It has been forever since I had a GIVEAWAY and I thought today would be a good day for one. In fact, I checked to see when the last one happened and IT WAS JUNE 10th, 2019! Say it ain’t so, but I guess it was! All the more reason to have one today!
I found this pretty flocked tulle at Hobby Lobby and thought it would make a pretty slip. It’s the palest shade of pink but you can barely see that in my pictures. There are 2 layers of the white dotted tulle and then the top layer is the flocked tulle. It would be a great addition to any new Spring dresses your dolls might need “pouffed out.” It will fit any 18″ American Girl doll or similar size doll.
Here are a few pictures…
My pictures were taken at 11:30 at night so they aren’t they greatest. If you’d like to see some of my other slips, you can go to the search bar; just under my pictures at the right side bar and type in Slip Giveaway and you’ll see lots from the archives.
Okay…now here’s how you can enter your name for the slip drawing.
In the comments below, (or you can hit the “Contact Me” tab just under my header at the top, and send me an email with your comments) I’d like you to tell me the most fun thing you did this weekend. It doesn’t have to be dolly related, just whatever you did that was lots of fun. That will get your name on a slip of paper for the drawing. It will be open all day Tuesday and end at midnight, (Central Time Zone) I’m in Illinois. I’ll pick out a name at midnight and post the winner of the slip on my blog post, Wednesday morning.
I hope you have a doll that’s just clamoring for a chance to win this sweet slip. It’s much prettier in person…really, it is!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Dearest Jeannie
Thinking of you. LOVING your photo of goodbye to your darling mum.
I believe the photo is worthy of Time magazine cover.
Best love
Ooh, nice–a giveaway!! April Eleanore is reminding me that SHE would like such a petticoat, and that daisies are her favorite flower!!
Most fun thing I did this weekend….sew!! I finished a mock turtleneck top that I cut out about a month ago. I’ll be wearing it one of the days I’m at the Puyallup Sewing Expo this weekend. I’m also going to be in the American Sewing Guild fashion show at Expo on Saturday, modeling another top I made recently, and the tote bag I finished a while ago. Anyone else on this list in the Seattle area who might be going to Expo? Just curious.
By the way, if you’d like to catch a glimpse of what our expo is about, just go to sewexpo.com. It is a HUGE show!! “The biggest sewing party in the nation!” Truly. I’ve gone every year since 1996, and I stay for three of the four days, take classes, meet up with friends…and SHOP!!
Ha, ha, Charlotte! I was reading your comment much too fast, and read about you saying where to find the sewing party show website, as “sexpo.com”!! Good grief!
Dear Linda, that is funny. I bet that event would be well attended (chuckle).
Oh, dear!!! No, not that, Linda!!! LOL I don’t think we’d get news coverage if that were the case!! (Well, these days, maybe we Would!! LOL But I wouldn’t be there, in that case!)
Thanks for the giggle!!
What a pretty little springtime slip, Jeanne! I have 5 dolls that could use that, so I am going to try to get it for one of them. They can share too!
The most fun thing I did this weekend? Let me say it was a beautiful couple of days, with bright sunshine, and warm, to boot! (for us) What I did that I got a lot of satisfaction and fun from, was celebrating my neighbor’s 102nd birthday Sunday! Yes, 102 years old! She lives alone, and although walks with a cane, is very self sufficient and a joy to be around. I brought her a pretty begonia plant, since she loves plants, and visited with her for the afternoon. We each had a slice of birthday cake, and looked over her many, many birthday cards she received from her church party. One funny gift she received was a mug, that says, “I’m not old, I’m just 18 with 84 years of experience”! You can’t beat that!
We have a friend too that is going on 103 (this August). She lived alone until she was 99 and actually drove until she was 98. She lives with her daughter now because she fell when she was 99. She told the doctor something was wrong with her neck and he ignored her so the bones fused so that she can’t pick up her head now. But she’s sharp as a tack and walks around the block with her walker every morning. She lives in Pueblo, CO, and we visit with her every summer when we go up there.
