I had big plans to dig around in my fabrics today and settle on something for the next dress for one of my Dianna Effner Little Darlings dolls…but the only time I went into my sewing room was when I packaged up Barbara’s doll slip. Sorry!
The rest of my day was filled with things I needed to get done. I’m hoping for that fabric hunt tomorrow.
Want to see one of the things I worked on today? I wanted to put something together for the caregivers who took care of my mom for the last 10 months. They deserve much more than this, but I did this same kind of thing for the doctors/staff when my hubby has his bladder removed and it was a big hit, so I thought I’d try it again. I had fun shopping for all kinds of goodies, trying to find something for everyone’s tastes.
If you click on my pictures, you can see if I included YOUR favorite treat…
I needed a BIG basket or box to put it all in and the Goodwill didn’t disappoint! :o)
This was everything I used…
…and this is what it looked like when I placed it all in the basket.
I wrote a thank you note and tied it to the basket.
I also made 3 dozen chocolate chip cookies and put them in a bag and added them to the top.
I’m hoping to take it to them Friday…
Thanks everyone,
I hope to make it to my sewing room…
Blessings, Jeanne
What a thoughtful gift, Jeanne–I’m sure they will all love it!! (I’ll have the Reese’s peanut butter cups, and one of your cookies!! LOL) Really something for everyone there, and enough to hopefully last thru more than one day’s worth of shifts!
Today was the first day of Expo; I took took classes, and did “a little” shopping!! Saw friends, some of whom I only see at Expo, and did some visiting. Ended up with quite sore feet–I have neuromas in them now, and sometimes if I stand in one position too long, they really Hurt! I think I alarmed poor Edie at Trims On Wheels when I suddenly started moaning and groaning!!!
Off to bed with me, even though it’s just barely midnight. I’m Tired!
I should add, tomorrow my friend Tonya and I will wear our “twinsie” tops from last year, and carry our new “twinsie” bags–and shop for “twinsie” fabric for next year! Stay tuned!
Wow, Jeanne, it looks like the Easter Bunny cold take a few tips from you! They will love it, who wouldn’t? What a wonderful, SWEET way to thank them for taking care of you mother! I have more than a few “favorites” in there, and I’m sure that basket will be empty in no time at all! If it isn’t too much trouble, why not put a pretty bow on the handle? That’s one of your specialties, for sure!
Charlotte, thanks for the update! I surely sympathize with you on aching feet!!
Oh, much later, I see that there is a bow! Sorry about that, Jeanne!
You are such a blessing and example of Christ’s love.❤️ Beautiful idea!
Dear Jeanne, what a wonderful gesture. I am sure that the gift receivers will be delighted. Thanks for including the Reese’s cups. They are made here in PA!
I can’t wait to see what outfit you design next.
What a lovely basket. So nice to be able to find something to reuse. I’m sure the goodies will rapidly disappear.
Thanks for the Expo updates Charlotte. Love hearing about it.
Don’t try to purchase handsanitizer around here. Quickly selling out everywhere. Crazy. We keep it in the car in little bottles to use after touching keypads at the Costco gas pumps or just about anywhere something must be touched by tons of people. Coronavirus madness around here.
Hope you have time to find a tiny print for the LD’s. So pretty outside here with flowers blooming. Would be a nice background for a springtime outfit. 🙂 Can’t wait to see your choice.
Charlotte, I love your Expo sharing. Sorry about your feet.
My problem is not with my feet but my knees and back suffer when I stand on stage when our Chorale performs. We have to stand in one place for an hour or more. I do alright during the concerts but when it’s time to leave the risers I need help. Fortunately there are people around me who can help, but I told my hubby that if I’m the last one standing up there, please come and get me because I’m afraid I’ll fall when I move. Our Chorale has been in existence 35 years and some of the members have been involved that long so we have a lot of older members. We actually had to put chairs on the front row this last time for those who absolutely can’t stand that long anymore. They filled up fast. I’m on the second row and can still stand, but I’m thinking of getting one of those Tommy Copper shirts with the lower back support. They are expensive but I really need it for that. And I’m thinking of wrapping my knees to give them support and keep them warm. Leaving the Chorale is not an option.
What a sweet (no pun intended) basket and such a thoughtful gesture. I love each and every one of the goodies – and homemade chocolate chip cookies too! What’s not to like about that.
I’m having a little trouble getting/staying in my sewing room this week too. Sometimes I have trouble getting started when I know I have to be somewhere in the evening and this week I had something Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening. I plan on getting a lot done in there today. I need to put the bow on the hat I just finished for my LD Fallon. She looks so Easter/Springish in her dress with the hat. Then I have one to make for Claire – same pattern different look. Then on to an Easter dress for Arabella my FF. I decided she’s next. Sara Anne has a new Easter outfit I bought from a lady on Facebook FF page. Really cute.
Can’t wait to see the fabric choice for the new Little Darling dress. Picking out the fabric for outfits can be so much fun, but often it’s just plain overwhelming. Sometimes I pick out something and then decide I’d rather do something else. I had so much trouble picking out the fabric for my LD dress this time that I decided to use the same pattern for both my LDs so I could use two of my choices. The pattern requires four different fabrics and I just couldn’t decide on which group to use. I love the pattern so much I think I’ll make another for Greer Adele for when she arrives.
Barbara, I think standing for extensive periods of time is hard on everyone! I have a bad right knee (have fallen on it several times) and hip, so sometimes those hurt more than my feet do!
Would love to hear your chorale sometime! I love to sing, but as I’ve gotten older, my voice sometimes fails, and I can’t count on it to hold out during a church service any more. I call it “old lady voice”, as it sometimes cracks, too.
What a lovely thing to do, Jeanne. I’m sure all the caregivers will appreciate it and enjoy grabbing a “pick me up” on a long shift. Four treats really stand out for me in your choices. Kit Kata were my favorite candy bar as a young child of six or so. Every time I would go and visit my grandparents, there would be Kit kats waiting for me. i liked to put them in the fridge and get them cold. My grandmother (Nanny) and I would bake a batch of chocolate chip cookies ( she had her own version of Toll House will extras thrown in ). I use that same recipe today. Cracker Jack was a treat we would get at the movies or at the zoo and sometimes just have a home for a snack. I really wish I still had some of the little prizes that used to com in them in the early to mid 1970’s.
the last treat is Pay Day bars. I always stopped by a little newspaper/ magazine shop that had candy on the way home from high school. I would sometimes get a Pay Day or Necco wafers. My very favorite candy bar at that time was the $100, 000 bar. Those helped my get through the arduous task of Algebra and Chemistry. I aced Biology and Physiology, but Chemistry had mye in tears more often than not.
Looking forward to seeing what fabric you decide on for the lucky LD.
You are really going to make their day! What an absolutely wonderful basket. I didn’t know some of those things existed. So much more fun than just a box of candy. Plus adding your chocolate chip cookies…just perfect.
Charlotte I wear crocks and they have a lot of give that relieves pressure on my knees…not the garden shoe style…but a ballet flat that come in lots of colors and even sometimes with a foam insert. They are easy to put on and so lightweight. Hope the rest of the gathering will be fun!
Thanks for the hint about the shoes, Kathie, but I doubt I could find them to fit me. I have Really small feet!! (Size 1-1/2). It’s the bane of my existence, because I have always loved shoes!!!
Jeanne, such a nice gesture on your part for the caregivers of your Mother. I am so sorry for your loss and will keep you and your family in my Prayers for healing and comfort.
