A few sneak peeks at tomorrow’s doll dress…

The plan is to get this finished and share it tomorrow… I have a pretty good headstart and hope you’ll enjoy my hints.

The skirt is finished except for the buttons on the front.

I’m waiting until I finish the top to sew them on. The buttons are just laying on top.

The buttons I’m thinking of using are these little vintage gold metal cut out buttons where you can see little sparkles of different color gemstones or colored glass underneath. Cindy sent me a bag of assorted vintage buttons and I’m really hoping they work. The color of the skirt is horrible on this close up…

Here are a couple hints for what’s above the waist of the skirt!!

I used an old pattern for the skirt… and have made it only 2 other times. I am hoping this outfit turns out better than either of these…

This is my “Samantha with NO neck!”

I hope my hubby doesn’t have anything planned for me… I want to get this finished! :o)

Don’t forget the Mary Poppins dress being auctioned off on my blog, ends this evening at midnight… You can see the details for it HERE.

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Looks like another gorgeous outfit is in the making! I love the combination of fabrics and trims that you’ve used, and the buttons are just wonderful!!

Congrats to whoever won the two pink outfits for Boneka dolls today! I forgot to check (well, I didn’t have time, really) before I left for SS and then the rest of my day didn’t go quite as planned, otherwise, it might have been I who won it! But , it wasn’t.

This afternoon, as we were getting ready to leave our church (we had a brown-bag lunch after church, in lieu of a potluck, since people are still kind of wary), Ron took a little spill and fell onto the back of his head as well as his back, so the aid car was called, and we spent part of the afternoon in the ER! He wasn’t seriously injured, though, so was soon allowed to go home. Just have to watch him for a bit–he’s still a little wobbly.

My new Boneka is waiting patiently in the p.o. this weekend, so I need to go over there and rescue her before I head to my smocking get-together in the afternoon!

    1. Dear Charlotte,
So sorry to hear about Ron falling again. Maybe he should have a walker to just steady himself. It sure beats hitting your head and back often. Is he dizzy often? Has his doctor considered the possibility of Meniere’s disease?
Meniere’s disease is a disorder that affects the inner ear. The inner ear is responsible for hearing and balance. The condition causes vertigo, the sensation of spinning. It also leads to hearing problems and a ringing sound in the ear. Meniere’s disease usually affects only one ear.
My grandfather had that for a while, and although he never fell, he was often dizzy and would have to steady himself due to his balance being off. I was young at the time, maybe 9 or 10, so I have no idea how it was fixed. Praying that you’ll get an answer.
Looking forward to seeing photos of your own little sweetie. I did see the link photo.

Thanks Laura; he does have a walker, and will use it if he’s going to have to walk any distance (say, in Walmart), but the problem is, he doesn’t get dizzy, he just loses his balance!! He’s due for a check with his doctor soon, though, so I will try to remember to mention it to him, about Meniere’s as a possible cause. Ron’s hearing has also gotten much worse of late, so it’s very possible even something like a hearing aid would help!

Plus, he can be pretty stubborn about the walker sometimes! We went out for dinner last night, and I had the walker out of the trunk before he got out of the car!! I told him he had no choice!! LOL

Dear Charlotte, oh my goodness. I hope things are better now and that you and your husband can rest today.

      1. Charlotte Trayer

Thank you, Dorothy; he’s a little stiff today from his fall, so he stayed home and didn’t try to go anywhere. Just as well….!!

    3. Charlotte, I forgot to mention Ron in my comments. He is falling way too much and needs to get a cane or walker I would think. So sorry to hear about the latest fall, and hope he heals quickly and feels better soon!

      1. Charlotte Trayer

Thank you, Linda; he uses a cane all the time. Walker…..sometimes!

He only ended up with a small bruise on the back of his head, behind his left ear, which was much less of an injury than the last time!! Not even any broken skin this time!

  2. Your new outfit looks so quaint, Jeanne and so well done and put together. I am looking forward to seeing how beautifully you put this all together. I assume this is for Samantha?

    Blessings.

  3. Love the color of the new skirt outfit, and the buttons are lovely. Looking forward to seeing more details.
Got to go horrible thunder storm.

  4. Interesting skirt! Can’t wait to see this outfit when it’s completely finished. I see the top is made from the same fabric as the Boneka summer tops. Really pretty fabric.

On my way out to mow. My old lawn tractor is continually having problems after seven years and I can’t mow unless one of the guys is here to fix whatever breaks next, so hubby and I decided a new one was in order. He managed to patch the mower back together to use around the shop, but I’m going to have to use it today until I order the new one. I can’t wait till the new one arrives to mow. No rain, but something keeps growing enough to need mowing. And the heat… Ugh!!

  5. You are the sewing queen….so much done so fast! Love the skirt….blouse is darling too!
Great colors and fabrics! That new room put you in high gear🤗
Hoping to get sewing for my Red headed Grace doll that is coming soon ! Made undies for the doll I have that is supposed to be the same body. Anyone else waiting for a blonde or red headed Grace?

  6. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, oh my, this outfit is looking good. I wonder if it is what I think it is. Hmmm. I am very excited.

  7. Beautiful fabrics, and I love the buttons. We really have something to look forward to tomorrow.
It’s in the 90s here this week. Nevertheless, I got the lawn watered. It was so much easier than last week. My balance is better and I’m getting stronger. The most thrilling thing is that my hair is finally getting thicker after chemo in 2014. I thought what I had was as good as it was going to get. If I could get it cut, that would be lovely, but we all take as few chances as possible right now.

  8. Yeah, another outfit right on the heels of the last. Your new sewing room must have some sort of Mary Poppins magic as quickly as you’re cranking out the fashions.
Hmmm, I think we’re getting a suffragette outfit with a bit of Gibson girl thrown in. I can also see a bit of the 1980’s Jessica McClintock prairie style. I’m fairly certain it’s the suffragette outfit, although the blouse is more of the feminine Gibson girl look. Now, 1890’s, now there’s an era I would love to grow up an AG in so she could wear bustle gowns. I know that’s an AG standing there and I’m going to assume it’s Chrissa (or whatever name you’ve given her) If I’m correct, the blue will certainly highlight those pretty blue eyes, especially with the extra lashes enhancement she has. I see you used that white lawn like fabric with the silver threads, most elegant with the trim.
Looking forward to seeing it in full tomorrow.

    1. Pixie Faire had a special for three days on a bustle gown called Brighton. It is normally $10.99 so I got it for 99c. I had to buy at least one other pattern to get it. so my daughter chose one and Ashley chose 2. One is very difficult though so may have to simplify it a bit. I will have to send a photo if I ever get it made.

  9. Has anyone seen the latest on the Happily Ever After website regarding the Fashion Friends? All I can say is we’re all in big trouble. At least I know I am. Merry Christmas to me!

    1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Barbara, yes, Ed at Happily Ever After, always has a great variety of dolls and doll accessories and his prices are competitive. I have seen him at several doll shows. He has a supply of doll shoes for the hard to fit doll. I found a pair for a cloth doll whom I thought would never have shoes (laugh).

    2. I saw them on RR Fashion Friends. But, when I tried to do a preorder, only one came up as available. I wanted to see them all.

  10. Oh, I see a Women’s “Get Out the Vote“ dress here! Blue and white, and then maybe a touch of red or a red sash? So pretty Jeanne! I love the skirt pattern, and the blouse material is so delicate looking! You need to make one of those big hats with netting!

I love the green dress with that gorgeous lace! I have old family pictures of relatives wearing dresses like this and can’t imagine where they would be going so dressed up! Well, come to think of it people really dressed up long ago, and even men wore suits, hats and ties to baseball games! Things seemed more civilized back then! I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings for this outfit!

  11. The blouse is absolutely beautiful, Jeanne. So feminine and delicate. The skirt is a very pretty material too. I agree with Linda and Laura in the era.

Charlotte- hope your husband is feeling better. Both of you take care!

  12. The green outfit with the lace and touches of pink has to be in my top 5 all time favorites!

    Everybody, be careful out there!

  13. The skirt is lovely and I really love the buttons they will be great.
Greg, my son-in-law, complained of a really bad headache yesterday morning so called the hospital. Apparently his last blood test wasn’t too good so he had to go in. Since he can’t use a phone Sam has had no contact from him since she dropped him off. She will ring this morning and find out what is going on. She is expecting to hear he had a blood transfusion but we’ll see.
Charlotte, if your husband is anything like my Dad he won’t have a walker! someone suggested Dad got a walking stick and he flatly refused. My cousin from UK visited at one time and amongst other trips we had a day trip to Wellington (three hour Ferry each way!) I would have preferred to have a boat trip around the sounds but Dad really wanted to take them on the ferry. It was a horrible day pouring with rain, cold and windy and the sea was very choppy, (Joan and I both suffered from sea sickness) and we decided to go to Te Papa (translated ‘Our Place’) which is a sort of museum but much more than that. Dad had slipped down some steps when we were in Queenstown so was struggling to walk, when we got to the museum there were wheel chairs for people to use if they needed to. I suggested Dad used one. I got short shrift for that suggestion. We were there for about two hours and he spent the whole time sitting in the foyer and saw nothing! Just as an aside not, only was the sea like glass for the return trip, when we got back to Picton it had been a beautiful day, all day! He was a lovely man but very stubborn!

    1. Charlotte Trayer

Those men can sure be stubborn sometimes, can’t they?! We have an elevator at our church, and about the only way I can get Ron to use it is if I say I need to use it myself! Haha…. Well, sometimes I do, as I still have some back pain after my bad injury in May, so Sunday I did have Ron go down in the elevator with me. So,at least he didn’t fall on the stairs! (He did that once, too…several months ago.)
