Lian did such a good job modeling her new blue dress… but *alas* it didn’t sell. I decided to lower the price and now it’s listed as a Buy It Now on Ebay. You can see it by clicking HERE… or click on the picture at the right side bar.
Autumn begins a week from today and I thought I’d share a recipe…(actually just a fun craft idea) to make for your grand kids or kids at school, a Fall Festival party, or maybe even your hubby. I made these this morning to take to church for a kind of object lesson… it was fun and guess who was in the kitchen eating my “mistakes?”
This is so much fun so I’ll copy and paste the part of my October 15, 2015th post with just the section where I’m doing the “craft” so you won’t miss a thing… My weekend was too busy and I had no time for sewing…
The name of this post was “Now here’s a recipe you can really sink your TEETH into!”
First up, is a very fun recipe! I laugh every time I see my pictures. It’s super simple and would be a great activity to do with your kids or grand kids. There are only 3 things you need…maybe 4 if you want. I didn’t take any pictures along the way as I had peanut butter all over my fingers… but it’s pretty easy to see what to do.
(I got this idea from my Kroger flyer and hadn’t looked on Pinterest to see if they were on there too. Yep, they are all over Pinterest. My hubby thought I better acknowledge Kroger as my source!)
Here’s what we’re making… “TEETH” or maybe “Vampire TEETH” if you like.
It’s so simple…
Take a red apple… I used Honey Crisp apples… because of their pretty red color…and great taste! Cut them in half, then in quarters and then into 2 or 3 slices from each quarter. (Obviously you will want to use a paring knife and get ride of the seeds and that hard section sometimes in the middle of apples.) It will depend on how big your apples are. Take the wedges and dip in Lemon Juice if you are needing to keep them for any length of time. We ate ours right away, so I didn’t use the lemon juice… It keeps the apples from turning
brownish.
I dried my apple wedges on a paper towel so the peanut butter would stick better.
Pick out 2 wedges that sort of “go together” (like lips) and using a creamy PEANUT BUTTER, spread a layer of it on both wedges. It doesn’t have to be thick, just use a knife and spread it on the bottom for one wedge and the top for another wedge.
Then add a row of miniature marshmallows across the bottom wedge so it looks like a row of teeth. (I tried to pick out the larger marshmallows for the 2 front teeth and then find the smaller, skinnier ones for the other 4 teeth… or less teeth if you have smaller apples. Add the top apple slice with the peanut butter on it on the top of your marshmallows. It looks just like a set of lips and teeth!
Reuben was pretty curious at this plate of “teeth” but then again, he’s pretty curious at just about anything.
You can add sliced almonds if you wanted to make Vampire Teeth, and Rebecca found a piece of dried pineapple in some trail mix for a “rotten” looking tooth. We tried to think of something edible that was gold for a gold tooth, but came up empty handed with the gold idea. I said maybe a raisin or a chocolate dipped marshmallow for a “missing” tooth.
Anyway, this is just simple and really fun to make and I will guarantee you’ll be laughing the whole time you’re making them…
This is one recipe that really puts a smile on your face!
I hope you enjoyed it!
I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a darling picture of Reuben and the teeth! I know just what he is thinking…..! I remember this post, and made those too, after seeing yours, and they were a hit with my grandson who was only 3 at the time! He loves marshmallows and loves apples, so he had a great time pulling the “teeth” out and eating those first. The peanut butter was somewhat a mess for a 3 year old, but he did manage to get most of it in his mouth! All the while his older sisters had fun putting them together and keeping everything going like an assembly line!
Thanks for the memories, Jeanne!
HI Linda,
They were fun to make and even MORE fun to eat. I’m glad you enjoyed seeing this again.
It’s HOT today, isn’t it?
Blessings, Jeanne
Power outage last night. Probably the first of many more to come. We can only guess that the sprinkles we’re having may have caused it. So sad that the power company no longer maintains it’s equipment as it did in the past.
Very refreshing to have wet pavement again as this is the first rain here in northern CA since May. But, it has already moved on and it will be sunny again soon.
Loved seeing your Halloween teeth. So reminds me of the giant 16″ rubber dinosaur that we gave our grand yesterday. He loved it, and I’m sure would also like making those teeth. 🙂
HI Joy,
I just can’t imagine going since May without having any rain… I hope the power outage was worth the rain… if that indeed was what caused it.
Maybe your grandson would like to help you make the teeth and then EAT them!
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Thanks so much for the reminder. We’ll be doing this in October when I visit my grandchildren. So cute and easy to do and delicious too. Much easier and takes less patience than cookies.
HI Susette,
I love a recipe/craft project that goes together quickly. I hope you have fun with this and please take some pictures of your grandkids making them. We’d love to see them.
They are so quick to make…it’s like an instant gratification project!
Thanks Susette,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a cute Fall/Halloween treat. I’m going to pass this on to my daughter-in-law, since I won’t have the grandkids again until around Christmas. My granddaughter is losing teeth at the moment so I’m sure she will make some with a tooth missing.
Photo shoot didn’t happen on Saturday. My camera was dead. It happened yesterday afternoon. I have one more to do this morning since I ran out of natural lighting in my kitchen before I was finished. I did the groups like classes to keep the pictures to a minimum. There are three. The last one is a big surprise for you.
HI Barbara,
I hope your grandkids will enjoy making these teeth sometime in the future. I’ve never done them with kids, but I bet they would be fine at making them.
I received your pictures and they are wonderful… I just might have to share them with everyone! You were busy! :o)
Thanks Barbara,
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, just back from Paris. Totally jet-lagged.
Charlotte Noelle snored on the plane all of the way home (chuckle).
Will check in tomorrow.
We love peanut butter and apples at our house. What a cute idea.
“Welcome back” Dorothy!
I hope you won’t be jet lagged for too long. Poor Charlotte Noelle… snoring all the way home! Poor little girl! :o)
I hope you’ll give the teeth a try… I think they are just fun to look at!!
Thanks Dorothy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh thank you! The grands will love this and so will my great nieces!
That is the cleverest snack I’ve seen in a very long time!
HI Kathie,
Oh, I’m so glad you like them and can use this! They are a blast to make and I think they are so much fun to see a plate full of! They really kind of crack me up! Wouldn’t it be fun to have some in someone’s refrigerator when they opened the door?
Thanks Kathie,
Blessings, Jeanne
