I crawled in bed a few minutes before midnight and realized I hadn’t even looked at my blog post today…how did that happen?
So before I went to sleep I read all your kind comments! You are all too kind and thank you so much for the wonderful compliments. Isn’t Addy darling in this?
I did it! I managed to get Addy’s dress set all pulled together and listed on Ebay. It was no small feat as my day was filled with “stuff.”
I hope this brings your first smile of the day! I love these colors on Addy! Don’t you? I’m SO glad I saved this fabric for her! I don’t know who else could have worn it better!
I’m sure I have used this name before and Autumn “Elegance” seems a bit far fetched for a Fall Festival, but that’s what Addy wanted to call it! :o)
I wanted to take some pictures outside today with all the leaves on the ground. BUT… it was terribly windy today and I really didn’t want to fight with keeping things looking like I wanted them too, so we set up an indoor scene as best I could… got out some pumpkins, a hay bale, and a sprig of flowers that Rebecca uses in her selling on Poshmark. I think it looks pretty nice framing Addy’s face! It “almost” seems like it could be outside… (if you use your imagination just a little bit.) :o)
If you want to see this listing, you can click on the picture at the right side bar or you can click HERE. The auction ends Wednesday evening.
I was going to fashion some sweet little chocolate cookies for Addy’s basket, but my brown air clay had hardened, so we sliced it into chocolate “cakes” instead of cookies. Works for me!
Here’s one more look at that crinoline without the stand in the way… sorry, but no panties on Addy… :o(
I REALLY enjoyed making this set…even though I had to remake the waistline AND the crinoline. I just love it on Addy… hope you do too!
AND… for those of you who were hoping to see it on Caroline… :o)
Have a wonderful Saturday!
See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne
The whole outfit turned out beautifully, Jeanne! It looks nice on Caroline, too, but it truly is “perfect” on Addy!!
I think you improvised quite nicely with your setting. It reminds me of what you might see at a big dance or party, where there is a themed vignette ready for each couple to have pictures taken!
Hi Charlotte,
I’m glad you like my setup…
I thought the same thing…it was “made” for Addy!
Have a nice Saturday
Blessings, Jeanne
Addy looks perfectly elegant in her new dress, Jeanne! The colors suit her so well, and hey, it ‘s autumn, so the name fits!
Yes, it was windy here too, but you did the next best thing, and the background looks perfectly “fallish” without taking too much away from the dress. And I wouldn’t worry about no panties or pantalettes, since most people collecting for Addy, or any doll from that era would have several pairs from other outfits to use. I know I do.
While Caroline looks sweet in the dress, it’s Addy who makes the dress sing! I much prefer dark haired dolls over blondes anyway. Susan is my only blonde, but it’s a dark blonde. My girlfriend from long ago had dark blonde hair, and it was called Dishwater Blonde then! Has anyone ever heard that before? Doesn’t sound too flattering, does it?
Sure do remember that name for hair color. My sister was a “dishwater blonde” when she was young. Don’t know why they called it that because it’s a pretty color.
Hi Linda,
Addy does wear the dress the best! I totally agree.
I know that saying…dishwater blonde… I think it is a blonde but not quite a bright or platinum blonde…a little more dull…
It’s still windy here but not quite as much as yesterday.
I bet you are outside…I haven’t asked for a while…how’s the knee coming along?
Blessings, Jeanne
My knee is doing fine, but………..now the other knee is bothering me!
I remember “dishwater blonde”, also, Linda–my best friend’s hair was described that way. Jeanne, you are right as to the description–a little darker and duller than real Blonde-blonde hair.
Mine, on the other hand, was almost white, it was so blonde! Eventually it did darken some–after I got into my 30s or so!! Even now, at 73, my hair is a natural dark blonde or very light brown (depending on how you look at it) and I am still waiting for gray hair!! (It’s genetic, and totally outside of my control!)
So charming on both dolls, Jeanne….you’ve made another AG winner!
Blessings.
Thank you Becky!
So glad you like it!
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, both girls look very sweet in the dress. I think that Addy is the one who really “works it,” though (smile).
I want to get a Meghan Markle (Duchess of Sussex) doll but I haven’t found one that I like. I am also thinking about getting another Iplehouse bjd. It’s funny how dolls call to us or maybe we just want a doll and imagine that they do (chuckle).
Do you collect the Royal dolls? I love the Iplehouse dolls. I don’t have any but maybe someday… There’s always room for one more dolly child at our house.
Hi Dorothy,
I don’t know anything about the Meghsn Markle dolls…I’m out of the dolly loop I guess.
BUT… I do know about dolly fever. Fortunately I don’t have a case of it right now… :o)
Hope YOU find a cure for yours soon.
Blessings, Jeanne
This dress speaks fall loud and clear. I love the setting. I agree with Charlotte that the picture looks like a photo set-up from a fall festival. The dresses sure look different on dolls with different coloring. I really like them both so maybe it will appeal to those who don’t have an Addy. I don’t think this dress will hang around long on Ebay.
We managed to get to Colorado during unseasonably warm weather. It had been cooler the week before. Really a bit disappointing but still much better than things are back in Texas. In the low 80s here with 20% humidity rather than in the 90s with 100% humidity. A few years ago when my daughter moved to the Denver area they had several feet of snow in September. We’re leaving next Wednesday and wouldn’t you know the temps next week are in the 60s and the leaves will be turning. One year we came up here in late October and fall in Gunnison was over so we came over here to find fall. We did and fell in love with this area and even went up to the Grand Mesa and found a little snow that year. No boring weather here, but even the Coloradoans are complaining summer is lasting too long this year. But they complain when it snows too early. Guess no one is 100% happy with their weather. I could suffer through living here quite happily
Hi Barbara,
Since I had mentioned Carolines name in my auction, I thought the least I could do was show her in it.
Even though the weather isnt cooperating the way you’d like it to, I hope you are still enjoying yourself.
Blessings, Jeanne
If finding you’re dream property and talking to another owner and finding out you can probably get it for close to half price counts as enjoying yourself, we’re having an over-the-moon time. We were going to bargain because it had been on the market for a long time, but we would have left a lot of money on the table. The property requires some serious preparation (leveling for building pad, removal of dead trees, etc.), and that’s what David used to do for a living, so we can do basically for free what would cost others a lot of money. We’ve been looking for five years and finally found something that works for both of us.
My father in law was born in Salida, CO. We were fortunate enough to be able to visit there before he died so he could point out all the places from his childhood. It is a beautiful area right on the Arkansas River.
Be sure to talk to a few people living in the properties closest to where the one you found is, Barbara. My kids and now even great grands have lived out there the last 30 years. Mostly they were near Denver, but about six or eight years ago my son and his four grown daughters moved to the Colorado Springs area.
My granddaughters are in, I think it’s Aurora?, not sure, but only a few months after moving into a rental property there they found out they are in the ‘tornado line’ or ‘Tornado Alley’. Seems every spring the tornadoes take a very similar route and it goes right over where they are renting right now. It’s something with the weather, upper prevailing winds or something, and those nasty storms seem to follow the same path every spring.
Also, there is an area prone to wildfires, as well. A wildfire alley, if you will. My son had his property turned into a small farm, with things growing and pigs, chickens and the usual smaller farm animals. A year and a half ago, a wildfire came through and took everything. He alone had gone to town for a part for the tractor, and there wasn’t even the tractor left. He is on the ‘fringe’ area of where these things tend to track. Each year he watched the flames over the hills, and none had come his way, but the wind was wrong that day. It was a devastating loss of all his property and all the animal’s lives, as all it left behind was the dirt.
We thanked God that he was spared, but it was truly devastating and they are all still recovering as best they can. I wouldn’t want that for anyone. Of a much less devastating nature, the racetrack they take the kids to for riding dirt bikes gets those dust storms all the time. Every season. One hit when I was out there watching them ride, and even with as fast as I could get to the truck, my ears and every orifice was filled with dirt, ugh. The area is prone to them.
Colorado is a truly beautiful state, and every state has it’s weather problems. Just check and double check, to make sure the property you found is a safe one. I hope it all works out and you can build the home of your dreams!!!
Love and big hugs, Ali
Love the photos with the sprig of flowers over the girls. Adds so much interest/color. Now, don’t take this wrong, but when my sleepy eyes were trying to focus on the first photo, I thought to myself, what’s in that basket on the ground, rocks? We have lots of rocks around here and some in baskets. Then when I enlarged it, they were square. So much for rocks, but clay cakes. Hope no one breaks a tooth. Ha ha. Love the fall colors of the dress. It should surely sell swiftly.
Hi, Joy, you’re most welcome about my sharing Home Sew. It’s my go-to place for a lot of things. That’s where I first found the antique miniature fabric I’d been looking for forever. I didn’t know what to call it. They have some on Fabric.com too, two or three more than on Home Sew, but I first learned of it on Home Sew. I also get shoes for my 18″ Gracie from there. I was telling my hubby about your trim dilemma and putting you onto Home Sew. He told me I’d probably just lost a good friend because the site is addictive. But maybe you have more self-control than I do. I just spent a couple days going through the clearance stuff and won’t even disclose the total when I was through. Wishing you happy trim buying, among other things, in the future.
Hi Barbara,
I have shopped from Home Sew for years…I love it one of their catalogs comes in the mail.
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Joy,
I wished my brown had been a little more “chocolaty” looking, but it wasn’t. I thought about calling them mocha brownies, but decided to just call them chocolate cakes.
I debated about trying to “ice” them with some white or dark brown fabric puff paint, but in the end just decided to leave them alone.
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
I love this dress, I think it looks best on Addy, even though I think Caroline is beautiful.. It is definitely Addy’s dress!!
Thank you Judi,
I’m glad you like the dress. I’m going to be sad to see this one go…
Blessings, Jeanne
I LOVE this dress, Jeanne, and you did a really beautiful job! The slip re-do was needed and just perfect when you were done!! I just love the ‘belt’ with this, too!! When Addy wears it, the dress just shines. When Caroline wears it, she shines and the dress takes a bit of a back seat. You chose the perfect model for it, too!! Well done. Very well done!!! : )
Love and big hugs,
Ali
Thank you Ali,
I’m so glad you like Addys dress set. I really like this one too. It was so much fun to bring it to life…with a little help from Addy…and Caroline.
Blessings, Jeanne
Just beautiful, Jeanne. This is such a lovely dress and Addy looks fantastic in it. Having Caroline myself, I have to say she doesn’t wear it nearly as well. Caroline IMO needs less vibrant colors and she definitely needs colors that match her gorgeous seafoam eyes and compliment her flaxen curls. Ali is right, Caroline shines all on her own, so a dress has to really stand out to not get lost on her. You certainly put this beauty together in a short amount of time.
The chocolate cakes are cute, after all who can go wrong with chocolate.
Hi Laura,
When I decided to try it on Caroline I was worried that she would “wear it better” and then it would have made a mistake to feature it on Addy instead of her… but, fortunately Caroline looked pretty in it, but I think Addy looked prettier. Next time I’ll make one especially for Caroline and let Addy be second in line for modeling it.
Thank you for your kind compliments. Laura,
Blessings ,Jeanne
