…
Yep…another day of waiting…. :o)

Well… aren’t you the tricky one! You can’t give up on that cute pleated top. I know you have something in mind to try that pattern again so tomorrow will be fun!🤗

Hi Kathie,
Maybe if I ever make a THIRD pleated bodice I’ll have it down pat.
The blue one definitely went together quicker than the beige one…
Still working on it…
Thanks Kathie,

I already love it! Because, color! That makes it so much better and prettier because all neutral doesn’t usually work for me. Excited to see the finished article.

Hi Julia
Well. I’m glad you’re liking the blue better… I’m getting there…
Thanks. Jeanne

Love the blue color and the fabric is lovely. Very intriguing… can’t wait to see what’s happening with this.

Thanks Laura,
I’ve been working on it today…looking good…

Beautiful fabric. I love seeing things in different colors. I’m one of those people that if the dress, skirt, blouse, shoes, etc. fit, buy it in every color.
Had a nice surprise this morning. David said when he got up it was 77 outside. By 8 a.m. it was 64 and when I looked last around lunchtime it was just 67. I heard we have another front coming on Wednesday that will drop our temps into the 50s. Really early for this to happen here, but no argument from me.

Thank you Barbara,
Well, it seems like the blue is a hit…
I just saw on the weather tonight that it’s supposed to get down to 46 here on Friday evening…brrr…
Thanks Barbara
