I’m still kicking, but only with one leg… :o)

I had to get the winner of the Vintage Velvet dress label printed out, so while I was sitting at the computer, I decided to write a quick post. I’m much better at getting my letters correct when I have a full keyboard instead of my tiny phone pad.

I have to give my hubby a big shout out for all he’s done for me… carting me everywhere I have to go… mostly just trips to the bathroom. I still can’t put any weight on my foot or take a step, so he carts me around on my mom’s old walker/chair…

He has done the dishes, he cooked fajita’s for dinner tonight, he made breakfast for me, he brings me Ibuprofen every time I need it, he even has a little chart made out for me so I don’t miss any doses, he gathered up all the things I needed to get my Vintage Velvet dress boxed up, he’s bought groceries, (he sat me in a chair and gave me a bottle of water and my phone and a snack and covered me up) before he left, he has a clothesline tied to his arm at night as he’s sleeping in the recliner and it’s stretched across my bed with a big ball of it near me, so when I have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, I can just pull on the rope and it will wake him up… :o)

We’ve had some hilarious moments with me on the walker and him wheeling me from one end of the house to the other.

The party is going on as planned Thursday night… I just won’t be the hostess this year… it’s just going to be a night out for the couples to visit with one another…

Just so you don’t think I’m making excuses about not wanting to sew any more Christmas dresses… or I’m having too much fun eating Reese’s peanut butter cups on the couch… here’s this…

Believe me! I’d much rather be sewing…

Well, my wrist is getting sore, so I better quit…

I’ll jump back in here when I can…
I miss you all!
Blessings, Jeanne

Wow, Jeanne, I thought you might take another day or two off, but here you are again, despite your injuries!

I’m so glad to hear that George is taking such good care of you! You tell him thanks from all of us, too! (I think I speak for everyone, anyway!) That’s quite a system you have rigged up for waking him to help you at night!!

Oh, your poor foot/ankle!! I hope you’re keeping it up as much as possible, and iced several times a day!

I would suggest you keep an eye on your other foot, too, and here’s why: Ibuprofen can cause foot/ankle swelling in some people (that would be I) when taken on a regular basis. If your other foot/ankle starts to swell, you will need to switch to Tylenol or something. Not to worry you–it doesn’t happen to everyone–but just a heads up.

When do you see the doctor again, hopefully to try xraying your foot again? I am hoping there is no broken bone in there, but, frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was. Will keep you in my prayers.

The dress I’m making for the swap over on the ning LD group is almost done now. I promise to send pictures after it’s been received and posted. I will tell you this much: the trim I “found” (purchased last month at the quilt/craft show and tucked away) goes with the two fabrics so well, they just SING!!!

  2. When my son had a motorcycle accident when he was away at Texas A&M and his knee was broken, his dad happened to be in the area, but when it was time for Dad to come home, I said I would come right away. His dad said, “No, wait until he realizes he needs help.” A day later I got a call: “Mom, I can’t even make a cup of coffee.” Good advice. It’s amazing how much we take for granted, isn’t it? So glad George is there for you.

I’m glad the party is going ahead and you’ll be able to go. Just be careful in that parking lot you’ve mentioned before. Wish we lived close so we could help out. Thanks for keeping us posted, or should I say “blogged.”Ss

Dear Jeanne, thank you for the update as we are all concerned. Please do take this time for yourself, though, so you can get better fast.

Your husband is a wonderful caregiver. I like the string communication system.

Here is a diversion. Let’s all take an “imaginary” trip to Lyon, France in October for the annual doll festival there. We will have so much fun! I will have to brush up on my high school French. Ooo, la, la!

Rest well, friend, and we will have a celebration when you are all better.

  4. So great to see your post today. Hope you are very careful if you make the night out for the party and don’t overdo.
Like Charlotte, I’m wondering when you will have more x rays? Seems like they should be able to do them soon.
Is there someone else who might come by and help out? Sounds like nurse George may need a break too.
Are you catching up on all of those movies you haven’t had time to view? or maybe just rewatching some of the oldies. Definitely can take your mind off of the present anyway.
Thinking of you and family and like Susette, wishing I could swing by and lend a hand.

  5. Hi Jeanne,
Just wanted to pop by and say hello. That’s quite a hubby you have there. I’m glad to hear he knows his way around the kitchen too. I agree with the girls… Rest and Keep that foot up! Changing between Ibuprofen and tylenol is a very good idea.

    Continued prayers
    Hugs
    Ingrid

  6. Here I am again, yes, again! I actually wrote much earlier this morning, only to have hit the wrong key or something and the whole thing went away! So frustrating, but I am sure not as frustrating as what you are going through now!

George is doing a wonderful job and fulfilling his marriage vows of “in sickness and in health”! I guess when he is not around, Rueben is hanging around keeping you company? How cute is that little guy?

I do wish you could have the Christmas party group or people from church come to your house one evening and do some Christmas caroling! I remember when I was a little girl, we always opened our gifts from Santa on Christmas Eve, and then stopped our playing with our dolls and presents, to come to the front door to listen to the carolers! It was such a fun time, and I really do miss caroling now!

So hang in there, Jeanne, just rest, and just remember that next year when you will be at full speed during the holidays, that you did get some downtime this year, and really didn’t like it very much! ;-(

  7. Jeanne, you rest and get well. My goodness, your leg still looks so sore and swollen. I hope you’re not getting restless because this is a time to take care of yourself – not that you don’t already… if you’re like me, you can’t stop thinking if all these things you must do.
Enjoy some Christmas movies and relaxation while you heal. Bless you Jeanne. You’ll get through this. George is so sweet and caring. Bless him too for taking such good care of you.

  8. Good to see your post this morning. I check in every day to see if you feel well enough to update us on your progress. Sounds like you still need some R&R. At least you’re in good hands with your hubby. I love your signal set-up. Wish we’d thought of that after my accident and David was in his recliner and I was in mine the first night. He was so exhausted, both emotionally and physically, that I couldn’t wake him up in the night to put down the footrest on my recliner. I had no use of my right hand. I managed to get my self up and over the footrest but he felt terrible the next day realizing I had needed his help and he didn’t hear me.

Continue to take good care of yourself and check-in whenever you feel up to it. And take your time recuperating. We want you up and on your feet for Christmas. Other things will keep.

  9. It was so nice to see the post in my email! It’s such a nice part of my morning and I have missed it. However, healing is much more important, Jeanne!

The bomb squad fiiiinally showed up and most of the debris is gone. Happy 💃 dance! That also means my decorating is done! 👍🎄

  10. No kicking anything, not with either leg! I feel your pain, I have taken a tumble or two in the last few years. Kudos to your husband for being such a good inhome nurse! Take care of you, get well asap!

  11. That’s wonderful that George is taking such good care of you. What a good system you have set up. Don’t feel bad about no more Christmas dress sewing- it’s just the way it is this year. Just rest and get better so you can enjoy Christmas!

  12. My gosh…I thought my hubby was a good caretaker but George even has him beat! What a sweetie and so inventive with his rope and ball. …but we shouldn’t be surprised he is a clever dude!Glad you can take it a bit easy. Soooo how are all those Hallmark movies? 😊😊😉 Game channel? Have any handwork things to work on?
Now is when the miles make a difference. You know your blog buddies would be there with meals and do the laundry. Sorry we can’t help but we can pray for quick healing!
    Hugs

  13. Oh my, your foot and ankle are really swollen. I can only imagine how painful that must be. I’m glad George is taking such good care of you. A good husband is such a blessing. Take good care of yourself, and I’ll be hoping for a speedy recovery!
