Presto Chango ~ Now Emmie is a blonde…

I didn’t have time in my day to comment on all your comments, but I read them and have a few answers to some of them…

Sandra, I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 phone with a 12 megapixels camera. I’m just now getting used to it.

Barbara, I’m glad Gracie liked her new slip and the leotard sounds like a great idea.

Julia, Joy and Kathie, you’ll see in a minute what I decided about the wig…

Laura, I know Emmie is missing from my doll gallery pictures and will get her added there ASAP!

And Dorothy in PA and the world… I WILL post this on the Ning site soon…thank you for always looking out for me! :o)

Okay, so today I did a little tweaking for this set… I ran a blue strand of embroidery floss through the beading on this pretty lace…at the waist as well as on the sleeves. Then I tied a tiny bow at the waist.

I realized after I did the sleeves, that I should probably run some through the pantalettes as well… :o)

Next, I worked on the wig… there were several comments about the auburn sausage curls wig being a bit to thick looking and not showing off the bonnet enough. So I tried a few different wigs on Emmie and used my sisters as my sounding board. We tried…

…and finally I asked them which one they liked the best. They both picked the blonde, SO Emmie will be a blonde in this set! :o)

The shoulder length blonde wig worked just as well, but I thought the bonnet would look better with the longer hair.

My wig needed a little trimming before I took pictures of Emmie in it…It was a bit shaggy on the ends…

After a quick trim…

I also asked my sisters about the bonnet, should I use peach paper flowers, rosy pink flowers, or white flowers… They both picked white flowers… although I “may” add a hint of blue in there… There will be a white silk ribbon to tie it under her chin.

I didn’t get the bonnet finished, but I can show you what I’ve got to work with…

Here’s Emmie in one last picture to show you how this wig looks under the bonnet. There is lots more room and it will be closer to her head when the ties are added…

Well, that’s a wrap for today… OH, and the snaps and buttons are sewn on the back and it’s all finished. I’m thinking she needs a slip under this dress too…It looks a little too droopy to suit me… :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, yes, that blonde wig looks So much better on Emmie! Good call. She can wear the other one when she’s not trying to fit a bonnet over the curls!!

I am continuing to love everything about this outfit, Jeanne! Loving those white flowers with the print, although the pink wasn’t bad with it. But, I do prefer the white ones!

I like the blue floss threaded thru the lace, too–adds that little touch of color!

    1. Thank you Charlotte,
As much as I liked that auburn one, it really was too “fluffy!”
I’m glad you like the blonde wig too.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Yes, Jeanne, the blonde wig is much better with this set! I do like the shorter wig too, but as you say, the longer one might show off the hat better. The shorter hair looks more modern to me, and Emmie is wearing pantalettes, so it’s not a modern outfit at all!

While all three colored flowers worked just fine with the dress, I do like the white too, since it isn’t competing with her hair. I think the yellow of her hair and the blue and white of the dress are enough for a spring like look.

Those extra touches, the embroidery thread and then the wig trimming, were just the thing to make this a perfect little outfit. I just adore the blue hat, and can’t wait to see how you trim it!

    1. Hi Linda,
I liked the shorter blonde wig too, but felt like you did, it was a bit on the modern side.
Well, you’ll see the hat tomorrow… along with a few more things! :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Miss Jeanne’s Millinery Supply Shoppe must be open for business. Love seeing all of the choices to complete the chapeau. The white is a delight and a wink of pink wouldn’t hurt either. 🙂
It would be wonderful to see outdoor photos with this one. Spring flowers peeking out behind, but not sure if you have any yet. If inside, maybe just a simple basket of blossoms. Always love dresses with lace and your perfect embroidery. Can’t wait to see everything complete.

    1. Joy, if Jeanne’s yard is anything like mine, and she lives close to me, you will see lovely shades of brown, and that’s about it, although a very few spring bulbs are coming up now as green shoots.🌱

    2. HI Joy,
Oh how I wish I had more time to do these little hats. They are so much fun to create… time consuming, but fun! :o)
Nope, no flowers here yet… just mud and new gravel in our driveway… that’s about as exciting as it gets around here. My hubby did some pruning on the bushes before they start budding out this Spring… There are piles of branches all around the yard. ( I hope he picks them all up by himself tomorrow. I’d like to take pictures!) :o)
      Thanks Joy,
      blessings, Jeanne

  4. She looks like little bo-peep, so cute. The Auburn is a close second pick for me and I like the peach color flowers, they highlight the blonde curls. Maybe just a hint of it to add a certain something. It’s so much easier to be an armchair advisor, Lol . Whatever you do never disappoints. Right now I’m a little into beads especially AB (aurora borealis) like flower centers, dangles etc. if only I completed more instead of just tried a little of this and a little of that.

    1. Hi Dorothy,
I thought she looked like a Little Bo Peep too… I guess I needed a curved staff for her to herd some sheep and it could have worked. :o)
I loved your comment being an “armchair advisor!” :o) :o)
I remember Rebecca beading with AB beads… love them! Nothing quite so pretty as they are!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. I love all the new choices! 💕 I really debated about saying anything about the wig but the cute little hat just disappeared. I liked the shorter blond wig too. For flowers I’d go with pink every time but for selling I think the white will have a much wider appeal. 🌸🌝

    1. HI Julia,
The bonnet does pull down a bit on the head when you tie it under the chin, but that auburn wig was a bit too much on the fluffy side… It works for some things, but I liked the blonde wig so much better when she tried it on with the bonnet.
I didn’t have enough variety of the paper flowers in rosy pink, so the white won out, for practical purposes. You’ll see tomorrow,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Whoo hoo! Love all the detail changes. You know how to bring it all together. Emmie as a blonde looks great, the trimming on her wig looks professional and the embroidery thread always compliments that eyelet. Yes, the white accessories are just right. That was a lot of changes but each one adds to her total look. She looks like Spring! Now if Mother Nature will just cooperate! Can’t wait to see her final pictures!

    1. I’m glad you are liking all the details on this set. It’s been a fun one to make.
Yes, now if the weather would cooperate! I’ve been having trouble with lady bugs swarming all over my windows… I mean hundreds of them! I had one crawling on my ear the other morning! I had no choice but to vacuum them… sorry all you bug lovers. I just couldn’t stand it any more. I’m not sure how they are coming in, but they sure are.
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessing, Jeanne

  7. Love the blonde wig. It really does show off the hat more. I like the white flowers too. While I like using colors not anywhere else in the outfit sometimes for accents, I think the white is best for the “blue and white” palette this time. Looking forward to seeing the hat finished. Such an adorable outfit this will be.

    1. Thank you Barbara,
I think the blonde wig was a smart move… Blonde hair, blue eyes, blue dress…what could be cuter than that combination?
      Thanks for your sweet compliments!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Yes, photo no. 4 with blonde wig is beautiful. Colour of fabric look great on her colouring. Very pretty

    1. Thank you Martha,
I’m so glad you are liking what you see! You’ll see MORE tomorrow!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, Emmie definitely looks happier with blonde hair. It sets off her outfit nicely.
I look forward to seeing the finished bonnet.

    1. Thank you Dorothy,
Whew! I’m so relieved everyone likes the blond wig and the white flowers! The bonnet is finished… just wait till you see it!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Yes, the blonde wig is a great choice for this set and I also agree with your sister on white for the trimmings.
Love Joy’s comment on your millinery shoppe. That was the one shop I wanted to see in Williamsburg, but it was closed the day we visited. Looking forward to seeing the finished bonnet.

    1. HI Laura,
Thanks for your comments… I would have wanted to see the millinery shoppe in Williamsburg too… that would have been a real treat! Maybe you’ll get back there some day… call before you come to make sure the shoppe is open! :o)
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne
