I’m going to do my best to get the rest of the doll dresses shown today. Clearly I should have started a few days earlier.
Yesterday I was a little melancholy as my dad died on the 23rd, 46 years ago and I also ended up in the Emergency Room as my momma fell and cut her head. I read all your comments and thank you so much for your kind words but my heart wasn’t into to chatting about them. I’m glad you enjoyed seeing them (again and again) for some of you! :o)
Let’s finish these last dresses up today and then we’ll decide what comes next. Oh, Joy, you asked a question about the contest I entered Isabelle’s dress in. It was several years ago… maybe even 5 years ago. It was on the Little Darlings forum that sponsored the contest. I think I actually tied for 3rd place… I won a $50 gift certificate from Dianna Effner’s website and chose the little air clay dolls mold as my prize. I’ve made a few but this was my best one…
Let’s see what Christmas dresses I can find for Eden…
This was a homespun cotton metallic plaid and I LOVED it… It was the same kind of fabric as that plaid one with the black cape that Rebecca was shown in yesterday.
Here is Eden in her Little Women Christmas dress…
I don’t have very many dresses shown on Lily, although I LOVED her looks. She was one of my modern girls but in this Little Women segment, she went back in time just a bit!
Here are a few Regency Christmas dresses…
Nobody wears Regency dresses quite as lovely as Elizabeth does…
Now it’s Ten Ping’s turn… she only had one Christmas dress that I saw…
I can’t remember if this was a Christmas dress for Nahji and Willa or not… either way, it’s green with a touch of red… so Merry Christmas.
This was Betsy McCall’s big moment at modeling a Christmas dress…in red, gold AND green!
Somehow I missed all the Effner girls in this set of pretty Christmas dresses…
This was a fun set to work on, but it took forever to get them all dressed and standing and a million pictures taken!
Next up is Noel in her one and only Christmas dress…
Somehow I “think” I missed these few Christmas dresses from Riley and An Mei… If I showed them already…sorry… They are from some of my earliest doll sewing…
Nora was pretty neglected but she made up for it modeling this dress for Christmas…
Bailey modeled this Christmas dress along with Patsy Tonner…
Last up is tiny little Navi… she wears the tiniest Christmas dress of them all, but has the most Christmas Spirit! :o)
That’s all my Christmas dresses for this year and years past. I’m sure I probably missed some but I think this is plenty of eye candy for today…
Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate it and blessings on each and every one of you who have become my dearest friends. May the Lord bless you this next new year and give you peace and love and an abundance of prosperity!
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh Jeanne, I am so sorry to hear of your dear Momma’s fall, and hope she is recovering nicely. Also, remembering your beloved father’s passing, it must be hard, even though they say things get better with time. We all have those days when we have lost someone dear to our heart, and we will never forget them. I have lost both of my parents, but especially at this time of the year, remember them so fondly since they gave me and my sisters wonderful memories of Christmases past.
This last lineup of doll dresses must be the more recent ones. I remember most of them, and wish one of them were mine—actually more than one!
Do you still have Eden? What AG doll is she? She reminds me of Ruthie, but there is something about her that tells me she’s not Ruthie.
So here we are, down to the finish line for our Christmas celebrations! Amid all the hustle and bustle, I wish you, dear Jeanne, and all of my wonderful dolly friends, a peaceful Christmas Day!
Merry Christmas and A Healthier 2020 to You and your Whole Family
Merry Christmas Jeanne.
I offer my prayers to your mom. I hope she makes an easy recovery
Your dolls are adorable. The dresses you have made are so lovely
Best wishes to you and yours
Hope your mom is okay. As you well know, those falls can cause a lot of damage. Thinking of you both.
On a happier note, my Ruby Red Forever Friends girl Bella finally arrived yesterday after being stuck in Sacramento for five days. Yay. The pillows and coverlets for the girls beds are done and I hope to get a photo today before it starts raining.
I’m sure most everyone will be working on preparing food. For me, fruit for a fruit plate and making the topping and raspberry sauce for the always delicious cheesecake we picked up at Costco yesterday as well as a pumpkin pie. Their pies are the best. 🙂
Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas or Hanukkah enjoying the day in the best of ways. 🙂
Dear Joy, I had to chuckle about your comment about folks working on preparing food.
I am a non-cook so here is what I do. My niece hosts Christmas. I show up with a gift card from Giant to pay for the food I will be eating and a dessert of some kind, also from Giant. Easy peasy. No one expects Auntie Dorothy to cook.
I am so fortunate to have been born in this era as I don’t cook, craft, or sew. I could not have made it through earlier times (laugh).
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas.
Forgot to mention this morning, that was a great contest prize you chose. I wonder if it could be used for chocolate too? 🙂 I think more dollies should be made because that one is perfect. Very cute.
Merry Christmas Jeanne!
Dear Jeanne, we are holding you and your family in prayer and wishing a swift recovery for your Mother.
I love the dress parade. I am, of course, most drawn to the Little Darling and Boneka outfits. I admit my bias (chuckle).
I hope you have a joyous Christmas surrounded by family, friends, Reuben, and all of your precious dolls.
Isabelle looks adorable in her dress that matches her sweet little dolly’s. Good job on the doll. I’m glad you included the picture so I could understand the prize you picked. I’d never heard of these before.
I love Riley’s cute little winter outfit, especially the boots. The “Little Women” dresses are lovely, and the Effner girls look ready for every holiday celebration. All the outfits are lovely and I’m so glad you share them. I haven’t been a member long so I’ve missed a lot of these but I’m starting to see some now that I remember when you made them.
Sorry to hear about your mom. Hopefully both of you will be feeling well enough to enjoy the holidays. Praying for you both and remembering your father. No matter how long it’s been we still feel the loss of someone dear to us.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Joyous Kwanzaa or Happy Holidays as is your custom. Stay safe and healthy.
Dear Jeanne, I’m so sorry to hear about your momma’s fall and how that she is recovering quickly. I’m also sorry about the sad memory of losing your dad the day before Christmas. Christmas is also tinged with a bit of sadness for me as well. When I was in seventh grade a friend died in a house fire on Christmas Eve. Beth was a grade ahead of me, but we were in Girl Scouts together at school and they had recess at the same time as we did. The Girl Scout troup had been to her house the week before to make cookies and do a service project gathering warm clothes for the homeless. There fireplace had be lit that evening for present opening and the parent’s went to midnight mass, leaving their four children and visiting relatives at home. The fire started about 1:00. The four children, his mother, his sister and her unborn baby all died from smoke inhalation. Today marks the 39th anniversary of the tradgedy. The other sad thing is my grandmother died mid January when I was fourteen. I often stayed over my Christmas break and as we were leaving, even though I hadn’t planned to stay that year because of exams after Christmas I felt an intense desire to stay. I’m sure God was telling me something. How grateful I am that I did.
The dresses are beautiful. The little dolls are so cute. I love the Little Women dress on Lily. I didn’t realize it had the double puff sleeves as well, plus lace. The gold and cream on Elizabeth is stunning. I haven’t seen that one. The red, gold, and green trio on your Effner girls are three of my favorites. Nora’s black and white Civil War dress is just lovely. Understated elegance.
Hope you have a Merry Christmas despite the circumstances.
Wishing all friends here a Merry Christmas or Happy Christmas!!
