I hope you like it because I’ve gotten Caroline undressed and just about ready to take all those bobby pins out of her hair. I’m wondering what it will look like when I let everything down. I’ll never be able to replicate this again, so I hope you enjoyed it.
I know her hairstyle had nothing to do with her dress, but I wanted her to look really pretty when she modeled this dress for me (and you!)
So this set ended up with these pieces… the dress, pantalettes, hairband, necklace, fingerless gloves and fichu. I’ll show you some of my favorite pictures from our photo shoot. She was a remarkable model. I do need to tighten her legs so she can stand on her own in the future.
I think you’ll be able to see what all is included, so I think I’ll make this a slide show with just a few tidbits added. That way I might even get it listed on Ebay… but no promises. I’m waiting on a call from Amy and we might go out to dinner. So I’ll see what I can get accomplished.
You’ve seen the dress, but I forgot to zoom in on the little silk ribbons attached at the side. I used tiny gold beads to accent them.
Here’s a close up of the fabric… I love it!!!!
Caroline’s fichu is made from a wonderful soft and flexible embroidered lace. It can be folded any way you like and pulled up to make a collar if you like. Put in on your doll first and then slip on the dress…
Her pantalettes are made from a pretty white eyelet fabric with a beautiful edging of Swiss Batiste lace that had rose floss run through the beading. You can see that I used Elizabeth’s shoes with the roses on the toes… I think it looks better than those green ones I used first.
I hadn’t shown you a close up picture of the necklace Rebecca made for Caroline. You can see it better off than on…
When I thought I was all done, I remembered Linda (I think) mentioned something about some gloves… so I made a pair of my fingerless gloves in white with tiny white pearls.
I took a piece of peachy pink lace and added some parchment roses and stitched some pearls on the band. A piece of Velcro was attached to the ends so the winner can use it however they have their doll’s hair fixed.
Okay, that’s all the accessories, so do you want to see some more pictures of Caroline’s hair? I thought so…
That’s probably enough… I need to save some for the listing on Ebay.
Well, I hope you enjoyed seeing Caroline’s Debut dress. I’m off to start listing it. I hope someone out there needs a new Regency dress.
Thanks everyone,
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Everything turned out just lovely, Jeanne! I’m so glad to see you used both colors of ribbon (something I hadn’t thought of) on her gown. Her accessories are lovely, too, and I think the hair band could even be used if her hair was just hanging down as it normally is (which is a good thing for hair-challenged doll mommies like me!). It looks so pretty and feminine–some dolly will love to have it, and will probably try to see what else she can wear it with!
I found out that my regular sewing machine is fixed (Yaaaaa!!) but isn’t back at the Viking store yet, as the repairman got more snow where he lives than we did here!! He’s going to try go get back over on this side of the Sound tomorrow, so here’s hoping!
Thank you Charlotte,
I’m glad you like everything about Caroline’s new dress set…and her hairstyle. I have her hair taken down now and the curls are back. I might try the hair band on with her hair down, as you suggested.
I hope you’ve gotten your machine back…I’m lost if mine has to be repaired. I have another one, and my moms now, but I just like the one I’m used to.
Thanks Charlotte,
Blessings, Jeanne
Actually, Jeanne, I have FIVE sewing machines, so I’m not totally bereft! LOL But I do love my Viking #1+ the best.
It won’t be back until Friday, though, as Bill still has a lot of snow around his house, and with all those hills……but at least I know it’s done, and coming home soon!!
Finally we get to see the whole outfit together! Just perfect, Jeanne! Yes, that material is beautiful, so colorful and yet period correct! Her hair is perfection! I have to ask, you never did mention this that I can recall, but are those two tiny braids her actual hair, or a separate hairpiece? The headband is just so different and perfect for the outfit!
I think, that when someone mentions Regency dresses, they are mostly talking about what a woman would wear, the lower neckline, the straight skirts, etc., but this one looks very age correct for a little girl. I see too many doll clothes put on dolls who are children, that are actually styled for adults, and as a result, just looks wrong to me. Little girls didn’t hobble around in tight skirts and heels!
The shoes do go better than the green ones, I think, and oh, those pretty pantalettes! Everything worked out so well, and poor Caroline will now find out what goes on there at your house!
We again woke up to a snowy morning, but it’s not a bad one, just pretty!
Hi Linda,
Thanks for your kind words about Caroline’s new dress and hairstyle.
