A Dress, a Tree and some Ornaments for Thee…

Just a Reminder:
My “Graceful in Green” Regency dress ends Wednesday evening on Ebay. (That’s tonight!) If you want to see it again, you can click on the picture at the right side bar or you can click HERE.

P.S. Patsy’s dress sold Tuesday evening! YAY!

Well, it was a good day for me… I managed to get Navi’s “replacement” dress set finished and sent off. I’m saying a prayer this time that it makes it all the way home to the buyer! I couldn’t have asked for anyone nicer to have bought it.

This was the original set… that unfortunately got lost in the mail…

…and this is the replacement I made and shipped off today. I changed the shoes to slip on instead of the Mary Jane’s as the strap kind of got in the way of the bows…

It snowed here today… but didn’t amount to much. It sure was pretty when it was coming down hard…

I finished decorating my Christmas tree and almost don’t want to show you because the lighting isn’t right in here tonight but I guess I’ll go ahead and spill the beans anyway. I don’t have a tree skirt under the tree yet and the rest of my house is a wreck, so my tree is sort of “cropped” in as much as I could…

Here is a picture of it without the flash and then one with a flash…

Maybe I can show you better pictures tomorrow.

Want to see the first ornament I hung on my tree?

Three guesses as to who made that? If you guessed my sister, Cindy, you were right. I have 2 of those and just love them.

Here are a few more shots of my ornaments and my “lovely” popcorn… :o) I love it if you hadn’t guessed! See that red bird with the long tail feathers…it’s one of two that I have from my hubby’s mom.

This is my other bird… they clip onto the branches..

My favorite hobby…sewing and my hubby’s favorite… Reuben…

Well, this will have to be it for today…and I’m not 100% certain that I’ll be back tomorrow… I think I need to take care of some “momma” things… she was pretty confused tonight on the phone and I thought maybe I’d take her and a friend to the old Thrift shop again. They seemed to like it when I did that before.

I also have a staff Christmas Party Wednesday night and that will run late, so I might just have to do some pictures from the archives…

Thanks everyone…
Blessings, Jeanne

    Congrats on Patsy’s dress selling!

I think the replacement outfit for Navi is every bit as nice as the original; the purchaser should be quite pleased!

I love you tree! We, too, have many ornaments with “history”–it’s what makes them so special! I have my favorite ornament from my childhood–a blue ball with stars and mons around it. Of course, it’s gotten rather faded and worn-looking after mumbledy number of years, but I still love it!

Don’t worry about us, Jeanne–do what you need to for/with your mom. I”m sure we’ll all understand, and keep the chatter going, too, no doubt!

  2. Oh, Jeanne, I love your tree! It almost looks like it’s dancing!! That’s the best part of a tree, all the past ornaments and the stories behind them, who gave them to you, and where you found them. I have two trees, one upstairs in the living room, and one downstairs in the family room, and they get more crowded every year! But to me, that’s the fun part, seeing the ornaments that you have put away just a year ago again, just like seeing old friends again!

Wanted to ask you about that angel on the top of your tree. What is it made of? My tree doesn’t have a strong branch at the top to put anything on, things just “flop” over. How do you get that angel to stand up so well?

Yes, we had snow all day yesterday, and it stuck too! We had about an inch, but the temps kept things melting every once in awhile, but it sure was pretty coming down! I think since we are a bit farther north than you, it was colder here. Brrrr!

Navi’s new set is every bit as darling as the original! Let’s all say a prayer that it gets to it’s destination!

Do what you need to do today, Jeanne. I’m shopping with my daughter today and hope to wrap up most all the things I need to buy today, except for a few odds and ends. I need to get my package to Denver wrapped and sent too before it gets too late. We will be here, as always, and will wait patiently to hear about your new adventures, and plans for the Christmas party!

    1. I really don’t have a place for two trees and often think I would love to have more than one so each tree would have its own set of ornaments. But each year after I manage to get the one tree up, I wonder how I’d find time to do another. Especially since I do it all myself these days.

  3. Getting excited seeing your lovely tree. So many fond memories. Love those vintage ornaments. Maybe we’ll have to dig out the tree and put it up this year. Many boxes to remove first though.
I am now in love with Informed Delivery by the USPO. I checked in yesterday, user name and password, and the usual things appeared, but there was a package! And the tracking number was that from Sweden! They don’t always photo packages so no actual photo, but I was on alert. Made the dash to the porch, signed for the package, with a big smile and managed to stash it under a chair all before other person arrived asking what we got in the mail. 🙂 It’s not like I just bought something is it? I’ve been waiting about eight months for her. And I was busy most of the day, but finally had a moment alone to open the package and admire it’s contents. We have a new girl who can’t stop smiling. Her wig is perfect, and I hope to install her eyes when there is more light than just a flashlight. The eyes are a gray/purplish color. I’ll try them and also the pair of green I bought for Tella and have never installed. And the poor thing is wrapped in a Christmas hat. She needs something warm to wear. Guess I’ll have to raid the 10er tub again and see if there is anything appropriate for such a cutie. I think the Christmas spirit has arrived here. 🙂
Hopefully, your mom will be ready to shop today. So nice of you to take a friend along too. And we want you to remain well and healthy so please try not to overdo.. Know that is difficult at this time of year though. Keep warm. 🙂

    1. This story sounds all too familiar. I’m always at the house and hubby is usually down at his shop, but somehow he manages to find the packages I missed on the porch. Usually a new member of the family. Darn! He also gets the mail when he walks our dog after lunch. He finds all the little things I order, hands the packages to me commenting, looks like the girls have been doing some online shopping again.

        Hahahahaha!!

Congrats on the new girl, Joy! You gals do what I do sometimes–hide things until a more opportune time to open them! Haven’t ordered a new dolly in at least a month or two thought! LOL However, sometimes fabric comes that way….and the other day a Featherweight followed me home from the sewing place! LOL I did ‘fess up to that one, and he can’t understand why I’m so excited about a 70-year-old sewing machine!

  4. Your tree is simply beautiful, Jeanne!! It looks like crystals are all over it. It just sparkles. The ornaments you pointed out are treasures. I imagine many of your readers have special treasures on their tree, whether it’s inherited or collected over the years. Even handmade ornaments from our children or special friends.
Thank you for sharing the pictures of your tree.

I have a story about a doll i bought on EBay and lost after it was delivered!!
She was a beautiful redhead with green eyes. In March of 2017, we were in California and I told my son to look out for several packages that would be arriving at our house back home. A few days later, he said they had arrived.
Shortly after that, I had my niece open all the package on Face Time to assure me they had arrived in good condition. She opened them all and even though the tracking number said my redheaded doll arrived, she was not one of the packages!!
I called the post office- their records showed it was delivered. My niece checked with our neighbors in case it ended up there by mistake, but that hadn’t happened- I hated to think of it but could it had been stolen? We didn’t think so because the other packages arrived with the doll. I thought it must be in some black hole in outer space then. It will always be a mystery.
Roll ahead to November 2018, we’re drivung out to California again. I get a text from my niece. She was going to mop our kitchen floor for us and got the Swifter box out of the closet where we keep our supplies. She opened the box to find a redheaded doll with green eyes hiding in the Swifter box!!
We found out, my dear son, thinking he was being helpful, put the packages on the counter and the Swifter box in the closet where supplies went!!! He never noticed the post address label.
What’s worse, I cleaned that closet out later on that year and never noticed the post address label either on that postal box.
My niece sent me a picture of the postal label – sure enough, my name and the seller’s name was plainly on the box!!
So the doll had been sitting in that Swifter box for over a year in our closet all this time !!
So, I’ll have to wait to get home next spring to see “my lost doll!”

So the lost dress that you sent, Jeanne, hopefully will show up. It’s most likely on a trip if it’s own, lost somewhere and we’ll return at some point!

    1. This story was hilarious. You owe this dolly a very nice new wardrobe. I guess she can wait till you get back home though. She’s probably just glad to get out of the Swiffer box.

  5. Love your story, Paula. Mail that travels in odd boxes can easily be misplaced. I received a 200 year old silver spoon from England that was mailed in a cereal box. It came with no problems but could easily have come flat.
And I love your tree, Jeanne. It will keep us all cheerful and happy and ready to keep working on Christmas. I’ll be interested in seeing your tree skirt. Your life sounds busier by the day.
And Joy’s new girl — none of us want to wait to see her, but I suppose she needs her eyes installed first. It would be fun to see Paula’s redhead too.
I am making a mince cake. It’s more like a brownie — thin and no frosting — but round, so you can cut slices as thin as you like. It has the smell and flavor of mincemeat pie, but is not as strong. I have a mince pie plate from Emma Bridgewater and wanted something to go on it. This works, though I should try square for Christmas — small squares will look better on the plate.

  6. Your tree is very pretty. Love the clip on birds and the angel on top. It’s very heartwarming and festive. The popcorn reminds me of my childhood. Lots of wondrful memories as I am sure you have too with your wonderful ornaments. The new outfit turned out just as pretty as the original. I also loved your Polly Anna outfit. It really looks like the one Haley Mills is wearing in the pictures. So pretty. Thank you for the info on the tailors clapper. I am ordering one so that it will be ready for Christmas. Got to run still unpacking and organizing my sewing room, but love to read your blog Have ffun with your Mom tomorrow

  7. IMarilyn: I liked your story of the 200!yest old spoon in a cereal box!! How interesting and so glad you received it safely.
And Joy, we can’t wait to see your new girl. You sound so excited about it.

  8. First of all, you should take whatever time you need with your mom. Enjoy! Your blogs are worth waiting for.

I love your tree. You have a perfect corner for it. I put mine in the corner window of my dining room but when it’s up my table and chairs need to be moved to the left, which leaves my dining room somewhat out of kilter since I also need to be able to get to my piano. As you will see when I finally send off a picture, my whole dining room during the Christmas season is taken over by my holiday decorations. But it is a pretty sight. As for what the rest of your house looks like we can probably all relate. My village houses are in several large boxes. They are in the dining area of my kitchen and it’s hard keeping them out of the walkway. My dining chairs are huge and heavy and they’re sitting everywhere in the dining room because I can’t put them back around the table until I’m done installing my village, which is taking longer this year because of the longer table. I’m having to evaluate every placement. For years there was only one way for it to go and I had it memorized.

Your replacement Navi outfit is as adorable as the first and I love the shoes. My smallest doll is about 8″. It’s hard to imagine something as small as Navi. The pictures all make her look bigger she is so well proportioned. So glad the Patsy dress sold. It is adorable. And, according to my check, your “Graceful in Green” sold too. Wonderful!

  9. Jeanne, I just discovered your Blog..You dolls are Amazing!! They are dressed so Beautiful. Did you make all those also? Please let me know..GOD Bless, Rebecca
