Something from the archives…

I have a question….I was checking my email and hardly ever open my posts that come through looking like this…I just have a tab saved that I click on.

Some people like to read it from their email so it looks like that…but the BEST way is to click on the blue title so you’ll be taken to my actual blog site. It looks like this…

What I noticed was my pictures were not showing up on the email with the blue title.

I’ve had 5 people unsubscribe this week and wondered if maybe they did so because there were no pictures. They were new subscribers and maybe didn’t know clicking on the blue title took them to my actual site.

I am going to email them and find out if maybe that was the reason…also I’m going to find out why there ARE no pictures when viewing my blog this way.

Now, for today…we had a wonderful visit with my brother over the weekend and he’s back home now. The weather was pretty cooperative for the most part.

However, I decided to take the rest of my Sunday and just do nothing…no dishes, no cooking, no sewing, (I didn’t even step foot in my sewing room), and so I am going to give you a couple of links to posts from the archives. I hope you don’t mind…Let’s see what I was doing on April 29th for the last 4 years I was writing this blog…

The link to the posts are in burgundy above the pictures.

April 29th, 2019… Well, I hope to be busy today in my sewing room…

Here’s April 29th, 2018… (Actually it’s April 28th… I must have been too pooped to write a post on the 29th!)

Kudos to Kevin and Keith for Keen Kountertops…

Here’s April 29, 2017…

Pretty on the Prairie for Kirsten

Here’s what was happening on April 29, 2016…

Well, I hope I had at least one post in there that was new to you…or at least brought a smile to your face. :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

    Hi Jeanne,
I went back and looked, and your blog from both wordpress and gmail both come thru with photos. At least the last few I looked at did. So, I don’t know why they didn’t show up in the one you showed us, unless they were just slow to load (which I’ve had happen before when my wifi is slow)

I’m glad you took today off–after all the stuff you dealt with yesterday, you deserved it!!

It’s always fun to look back and see what we were doing a few years ago; I keep journals (and have, for a number of years), and sometimes it’s very helpful in jogging my memory–who is who in photographs, for instance, or what day was it we ran into so-and-so at the Burger King? (Of course, that only works if you remember to write those details down!!

I remember that dress for Kirsten–so pretty! I kept seeing it with long sleeves, though–of course, it wouldn’t look very summery if the sleeves were long!! The fabrics all tied together so well in that one!

Well, I actually spent a little time in my sewing room this afternoon, catching up on some projects. It felt good!!

    1. HI Charlotte,
Thanks for telling me how the posts come to your house… I’ll pass this information on the Sara and see if there is still a kink somewhere…

My blog has become sort of like a diary to me… If my hubby needs to remember something, I can figure things out from when I wrote a post. I guess it’s kind of like my journal. I don’t really want it to be one, but it’s kind of turned out to be one…

I made it in my sewing room too… eventually things will start happening again.
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. I have never seen the point of having the blue heading at the top since there is no indication that clicking on it does anything. However, it does, allowing the Comments field to display at the bottom of the blog. If there was a “Click Here for Comments” added to the line, perhaps it would encourage one to click on it so one could see the entire blog with the Comments at the bottom. I’m sure a lot more readers would comment if that field showed up without having to click on the blue line. Clicking on the blue line now, since the reset of the blog, is the first time it has connected to the blog without the blue line at the top and the Comments section appearing at the bottom.

Glad you had a nice restful weekend.

    1. HI Susette,
I had nothing to do with the way things come to everyone… Sarah set that all up… As far as the blue title… maybe it’s just a “given” that when you see blue you know it’s a link you can click on.
Maybe I can have Sarah add something that says where to add the comments.

I did have a peaceful weekend, and needed it, but today I was in my sewing room… doing a few things.
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Jeanne, I hate to confuse things more, but the blog I get at 5:00 a.m. is the one from Mailchimp , and that is the itsy bitsy writing one, that I just delete. It is like the one you have shown on the top, but it does include pictures. Why do you send out your blog from two different places? I can’t figure that out.

Yes, I do remember all those past blogs! Your garden blog had me thinking that the Amish Pickle recipe would be great for using up the veggies you would be growing.

I don’t blame you a bit for slowing down this weekend! I did the same!

    1. Hi Linda,
I don’t know the reasons for the double posts and the tiny print and blue lettering but I bet Sarah knows… I’ll have to use your comments, along with the others, to show Sarah what is happening. She’ll know what needs to be fixed.

I think I’ll save that pickle recipe for the first day of summer! :o)
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. As to the unsubscribers, I don’t know, but here is what I receive usually each day in my email:
One email from: Jeanne, dated 9-19-19 3:02 AM
Now, it is huge, hard to read and no comments. The large size is new, but it has never had the side photos or comments below. Only way to view it correctly is to click on the blue at the top which adds the photos, comments and now shrinks it to fit the screen.

Second email from: I Dream of Jeanne Marie, dated Sun, Apr. 28, 2019, 11:00 PM
This one is narrower than the Jeanne email, but also has no comments and you must click on the blue which adds the side photos and comments below.

The above two emails may arrive on the same day, or a day apart. I’ve been receiving two for at least a year or two. And have mentioned it before. Doesn’t bother me, except sometimes I may open one that I have already read. The difference appears to be in the huge size of what appears when I open the Jeanne email. I’ve always had to click on the blue at the top to add the side photos and comments below to either email.

That said, glad you had an enjoyable brother visit. And the photos from the past were fun. Are you going to plant a few tomatoes this year?

    1. Hi Joy,
Thanks for all your information about the way the blog posts come to you. I’m sure there is valuable information somewhere in there! :o)

My hubby picked up some plastic containers and was going to make a raised garden this year, but so far, I haven’t seen any signs of that happening… but we’ve been terribly busy the last month and a half. So it still might happen. He LOVES his tomatoes.
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Your blog comes into my e-mail with the blue heading and I just click on that and it takes me to your site. I’ve never tried to read it from the e-mail. Usually I just keep it up in my browser and refresh it each day. Then I check for any new comments that may have come in or new replies from you. Then I check to see if there is a new post from you and click on that to go to the new one. If I need to exit my browser, when I re-launch it I just find an old post and click on it to get to the new one. Very easy. I started doing this because your new posts come in sometimes a day late. This way, unless I’m really busy elsewhere, I keep up with things.

Your yard is absolutely beautiful. My hubby likes having a big yard, but it’s more about the space than doing anything with it. And since neither of us do well outside in the heat here, mowing and weed eating is hard enough without a lot of things to keep up. I have a couple flower beds by the house, but keeping the weeds out of them is nearly a full-time job. Still I would love to look out my windows and see more pretty stuff. Maybe in my next life.

I love the pictures of the chickens. My son used to raise chickens. I love them, and the eggs were the best. I have to admit I’m not much of a farm wife. I could do it out of necessity, but it’s not a main interest, so once Sean left home we gave up the chickens. David was working long hours and often out of town, and I had a million other things to do… Okay, I just didn’t want the job.

Since Joy hasn’t commented yet, or I would answer her directly, and my son will be here soon to help me with some outside chores, I need to get going, so I’m leaving this message for Joy. Thanks for your comment about Bailey/Patsy clothes. I had a very busy weekend so I just read your comment to me. I did remember someone mentioning that the Meadow dolls had large derrieres, so I did keep that in mind for pants. As for the difference in height, I always think my doll dress patterns are actually too long, so I’ve started to measure to get the length I want for the dress. Sofie’s Easter dress would probably work well for Lolla when I get her. On Sofie it seems too long. Since I had already hemmed the dress and cut the netting for over it, and it does look okay as is I just think it needs to be shorter, I left it.

Jeanne, I’m glad you had a nice visit with your brother and pretty good weather. I really enjoyed reading the old posts, since they were new to me.

    1. Hi Barbara,
It sounds like my posts come to you exactly the way they do to me… I’m glad things are working well in Texas! :o)

I was looking at my yard and wanting to plant some flowers in a few places… I can hardly keep up with the weeds here too, so I’m not sure I need more flowers…. I just like them for the color they add.

My hubby got rid of our hens right before he had his bladder removed last May. It’s the first time we’ve been without chickens for years. He says we’re going to get them again, but he’s enjoying his Old German Owls right now, so I think the chickens can wait.

I’m glad you enjoyed the archived posts… there is always someone new on here, so the old is the new to them! :o)
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. I too just click on the blue header in your email to open a page that has bigger type. The size in the email is super tiny…like you would need a magnifying glass to read it. It always has pictures though.
The previous years pictures are good. It’s already almost a year since your new kitchen was getting finished…..time flies.
    Have a good week!

    1. Hi Kathie,
I woke up this morning and almost painted in my kitchen, but decided I better do a dolly post to start with. It’s been awhile… and you’ll enjoy tomorrow’s post.

My kitchen will get done soon… I hope… I’m really anxious to get some handles and knobs on my cabinets! :o)
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Like Barbara, I tap on the blue heading of the first blog viewing and it sends me to the second view of your blog that allows for comments.
It’s always nice to view the pictures you’ve shared with us over time. I liked the one of the two men working in your kitchen…which makes me wonder if you have any plans for it. It’s been awhile since you’ve showed us your renovations. I realize this last year has been a very busy year for you, so no pressure on my asking.
Glad you had a nice visit with your brother.
Hope Rebecca finds the perfect bedspread. I’ve been searching for just the right bedspread for our guest room. I like putting rooms together. A passion I have besides dolls!

    1. Hi Paula,
Yes, there will be kitchen pictures in the future… I’m going to get it all finished! (sooner than later!)
I never realized there were SO many bedspreads out there… Rebecca didn’t find one yet, but she “bookmarked” a few just in case she decides she wants one she saw. It was fun looking at all the different styles with her. I hope you find the perfect one for your room too!
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. If we look only at April 29, how neat and orderly your life is — your kitchen is coming together (easily, from the appearance of this picture), the garden has been neatly planted and perfectly square, the clematis is going to be a showpiece, and you have produced yet another perfect outfit. A life without thorns. How much better could it be? You’ll have to choose another random day and see how that looks. Isn’t it nice to have a reminder that on some days, life is close to perfect? I’m so glad you did this for us, and for you.

    1. HI Marilyn,
My kitchen might not be moving along as quickly as I’d like, but I still LOVE everything we’ve done to it so far… I love my bridge faucet, my stainless steel sink, my chandelier, my ceiling, all the drawers in my kitchen, my new stove, love my countertops, the flooring, my shiplap, the light over my stove, the trim around my window and door, just everything! George says he’s glad I like it all still!

I’m glad you enjoyed my random posts on this day, for the last 5 years!
      Thank you Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne
