DON’T FORGET: Samantha/Nellie’s dress ends on Ebay tonight (Friday) I hope you’ll take a peek at it again to see if one of your girls needs it for Easter! :o) You can see it by clicking on the picture at the right side bar or you can click HERE.
Poor little Patsy’s been waiting all day
To see if I’d work on her dress once more
I walked in my room and she made me stay
She said I must sew and skip all my chores
I gathered my flowers to match her dress
Then sewed up a band from a sweet blue check
The flowers were added without a mess
It turned out so pretty and not a wreck
Tied under her chin, it’s Patsy’s delight
She loves how it looks and hope you do too
I’ll try hard to finish her dress tonight
I hope it looks Eastery, yes, I do!
In case you didn’t know, a Sonnet has 14 lines and rhymes every other line… PLUS the lines can only have 10 syllables each! A bit tricky…but I did it! I hope you liked it. Just the goofy side of me coming through. I have to admit though, I do love Dr. Suess’s style a bit more…it’s easier to do! :o)
Okay, so now let’s see some pictures of that bonnet… This isn’t one of the straw hats that I make myself…it’s a purchased straw hat. I don’t think I have ever pulled one of these little straw hats down to make it into a bonnet…always just left it to sit on the dolls head.
I used parchment (paper) flowers to decorate the hat with and tried to pick up the colors of the dress.
I made this so the winner doesn’t have to fiddle with tying it under your dolls chin. I added Velcro to the ends of the strap that goes under her chin, then you just have to match up the Velcro and it’s done! Simple, huh?
Here’s Patsy showing you the complete look with her dress and bonnet…
I hope to get some more done on it, but today is “Tax day” so I’ll have to see…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne,
I thought I would write a sonnet to you,
but alas, no time to sit here and rhyme,
so just sitting to write will have to do!!
Well, that’ does rhyme, kind of, doesn’t it, but it sure doesn’t cut it as a sonnet, especially since I need a fourth line!! I remember having to make some up in college literature classes, and thought it was so much fun!
Now to that adorable bonnet! Leave it to you to make something different out of the ordinary! I have never seen a straw hat tied up like that either! It certainly makes it unique and I can see that Patsy is completely charmed by it! What is also so cute, is the several little flowers you have sewn underneath the rim in the front! Another Jeanne Marie touch!
I can just see that pink jacket or cape on Patsy making the outfit complete, and completely daring!!
Oh taxes,….. you have them too? 🙁 Fortunately, Michael was an accountant and does ours every year. I think we have already spent our refund!!!
Not to forget, Lian’s (really Betsy’s) dress came yesterday, and is just darling! I love the label inside, too!
HI Linda,
Well, I enjoyed your first 3 lines!!! Okay… so I finished your poem with a 4th line…
I thought I would write a sonnet to you
But alas, no time to sit here and rhyme
So just sitting to write will have to do
I’ll work on it later…some other time
I said whatever I was going to do might be slightly different. A bonnet from a brimmed hat. The hats are bendable enough to get away with it and it was just slightly too small for Patsy’s head, just to sit on top, so I decided this would probably work. I’m glad you like it.
I haven’t made it into my sewing room yet… we left the tax guy, headed to mom’s to take care of some things, went by Walmart to pick up a few things, and now we are heading to a birthday party for dear Sara.
It’s been a long day already and we aren’t even done yet! But tomorrow’s Saturday. I don’t think I have anything on my calendar!
I’m so glad you and Betsy love Lian’s hand me down dress!
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Love the hat treatment especially the flowers underneath the brim. Patsy is such an adorable model!!
Thanks Shara,
I’m glad you like Patsy’s hat. It was fun to do a “craft” project in the middle of the sewing!
Thanks so much!
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh someone’s going to be the star of the Easter parade! Love the combo of flowers on the hat, and I’m sure the Velcro will make putting the hat on much easier for Patsy. 🙂
And there goes that talented Jeanne this time writing a Sonnet for our enjoyment. Hope you have a nice weekend. Other house is back on the market, so we hoping to sell it this time. Open house Sunday! See you there. 🙂
Thanks Joy,
It is pretty easy to put on, just put the hat on her head, hold down the side with the short Velcro tab with your thumb, (the left side looking at her) and pull the strap under her chin and easily lay it across the long piece of Velcro on the short tab. Then fluff out her bow a bit! Viola!
I haven’t written a Sonnet in decades… so it’s a wonder I could do it!
Sell that house! Sell that house! Sell that house!!!!!
Wish I COULD come for open house… wouldn’t that be fun?
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Such a sweet outfit. I love the hat and all the flowers. So perfect. With the little pink jacket she can wear her outfit all spring and without the jacket into the summer. Or wear it for cooler summer evenings if and when they occur. That used to happen sometimes when I lived in the northeast.
Great sonnet! I do like Patsy’s idea of sewing and skipping chores. If only they weren’t still there when we’re finished sewing. As far as Patsy’s dress looking “Eastery”, no worries, I think you’ve already accomplished that with this adorable outfit. I’m a Velcro enthusiast, to the point that I have it in a ton of colors and try to match it to outfits when I can. Otherwise it’s white or beige.
Do you crochet? There are several hat patterns of all types for dolls that are for crochet. Pixie Faire has one that is for several size dolls and it’s a bowler. So cute.
Hi Barbara,
I love dolly things that have lots of pieces to them… hats, thigh highs, slips, jackets, hair bows, etc!! More fun that way!
I “especially ” like the part about skipping chores!
I crochet a little bit…
oops I just looked at the clock… gotta run to Sara’s birthday party!
Bye, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, Patsy looks adorable in that dress and she knows it. From the look on her face, I can tell that she is not going to give it up without a fight. I think you better have a bribe on hand (laugh).
I forgot to wish everyone a Happy International Women’s Day!!!
HI Dorothy,
We were just over at Sara’s birthday party and were told by a “guy” that today was International Women’s Day! I was so busy today I had no idea!
Thanks for your sweet comments on Patsy’s bonnet. I think I better have a nice big Easter bunny on hand when I take this dress off her, what do you think??? :o)
Thanks Dorothy,
Blessings, Jeanne
New computer. I’ll have to figure some things out as it only works sometimes — not a good sign — and most print is tiny. Your blog is a slim column between two huge margins and all the figures are elongated. I’m sure we can get some of the problems worked out — it will just take a while.
Patsy’s dress is so spring-like and pretty and her bonnet is charming. Like everyone else, I like the flowers. Jacket or cape? Purse?
I think of the auction for Willa’s outfit as yours, forgetting that it’s not. It’s almost over. I’m so glad Linda got the last outfit. And I’m so glad we have sunshine here.
HI Marilyn,
I suppose congratulations are in order on your new computer, but it sounds like there are still a few glitches to work out. I hope your nephew gets things figured out soon for you!
How weird what my blog post looks like. It must be strange to see it that way.
Jacket. Purse? Maybe…
I’m glad you have sunshine too…computer problems and gloomy days don’t go together very well. I hope the sun shines for days… just for you!
Thanks Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
Yay! Willa is getting her dress back. I won the purple dress on Ebay and Willa will get it when Anna is old enough to appreciate it. Fortunately Anna’s mother is great with hair, and Anna has a Barbie to practice doll care and keeping on. In the meantime, Willa is here collecting clothes. Anna is now three and loves clothes. Janeane, her grandmother and my sister, says it’s hard to take someone seriously when they are dressed as Poppy the troll. Anna’s taste may need development, but she knows what she likes.
You’ll laugh Marilyn, and I hope Jeanne will too, but I just won the Patsy spring dress. I really like that one. Guess it has been busy at the bay today. 🙂
HI Joy,
Oh my goodness, another one sold! I’m thrilled for your Patsy..and I bet SHE will be too! Mommy… you DO love me after all! I can just hear it!
Busy at the bay today is right… but not tonight… Samantha’s dress just ended and no sale on it… boo hoo… what to do, what to do…
Oh well,
Thanks for making me smile, Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Marilyn,
Oh how fun that you won that dress for Willa! My goodness, my dresses are coming full circle, almost! :o) Thanks for helping that seller out!
Anna must surely keep you all in stitches! How lovely she sounds (and looks!)
Thanks Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
And now I’m laughing, since it looks like Jeanne’s dresses sold on EBay by a third party all came back to our little group!
I won Lian’s, Marilyn won Willa’s and Joy won Patsy’s!
HI Linda,
It’s funny and so very sweet of you all to buy them from the seller. I hope you are all happy with them!
Blessings, Jeanne
I’m really glad about this. Jeanne’s dresses know where they belong — this will be a nice surprise for Jeanne when she gets home.
HI Marilyn,
I just got home a little while and I AM surprised and thrilled all wrapped in one! Thanks so much everyone for believing in my sewing so much! I better get in there and see what I can do for Patsy!
Thanks so much,
Blessings, Jeanne