Those were 2 tiny braids I did on each side and then laid across the top of her head, pinning them behind her ears.
Yes, poor Caroline was wondering why I was removing her dress…
We had some slushy stuff on the car last night when I came out of my mom’s. I spent the evening with Amy and momma, so I didn’t get the dress listed, but I got up this morning and finished it, so Caroline’s dress will go on Ebay this evening.
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, Very nice and you are certainly having fun with your new miss! Sylvia
Thank you, Sylvia,
I’m glad you like Caroline’s new dress set!
Yes, I am having fun with Caroline, but she’s been put on the dolly shelf till her next turn.
Thank you again,
Blessings, Jeanne
Caroline is a gorgeous girl and the perfect model!
Her hair looks fabulous as does her dress.
Congratulations on creating such a beautiful ensemble ??
Thank you so much, Shara,
I appreciate your very kind words!
Blessings, Jeanne
Well, Caroline could not look more lovely. So fun to see her completed dress and attractive hairstyle. You should probably sell your secret hair makers design book of styles. I’m sure it would become a best seller. 🙂
I do believe we’re getting more rain today and just when things were starting to dry out a bit.
Meeting with the tax man today. Oh boy!
Hi Joy,
Oh yes, my book on doll hairstyles…I’ll get right on that right away. :o)
Oh boy, taxes and rain…my 2 favorites!! Sorry!
I hope you’re not too soggy or broke!
Blessings, Jeanne
I was blown away by Caroline’s beautiful hairstyle and the adornment! Can’t let my girls see these pictures or they will want me to duplicate the hairstyle. I have five H4H dolls and they all have wonderful hair. I leave their hair natural and put a headband or bow in it. That’s the extent of my hairstyling.
I love all the accessories for Caroline’s ensemble. I would have used both color ribbons too. I love doing that. Her pantalettes are so sweet and I love her fingerless gloves. The fabric is beautiful and I love the colors. The fichu is a perfect added touch and Rebecca’s necklace is definitely the finishing touch. The shoes are perfect.
Hi Barbara,
Thank you for your kind compliments on Caroline’s hair and dress set. It took a while to get this one finished but I love how it turned out too.
I’m always glad when I like my sets as much as everyone else does.
Thanks Barbara,
Blessings, Jeanne
Caroline looks absolutely stunning. I just knew you would nail the Regency Hairstyle, and you certainly did. I don’t think you could have picked a more lovely fabric. The colors are just gorgeous on Caroline and your dress design is just perfect.
Thank you for your sweet comments on Caroline’s dress. I’m so glad you had confidence in me getting this one finished and looking like it does… finally.
Thank you so much,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a lovely debut dress for Caroline. Elizabeth’s shoes are a great choice. I hung unto those when I sold my Elizabeth. They’re very versatile. What a beautiful piece of fabric you chose and the ribbons are so sweet. The necklace Rebecca made complements it perfectly. Her hairstyle is gorgeous and the fingerless gloves complete the look. I’m glad you’re enjoying your newest girl. By the way, I think it’s time to update your “My Dolls” page with your newest arrival.
Hi Laura,
I owe my love for Caroline to you. You told me time and time again how lovely she was and you were right. She is very pretty and I love her sweet look.
I’m so glad you like everything about her first dress. That means the world to me to read all your compliments.
The listing goes on Ebay this evening so you’ll be able to see her in all her glory!
I DO need to update my dolls page…taking some out and adding some new ones in! Thanks for the remind!
Thank you Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
I really like the Elizabeth/Felicity shoes too, but my favorites are the ones with snap on bows. I want to make more bows and rosettes in different colors for them.
Got to talk our friends & their girls today and was told the girls (1st grade and kindergarten) have been consistently doing great, and they’re ready for their dolls to come to their house. So, I will pack them up and mail them. I gave them two eBay TLC dolls re-wigged with rainbow hair and a Kit and Kailey with kid-friendly clothes suited to the girls’ interests. One set has a lot of dishes/food and the other is sports and movie themed. Their parents said it was fine to give them AGs 2 years ago, but wanted to wait until they were more responsible for them to go from my house to theirs.
So I get to “play dollies” a bit before I have to shift gears since it looks like our 4 year old great-grandson may be coming to stay with us for a bit and he is into books, trucks/cars, puzzles, Wii, and “helping” gma and gpa. Luckily we have a lot of snow, a 12 foot hill in our yard, and a sled to entertain him right now too.
