Well, this certainly is going to be a random post… that’s kind of the way my life is right now… a bit random. One day this, one day that, a little bit of this and a little bit of that… random, I tell you, random! I even looked up the word “random” to see if I had it correct… yep!
Random = a haphazard course; without definite aim, direction, rule or method; lacking a definite plan, purpose or pattern. That’s my life… one day it’s working on the couples party, then it’s doing dishes, then it’s going to my mom’s apartment, going to a ladies brunch, doing more alterations for my hubby and Rebecca, fixing a sweater that came apart for a friend, cooking a turkey that I just had to buy because they were .29 cents a pound, then it’s…well, you get it! I’m busy!
I hadn’t even made it into my sewing room for 2 days, but I went in there today… to fix that sweater, but unfortunately nothing dolly related…
Oh, but wait… yes there is something…
My new sofa… Rebecca texted me today with a picture of a pretty pinkish sofa and asked me if I liked it? She said it was $1299… not $1299… but $12.99! It’s a tiny jewelry box that looks like a sofa. It’s a soft microsuede fabric in the sweetest powder pink color. YES… I replied back to her… Yes, I want it! It’s the perfect size for Navi and Ten Ping… but Navi is the only one in the pictures… Ten Ping didn’t have anything to wear except her panties and right now she is bald as Navi stole her wig.
Okay back to that couch… look at this… I am in love with it. Rebecca was quite pleased with herself for spotting it in Ross’s.
When it’s opened up, a jewelry box for holding rings is under the “cushions!” Navi told me it could hold her shoes! :o)
I think it’s adorable… and it will go with her pink and white bedroom set too.
Okay, the next random subject… my mom’s new baby doll.
Susette sent my mom a box and asked me to give it to her. I did that today… Here are some pictures of her opening up the box. A sweet Corelle 20″ baby doll was inside and it got quite the reaction from my mom. I wasn’t sure what she would do. I was snapping pictures of her opening it up and hoped some of the pictures would turn out.
When she pulled the baby up to her and kissed her, I was surprised… but it was so sweet, I almost started crying.
She asked me again who gave it to her and I said “One of the ladies who reads my blog… she lives in California and her name is Susette.” Then my mom said what could she name it? She asked again what the lady’s name was again… I told her Susette…and we both said at the same time, “Suzie?” I thought that was perfect and we both were on the same wavelength!! She had her sitting on the couch when I left… Thank you Susette… that was very sweet of you! My mom wanted to know why she sent her a baby doll and I said, “I guess Susette figured I loved dolls… maybe you did too! ”
The last random thought today has to do with Hannah; my nieces little girl. She was in a play Sunday night called “Wrapping All the Way” and the characters were kind of like the ones in the Grinch… like Cindy Lou in Whoville…
This was what my sister Cindy told me about the play…
The story begins in Tuneville where all the Toonies love Christmas so much they want to make it Christmas every day. The candy, the lights, the tinsel, the carols were all so loved that the King of Tuneville, King Dazzlebaum, made a decree that Christmas should be celebrated everyday! But wait, we see that the big “Tinsel Mania” celebration could be threatened by a turn of events. After some turn of events we see that Christmas is not about the glitz and glamour of the season but about something far greater!
Cindy fixed Hannah’s hair in the “Biggest Updo” and it’s so adorable. She said it took her about 40 minutes to do it.
I heard it though the grapevine that toilet paper was wrapped all around it so Hannah could “possibly” save it overnight and wear it to school Monday! :o)
Well, how’s that for random? I hope something here today brought a smile to your face…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
This post may have been “random”, but it was sure fun!!
I love the little sofa! As you know, I have Ten Ping, also, and I have a feeling she would love to have her own cushy place to sit! Looks like I will have to head over to Ross and see if that have it in our store, too! (Navi is right–that would be the perfect place to store her shoes!)
I’m not at all surprised at your mom’s reaction to her new doll, Suzie. How thoughtful of Susette to send it to her! My own mother had dementia for a number of years and one time, while she was still somewhat functional and able to live at home with dad, I brought down my newest doll, Lizzie, by the Johannes Zook company. Lizzie looks like a toddler, and the expression on her face is that of a young child who has just seen her first Christmas lights! That “ohhhh!” kind of look. My mother sat and held her and talked to her for the longset time. It actually rather surprised me, as mom was never much of a “doll person”, but Lizzie captivated her. I always meant to bring her back again, but never did, and not too long afterwards, she went into an adult care home, and a few months later she had a stroke, and went downhill from there.
What a fun hairdo Hannah has! I hope wrapping it in t.p. worked for keeping it in tact so she could enjoy it one more day! I remember in the 1960s, girls used to rat their hair into high, full “beehive” hairdos, and would wrap their hair in t.p. every night so they wouldn’t have to combe it all out and start over the next morning!
Random, is certainly the word, Jeanne! I love to read these “random” blogs, Jeanne, because you never know what is coming!
A pink sofa? At first when I read the title, I though, oh, Jeanne got a new sofa, and then I thought, PINK? How does George feel about that? Then when I was trying to visualize your living room with a pink sofa, I got to the next part where it is a miniature sofa for a doll!!! Whew! Oh that is so sweet, and just the thing for Navi and your smaller dolls! Next thing you know, you will have a little dollhouse all set up for her! Great find, Rebecca!
How very sweet of Susette to send your mother a doll! Leave it to Susette to find just the right thing for someone! It looks like the doll, Suzie, or Susie, can even wear regular baby clothes! If she is anything like me, she will be very busy with that dolly!! I can’t get over how much dolls have taken over my life, but in a good way! They sure do make me happy! By the way, my very first doll was also named Susie, but for the life of me I can’t remember what she looked like, other than she was a baby doll! Like I said it was my first doll, which meant a VERY long time ago!
Wow, Hannah’s new hairdo must have really turned heads! I hope she took the school bus to school, because I can’t imagine her being able to get into a car with that “do”! Was there something inside that “tower” of hair” that held it upright? What can’t Cindy do? Oh, I know, she can’t sew doll clothes like Jeanne can!!
Thank you Jeanne for a wonderful, heartwarming, and fun blog today that put a smile on my face—–you did it all!
Ah, sofa envy! Love it. Must go to Ross right away. Ha Ha.
So sweet of Susette to think of that dolly for your mom. Me thinks little Suzie needs a Christmas dress and some shoes. Probably some thigh highs or tights too. Add that to your list of Random things. 🙂
I’m sure Hannah was the star of the Christmas play. What unusual “big hair.” And what an artist Cindy is too. I’m stumped as to what exactly is under there to make it stand up like that? Just for reference you know. Especially since I am totally inept with hair. 🙂
Love random. Is everything together for that couples party? Such a busy time of year. Take a nap when you can.
This was a wonderful blog entry. I can’t wait to see Ten Ping on the sofa. And they are right about the shoes.
Joy has a great idea — your mom’s new doll needs a Christmas dress. That might be the next (last) Christmas dress of the season. I’d love to see you make her one, but it is a busy season and many stores have lots and lots of Christmas dresses that would probably fit and often they cost less than the fabric it would take to make one, not to mention the time.
Wow that was a fun blog post today! I totally enjoyed it. I loved he pink sofa. It would work for several of my small dolls. Can’t let them see your blog or I’m in trouble. I bought the cutest gold wicker table, chairs and settee for my small dolls a few years ago and had a small china tea set that went great with it. When the weather warms up I’ll take a picture of them having a tea party on the “patio”.
That was such a sweet picture of your mom and her new dolly companion. And so nice of Suzette to think of her. I have tons of baby doll clothes patterns but no baby doll. I think my granddaughter is getting a baby doll for Christmas. Perhaps I can use them for her doll.
Now for the hairdo. Amazing! Such talent and what a lovely model. I’m useless with hair. My daughter was in competitive dancing for several years. They had to have their hair in French braids. When my hubby’s second daughter was available she would do it for her and she was good at it. After she graduated from high school and wasn’t around as much, I actually had to take my daughter to a hair salon and pay them to do it. My daughter had long, thick hair and I was totally all thumbs trying to deal with it. It was certainly less frustrating to pay someone else to do it. Cheap at twice the price.
I’m still working on my village. I had my last concert yesterday and a choir party last night so I think I’m free of commitments for awhile and getting it, and the boxes that go with it, taken care of is my first priority.
I agree with Joy. If you don’t have time to make a Christmas dress for your mom’s new dolly, they have some really cute baby dresses in the stores that I’m sure would fit.
I guess I forgot to put Anonymous on the box, but I don’t know if the post office would have accepted it. I had bought the doll when Riya was born nine years ago. Turns out she and her brother were born with healthy heads of dark hair, so I didn’t know if she would like the bald baby, which is the way I was born. So when someone mentioned older people with possible memory deficits liking baby dolls, I knew where she belonged. Please tell Momma how much pleasure you’ve given me for years now, Jeanne, with the blog.
The hairdo is the wildest I’ve ever seen. Yes, we all want to know how the top is done, not that I could do more than comb or brush a head of hair. Beautiful hair and must have wonderful texture, too. Beautiful model, too. This looks like the ultimate “suffer for your art” hairdo. Where did she get the idea, from the cartoon?
I think I’m off to Ross to check on that sofa. Ten Ping won’t be happy if I don’t try.
Dear Jeanne, it really is all about dolls. Navi’s sofa, your Mother getting Susie, and your niece who is a living doll! Voila!
What a sweet little sofa for your tiniest girls. I’m sure it will get lots of use in your listings.
Aww, how sweet of you Susette to send Jeanne’s mom a baby doll to love. I’m sure she will enjoy having Suzie. Yes, she does need some clothes. A new Christmas dress would be lovely.
Hannah looks adorable with that hairdo. What a great job Cindy did on it. I’m assuming that inside the top part is something like the “hair rats” that women used to use to make their hair poof up.
Hi Jeanne,
Such a fun post… I also briefly thought oh my word A PINK COUCH oh boy! Until I scrolled down and saw it was a mini couch, so very cute! What a sweet find. It looks adorable in your photographs.
What a nice idea Susette had and so very kind of her to send your momma something to fuss over. My mother-in law who suffered from Alzheimer’s had a teddy that she cuddled with everyday. I noticed when she held it she seemed calmer. I think it was a comfort to her.
That hairdo is so cute. It reminds me of the fancy do’s in Dr Suess’s Movie “The Grinch” with Jim Carrey. She could be the new Cindy Lou Who! LOL I hope the TP helped and she was able to wear it the next day.
Have a good evening.
Hugs
Ingrid
I loved your post today – so many things going on and it was nice of you to share with us.
The little pink sofa is absolutely adorable! Perfect for Navi and Ten Ping. I’ve never seen a jewel box like that. The picture of Navi standing up against the back of the sofa is precious. How many times have we seen little children do that?
That was so sweet of Suzette to send your Mom a baby doll. I think she may enjoy having the doll around, especially since your world is surrounded by dolls. She may find a new interest. I hope so.
Now Cindy did a fabulous job on Hannah’s hair- amazing!! I bet Hannah was so pleased with the Cindylou look! Now that play would have been worth seeing. Teachers are so clever and it’s always so much fun for the students.
Well Jeanne, despite your businest, you always manage to write us all such interesting posts. Thank you for that!
For the last 2 years, my doll club has purchased, cleaned, weighted and dressed baby dolls to donate to a local Alzheimer Care Group. Studies have shown that many dementia patients, both female and male, react very positively to having a baby doll to care for. The feedback we’ve received from recipients’ families, via the Care Group, has been encouraging and heartwarming. Many of the patients even objected to having their babies undressed to have their clothes laundered – which needs to be done periodically. We now make sure that each donated baby has a 2nd outfit to change into plus an extra blanket to be wrapped in. Wonderful that your mom has reacted so positively to the delightful gift of that baby doll!
