My hubby took note that I cooked dinner tonight…first time since last Saturday night. I guess I must be on the mend. Still not 100% but maybe 75%.
I could have continued to show a few pictures of some favorite Christmas poses, but decided to catch up on some readers pictures. We’ll do some more pictures from me in a few days.
I’m still not able to sew because my thumb is too sore to put any pressure on it… so it will just have to be pictures for now… I can’t do any dishes either… the cups and plates are too heavy for my wrist, so I guess I get to enjoy “non-dish-pan hands” for a few more days! :o)
Remember a few days back when we were discussing cleaning our houses? A few of us talked about how it looked like a disaster everywhere we looked! Well, I think it was Julia who started it, when she said it looked like a bomb had gone off in her house… then a few more of us chimed in and said one must surely have gone off in our houses too…
Well, Susette admitted hers did too. She said she used the chaise in the living room as a cutting board with a 3-foot square piece of 1/2” plastic on it and the sewing machine was in the dining room and the small ironing board is in the kitchen. It’s just hard to be “creative” and be “neat” at the same time.
Susette’s been working on some more surgical caps for her daughter-in-law… look at these pretty things… I’m sure Susette will get asked to do more…you better be prepared for “orders” Susette! :o)
Isn’t that Beauty and the Beast fabric wonderful for these? And those birds? Susette…these will be such a hit in the operating rooms!
Julia sent me some pictures of her girls in some pretty Christmas dresses. She told me she didn’t like sewing that gold fabric that trims the hem of Elizabeth’s dress. I bet it’s a lame’ fabric…
Your girls look VERY festive Julia! Nice job!!
…and look at these cute tights she made from some Dollar store socks. She even made some panties from the toes of the socks…
Joy sent me a picture and said she found out it was Hanna who pushed the mouse button and ordered roller skates and an outfit. Joy’s going to have to change the password on her computer to keep her girls from buying on the internet! :o)
Ali C. emailed me and told me FAO Schwarz was offering a one day sale on the Ruby Red Fashion Friends dolls… it ended Sunday night… It was a great sale with 25% off the dolls! Did anyone get one… besides Ali?
Tammy said she has been in England for a month and stayed in this wonderful Bed and Breakfast. The owner collected dolls! So she and Tammy’s daughter made a dollhouse! Doesn’t it look great?
Well, I think we are all caught up now on what everyone has been up to…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a fun post, Jeanne, and thanks to everyone who shared photos!! I got my swap gifts mailed off today (to points east–but I live in the Seattle area, so it could be almost anywhere! And, I also Received my swap gift today. I just din’t have time to open it and take pictures yet, but soon, I promise!!
Susette, I love the newest batch of surgical caps for your daughter-in- law. Wherever did you find Beauty and the Beast fabric? One of my favorite movies, for sure!
Julia, your dolls all look wonderful. Love the tights and panties you made from those socks–one of these days, I’m going to get to a dollar store, and do that, also!
Joy, Hanna looks as cute as can be in her roller skates–and, no doubt, quite pleased with herself for having learned how to keep her balance.
So, Ali, which of the Fashion Friends did you choose? Inquiring minds want to know! LOL
Tammy, that doll house is just wonderful! I had a very simple metal dollhouse when I was a little girl, and I adored it.
Hope you are continuing to heal, Jeanne. Take good care of yourself! (I don’t know what I’d do if I absolutely could Not sew for any length of time!!
Hi Charlotte,
I’m sitting in a chair right now with my foot up so thought I’d get a few comments posted.
I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures and hope you’ll send some pictures of your swap gift and the one you sent…
Thanks Charlotte,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Charlotte!! I got Sara!! I can’t wait for her to arrive home! Oh the agony of the wait, LOL. I also got the Pom Pom outfit. It was the boots, LOL. Gosh, I can’t hardly wait!!!
Love and Big Hugs,
Ali
Hi Ali! Congratulations! I didn’t order any of the outfits, but maybe I should have! I will at least need shoes, I’m sure….Well, my birthday is next month, so maybe I’ll treat myself! 😉
Jeanne, 75%? Woo hoo! You’re getting there!
The fabrics are fab, Suzette! Beauty and the beast looks like stained glass.
Has anyone made a pair of tights for the smaller dolls? I will be looking for socks for every holiday that comes around.
The cute little doll in the roller skates is so adorable in her skates, Joy!
The doll house is great but I want to hear about a month in England!
Hi Julia,
Thanks for your pictures today…I’ve got to make some of those tights myself…my dolls all want to model some.
We received snow last night and it’s VERY cold outside… it would be a great day for sewing or cleaning or baking…so what am I doing sitting on this chair? I guess I’m healing!!!
