One night while my brother and I were sitting with my mom, I was talking to him about getting a new camera. I told him I thought it was time I got something different and asked his opinion. He told me, “the ONLY camera you NEED is the one in your HAND.” He was talking about my phone. He gave me a few lessons on how to make my pictures a little better by tweaking them this way and that. I have forgotten a lot of what he said, but this was my first go at using it and trying out a few new things. They aren’t perfect by a long shot, but maybe if I keep practicing, I’ll get better.
This is what kept me busy this weekend. I hope you like…Emmie had more fun than she’s letting on…
If you think Emmie looks pretty so far…just wait!! :o)
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
WOW! what great pictures. Very clear and this phone photo is wonderful. Even the lighting looks better. Keep the photos coming
Lovely photos, Jeanne! Emmie looks just beautiful in the fabric you chose. Can’t wait to see what comes next!
Beautiful, Jeanne! I love that pretty dress, and it suits Emmie perfectly! It certainly does bring out the blue of her eyes. Is that a new wig? I have never seen that one before, at least not that color!
I would love to get a phone just for the camera, but cannot see buying one, and having to pay monthly just to take pictures of my dolls. You, of course, do need one, like most everyone else on the planet!
Lovely in blue! and the bonnet is perfection! You photos look great, I never use my camera anymore, just my phone. So glad you got back into the sewing room.
The hat is a tour de force! It sure completes the ensemble. Maybe you could make more hats to put on your Sales Site but only if it’s a profitable use of your time. I would sure buy one!
Hurray! Let me be one of the first to thank your brother for sitting down with you to show you how to work the phone camera functions. I’ve tried to explain before but it’s hard without the phone in your hand. The fear of doing something wrong is totally negated by the Cancel function, so go ahead and play with it. You can take exactly one picture and edit it ad infinitum, light, color, cropping, anything, while saving the original. Remember the picture I took in the dark and edited it to daylight? You can save the edited picture or replace the one in your phone entirely so it doesn’t use up memory. Give him a call or I’ll send you my phone number if you get stuck, but it’s next to impossible. Your instruction book that came with the phone is your best friend, but the functions are actually self-explanatory. Click, click, click. Try many options on the same photo so you’ll be familiar with them all. Mostly have FUN!
Emmie looks very nice in her new dress. I think the wig over powers her. Is the cap pulled fully down on her head?It doesn’t show off the lovely bonnet to its best advantage.
I’m finally home for a good long while! I feel some concern about leaving Dad on his own, but I also think I was a bit of a crutch. There were activities that he was invited to. He said he thought he’d go to a few. Maybe now he will. We went downtown for lunch at the cafe a few times. He just talked to me and I know he will circulate more, now. I’ll go back up when the snow and ice season is over. I’ll go by myself then. My son has put so many miles on his car taking me up and down the state. Never a complaint or even a sign of unwillingness. His employer had no problem with him leaving at a moments notice and taking days off to be with family. Grateful for so many things.
Oh, the dress matches Emmie’s eyes perfectly. I like her in the auburn wig too. The hat looks kind of small on her with all of that hair though. Maybe if it is tied down, it will be a closer fit. Love the simplicity of her dress too. Lovely. Can’t wait to see the finished outfit.
As to the great photos, please keep using your phone. I too am on a learning curve with mine. Susette’s encouragement and tips are great. I know there must be a way, but how do you send a large group of photos to email so they can go on the computer? Or do you have to send each one separately? Might seem silly to those in the know, but there must be an easy way. Maybe some have their phone set to send all photos to the cloud somewhere and then they can be retrieved from that? If so, how? My phone has no book of instructions.
Happy spring and Monday to everyone. 🙂
Hi, Joy. Call the company from which you bought the phone or find the instructions on line. There are books of instructions for every phone. When writing an email, put the cursor on the place you want the photo to appear and click on the icon at the top of the email which I think says Insert that connects to your pictures. Double click on the photo you want to send and it will pop into your email. Repeat and you can send about five pictures with each email without overloading the email system. It’s wonderful!
Great tip Susette. We have Apple iphones here from Costco, so shouldn’t be too hard to get the info. Thank you.
I had unexpected company Saturday so, while I checked out the blog, I never got to comment. I love the hat. I kept wondering what you meant by a hat mold. I had never seen one before. The hat is adorable and I love the smaller brim. Ruching the straw was amazing. I would have never thought.
What a sweet outfit this is turning out to be. Emmie looks so cute in it as would any Little Darling. I’m trying to imagine the embellishments. Haven’t a clue. Can’t wait to see the final product.
The Red Bud trees are blooming now so it’s definitely the end of winter here. We might still have some cool snaps, but the hope for a freeze is gone for this year. I can’t believe it’s March already. It just seems yesterday I was preparing for Christmas.
Dear Jeanne, what a beautiful color for Emmie. She is such a good model.
If you have a moment, please post a few of the photos on the ning Little Darling site. I am sure that the members there would love to see this lovely outfit.
Emmie looks sweet as can be in that dress and pantalettes. She reminds my of Kate Greenaway illustrations. Do you know who she was? I have her book “Under the Window”
See I told you that you put those LD dresses together very quickly. 😉
The hat is adorable. Now you just need some flowers and a perky little bow to set it off.
I forgot to comment that I was glad to see your “My Dolls” tab updated the other day because it’s fun to see what dolls others choose. That might be a fun topic sometime, like a poll to see what PC/AG dolls we have in common with each other. By the way, your little Emmie is missing from the My Dolls page and this beautiful creation, when finished, would be the perfect photo.
Yes, I think Emmie looks wonderful so far! That shade of blue is just what she needs and her eyes POP! Does Emmie have a blonde wig with less hair? Some wigs are made with too much hair. The red is beautiful though.
Somewhere along the line I quit using my camera too. I’m nowhere near getting better pictures with my phone but it is easy to have just one item for phone and pics. The ones you have posted here look great
Have a good week!
Gracie’s beautiful new slip just arrived and it is absolutely lovely. Thanks, Jeanne! I’m thinking of making a leotard for it and letting her wear it as a ballerina skirt it’s so pretty. I really need to get some of this tulle. I think you said you got it at Hobby Lobby. I don’t get there much because it’s not open on Sunday when I am in the area, but I do feel the need for a massage and if I go for that I can kill two birds with one stone. Think I’ll do that.
I have always thought your pictures are good. The ones in this post look great. I have a nice digital camera, but I am not good at photography so a nice camera doesn’t help me much. Isn’t it amazing what our phones can do? I’m sure your brother will be willing to remind you of any of the tips you have forgotten, but I really think they are already good.
Jeanne, what kind of phone do you have? I have a Moto something or other but the pictures suck on it. I hate using it for anything. I would love a new one and some companies are offering new phones if you switch to them so would love to hear what you are using and how many pixels is it? Isn’t that what they measure on a phone camera? Thanks for any help and your outfit is absolutely outstanding!
