Natalie, an 18″ Madame Alexander doll for sale…

Do you remember when I showed Natalie a while back? She is an 18″ Madame Alexander doll and was manufactured and released for sale in 2009. I have a used doll but she is in very nice condition. I’ll tell you about every part of her and see if you think she might need to come live with the girls you already have! :o)

Here are a few pictures I shared before… the outside ones show her coloring really well.

I guess I’ll start at the top of her head and work my way down. I’ll try to cover everything so you’ll know just what you are getting.

Natalie is 18″ tall and has brunette hair that is soft to the touch. It’s not as thick on the top as it probably was when she was new, but it is easy to comb and has no tangles. It is soft like you are petting a kitten… and not straw like, if you were wondering. I pulled the top back a little bit and braided it.

She has a very pretty face, with dark brown eyes that work perfectly. The eyelids aren’t scratched and open and close as they should. Her cheek coloring is very pretty and her lips have no marks or scratches in the paint. I saw one tiny dot which looked like a shiny spot, but it wasn’t noticeable unless I lifted her back and held her up to the light.

She has no odors to her and was well taken care of. There are no marks on her body except for one on her right hand. I tried a Magic Eraser but it didn’t come off. I think an Oxy treatment would make it disappear. There are no tears in her cloth body and her doll tag is still attached to her side. She has all of her toes and fingers.

She was missing her skirt so I made a chocolate brown with white polka dots pleated one. It closes in the back with Velcro. She already had part of her original outfit, a white long sleeve Tee, a pair of white panties and her pink corduroy vest that closes with Velcro.

Her legs are somewhat loose, so a stand might have to be used. I will include one. She stood for me as I took her pictures…I didn’t have any brown shoes to send along with her, but wanted her to have something, so I am including a pair of black slip on shoes.

If you need another doll in your collection, or maybe have a granddaughter who might like her, she might just be the one you are looking for. If she was a doll I sewed for, I would keep her. She passes my inspection just fine and is a doll I would be happy to have in my collection. She isn’t perfect, but she’s got a lot of love left in her.

UPDATE: Natalie hsas been SOLD!!

I am selling her for $25.00 plus $5.00 shipping. If you want her, please let me know in the comments or email me using the “Contact Me” tab at the top of my blog header.

Thanks everyone,
Blessings, Jeanne

Yes, I remember when you first got Natalie! She is, as you say, a very pretty doll, and someone will be very happy to have her, I’m sure! If my granddaughter were younger (she will be THIRTEEN next week!!!!) I would be tempted to get Natalie for her, as I know she would have loved her. But….instead we are doing things like needlework (embroidery) projects, a book, and maybe a purse or something.

I love the skirt you made for Natalie–it works really well with the other clothing she has.
I’ve always thought brown and pink was a pretty combination.

By the way, Joy asked, in her comment yesterday, about a tent pattern, and I responded to it, as I do know Primrose Lane has them. Joy, if you go to your comment from yesterday, you’ll see my reply. I put the links in a separate comment, as my post wouldn’t show up at all when I included them. Now the one with the links is merely “awaiting moderation”, so hopefully Jeanne decided to let that comment show up! Otherwise just go to primroselane.com and look for 18″ doll patterns. Hope that helps!

    1. Thanks Charlotte for the tent pattern info and link. The cot pattern is especially interesting as those you can purchase are pretty pricey. I know my dad would have made those and the picnic table for me, if he were still with us. He was such a good woodworker.

    2. HI Charlotte,
Yes, Natalie is on her way to Texas. Barbara wanted her for Gracie! I hope they get along well! I bet they will. :o)
I liked the skirt pattern for Natalie too. I had the pieces cut out, but I honestly don’t remember making one from the pattern… maybe I did, though. I’m going to make another one… it was a pretty nice pattern… the only thing I did differently was to cut the waist band/yoke on the bias instead of the way they said. and I think next time I’d put on the fold and cut out the front in one piece.
Thanks for helping Joy out with the tent pattern. I know she was really wanting that tent made for her girls.
I hope your hubby is even better today… being a senior has its drawbacks, doesn’t it?
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Will AG clothes fit Natalie? That skirt pattern is too nice not to duplicate. Would it work for Kit or Molly? I like the fabric. If you have more, it would be fun to see what you.โ€™d do with it for a back to school outfit, though only God knows when that will be safe now. But Molly and Kit didnโ€™t have to worry about pandemics, only about the Depression and war, neither of which could be controlled with masks, social distancing, and a little thought. Maybe we can learn from our dolls.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
I’m not sure if the skirt pattern will work for Molly or Kit, but I’m definitely making it again. It is really cute. I should have tried it on my AG dolls but I didn’t even think about it last night. It would be so cute in a plaid for school… Guess the girls might be homeschooling in some areas! :o) Or I could make matching skirt and mask sets! :o)
At least we HAVE our dolls to divert our attention to something other than what’s out there!
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Been spending a lot of time looking at all of the kitchen appliance brands. So far, even the most highly rated are coming in at zero with me. Very unfortunate that a brand new stove/refrigerator/dishwasher can become a broken mess in a month or two. So many people dissatisfied with the makers and especially their customer service. From a fire inside a new dishwasher that could have burned down a house, photos included in the rating, to repeated calls to the only service person the extended warranty uses, months waiting for a part, computer boards blowing up, and tons of other noteworthy stories. So many that I think we’re going to put new appliances on hold for now. Something needs to be done about quality control with all of the manufacturers. I didn’t check the very high end like Bosch, as those are more than we need, but most of the others. Very disappointing. It appears that an appliance is now expected to last only a few years if that. When I found that the stove knobs on a brand that we liked, were breaking off inside after just a month of use because the interior was plastic, I gave up. The replacement knobs were 45.00 to 55.00 each and surprise, after a month, were not covered in the warranty. Crazy. Just poor quality. Things are certainly not what they used to be.
Still fitting in some sewing here and there. Working on shorts for camp for three sizes of dolls. Probably shouldn’t do that as I keep forgetting what size elastic to use for the waist. ๐Ÿ™ And the dress I’ve pieced together from scraps is in the getting there stage. ๐Ÿ™‚
Finally having a few cooler days. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. It is sad that new appliances are so pathetic now. Makes you want to find a good โ€œoldโ€ one๐Ÿ˜ฒ if you keep checking hopefully there will be one that is worth the $๐Ÿค—

    2. Hi Joy,
I bet you are about to drive yourself crazy with reading reviews on the various appliances. Just remember far more Negative reviews are left than good ones… so you can’t always go by them. George says to ask the repair guy you trust which makes and models he sees the “least” in his shop. Might be something to think about.

I hope your sewing takes your mind off the drudgery of searching for a good appliance.
      Thanks Joy,
      blessings, Jeanne

  4. Might it be more fair to auction things with bids going to your email given the time differences. The farther east the better chance of getting an item with just a price? Things are sold before we ev wake up on the West Coast. Lovely doll.

    1. Hi Susette,
I AM going to do some auctions on most everything left. (I do have something for you…just forgot to let you know.) I was trying to figure out what and who to showcase first. I just need some of this stuff to be gone from here so I can have a few of my shelves back. I thought I might show ALL the things I plan on selling and then do them a few each day with a 3 day auction on each days things.

I should have been more mindful of the time differences before I listed something with a set price on it. Sorry…
      Blessings, Jeanne

Dear Jeanne, Natalie is a cutie. I have the Mixed Prints doll in this Alexander series.

I have fourteen 18-inch dolls. They just began showing up at my house last year, knocking on the door, and asking to be let it. Well, I couldn’t turn them away (laugh).

Here is some news for the friends about upcoming doll conventions:
The Alexander Doll Club Convention was supposed to be this June but was moved to next June. It will be in Michigan.
The Virtual Doll Club Convention will be later this month. Registration – $15
UFDC is now holding its convention online later this month also.
Modern Doll Club will hold its convention online in the middle of September. Registration – two tiers – Visitor’s Pass – $10 Virtual Registration – $50

Information is posted on the various websites. I am planning to “attend” all of the conventions. I am excited about learning about new dolls and the history of old dolls.

    1. Thanks for all this wonderful information Dorothy in PA and the World. I need to check into these. I’ve never done one of these and really want to.

      1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Barbara, hello. You are welcome. If you want more information, you can ask Jeanne to give you my contact email. I will be happy to answer your questions.

    2. HI Dorothy,
Fourteen 18″ dolls, huh? You could have your VERY OWN Doll Convention all by yourself! :o) My grandma was the same way with dolls she saw at yard sales and thrift shops. If one caught her eye, it came home with her… none of this staying at a store and not being loved!

Thanks for all the information about the Doll Conventions! I hope everyone sees this…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Natalie is the cutest and comes with a back-to-school outfit. I love the skirt. She is related to my MA Gracie. If no one else is chomping at the bit to own her, I’d love to have her come live with me. Gracie is the only 18″ doll I have but I would love to have the two MAs. And I have the perfect brown shoes for the outfit.

    1. Wonderful Barbara,
Natalie was hoping she’d get adopted into a home with sisters!!!
You have my address don’t you? You can just send a check if you like and I’ll get her on her way today…
      Thanks Barbara,
Now I’ll go tell Natalie the good news!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Congratulations on Natalie, Barbara. She is cute, could be a little sister to Samantha or Molly. The skirt is very cute and works perfectly
That half cloth body is interesting. My LHOTP doll Mary I won from The Queen’s Treasures has that half cloth body and a ball-jointed neck which is neat. I found Addy’s birthday pinafore dress and snood NRFB last night on eBay. I had been thinking about that as my final PC/AG historical collection purchase (of all the currently available or archived items). An adult collector had one and I couldn’t resist after getting an email. Luckily, that was the last time I had as an email alert. I can’t wait to try it on my Marie-Grace. It’s funny, but there are a few outfits I like better on a different doll. Kirsten’s work dress on Caroline is one.
I love Addy’s tartan dress and school suit, but those can be made with the patterns at some point
So, between that and the AC being fixed this morning, it’s been a great day!!

    1. HI Laura,
I like the half cloth body too… it makes it seem more cohesive around the neck area to me.
Congratulations on finding Addy’s birthday set… I bet you can hardly wait for it to come in the mail.
Also, HUGE congrats on getting your AC fixed! It’s really supposed to be hot the next 2 days so I’d say you got it fixed just in time!
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Natalie is lovely I have never seen one of those dolls before. I particularly like the neck and shoulders being hard and not cloth. Susette I am way behind you I have no idea what time it is in US but it is 6.50 am here on 16th Aug which is probably tomorrow to some of you lol but still too late for me to buy anything.

    1. Hi Anne,
As Susette suggested, I’m going to do a few auctions so EVERYONE has a chance at winning something. Thanks for being a faithful reader!
      Blessings, Jeanne
