These are a few of my favorite things…

It’s been a week since I fell and hurt my foot and wrist/thumb. I am slightly better…I graduated from the kiddy wheelchair to a walker. (Although I’m still using the wheelchair if I go someplace that requires a lot of walking.) I guess I’m following in my momma’s footsteps…we both have walkers now!!!

My foot has had a myriad of colors come and go and is now a blend of purple and pale yellow!

My thumb looks like the police have fingerprinted me. It is very sore and feels weak when I bump it.

Okay, that’s the last of the pictures of my thumb and foot… :o)

I’ve only been in my sewing room one time since last Sunday and that was to show Rebecca where some string was.

I’ve watched more than my fair share of Christmas movies. Tonight I watched The Sound of Music for probably the 50th time. I could have watched something I’ve never seen before… but why???

When I heard Julie Andrews sing “These are a few of my Favorite Things,” I thought I could show a few of my favorite Christmas pictures from the past…just a slideshow for you to enjoy… and to remember I know how to sew! :o)

Well, this is a bummer… I think the weather is too cold for my satellite…it’s taking forever to get my pictures loaded… I’m going to have to call it quits for tonight…

I hope you enjoy the few pictures I did get on here…

Blessings, Jeanne

Your foot looks a good deal better, Jeanne, and the swelling has gone down, I’m quite sure. Hopefully they will be able to take some x-rays soon, so they know what they are dealing with.

I watched “The Sound of Music” (again) tonight, too! I’m sure my husband would much rather have watched reruns of Barney Miller, and I really don’t mind that program, but it’s on I think four times a day, and how often is “The Sound of Music” on?! So I won–this time!! LOL

I’m sorry your satellite wasn’t cooperating tonight. I did enjoy your pictures. That first one is my favorite–just so cute, by the fireplace, waiting for Santa!! Navi might want to put a robe on, though–she looks chilly!!

I finished my swap (the ning Little Darling group) today–I had to remake the petticoat as I hadn’t cut the tulle full enough, plus my first one ended up with the lace not stretching once it was sewn! Might work for GiGi (TenPing’s friend) but not for an LD. So I made another one, and this time I made sure to leave the tulle a little “loose” compared to the lace, and then, with the tulle on the bottom, I stretched the lace to fit (like I do with ribbing on a t-shirt). Then I removed the gathering stitches, and my second row of stitches (topstitching) I did with a small zigzag stitch. I’m much happier with it now.

I did take pictures, and after my swap is mailed and received, and the recipient has posted pictures on ning, I will send you my pictures.

  2. Jeanne, I’m sure things aren’t moving fast enough for you concerning the ankle and wrist! For sure, stay in today!!! We had lots of snow yesterday, just beautiful coming down, but I’m not sure if you got what we did. I do believe you get freezing rain today, and then us, more snow!
I did get Christmas cards, well, about half of them, addressed and ready to go yesterday while we had the KC/Denver football game on with the snowstorm going on, both in KC and here. Nothing like addressing Christmas cards with the snow falling!

Oh, that picture of Navi is my favorite! I’m sure you were showcasing the slip, but yes, she does need a little robe there!

In case you are wondering, I usually get two blogs from you every day, one at 1:00 and one at 5:00 in the morning. The 1:00 one did not come through, as of yet, so something is amiss. Maybe the weather?

Today is cookie baking day. Also making some of your chocolate mint bark!

  3. Jeanne, I wish you a better recovery! I am so sorry!
I like to consider your dresses! Part of doing it. I spy on how you sew, what silhouette on different dolls you choose.
Recently acquired three Helen Kish dolls. I also considered your outfits for them. On some photos Helen Kish Chrysalis Doll. I really like this blonde. I keep on a note to buy one.

  4. Oh good, I get my minimum daily adult requirement of Jeanne Marie this morning! Now my day can start. 😊

I enjoyed all the small dolls in their festive outfits. I fiiiinally sewed the Christmas dress I cut out last year. I’m taking some pictures today. I also made some doll tights and something else from the leftover part of a sock. The tights were fun to make even though I managed to jam up my machine. It took cutting the stuck part away from the rest of the sock to free things up. It didn’t ruin the tights at all. I just went around the hole.

