I bought a doll at Goodwill for $2.00!

Yes, I did… she was an ordinary looking doll, sort of tired with frazzled hair, in a satiny rose colored dress. Here she is…

HOWEVER… I didn’t buy her because I loved her, which is what you’re supposed to do when you buy a new doll… I bought her because of her shoes. They were shiny patent looking and both snaps worked… Usually the doll shoes aren’t the greatest… they have strings that tie and there is glue on them and they look like cardboard…

I also loved the little heel on them and the grids on the bottom of the soles…

I have quite a few different dolly feet at my house so I figured they would probably fit one of my girls… I was suspecting they might fit Elin or Patsy, but Patsy’s foot was too wide… So next in line to try them on was Bailey, and they were a perfect fit…

Bailey said if she had “something” to wear she’d love to show everyone… Well, she has no clothes right now, so I grabbed a scrap of fabric and you can see what we came up with…

They fit her very well and she likes them a lot! She said they will be PERFECT for all those Christmas dresses she hopes I make her…

Doll shoes start at about $6.00 to $8.00 a pair so for $2.00, I decided I’d take a chance. I’m glad I did.

My sisters didn’t get here until about 6:30 Thursday evening, so I had time to continue working in my sewing room. It’s certainly taking longer than I thought it would, but there is so much to sort out and organize. I’m trying to get like things together so it’s easier to find.

My hubby cut a triangle board to put on top of the shelf in the corner. It doesn’t fit perfectly back in that corner, but is pulled a little bit forward, so the triangle board keeps anything from falling down behind that bookshelf. I put quite a few of my empty doll boxes up there… There are a few still on top of my big fabric cabinet.

I had too many prop like things that were just sitting out in the way, so I put them on one of the shelves, out of the way, but still very easy to get to.

I put my new fabrics on the shelf, for now… just to get it put somewhere. I’m trying to just get things up off the floor, and will do some better organizing later… the plan right now it just to make it so I can get even close to my cutting table!

I gathered up ALL my kids patterns and all my ladies patterns and put them in the big boxes on this ladder shelf…

I’m getting a little bit done each day, but I have a WHOLE lot to put away. I’m already liking it because I don’t have to “dig” for anything… and I’m hoping to really streamline my room eventually!

My sisters are here and who knows what tomorrow holds. Rebecca is off, so maybe we’ll do something fun with everyone!

Thanks everyone,
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Bailey looks Very pleased with her new shoes! She might even be wishing for an outfit made from that fabric she’s “wearing”!

You are making better progress in your sewing room than I am in mine, Jeanne! I did get in there for a while tonight, but all I did was iron. It seems like a lot of my summer clothes need ironing, and I’m backed up again!!

    Have fun with your sisters!

  2. It’s looking good. I can’t wait to see it in person. Maybe I can help. I love to organize. Have a wonderful sister visit. See you soon!!!!

  3. Jeanne, your room looks great and wish you were here to help (do) mine!😁 Since surgery I was restricted on lifting and bending down so I haven’t even gone in there but I am sure getting inspiration from you as I would like to sew and not have to search and dig for everything to sit and sew. You have so much nice storage for your things your room looks great! Nice big room and it’s full of sewing goodies! Love how it is all so accessible and the triangle is perfect for boxes. Great job!

  4. Oh, you’re making progress. It won’t take you long once you get started again. It’s fun to see the changes.

    Have a great weekend Jeanne!

  5. Jeanne, those shoes are really a good buy! At first glance I thought that was Samantha’s doll, Clara! What happens with the doll now?

Yes, I do see improvement in the sewing room! Just keep plodding along, and soon you will be done! It always feels so good when you take the time to organize, and then see the results.

Sounds like you and your sisters are getting right back where you left off the last time!

  6. Well, if the shoes fit Bailey, they must be 38mm. Definitely a good buy as shoes are closer to $13.00 or more now for her with shipping.
The reorganization of your sewing room is looking good. I need to do the sewing archives as well as the dollies. Not enough room around here and no dedicated space.
My new Meadow tween Saffi is here. It was way too hot inside yesterday to even attempt putting in her eyes with earplug wax. Much cooler today, so I will get to that later. I’m hoping she can wear Toner 10er shoes or LD’s. We’ll see. 🙂

Dear Jeanne, I love the shoes. What a find!

Your sewing room is getting organized and I know you will be so happy when it is done.

I can’t wait to hear what you and your sisters do.

  8. What a terrific doll buy, even if it was just for the shoes. They are very nice. Bailey makes me smile every time I see her. Hopefully she will get a new outfit soon to go with her new shoes. You are so right about the cost of shoes. I was looking for some back-to-school shoes for my MA Lissy. She wears a 42mm but Jujus Dolly Mall doesn’t have much in that size so I checked out Debs Adorables. I was also looking for shoes for Betsy. Jujus shoes are less expensive (about half) than Debs, but Debs has a much larger selection. Sometimes I just bite the bullet and buy from Debs because she has something I can’t resist (especially boots) and that I can’t buy at Jujus. When I was on Debs the other day there was a note that the cost of her shoes would be going up. Sometimes I buy from Toutpourmapoupee for my Paola Reina, but they are also expensive. So many cute shoes, so little money. What is a dolly mommy to do?

Seems like you are really progressing on your sewing room re-organization. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

  9. cute shoes.
Yes, always straightening and going through. It is part of being a sewist and just the stuff involved. HA! I can think of plenty of other hobbies that accumulate plenty of accessories
    Have fun with your sisters.

  10. I think you are doing a great job. I’m going to try to figure out how to put my ironing board somewhere so I have the center of the room open……..hummmm Maybe I can have a small iron safe surface out and only put up the big one for serious ironing?
I bought a beautiful repro doll for her wig. It’s real hair and has braids over the head . So pretty….and yes, I have bought dolls for their shoes too 😉
    Have fun with the fam!

  11. Cute shoes, they look like a much smaller version of Samantha’s that came with her shoes and stockings set. I love those! In fact, my Samantha’s wearing them right now. I love doll shoes as well. I found a pair of kitty ones on eBay last year and had to have them. Your sewing room will get back in order little by little. Have a great time with your sisters.
