Nyssa’s up next…but I need some help…

Nyssa needed to get out of her box and take her turn at modeling! I keep her in her box so her French resin doesn’t turn yellow. She’s been in there since I made her that black and cream bohemian dress! Yikes! Who’s happy she was picked? She is!!!

I wanted to give that Bohemian dress pattern another try…

This was the last one I made… and I loved it but I thought I’d try it in something more Spring-like this next time.

After redoing my fabrics the last few days I think I created a monster…I saw so many color combinations and pretty fabrics that worked together and I probably spent 2 hours studying and mixing fabrics but just couldn’t decide by myself which one looked best for Nyssa…maybe you all can help.

Here are a couple of combinations I put together…all kind of Springy, except I found this vintage navy dotted swiss and a navy and white print that I liked too.

Any likes or dislikes? You can comment below or send me an email through “contact me” under my header.

Since this post was so short, how about a few more Valentine dresses while we still have a few days till it’s official!

This was a dress made for Wren Chrysalis, a 14″ Helen Kish doll. It’s made out of one of the fabrics I picked for Nyssa and is probably my all time favorite pink print.

Here’s Katie Effanbee, a 13″ doll I used to have… she’s modeling a pretty blue hearts Valentine print dress. It’s not your typical fabric, but oh, so, pretty!

…and one more for today… How about Isabelle, my 13″ Dianna Effner, Little Darling, modeling her Valentine dress from 2011… This was a fun one to make from a pattern I created, complete with hat and heart purse!

Thanks everyone,
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Hm, I’m not normally a “blue” person, but I like both of the “blue-blue” combinations. However, what I’d Really like to see is either one of the navy prints combined with a White fabric. White dotted Swiss, white dimity, white-on-white print, white voile/organdy/sateen….I can see either a 50s-style dress in the polka dot with white collar and cuffs, white belt, maybe a white hat or bag, or a more modern style in the other print, again trimmed or combined with white in some way.

As to the Valentine dresses, my favorite of those three, hands down, is Isabelle’s. I just LOVE that bodice style!! It is adorable on her, and if you sold the pattern, I would buy it!! Such a cute style, and it could be done in so many different fabrics!!

Ron is still a little weak, but starting to feel better. Thanks, everyone!

  2. Jeanne, I do love that first selection, the red paisley style print, with blue and white checks best of all! I think it would make a great Bohemian style dress, and it’s not the usual material you normally see with doll dresses. However, since you want this to be a spring dress, I do like that flowered pink material with the pink and white dots. Maybe the pink one now, and the red one for summer, or when you get around to another dress for Nyssa? Let’s see what others think.

The navy and white I do love too, but you just showed one of a dress for her that you previously made in black, and it looks too much like that one, so I’m thinking of not using that right now. The blue, I don’t really care for that much.

Oh, Isabelle is the darling of the bunch with that perfectly fashioned pink dress! And that purse, is just perfect for Valentine’s Day!

  3. I like the first combination, too, with the red paisley with blue check trim. Paisley is my favorite fabric design. Have fun with that great pattern.

  4. I would love to see the bodice and sleeve ruffles in a white, maybe even a third tier for the sleeves and the skirt portion made with the red paisley and blue check. Then instead of a hat maybe an embellished gypsy style head scarf. What could be more bohemian? Can’t wait to see what you decide to do. I’m a sucker for paisley but since I usually sew for smaller dolls I almost never get to “play”with paisley since it’s so hard to find small paisley prints. Decisions, decisions, decisions. . . .

  5. The combinations are lovely, but for me the navy group is the best with the bohemian pattern. It is smart and up to date.
I love anything Wren wears. She’s just that kind of girl. 🙂
My latest Meadow dolly came by way of pack mule yesterday from Sacramento, to San Francisco, headed north to Petaluma, and finally arrived here in Santa Rosa in the middle of the night. So, if all goes well, she will arrive this morning on my doorstep. Can’t wait to meet her. 🙂
I’m sure Nyssa is relieved to be box free for awhile and anxious for that new dress. Looking forward to seeing the final choice.

  6. I may be the only one who likes the pink flowered print with the pink polka dot as the choice – the combination looks so springy. Is springy even a word? I do like all the other combinations, and considering Valentine’s Day, perhaps the pink is over used in February?
Any of the choices will look great on Nyssa, that much is for sure.

  7. All of the choices are lovely but I’m crazy about the red print with the blue and white check!! She would be so cute in that!
    Have fun choosing!

  8. I like the navy, but it’s so close to the black that, though I think it would be lovely on Nyssa, I’m deciding against it today. The paisley is a fabric you once used for Addy for a dress I’m still sorry I don’t have, isn’t it? I think I’m saving it for another Addy dress, and today I’m going to join Paula in voting for the pink, which will be especially pretty if Nyssa chooses to wear her dark wig. To go with it, I’m going with Dorothy on the embellished headscarf. With embellishment in the right place, she might even look like she’s wearing earrings. That might be fun. Or you could once again offer two head coverings — the headscarf and a pretty hat. If I were Nyssa, I’d vote for that.

Isabelle could wear a dustmop and make it look lovely. Then there’s Wren, whom I’ve always liked and who always modeled with style, and she looks as beautiful as ever. Everything about Katie’s dress makes it special. You’ve got a lot of winners here today, but you always do. I think Molly’s last dress is going to join these favorites next year.

  9. My vote is for the navy combo.
To make it truly boho. some tan trimmings and a lighter tan underskirt.
Not exactly springish, but Nyssa isn’t a little girl, she might even be a faun.
Side tied headscarf with dangly bits.
I know that you will make something wonderful, whatever you choose.
Hope everyone is recovering from the Arctic blast/ we’ve just had a heatwave and now wildfires.

    1. Oh, and Isabelle’s dress is perfect. How amazing that you are able to make a pattern like that one. Lots of us would like you to open an Etsy shop to sell patterns for your designs

  10. Dear Jeanne, I agree with Paula. I think the pink polka dots and the floral print look the best.
The Kish doll is new to me. I like her dress.
I have plans for a play date with my dolls at a friend’s house tomorrow. I am anticipating great fun!

  11. My comment will be short today. Linda took the words right out of my mouth, all of them, so I’ll let her do the typing.

Jeanne, I love the Luminaria patterns and have them for several of my dolls. Can’t wait to see what you come up with.

  12. I love all the valentine dresses! I think my choice for Nyssa would be the red and blue paisley with the blush check. Something about that combination just fits the “bohemian” theme. My second choice would be the navy blue. I’ll be waiting to see what you choose.

  13. Getting in late, but wanted to get my pick in of the pinks. Second would be the paisley and blue check. I like the brighter spring-like colors this time, since you did the dark colors for Nyssa the last time.