  5. Glad to hear you’re hopping along with a walker. So much better to be able to get around without someone’s help so much. With all of that down time, I’m sure you have lots of lists done and have decided what you want to sew next once your hand is ready. Looks like a lot of us were watching Sound of Music last night. Had the tunes blowing through my head all night. Thought of you when the old curtains made into play clothes part came on. How she quickly produced six sets is quite miraculous. 🙂
I’m finally working on my Ruby Red Fashion Friends beds. Not very fancy, but should be fun for the holidays. I’ve been to Joann’s three times now. Always forget something and the last time, to pick up white rick rack. And of course, there wasn’t any available. Of all things. Finally found some on a roll but when I got it home discovered that it wouldn’t be enough. Online said that they had two more rolls in stock, but after searching, they couldn’t locate them. Grrr. Maybe today I can convince other person to drive with me to the next town so I can buy some there. They are supposed to have three packs of Wrights in stock. Then I can finish the bed blankets and start the pillows. I have a deadline because the last sister Bella will be arriving here hopefully soon. 🙂

  6. Jeanne sorry to hear that you have injured yourself. I haven’t been online for about a week so I am late to the party as they say. Hope you feel better soon but those injuries seem to take their time healing. Just plenty of rest and keeping your weight off the foot.

I can’t not pick a favorite of the images you posted. I was drooling over each one. They are all so sweet especially the last two. Their faces are just gorgeous and as always dressed to pretty. I would die if I was lucky enough to own of those two.

I must be odd man out…I hate the Sound of Music movie. I love her but that movie just drives me crazy. But I have been watching tons of Christmas movie or blasting music through the house. I did watch White Christmas at least six times as it’s a family favorite.

Hope you are on your way to recovery and not pushing it by getting tons of Christmas stuff done but it sounds like your husband is on top of everything.

    Blessings

  7. Your foot does look a bit better. When will, it get x rayed?. I think the Sound of Music had some really good ratings last night. I came upstairs from altering my granddaughters skirt and it was playing so I took a break and watched my favorite part. Julie Andrews was so adorable in that part! Remember she didn’t get an Academy award for that part but got it the next year or so for Mary Poppins?
That skirt was cute and it was a bit too snug in the waist so I didn’t think it would take much to add to the waist. Seems as though 5/8” seams are a thing of the past. Luckily there were darts in the back. Whew!
Hope today is a good healing day!

Dear Jeanne, thanks for sharing some of your favorite things. I love the Sound of Music also. We performed it at my high school (a gazillion years ago). There are a few songs that are in the stage version that are not in the movie.

Piggy-backing off of Charlotte, I finally got my ning Little Darling gift box in the mail. I do not sew or craft so thank goodness for ebay! I am looking forward to the holiday swap as it is always so much fun.

We are continuing our prayers for you and hoping that you will be able to step into the new year gently on two feet.

  9. I’m taking a break from making the giant Christmas stockings for my son and his family. I was going through my e-mail and saw you had posted today so, of course, I had to immediately check it out. Glad to see you are gaining in your recovery. I think it would bother me more to not be able to sew than to not be able to get around. Park me in my sewing chair and I would be content. When I had my accident and couldn’t use my right hand, I was taking piano lessons. My hubby drove me to class and I worked on playing with my left hand.

It was 84 degrees here yesterday. Today it’s in the low 50s with a serious wind chill. Not sure what that is but it’s cold. It will be in the 30s tonight. We had the A/C on last night so we could sleep. Now the heat is on.

Keep resting as much as possible. What a good excuse for watching Christmas movies. I haven’t done that yet, but hope to soon – after I finish my Christmas have-tos.

  10. I hope your foot and hand are on the mend. It is nice that you are able to enjoy some Christmas movies. “The Sound of Music” is always enjoyable. I believe it was the first DVD I ever purchased. I know the first VHS was “Anne of Green Gables” I’m hoping to watch one tonight if time permits. We woke up to a couple of inches of snow this morning. Since it was cloudy I turned on the outdoor lights briefly to see them against the snow.
