Navi in her new blue dress…

Before I get started, I wanted to say my pictures are just a bit on the drab side. I was going to tweak them and brighten them up a bit, but I forgot until it was too late.

Also, I had a HUGE number of views on my post yesterday… 712 to be exact! I’m not sure what was the “draw” to my post, but I just kind of smiled to myself and said, “Awww… everyone missed my sewing posts!” Thanks everyone! :o)

Remember that yellow bolt of tulle (netting) I bought for $2.00 at the 100 mile yard sale last year? Well, I finally had a reason to use some of it…about 1/8 of a yard! Only 24 7/8th’s yards to go! :o)

I can probably make 200 more slips. I thought it was “necessary” for Navi’s new dress set and I do think she looks pretty sweet standing in it… It’s about 1 1/2″ long…the teeniest slip you’ve ever seen.

I read the comments later this afternoon and was happy to read a bow in her hair was what seemed most popular.

I could have stopped with the dress, the jacket and the hair bow, but you know me…

I also added a tiny band of the yellow and white dots fabric to the waist of the dress. It’s the same fabric as what the bodice is lined in. The narrow band is sewn down at the sides and doesn’t go around to the back.

Navi got all dressed up but she was barefooted and the only shoes I had were a pair of hunter green and black suede ones. Neither looked very nice with the set, so I got to searching in my “cobbler” stuff and found this tiny pair of pink plastic shoes that came on a little doll I found at the Goodwill. I decided to see if I could cover them with tacky glue and put the Ultrasuede over and press it down.

Oh I forgot to tell you…I had the perfect shade of blue to match her blue wool felt jacket. Time for a little “Happy Dolly Dance!”

Anyway, they worked “pretty” well, but aren’t quite up to my shoe standard I normally make…just a quick shoe to slip on and look nice with her dress.

Here she is…all dressed up and ready for her day of modeling…

UPDATE: Navi’s dress set has been SOLD…

Instead of listing this on Ebay, I’m going to try to sell this for $59.00 plus $5.00 shipping right here on my blog. If you are interested, leave a comment below or email me using the “Contact Me” tab near the top of my blog. The first person to let me know gets it.
If it doesn’t have any takers here, I’ll move it to the My Meadow Fan Club forum.

Thanks everyone,
Blessings, Jeanne

Navi’s outfit turned out just darling! I think my favorite part is actually her petticoat–I would have Loved to have one like that when I was a little girl!! But all the pieces do go together so very well. I’m sure someone will snap that outfit up for her own Navi…..

  2. Oh, how sweet, Jeanne! I can’t see how anyone would not want this outfit, unless, like me, there would be no one to wear it! The yellow slip is just darling, and fits the bill perfectly! Love the yellow polka dotted band too, the perfect contrast! And the hair bow! It all goes together so well, and the shoes work out just fine! A perfect start to your “new season”!!

  3. Super cute! Since you started with your most petite doll, is the next outfit for Ten Ping? And then the Diana Effners?

  4. Navi’s outfit is so adorable.. just like her!
I’m sure it will be snapped up quickly either here or on the Meadow Fans group.
That slip is especially darling and every little doll, real, vinyl or resin, feels like a Twirly Princess when they wear one!πŸ’™πŸ‘Έ

  5. Navi is very sweet in her well-made outfit/cute ensemble. It doesn’t look at all that you’ve lost your touch, Jeanne. It’s great to know that you’re back in your “element” again.

    Blessings.

  6. Love the bow and little dotted accent belt. Just enough of your touches to make the outfit even more adorable.
Anyone ever made a doll tent? I’m trying to figure out the mechanics. Spent some time staring and playing with white pvc in the plumbing aisle at HD yesterday. I would have looked more in the irrigation area, but it was way too crowded. I think those pieces might be less expensive, but not as sturdy. Still thinking on this one. By the time I’m done, it may have been cheaper to just cave and buy an AG tent, but we’ll see. πŸ™‚

    1. I just checked on Pixie Faire to see if they have a PVC tent pattern. It seems they have everything but that. They do have a teepee.

When I told you I stored my thread in those see thru plastic boxes, I mentioned the bobbins. I put them in the box without the lid with used thread spools until I put the thread away. The bobbins actually go in a plastic box with a foam insert that holds them in place. After years of putting them in a bobbin box without the foam and managing to drop the box and spill the bobbins way too many times, I finally saw the foam lined boxes and they have worked perfectly. But no I don’t keep the bobbins in the plastic thread boxes. As you say, that would take way too many of them and the storage problem would be huge.

