Day 2 of the Kirsten Dilemma…

Thanks everyone, for your (sometimes) very detailed description of what you saw in the pictures I showed last night. I have a few more to show you and have kept Lefty on the left side again and Righty on the right. You really took this to heart and I was thrilled with all the feedback. As of the writing of this post… (10:20p.m. Thursday evening, I have 10 who like Lefty the best and 4 who like Righty best.

Just to mix it up a little bit, I have added a few outside pictures and wanted to see if any of you changed your mind. These are more natural light pictures and maybe the shadows aren’t so prevalent as they were in my sewing room and under my lighting.

Here is a back shot of their hair… Lefty’s is a little bit longer than Righty’s.

I pulled their hair back in a loose braid to help define their facial shape… not sure it’s an accurate portrayal as Righty’s braid is looser than Lefty’s.

Righty is slightly taller than lefty…You can see that by looking at her eye socket.

I put them on the fountain and you can see the difference in their height by looking at where their shoulders hit against the fountain behind them.

Linda Gronvall sent me an email with a link in it to Dandridge House Dolls. She has 9 Kirsten dolls and tells the differences between them…

Dandridge House Dolls

I found a YouTube video about how to tell how old your AG doll is…It’s pretty interesting.

YouTube Video about AG dolls

I was going to reveal which Kirsten doll Rebecca brought home and which one is my favorite, but I think I’ll start a dress for her and reveal it on Monday. That will give me a few days to get something made… sorry…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Fun to seem more pictures of the Kirsten dolls! It looks like “righty” has slightly longer legs than “lefty, which is why she’s taller.

The different lighting in your outdoor pictures makes “righty” look a little softer and better, I think, although I still prefer “lefty!”

Thanks for the links–so interesting! My Asian Girl of Today (one of the first group of 20 that were released) also has “quite a caboose” on her (as the gal talking about her Kirstens mentioned about one of her dolls). I would imagine that someone got a little ambitious when stuffing those bodies!! LOL I also enjoyed the video–some good information there. Thanks!

    1. Thanks Charlotte,
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the girls again today… I liked their coloring very much in the outside pictures.
Also glad you enjoyed the video and link. It’s good “dolly conversation” material.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. I still like the looks of lefty. The article on the Kirsten dolls is very interesting. Certainly a lot of facts about her. I like to hear about people who really know their dolls and the changes made over the years!
Our own Laura is well versed on the history of some of the American Girl dolls. I appreciate her knowledge.

    1. Hi Paula,
Glad you enjoyed seeing the article about Kirsten too. She certainly has been through a lot of changes over the years, hasn’t she?
Yes, I appreciate Laura’s knowledge too. If you have a historical question, Laura probably has the answer!
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Just stringing us along eh? Can’t wait until Monday for the big reveal. Well, certainly learning more about Kirsten, always my very favorite. I still have no idea the age of my doll though. Since you washed the hair of the “new” doll, were you able to find an inside shoulder tag? That is if you removed the head. Just curious. I’d seen the second video but not the Dandridge House. Thank you for sharing.
The outdoor photos are great for comparison. The body colors vary slightly with righty a bit paler natural and lefty slightly more orange. For me, it is more about knowing the age/history than which one I prefer. I would like to see a close up of the hang tags too, to add information. Can’t wait to find out the “age” of both dolls should you be able to tell and reveal. 🙂

    1. Hi Joy,
I did wash the new girls hair but left her head on to do it…I do need to tighten her legs so I’ll check for that tag when I do..
I think I’m the opposite of you…most of the time I go for looks and which one makes the prettiest model instead of which one is the oldest…I did however want a first edition Felicity and finally after 3 dolls got the one I wanted.
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Thanks for the tip about the wonderful Linda Gronvall and YouTube sites. It is confusing to try to date the dolls, but I don’t really care as long as the doll is mine, mine, mine and I’m happy with her appearance. It’s always good to hear about someone who has more dolls that I do! This has been a pair of very interesting post and I’m looking forward to Monday’s edition.

    1. Hi Susette,
I am JUST like you..gimme a pretty doll and I’m thrilled!!!
I’ve been working on Mondays post and I have 2 words…VERY PRETTY!!!
      I can’t wait to share… :o)
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Who knew there were so many versions! I like the one on the left. She just seems a little more petite all around even her teeth in yesterday’s photos seemed less prominent. I want to check out Ivy sometime.

    1. Hi Dorothy,
Can you believe all the Kirsten’s that have been made… it’s really fun to know her history!
Do you have Ivy, Dorothy? I dont know anything about Ivy…other than she’s as cute as a button!
      Thanks Dorothy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Even more fun! I still like the Lefty one better. She has a more oval face and Righty has a squarer jaw line. The profile shot shows a more defined nose on lefty.
All in all to the average person they probably would not be able to tell them apart but to a “doll person” we find all kinds of little differences.
Kudos to the different manufacturers because they sure kept all the important things the way they should be.

    1. Hi Kathie
It’s fun to see that you and others are still making observations about the girls. It’s fun for me to be on this side and hear what you all are thinking!!
I showed both dolls to my hubby last night and he couldn’t tell ANY differences in the dolls.
      Silly man…
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne
