PLEASE NOTE: Bailey’s “Funshine and Roses” outfit ends this evening on Ebay. If you haven’t seen it, and would like to take a peek, you can by clicking on the picture at the right side bar or you can click HERE. Navi’s will be ending in a few days…
Now on to Mother’s Day. When my mom moved, I put together a little shadow box outside her room. I tried to “sum” up her life with a few pictures and it was HARD! She’s SO much more that what’s shown in the box, but every picture is meaningful and she knows right where her room is because of it! :o)
If you click on the picture below, you can see it larger…if you click twice, it gets even bigger! (I just discovered that!)
The poem is one I wrote for her a few years ago…
My next 2 favorite mom’s are my sisters, Cindy and Deb. They are incredible moms and you can see them in the pictures above too… Not how they look today… they’ve gotten even BETTER than in those pictures! I love them to pieces and am SO enjoying their visit!
I hope if you’re a mom you are enjoying the joy and maybe even the company of your children, and if you aren’t a mom, may you have a blessed day too! If you are a mom to others by just being there for them, helping them, caring for them, loving on them, may you be blessed as well. I think most of us are a mom to someone!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Happy Mother’s Day to you, Jeanne, and your momma and sisters, as well as to all the other readers!
I enjoyed seeing the shadow box, and reading the things you wrote (thanks for the tip about clicking the picture twice–that really helped!).
We’ll be at church tomorrow, of course (and I teach Sunday School, also), and then out for lunch, I think. Our son is working–his 14th day in a row, as they are training new assistant managers, and he has to be there to oversee things and fill in. He’s looking forward to the end of this week when, after his first day off in over two weeks, he gets to go back to his regular store (he works at Burger King) and his regular hours! So, I’m not sure if we’ll see him or not–he may swing by on the way to work, depending on the time. I doubt we’ll see the grands–they all live some distance away–but we may hear from some of them.
Today I bought flowers and took them out to the cemetery; my mom has been gone for 12 years now (and daddy for 14). It was such a beautiful day (83 and sunny), I sat by the graves for a little while before doing the rest of my errands.
At some point tomorrow I just might get into the sewing room, too!
What a sweet and loving tribute to you dear Momma, Jeanne! I can’t get over how little she changed in appearance, from the serious little girl picture, to the young mother picture, to the lovely white haired grandma! But let me tell you this, you are your father’s daughter all the way! You look exactly like he did!
If there is anything your momma did right, it was raise her children to be so loving and caring and just plain good people. That’s really all a mother can ask and hope for.
Charlotte, since your son works for Burger King, have you had Burger King’s Impossible Burger? They tested it here in St. Louis last month before going nationwide, and it was a hit, although I haven’t had one.
I’m wishing all the mothers a very Happy Mother’s Day and all women who care for others, even though they themselves aren’t biological mothers.
No, Linda, I hadn’t heard of that one. I’ll have to ask Daniel about it. It sounds like it might be Huge! (I just looked it up…it’s vegan, not beef, so I’ll pass. [I love my real meat!] and apparently not everywhere yet–I only saw three Midwest locations listed.)
Dear Jeanne
Thanks for sharing the shadow box you made for your Mom. Your poem is so heartfelt and touching, I’m sure your Mom was so proud and happy to receive it.
Hope you are enjoying your day with family.
Happy Mother’s Day< Jeanne, to you, your Momma and all others. What a beautiful poem and such a lovely shadowbox. I'm sure your mom loves it every time she sees it. I agree with Linda that you certainly took after your dad. My, he was a handsome man.
Hope you are having a lovely day!
Happy Mother’s Day to you and all the nice ladies who are your Readers! We celebrated Mothers Day at my daughters with my sweet daughters and daughter- in – laws and my boys too. My one son gave me a baby pig planter…with apologies because after he liked it and bought it then had afterthoughts. Don’t most men shop at Tractor Supply for Mothers Day? LOL it will be cute…a little pink pig sticking out of the flowers?
Hope you had fun with your Mom and Sisters!
Belated Happy Mother’s Day to all on her that celebrate this day. I hope all of you had a wonderful day. Jeanne your shadow box is wonderful and I am sure your mother loved it. Hope you had a wonderful day surrounded by the people you love and who love you.
Love that photo of you, your sisters and your mother all together!