How wonderful, Barbara! We should be so lucky!
Please wish her a happy belated birthday from me as well, Linda. I’ll bet she is fun to visit with, how much history she has seen. Love the mug saying. I had a candle for my 30th birthday that had “I’m really 18 with 12 years experience”.
There a sweet lady at church who is well into her 90’s and sharp as a tack also. It’s enjoyable to visit with her after the service and ask her about things of long ago.
Good morning Jeanne,
I wasn’t able to comment yesterday as it was hard to get through tear free, I’m still not done reading the comments (I’m watching my grandson and don’t want to worry him as to why Nana is crying. I will go back and finish. So many touching comments and your sweet photo it’s frame worthy ). I just had to leave a hello for you. I’m happy to see you back. God bless
Hugs
Ingrid
I was at my gran daughters 1st Birthday party!! And that flocked tulle is amazing!!!
Jeanne,
Deepest sympathy in the loss of your dear Mother. There is no greater joy than to KNOW, yes to KNOW that your Mother is in heaven in the arms of Jesus. That means that according to God’s Word, she confessed herself a sinner, asked God to forgive her and come into her heart. the Bible says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. In Revelation 21:4 … And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain for the former things
are passed away. The most important decision that anyone will ever make is what they do with Jesus Christ. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me. It is a personal relationship with Jesus here on earth. We are not perfect, striving to live Godly and leaning on God for mercy, grace and strength to endure this race. This is the HOPE that we have here on earth.
My best and most fun activity over the weekend was to be in God’s house, singing praises, praying for the sick and hurting and hearing God’s Word.
Amen, Laureen!
Oh, how nice of you to do a give away! I know a cute little 7 year old who would love the slip for her new Joss AG. 🙂 Our fun weekend was visiting the grands, their parents, and other grandparents and putting together a gym bar so above grand can practice and have fun doing aerial tricks. Gift included a nice tumbling mat too. Four year old little brother is probably going to get more use from it than the seven though. 🙂
Really wish that Charlotte’s sewing expo was down here in CA. Sounds wonderful.
And Linda, please wish your neighbor a very happy belated birthday. What a great mug she received.
So wonderful to be back to looking at Jeanne’s blog again. Really missed it.
Will do, Joy, next time I see her!
My grandmother died at 101 and was sharp as a tack. 🙂 Your neighbor is just proving that getting old isn’t so bad at all.
Joy we have people come from all over the world!! I’m taking one class from a gal from Autralia! And I met one of my dearest friends there, Tonya, who comes from Utah every year. She and I (and several other friends) all stay at the same motel, and the show and tell is in my room every night! Come on up next year!!
So the most exciting thing I did this past weekend isn’t what most people consider fun.
I spent the weekend and the last few days packing to move. I am downsizing due to health issues but not happy about that part. My condo is huge and the “adult” place is half the size but it is what it is. I really do enjoy packing especially when you pull out something you haven’t seen in ages and go for a walk down memory lane. Had a few of those this last month. It’s a bittersweet move as I’ve lived here since 1994 and it is filled with tons of memories. Graduations, a wedding, my first grandchild lived her until she was 10 months old, followed by 3 brothers. All of us are very emotionally right now. But I really did have fun without even leaving the house. Lots of laughs with my granddaughter who is 21.
So glad to see you back, Jeanne. You were missed.
The fun thing I did this weekend was to relax at home and watch videos.
A slip give away. How nice! And what a beautiful slip too. I know Gracie would love this for under her new Easter dress.
I wish we had a sewing Expo here like Charlotte has. We have things like that in Dallas but not in Houston. We go through Dallas on the way to Colorado each year, but just going there for the weekend is not something we’ve done for years when we used to go up for the Arlington Highland Games each year. I’ve noticed as I get older that the idea of just staying home and relaxing is very attractive. When I was 18 I worked as a mail girl for DuPont in Wilmington, DE. Each Monday I would ask the secretaries how their weekends were and they would often answer that it was great just staying home with nothing to do. I thought how boring. My weekends back then were always packed with activity and I couldn’t understand why anyone would want to stay home and sit around. I get it now.
The most fun thing I did this weekend was sew. I love the project I’m working on now and it was fun seeing it come together. I should finish the dress today and then on to the hat.
What a lovely picture of your hand in your Mom’s, Jeanne.
I continue to hang out with my Dad. He’s doing really well. We had a relaxing weekend. No drama, no trauma is a good outcome.
Dear Jeanne,
I mentioned yesterday that I went to the Madame Alexander Doll Club Convention this weekend. I had so much dolly fun!
In a Powerpoint presentation in one the seminars, the leader showed a photo of an 8 inch cutie labeled Mali. Well, she sure spoke to me and I knew I had to have her. I came home and found her on etsy and snatched her up. She should arrive by the end of the week.
You all know that I take Afternoon Tea monthly with friends. I have begun taking along a doll, as a “stowaway,” for show and tell. I will be taking Mali to tea on Sunday. Tea and dolls, it doesn’t get any better than that!
Congrats on your new addition, Dorothy! Hope you’ll share pictures soon!
I’m debating who to take to Expo with me this year. I always take my teddy bear, Linsey McKinsey (Boyd’s Bear)–she doesn’t quite fill the space next to me that my husband does, but….
However, every year I take a doll. I think this year I’ll take Leneda (from the Leeann family); I just got her fairly recently, and she’s small enough, she might even stow away in my tote rather than staying alone in the motel room this year!
I went out to dinner with my hubby. Then we went and bought me a new phone.
I had a new shed put up in my backyard. A girl can not have too many sheds
What a great idea, a giveaway, especially with new subscribers able to participate. Please don’t put my name in, though, as I won the red fabric and trimmings last year. Molly and Kit were very happy with the dresses I made for them. I had maybe the least amount of fabric left over ever when the dresses were finished.
Maybe with new subscribers, a reminder about clicking on the blue printed sentence under the title would be good. It took me a long time to figure that out when I first started reading the blog. So glad you’re back to set my morning off right!
I just got some wonderful news! I received an e-mail from Magalie and I reached the top of her wait list. So a new Little Darling named Greer Adele should be arriving at her new home in less than a year (Magalie says right now it looks like eight months). Had to share!!!
Congrats, Barbara! That will be exciting.
Dear Barbara, I am so excited for you!!! I can’t wait to see photos of Ms. Greer Adele when she arrives.
Oh, that is wonderful news! Congrats on your Greer Adele to be. Love the name. I have several by Magalie and all are so special. She is an amazing artist.
Woohoo!! Excitement reigns in your house today!! Congrats on your new addition, Barbara! I can’t wait to see photos when you get her!!
Hmm, as far a something fun this last weekend. I guess I’d have to say going to the garden store/gift shop. It was just a quick in and out, but I enjoyed seeing the spring decor.
What a beautiful slip Jeanne. Thank you for offering the giveaway as my girls would love to have your slip. When we lived in Tacoma, I went to the sewing expo–it was very big and fun. This past weekend, a good friend from Tacoma came to visit me and my daughter and grandson came to our house to join in the fun. We went to pidgeonford and enjoyed the sights and an amusement park. It was really fun to share with my grandson.
Welcome back Jeanne Carole
Ooh, a giveaway. How exciting. I like that flocked tulle. I don’t think I have seen any like it. My weekend was pretty dull—I was dog sitting while my daughter and grandkids were out of town. I did do some sewing though! One of my Facebook groups swaps quilt blocks, and I got caught up on my February blocks and got them all in the mail. I was pretty excited about that!
I really missed you, Jeanne!! So glad you are back!! I saw the blog yesterday, but it was too late to comment. Your “hands” photo is beautiful and something for you to treasure! So very very good to have you back!! Love and big hugs, Ali