Thanks Julia,
Blessings, Jeanne
Well, an early Merry Christmas to Jeanne who sounds like she will be back to a 100% by then. Hopefully, that dishwasher of yours is getting a work out thereby saving you from dishpan hands. A quote from daughter, “If it won’t go in the dishwasher, we don’t have it.” 🙂 I tend to agree with her. Only a couple of large pans that hit the sink around here.
The surgical caps by Susette are an amazing show. Simply lovely. Know they will be well received. I do commiserate with scattered creative sewing as I climb between the ficus tree and ironing board to reach my sewing machine. It’s like a jungle experience.
Julia’s girls look so nice all decked out in their holiday finery. A lot of work making the outfits as well as the dressing part which paid off so nicely.
How thoughtful of the B&B owner to have Tammy’s daughter help with the dollhouse. Looks like a lot of fun to me. 🙂
And yes, we too took advantage of the FAO challenge and have Bella and an outfit on their way here. Free shipping is so great. 🙂
Thanks for the fun photos Jeanne, and hope you aren’t pushing it too much with all that is happening in the next few days.
Hi Joy,
My “hubby” has been the dishwasher around here…I think he may have a new understanding of how many dishes I wash each week! :o)
After reading about Susettes and your sewing
Setups, I am so grateful I have an actual sewing room to keep all my things in. But, I’ve been there…sewing in the living room, tubs filled with stuff behind the kids door in their bedroom and tubs stacked almost to the ceiling and under our bed in our bedroom!
So you’re going to have a full set of Ruby Red dolls!!! Congrats to you!
Blessings, Jeanne
Ooooh, I am finally able to sit down and get the flour off of everything! It was everywhere! As you might have guessed, I am baking cookies, and wonder if it is worth the trouble and mess! I take it you won’t be doing too much baking, if any, Jeanne, but that’s what bakeries are for!
I love the darling caps that Susette made! Her daughter in law will be the envy of the hospital! And yes,I have the same problems with sewing, and having things all over instead of in one room. It tends to make you not want to sew as much, since you are doing all this cleanup afterwards too.
Julia’s dolls look so pretty and well taken care of! I’m sure they are happy to be living with her! And the tights, darling! Julia certainly knows how to dress her dolls !
Joy’s Hannah looks so cute in her roller skates and outfit! I think she would rather be in ice skates and warm clothes if she lived by me with 8 inches of snow on the ground! But she sure knows how to rock roller skates!
What a darling doll house, so different than what you normally see here! My doll house is all decorated and ready for picture taking, so will send you a couple and so of my dolls doing their Christmas baking. They did not make quite the mess that I did!!
Hi Linda,
Rebecca did most of our baking Saturday. I sa a the table and made 3 Brownies in a jar for her to give to her new boss’s… that was my contribution.
Kristoffer called yesterday and said he’d like to go buy a bunch of ingredients to bring over with his Kitchen Aid mixer and make some more…I “would” like to see how his mixer works… :o)
We got snow last night…maybe 1-2″ or so… not anything like you guys!!
Thank Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, what wonderful dolly photos. I always like to hear about what other people’s “children” are doing, that way I don’t get so worried when mine are mischievous (smile). I have had much whining from time to time but no internet purchases (chuckle).
I just got a Julie Good-Kruger doll from the gift shop of the local Doll Museum. She is a real sweetie. She asked nicely to come home with me and I couldn’t say no. I don’t know much about her and I can’t find a reference book for Good-Kruger dolls. I will just muck around on the internet. I will also take her to Doll Club in January and see if anyone recognizes her.
I am glad you are doing better.
Hi Dorothy,
I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures from everyone today. I too, like to see what everyone (and their dolls) are up to!
I don’t know “anything” about the Julie Good-Kruger dolls. I’ll have to look them up and educate myself!!
Thanks Dorothy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Dorothy, I have quite a few Julie Good-Kruger dolls; I love that they look like real children’s faces, not just some stylized “beautiful” faces. Most of mine are her 16″ size, but I do have one 22″ that is just beyond gorgeous. Sadly, they are all packed away at the moment (I don’t have room to have ALL of my dolls out!!).
Julie sold her business (molds and all) to Boyd’s Bears a number of years ago, and did work with them for a few years, but now has a business called Inglenook Tiles. She and I are Facebook friends. I can email more info about her later on, but that’s a little bit to get you started. As far as I know there is no book (although she might be working on one, I’m not sure). Her dolls were very popular in the 1990s-early 2000s. Most are vinyl, but she also did some sculpts for some porcelain doll companies, I think.
I love seeing what others are doing. The surgical caps Susette makes are lovely and a great outlet for creativity. Endless options and ideas.
