43 pictures of 3 different Colonial girls…

You read that right… I have 43 pictures in my Ebay listing… It took me all day to dress Felicity, then undress her, then dress Caroline, then undress her, then dress Elizabeth. She’s still in the dress and is quite thrilled to have been last in pictures but getting to wear the dress for now.

It turned out to be a nice day, but the sun was a bit too bright so I had to position my stand with my board and my moss on top, a couple of different times. You can see how bright it was in some of my pictures on Ebay. I’ll give you the link in a minute.

I couldn’t decide whose picture to use as my Gallery picture on Ebay… Felicity, Caroline, or Elizabeth? Rebecca and my hubby both helped me decide on the Felicity one. But it could have easily been that one of Caroline looking sideways or one of Elizabeth with a side glance. I finally just picked the clearest one of Felicity that showed the dress pretty well.

I’ll share 2 pictures of each girl here and then give you the link to the auction… I hope you enjoy seeing “your” favorite in the dress…I think they are all winners. :o) (but I’m their “mom” so I have to say that!) :o)

We should have a re-vote and see which doll is the favorite NOW… :o)

If you want to see the Ebay listing, you can click on the picture at the right side bar… or you can click HERE.

See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

I still vote for Felicity (because I do have her), but I really liked it on Elizabeth, too–it brought out the color of her eyes very well!!

I think my main issue with Caroline–and it’s not you at all, nor the outfit, don’t get me wrong–is that it is so hard to get a natural-looking BLOND-blond synthetic-hair color! They always look too shiny and too yellowish to me! And I speak from a particular point of view–until I was in my mid 30s, my hair was white-blond (after which it darkened to a dark blond/light brown color). Not “gold” or “yellow”, but WHITE-blond. For some reason, all the synthetic blond wigs I’ve seen, no matter the doll, all look like “peroxide blond” to me! That may be why I don’t have many blond dolls, except those whose hair is a darker blond, like Elizabeth’s. (I have Kirsten, and she also has a more natural-looking, darker blond hair.)

I looked at all your wonderful photos on ebay, and I just love that petticoat! I think I may NEED to go to Hobby Lobby tomorrow, and see if they have some of that ruffled “trim” (since you said it’s 10″ wide, I assume it’s sold as trim) for some of my girls, too! The necklace Rebecca made is absolutely perfect with the ensemble, and every time I see how you decorated the straw hat, I love it more!

By the way, I’m 73, and my hair is STILL dark blond! No gray hair. Good genes! 😀

    1. HI Charlotte,
I really liked the dress on Elizabeth too…and almost used HER picture as my Gallery pic… but in the end, it was for Felicity first, so I let her have top honors.

My neighbor had kids with that platinum blonde hair and it was gorgeous on them. It’s hard to tell Caroline’s hair color until you have her in person. I was pleasantly surprised when she arrived and I saw her in person for the first time. She looks a little washed out in some of my outside photos.
Thanks for your compliments on the set… I enjoyed making it and now I see I got a bid on it early this morning… YAY!
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Have a wonderful Saturday.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. As always this outfit is amazing. The lace is gorgeous and I love the print and color.

The hat is just beautiful. Everything about it is perfect. Love it tied behind her head as you can see more of her beautiful face. Nicely photographed.

Can I ask where you purchase your hats. I have been searching but not having much luck.

    Have a great weekend.

    1. HI Sandra,
Thanks for your kind comments. I bought my hats in bulk from a wholesaler out East years ago.
You can find similar hats on Etsy… I’ll give you the link…

      Straw hats for dolls

      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Thank you so much. I will check out the link. I searched on eBay a few times with no luck as it kept taking me to adult straw hats.

Have a great weekend and as always look forward to your next creation.

        Sandra

  3. Beautiful but I’m only seeing 12 pictures on the eBay listing. I think it’s a great idea to have more than one doll model your wonderful ensembles. All look great but I still like Felicity best. Congrats on another tour de force.

    1. Hi Susette,
There are 11 or 12 small pictures right under my gallery picture but if you scroll down, you’ll see all 43 pics as well as my description. Sometimes Ebay “compacts” a listing and there will be a little rectangular box when you scroll down that will say something like ” See full item description.” You have to click on that for my auction to be fully seen. I hope you can get it to work.
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. I didn’t find “see full item description” and the big pictures at the end of the listing cut off in the middle of one, but I did see lots and lots of beautiful pictures, and since you already have two eager bidders, I don’t think it matters a lot of a couple pictures are missing. Your opening picture (top of page) is a lovely introduction to this outfit. The outdoor pictures especially do justice to the outfit, but the indoor ones show that the appeal is not just in the setting.
The people who said yesterday that this would show up as a favorite in your picture galleries are right.

        1. Hi Marilyn,
Hmmmm…. I wonder why the pictures aren’t showing up for you and Susette. Maybe they are just taking longer to load? But at least you got to see some of them… I think this must be the most pictures I’ve ever had in a listing…and I had to even cut down this number… I had so many good pictures… I didn’t want to leave any of them out.
Yes, I have a bidder who has increased her bid from her first one. :o)
          Thanks Marilyn,
Hope those iris’s are blooming now…

On my computer, pictures sometimes do take longer to load on your ebay auctions (the 43 mentioned above); sometimes I need to doublecheck my internet connection, sometimes I’ll go to a different window and look at something else for a while, and then come back to it. Sometimes I get impatient (LOL) and just scroll up and down a few times until they are all loaded!!

      2. Not to worry. All pictures are right there when I scrolled down. Beautifully photographed, each and every one.

  4. Everything came together just beautifully. The fabric is perfect for the colonial ensemble and the hat is amazing. I also like it tied behind the head so the pretty lace detail isn’t covered up. Even though the outfit is amazing on all the girls and I have Elizabeth, I favor the dress on Felicity. It really does suit her coloring and just “pops” on her.

Another beautiful creation Jeanne and makes me long for some time in my sewing room which probably has cobwebs in it by now :o(

    1. Thank you Leigh,
I’m so glad you like the dress… me too and I wish everyone could see it in person. It truly is a pretty dress on any of these girls.
Oh, I hope you find time in your sewing room one of these days…even for just a short period of time… :o)

Dear Jeanne, the outfit looks adorable on all of your girls. The necklace looks so cute.

    Happy June 1!

    1. Hi Dorothy,
Happy June 1st to you too! I hope you are enjoying your day!
      Thanks for your sweet comments!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Congrats on the outdoor photos! Love how the moss covered board matches the grass so well and provides a stable place for the girls to stand. The color and lighting make the dress pop as well as girls too. Everything sharp and crisp. No muddies here. That Elizabeth has a special way of demonstrating AG in her photos. Always lovely. With the outstanding outfit and photos, it is no wonder that there are already two bids. 🙂
Hope your first June weekend is wonderful.

    1. HI Joy,
I’ve already been outside helping my hubby with the oil in a push mower…Now I need to do some inside work. It’s beautiful here today…sunshiny and so pretty… just a slight breeze that keeps it from being quite so hot. It’s 75 now but supposed to get up to 84.
Thanks for your kind compliments on the girls and their pictures. Doesn’t Elizabeth look sweet in it? She always has been my very photogenic girl… always!
      Thanks Joy,
      Have a great weekend yourself,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Beautiful dress!! The colors are stunning. I think I have to vote for Felicity; the colors of the ensemble just suit her so well! The outdoor shots are so pretty. 😁

    1. Thanks so much for your very kind words, Hanna… I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. All three girls look like this outfit was made just for them! A true winner! I love the photo of Caroline holding her hat while the sun shines on her face. Somehow, I think that captures the essence of her personality:) Both Felicity and Elizabeth are gorgeous too.
Congratulations on creating a beautiful outfit.. and already 2 bids!

