I guess you could say I took a little vacation…from sewing, that is… It’s been 23 days since I sat at my sewing machine…and let me tell you, it felt good and weird and normal all wrapped up in one. I loved it…just like I always do!
Can you guess who I sewed for? Well, if you’ve seen my post the last 2 days, that’s probably a no brainer…it was Bailey. She’s very similar in size to Patsy Tonner. Bailey is 11″ tall and Patsy is 10″ so the nice thing is…when I sew for one, it will most likely fit the other.
I know it’s too late for Easter dresses, but I might be able to get this dress posted by Easter…that “almost” counts, doesn’t it?
Bailey is new to me and I haven’t quite figured out all the in’s and out’s of posing her, especially getting her to stand, and the last thing I wanted was for her to fall flat on her face because I didn’t lock some joint the way was supposed to be. So…I decided to take pictures of her sitting on a chest…
Here she is in all of her cuteness…her dress is unhemmed and “un-embellished” but I still wanted to show you…
It was late at night when I took these pictures so the lighting isn’t the best…
Patsy looked better standing in the dress.
I wasn’t the only one working today… Rebecca wanted the old wardrobe my mom had in her bedroom and was doing a little work on it… She was removing the old fashioned “Hallmark wrapping paper” my mom had glued in the cabinet. It took some elbow grease and a little bit of paint thinner toward the end to get all the glue off. She wants to make it just a bit darker before she puts it in her room.
The larger East Lake piece we received from Gloria is staying in the sitting room… YAY…and will be used for blankets and sheets and whatever else I can put in there. It is pretty huge so LOTS can fit inside. YAY again!
Well, that’s it for today… stay tuned for what’s to come next…
Happy Good Friday to those who celebrate it…
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, Jeanne, it’s So Good to see you are sewing again, and life has resumed some sense of normalcy for you! Bailey’s new dress is shaping up quite nicely–I love the fabric, so springy and nice!
I got to thinking, she could be going to a Mother’s Day Tea with her mom and grandma, and so needed a new dress…..(or you could say she wore her new Easter dress….)
How nice, that Rebecca can use your mom’s old wardrobe! It will always be a special piece to Rebecca, I’m sure–particularly after putting in all that work on it! (She’ll appreciate it even more that way, right?) And you get to keep the big East Lake piece–yay! Win-win.
Hope you have a blessed Good Friday, and a happy Easter.
Thank you Charlotte,
It really was nice to be back in familiar territory…I loved it! So did Bailey…did you see that cute smile on her face?
A Mothers Day tea sounds nice…thanks for the idea…
Rebecca was working on her wardrobe again today…my hubby has to fix a couple of the drawers and add some shelves where the big open part is…maybe in a few days she’ll have it in her room…
I hope you had a blessed Good Friday too!
Blessings, Jeanne
Good morning, Jeanne! Things are getting back to normal, all right, you in the sewing room, and me back at home! We took a short trek to Branson, and saw it in all it’s spring glory! I can’t believe the full, in bloom lilacs, the beautiful dogwood and redbud, and tulips! I mean, we do have those things here, but they aren’t all blooming yet. Since Branson is farther south than St. Louis, it starts earlier there, maybe a week or two. But when we got home, our dogwoods were also blooming, in two days, the little buds fully opened while we were gone. That’s how fast spring comes here!
Little Bailey is so cute! You mentioned it was night when you took the pictures, so I guess that’s why her hair looks more brown and less red, at least on my monitor. Her little dress is adorable and what about that hair clip? A cute bow instead? I know you are just holding her hair back, but a bow will make it look cute! That’s wonderful that a doll Patsy’s size will also be able to wear each other’s clothes!
I swear, that wardrobe look exactly like the one my grandmother had in her bedroom! She had two, and that was the “good” one. Her house had just one closet, so that was a very needed piece of furniture! What a difference between that and the walk-in closets of today! That certainly is a tight space to work in to get that paper off! Rebecca is a very determined girl, for sure!
I too, am wishing everyone a Blessed Easter season!
I am actually the same old Linda D.! Not sure why the “S” was there!
Good evening “Linda S”
Sorry, I had to…
Things are really blooming around here too. The redbud and the Bradford pear trees just might be my favorites…I love seeing color on the trees instead of just brown branches…
I’m glad you had an enjoyable time in Branson…it would be hard not to have a good time there.
I only had one light on when I took Bailey’s pics last night
..rest assured, her wig is still bright red! I’m not sure of her hair accessory yet…still deciding. I just hemmed her dress and now I’m working on it again…
Tebecca rubbed some Old English on the wardrobe and darkened it up a little bit
It looks rich and beautiful now…
Happy Early Easter to you too!
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh Jeannie, you are learning how mischievous these Dumplings can be when standing:)
They seem to prefer sitting or leaning against something. Photo sessions are always sketchy with these little minxes?
I’m so happy you are back in the sewing room! It’s truly where we regenerate .. my creative soul lives in mine and just soaking up its vibes is inspiring.
Rebecca’s piece has nice bones.. and belonging to her grandmother will make it even more special 🙂
The East Lake armoire is beautiful!
Hi Shara,
I’ve heard about the Dumplings being cantankerous about standing but until I had Bailey, I didn’t know exactly what they meant. I’ll get used to her and learn how she works soon…
As a seamstress, I’m sure you knew exactly how I felt being back in my sewing room. It felt so good and I hope to get back in there in just a little while…
Thanks so much, Shara,
Blessings, Jeanne
How exciting to see Bailey and Patsy in the latest Jeanne Marie fashion. There has been a lot of talk lately on the Meadow Face Book about getting the Meadow girls to stand/pose properly. Things like making sure the leg slots are forward and the back is in the right slot. You can do a search and find all of the helpful information if needed. Although sometimes, when frustrated or tired, they just collapse in a heap on the floor. I think they are prone to tantrums. 🙂
I think Rebecca’s new/old wardrobe is a wonderful piece. Removing the wrapping paper is a fresh idea although, being old, I kind of liked it. Our daughter 37, older than Rebecca, likes the dark wood look too, and would not have liked the papered back. I would love to see the finished piece. It will be a perfect addition to her room.
I’ve almost finished Stella May’s bunny outfit. Kind of a disaster, but she doesn’t seem to notice. 🙂
Hi Joy,
I’ve seen those posts about how to get them to stand…and know about getting her back piece right…Nyssa has that too…and Elin…when Bailey gets some shoes on, I’ll work on that a little more.
Rebecca has been working on her wardrobe again today…its going to be so pretty…
She wanted t take the paper out because it sort of had an old smell to it…my mom probably papered it 30 years ago…
I saw Stella May’s bunny suit and she looked adorable… you did a great job on it!!!
Thanks Joy
Blessings, Jeanne
Ohhh…she looks so freaky cute! Is that vintage fabric by chance? I have a piece in pink that looks identical…and I think it was my Grandmas’s
Yes , so nice to be sewing again and for your newest cutie. Those eyes are amazing…she just sparkles.
Rebecca will love that wardrobe ..what kind of wood is it? We had one that I used for “the babies room” and my daughter used it for her kids. It was white and we striped it and it was oak underneath all that paint.
Linda, Our Redbud (which is lavender) is blooming too. It is such a welcome sign of spring.!