Julia’s girls all look so dressed up for the holidays. I have socks that look like the ones she used for the tights. I’ll keep them for me until the toes wear out and then I will make them into dolly tights. I love that idea. Who is the little cutie in the crocheted dress? I don’t recognize her.
Note to Joy: I’ve given up on making rules about the girls online shopping. They’ve got my number. They say what I don’t know won’t hurt me and they know I’m always excited to see the results of their online purchasing. Truth be told I’m never sure whether I bought it or they did. Every package that shows up is a surprise to me. Hubby asks what’s in the package and I shrug my shoulders. Seriously I can’t remember what I bought and have to check the packing slip to see who it’s for. It’s a scary world around here. Hanna does look adorable in her skating attire.
I’ve always wanted to make a doll house but have so many things I do that I haven’t got around to it – yet. My dad was in construction and he made my sister and I a traditional dollhouse when we were small. When the two younger sisters came along he made them a contemporary doll house. They were cute, but only two bedrooms. I have grandiose plans for my dollhouse, which is probably why it still lives only in my imagination.
I’m going to send along some random pictures (3 or 4) while you’re recuperating and then I will be sending the pictures from the Christmas photo shoot. At the moment I’m putting the finishing touches on the giant Christmas stockings so I can include them in the random pictures.
Wow! 75% recuperation. Not bad at all. Will keep praying for your progress and that there is no damage yet unknown.
Hi Barbara,
I love how you “occasionally” are able to “play dumb” about what arrives in the mail…that’s the best excuse I’ve heard in a long time…”my dollies must have ordered something!!” :o)
It’s great to hear that you are getting sewing completed…stockings, dolly dresses, …you are way ahead of me!!
Thanks Barbara,
Blessings, Jeanne
The red head cutie? That’s Fancy Nancy Clancy! A birthday gift from my son. She usually wears a tiara with pink diamonds. You don’t think they are real diamonds? You’ll never convince Nancy of that! 😉
The Beauty and the Beast fabric was at Joann’s among the Christmas ones. I guess it looked very Christmas-y with the stained glass effect.
Julia’s dolls are adorable in their Christmas outfits. I especially like the one with the black top and print skirt with the gold lame sash. She looks like she might have gotten that from Dollcake, the site for little girls’ fancy dresses. The tights and undies are adorable as well. How very clever and what a great job. Joy’s little sweetie sure looks like she can skate right off.
A month in England! What a treat. I lived there between 1956-58, a great long time ago. I know things have changed a lot since then. I, too, would love to hear more about her trip. What luck to find a dollhouse being built and a little girl willing to share. Thanks to everyone for sharing pictures.
Thank YOU, Susette, for you contributions to todays post. Do let us know the reactions to all the different caps…
I am living vicariously through everyone else’s sewing right now…and their decorating…and their baking!
I’m so glad you picked up sewing again… just think back on the last 3-4 years and ALL you have made!!!
Blessings, Jeanne
Thanks, Susette. Looks like I’ll have to get over there in the near future, and see if my store has any of that fabric. I think Beauty and the Beast is my very favorite of all the modern Disney movies. Of the vintage ones, it’s really a toss-up but I’d have to probably say Cinderella because of the mice sewing!!
I’m late, but wanted to comment on such a fun post.
Susette’s surgical caps are great. The bird one and Beauty and the Beast fabric are very pretty and the gingerbread one is cute and perfect for right now. I think they would be a good well of putting someone more at ease.
Julia’s dolls look wonderful. I’m sure the gold lame was difficult to sew, but it certainly makes Elizabeth’s dress extra lovely. Great job on the tights. Your Gotz little sister looks so sweet.
Joy, you better watch Hanna more closely in the future, LOL. She does look very proud of herself having pulled off a purchase. My Felicity and Samantha were naughty like that about five years ago. They were constantly hitting the BUY it Now or bidding on an auction to get the PC outfits and accessories from their collections. Felicity even had the audacity to buy more than one of certain things.
Ali, thanks for the tip, but no more dolls for me for quite a while yet.
Tammy, what a fun dollhouse your daughter got to help make. How nice to find another doll lover across the pond. What a wonderful vacation that must have been.
So glad you’re really on the mend, Jeanne. How nice that Kristoffer and Rebecca are getting the baking done for you. The treats might just be twice as sweet.
Hi Laura,
I’m glad you enjoyed the post today
It’s always nice when we get to see what’s going on around the world.
I think everyone’s dolls tries their hand at buying things online if they get the opportunity.
I’ll be glad when I get completely over this…I’m kind of stuck in limbo…my wrist and thumb are too sore to do much of anything and my foot is too sore to stay on it very long at a time.
I feel kind of useless having to be off my foot so much…
Oh well, I’m sounding a bit ungrateful so I better stop!
Thanks Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