      1. Thanks for looking for the pattern. I am looking for the large AG Molly tent to replicate. I haven’t found a pattern yet.
My old Singer Touch n Sew had bobbins that screwed apart so that you could remove the thread easily and reuse the bobbin and save the thread for whatever. Not so the modern machines. So, I try to use all of the bobbin thread and only store my major colors, black, white, and red with the thread. πŸ™‚

Joy, Primrose Lane has a pattern for a doll tent. Here’s the link: https://www.primroselane.com/store/p1/Let%27s_Go_Camping_Pattern.html It includes a cot, picnic table and benches, and hammock. The Sierra pattern includes a camping outfit plus knapsack and fishing pole. https://www.primroselane.com/store/p20/Sierra_Pattern_for_18%22_dolls.html

I don’t have those particular patterns, but I own (and have used) Many of Beth’s patterns, and they are truly a joy to work with! My one word of advice would be to trace at least the smaller pattern pieces–it’s much easier to trace a new one if one gets lost, than to try to find it–or figure out what it should look like!! πŸ˜‰

I wrote this once and it disappeared; hopefully it will show this time! I’ll do it without links, in case that was the problem, and then add the links in a separate message. If Jeanne has to monitor the links, perhaps she’d be kind enough to add them after she checks them out.

Primrose Lane carries a doll tent pattern, called “Let’s Go Camping”. It includes a tent, cot, hammock, picnic table and benches. There is also a pattern called “Sierra” which includes camping shorts/shirt/vest, knapsack, fishing pole, etc.

I haven’t used either of these patterns, but I do own–and have used–MANY of Beth’s patterns, and they are always wonderful–seams match, directions are clear, etc. My one piece of advice would be to trace the pattern pieces, particularly the smaller ones, as it’s much easier (and quicker!) than to search for the lost piece or try to figure it out and redo it!! (One of my favorites is her Summer Fun pattern–have made both the dresses and the shorts outfits from that pattern. Wonderful!)

  7. So cute! Love the background too. Really shows off the outfit. Did you make your own pattern for the jacket? I can’t find one made one piece like yours. Care to share a photo of the pattern piece? I have a Ten Ping I’d like it for. Any idea when the β€œnew” sewing table will get worked on? Love everything you do. Have a good day.

  8. Very sweet outfit. I love the oversized hair bow. That was also a clever fast way to make shoes. Too bad you don’t have any more of those that you can cover

  9. Now I really do wish I had a Twinkle. I have no one this adorable outfit would fit. I have two of the 6 1/2″ AG Minis, but I think they are more slender than Navi. I’m sure this outfit will be snapped up in a jiffy, I only wish it could be by me.

    712 views! Wow!!

  10. She looks so appealing in her dress and jacket..and yes, the bow is just the right accent.
I wonder if spraying the shoes would have worked. They are to awfully tiny it makes them hard to work with…how you do that is beyond meπŸ˜‰
Glad you had lots of hits yesterday..Navi should be blushing β˜ΊοΈπŸ€—πŸ€—

  11. Jeanne, so glad you are back in business.
Her little ensemble is so pretty. I wish I had a Navi..
I wonder if Meadow will have a Navi pre order again? So tiny, so sweet.

  12. I’m back with a question.
Dear Jeanne or any other experienced seamstresses on her.Is it possible to draft you own pattern from an intact outfit? I’m interested in finding out if I can make a paper pattern from an AG dress obviously without taking the dress apart.
Thank you so much for any help/ suggestions

      1. Thank you< Joy! I'll check it out. I have the AG patterns, but there are a number of outfits that aren't part of them, plus I'm thinking of making a dress I already own over in another fabric.

Perfect timing! I have a favorite summer nightie I want to copy for myself! Thanks.

  13. She looks so pretty, it is lovely to see your sewing again I have missed it, though it has been fascinating seeing your new sewing room emerge. Amazing that you sold the outfit so quickly.
I would love to send you some photos of the outfits I have made but don’t know how. I have sold one which was 8 pieces including leather boots that I made and I got $25 NZ for it!! My granddaughter was pretty gutted as she really liked it. She gets most of the outfits I make. I love making shoes and boots though I need to get better at it. Unfortunately I see all the mistakes lol.
I am looking forward to seeing your next outfit. I wouldn’t begin to guess who you make it for, is your husband going to choose this one lol?

  14. Oh my goodness, Jeanne, I had nearly forgotten how exquisite your ensembles are! And the tiny size….so perfect! You really have an artistic eye.