    1. HI Shara,
I liked that picture of Caroline with her hat beside her too… I think she looks better with her hair showing and not covered up sometimes… She’s a very pretty doll… of course, so are my other girls… better not play favorites!
      Thanks Shara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Christine,
That picture of Caroline with her hat beside her is one of my favorites of all the ones I took of her… I think she looks so pretty posed like that… I’m glad you liked it too…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Elizabeth is my favorite! She’s the one I have of the 3models. 😉 I am also tempted to hunt up the petticoat makings. I have been sticking strictly to my stash for the last year. Making doll clothes hardly puts a dent in it! Some of my yard goods had enough to make ME something to wear! I wish Everyone an enjoyable weekend. ♥️

    1. Hi Jillaurellia,
I have to agree, Elizabeth looks pretty sweet in the pictures. She never takes a bad picture. Glad you enjoyed seeing her! I know what you mean about lots of fabric…I could practically open a fabric shop… :o)
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Caroline with her hat beside her is my favorite picture…although I still like the whole outfit on Felicity. Have you ever done a Shutterfly book? You could do one for each year of your creations. The books are such nice quality, heavy pages and making them is so much fun…and very habit forming. Shutterfly give amazing discounts too. I took pics of my granddaughters when they were little in antique dresses in the garden and made a book…It’s a treasure. Your doll dresses should be treasured too.

    1. Hi Kathie,
No, I have never done a Shutterfly book, but several ladies on here have suggested a “Look Book” featuring my dresses. I think I would love to make one…maybe some day…
I like that picture of Caroline too…she’s a real sweetheart!!
Hope your having a nice weekend…I’m getting ready to help my hubby with the grass mowing…he uses the riding mower…me? …the push mower…well, I better go…
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Good heavens,I thought I would never get to the bottom of the comments , since you have so many, Jeanne! Oh, I love the outdoor shots, each doll gives her own look to the ensemble, and I really can’t decide who is wearing it best! But I will say the outdoors give a realistic look to the dolls.

And I can’t but help to say you are fantastic with doll hair! Each doll looks just wonderfully styled to show off her beautiful locks! I love the way the hat is tied to the back, and I do think that is the way they did it most of the time, but I also wonder what did that feel like for the wearer? I wonder if they fell off sometimes! Can you imagine wearing all that, plus the undergarments too, in this heat? The things women did for vanity!

I am beat! We just unloaded two truck full of mulch and put it in various places in the yard. I think I need a shower now, if you know what organic mulch smells like!

    1. Hi Linda,
I’m beat too! I was doing the trim work with our push mower and came in to take a break. It’s HOT out there today. I’m about ready to get some mulch and put it around everything next to the house and then out in the yard around the trees… have you ever used that rubber mulch…it doesn’t discentigrate like the wood chips do?
I’m glad you enjoyed the girls outside. They enjoyed being out there too!!
I dont know how the women stood the undergarments, the tight waists, and the pantalettes in this heat either. I bet they fainted a lot!!!
My sister, Cindy did once…she was dressed up for a Civil War reenactments event and she said her dress must have been a little too tight, mixed with the heat, and out she went…
Thank goodness for shorts and tee shirts and tennis shoes!!! :o)
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. No, Jeanne, we have never used rubber mulch, but we get organic mulch, called chocolate mulch. T is actually good for the soil, but it does smell like a barnyard when you first put it down. It enriches the soil, something the rubber mulch doesn’t do.

  12. Well my day didn’t exactly go as planned. I set out to mow this morning and the idler pulley broke on the mower so all of a sudden my mower stopped dead in its tracks. We ordered a new part expedited delivery, but I won’t be mowing for a few days at least. Because I spent the morning mowing then waiting for hubby to come see what was wrong with the mower after it stopped, then ordering a new part, I’m late to commenting today but I had to weight in on “which doll”.

I saw the auction on ebay and the pictures are lovely. And so many of them. I think I’m liking Elizabeth. I don’t know why but she just has such a demure look about her and the dress really becomes her. Or maybe she becomes the dress. I like it on the others, but Elizabeth looks so sweet and kind of shy. And Jeanne, I second Linda D’s comment on your prowess with hair. I’m going to try to do better with my girls, but I haven’t much hope. I did okay with my daughter’s hair but it wasn’t a wig and her hair didn’t come off or try to whenever I tried fixing it. Perhaps I just need more patience.

    1. Hi Barbara,
Well my push mower is working just fine and giving me quite the work out! I am inside taking a break from the heat… hope your grass doesn’t grow too fast before you get your mower fixed.
I like messing with doll hair and love to come up with new styles. It just takes practice and patience and a nice wig brush…
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne
