Some pictures for this chilly day…

ANOTHER REMINDER:
My green eyed Ellowyne doll, listed on Ebay will end this evening (Wednesday) so don’t forget to check on her if you need an extra doll! :o) You can see her by clicking her picture at the right side bar or you can click HERE.

Today’s a good day to stay inside and make a big pot of soup, drink hot chocolate, curl up in your favorite sweater and check out these pictures on your tablet or phone! It’s SO nice when I receive pictures in my email from readers of my blog. Today was too busy and I was at a loss of what to write about, so the day was saved by Charlotte, Susette, Linda and Marilyn and ONE by me! Thank you ladies.

Let’s get started…. Click on the pictures to enlarge them and see all the details.

A few weeks ago, for Halloween, Charlotte and her friend, Marika, took their dolls to lunch, at a 50’s diner. I told her to send me some pictures and she did… doesn’t this place look fabulous?

Charlotte is in the tan coat… she was bummed because she forgot to take her coat off and show her Halloween T-shirt.

Charlotte’s doll is April Eleanore and she’s dressed as a clown…outfit of course… made by Charlotte! Her friend, Marika’s doll, Annie, is dressed in a sparkly witch costume.

Susette made little 8″ Ten Ping a sweet slip from a scrap of lace she found at a fabric store. It’s not too full, but Ten Ping is pretty tiny and she thinks it perfect! So will you!

After Susette got Ten Ping to take off her slip, she had her put on the kimono she made her for some pictures with her 8″ Russian friend, Katia. She’s a Paulinette doll who has on a sweet dress and is carrying her baby doll… (everyone go AWWWW!!!)

Since I was selling my Ellowyne dolls, Susette sent me a picture of “her” Ellowyne playing the piano… she’s very pretty and Susette says she plays very well too! :o)

Linda already has her girls dressed for Thanksgiving… (She probably already has her menu made out for her dinner too!) :o)
Look at these sweet girls!

Marilyn sent me this picture from her friends front porch in Boulder, Colorado.

Then I realized I DO have a contribution to todays’ post… we got our first snowfall early last night…it’s just a dusting but I had to show it… The cold temps have been…well, COLD. Wind chills have been in the teens… I’ve been staying inside all I can…

I’m taking some Christmas decorations to my mom. She set up her little tree today and asked if I had any of her decorations. It looks like Christmas will be here before we know it!

Have a wonderful, warm, Wednesday!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

I’m glad you were able to use my pictures, Jeanne! Nyla just reminded me, I haven’t taken pictures of HER yet, in the things I’ve made for her (a skirt and blouse, and a nightie), so hopefully those will be done soo.

I certainly enjoyed everyone else’s pictures! Ten Ping’s little slip is just perfect for her! And I do love her kimono, too–good job, Susette! Did you make Katia’s outfit, also? Your Ellowyne is just lovely; I assume you made her dress, too? Playing the piano is fun, but one does need to practice, even if one is Very good (which I’m not–only moderately so)!

Linda, your dolls and vignettes are just wonderful! I’m curious about that “daisy doll” in the background of second picture, next to the clock). It’s really wonderful!

Marilyn and Jeanne, your snow pictures make me jealous! Although we do get Some snow Most winters, it’s usually not more than an inch or two, maybe 3-4″ if we’re lucky, and it never lasts nearly long enough in MY opinion! LOL Probably just as well, though, as the Seattle area has some Very long and Very steep hills, and truly gets “paralyzed” with even a little snow! Heaven help us if it melts a little and then freezes! One year a city bus almost fell onto the freeway from the street above it (about a 25′ drop, I think–in some areas, the freeway was literally dug into the hills)–it was going down a hill, and just kept sliding and sliding….as I recall, one rear corner of the bus did hang over the freeway until they could tow it away. Scary! I guess, from that standpoint, rain is safer.

    1. Hi Charlotte,
Why of course I could use your pictures and it was my pleasure and everyone else’s too!
Your dolls were so fun to see dressed up and to put a face with your name too… Now when I comment back to you, I know exactly who I’m thinking of… I like that.

I was certain you being from WA, would have some great snow stories to share, but I guess not! We’ll probably make it up for you before winter is over. We’ll send you some of our snow if we can!:o)

You can show the pictures to Marika and tell her this is her 15 minutes of fame… from New Zealand to Sweden to California! :o)
      Thanks so much Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

        I’ll do that, Jeanne–thanks!

While eastern Wash. regularly gets “dumped” with snow, we tend to get saturated with rain…. I grew up in Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, so I am very familiar with snowy winters, and still–after 55+ years–miss that! I like my seasons! (I try to get back to Mich. as often as possible–last time was summer 2017. The time before was in 2014, for my 50 year class reunion!)

  2. Oh I just love seeing everyone’s pictures, Jeanne, and am glad that I can contribute too! Charlotte, that diner is just wonderful! It sure brings back memories of the 50″s! There is a similar one in Branson that we go to when we go down. I love all the bright, cheerful red walls, black and white checkerboard tile floors, and nostalgic decorations! You did a perfect job on your doll’s costume, and you and your friend look like you had a wonderful time!

Susette’s dolls are always dressed to the “nines”, and I love that little slip and kimono she made for Ten Ping. Did you make Katia’s dress too? Your little music scene is adorable with Kit and Betsy listening in on Ellowyne’s piano playing. Adorable!

Charlotte, that little daisy doll, is one of a set of little flower people that sit on a shelf. Each face is a different flower, like a rose, a chrysanthemum, tulip, etc. I bought them as a set and change them around frequently. They aren’t anything you dress, just little knick knacks, but I thought they were cute and perk up wherever they are put.

Oh gosh, the snow pictures, well, that picture from Marilyn is just beautiful! It would make a pretty Christmas card scene! Yours made me laugh, Jeanne, because that’s exactly what we had too! But it was pretty when coming down, it just didn’t stick. However, we are scheduled for more tonight, and this time they are saying it WILL stick! It’s only 19 degrees as I write this early in the morning, with a wind chill of 12 or so! I don’t think the ground will stay warm much longer!

    1. Hi Linda,
Carbondale needs a diner like the one Charlotte went to. I think it would be fun to go there with a group of friends. I’m sure they must have a juke box… I’ll have to look at the pictures again.
I’m thinking if we get that snow like they’re saying we might we’ll be able to tell Marilyn about it and not feel like it’s nothing. Of course 4-6″ isn’t anything for the Coloradoians… I’m sure.
I hope it misses us personally… I’m not ready for snow just yet… wait until January when things aren’t so busy. :o)
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Love the photos of everyone’s dolls and the diner looks terrific! Is it a Ruby’s or Corvette Diner?

“The first dusting of snow..”.. sounds beautiful, Jeanne:) It is soup and sweater time.. even here in SoCal.

I was touched by your mom’s request for some of her Christmas ornaments.. that’s what brings back memories of Christmases past for me too! When my daughter first moved out on her own, she took all of her ornaments that we had collected over 20+ years. When I began to decorate MY tree that year, I realized how many memories are included in unwrapping treasured ornaments… I didn’t have them any longer. I needed to “visit her tree” to get the Christmas spirit that year:)?

    1. HI Shara,
I think everyone would like to have lunch at that diner! It’s the neatest looking place!
I didn’t make soup, but I made some cheesy veggies…does that count?

I took her some of her ornaments that I had saved back for her and some table runners and a few trinkets to set around and some berries on a stem, and she didn’t even know they were hers. :o( She called me a little while ago and said her tree was almost decorated and she loved it! That’s all that matters.
Love your story about the ornaments! :o)
      Thanks Shara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    2. When my kids were growing up we gave them each an ornament a year. For years they hung on our tree, but when the kids left home they got to take their ornaments with them. It was a good start for them on their own trees. Believe me our tree was running out of room so it was good to turn them over to them. Now we have continued the tradition by buying our kids and grandkids ornaments every year. When the grandkids grow up and leave home they can take their years of ornaments with them and enjoy the memories.

Shara, it’s called Bop N Burgers. It’s right next door to the bakery–the husband runs the bakery and the wife has the restaurant. They play late 50s/early 60s music all the time, and Marika and I were singing along! Such fun!

I’m glad everyone enjoyed the pictures!

  4. So happy to see Charlotte’s pictures. What a cool diner and the costumes are wonderful! What fun! Linda’s dolls are always so pretty and the details amazing. Love the turkey! Love seeing pictures of other reader’s dolls.

I didn’t make Ellowyne’s dress. She came with it and some other bonus clothes that I can’t tell whether they were handmade or mass produced. No tags in them. Click on the picture of Ellowyne and you’ll be able to see all of her. I’ve ordered some shoes for her, very stylish red ones from eBay. I didn’t make the dress Katia is wearing. She was a gift from one of the wonderful Blog family friends after I identified a Paulinette doll as one I wished I had when you asked the question of us all several years ago. I made a colonial dress for her dolls as a “thank you.” I may send a picture of it for the next time you need some content.

Jealous of the snow. We could at least use some rain here in Southern California but not flooding with all the barren land after the fires. Can’t believe the destruction and keep thinking of the people affected by fires and hoping they are contained soon.

    1. HI Susette,
I think we all enjoyed Charlotte’s pictures and would love to visit that diner… I know I would. AND we always love Linda’s pictures of her dolls around her house in their various vignettes.
I remember when you got Ellowyne and were thrilled that the seller sent along some things for her. That was fun! Shoes will be perfect!! :o) She needs a blue pair too! :o)

I hope you and Joy get some rain to put out all the fires… I can’t imagine living in the middle of all that… It’s on the news all the time… I feel so much for the people right in the middle of it all.
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Well, well, well, a little nippy weather just about everywhere eh? Only 59 inside this morning here in northern CA. Definitely frosty outside and it looks like another red sun day. Camp Fire up north is at 35% contained this morning, so that is good news. Unfortunately, they are still have many missing. We’re hoping the smoke subsides by Friday. I would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts in this California nightmare. They are appreciated.
All of the photos were so fun to view. Thank you everyone and Jeanne.
My mother in law would have loved that diner, Charlotte. Saw the Coca-Cola Ave. sign and the glass coke bottle on the table. She collected Coke so we have lots of items. Hoping that the Corvette was a replica as it would bring me to tears if one had actually been cut apart. Love Corvettes. Sweet costumes on the girls too.
Susette, your slip turned out wonderful and the kimono too. The little scene for Ten Ping is adorable and your Ellowyne is beautiful.
Linda’s scenes always amaze me. Everyone is so well dressed. Love the special girl carrying the turkey. Hope they don’t plan to carve that one. And the scene with little Betsy McCall is so sweet. Love how she is trying to pet the pet turkey. 🙂
What a Christmas card view in Boulder, Marilyn. Makes me yearn for snow in the Sierra of which there isn’t any at the moment. Heard we may get slight sprinkles for Thanksgiving which equates to snow in the mountains. That would be wonderful.
And Jeanne, the dusting of snow on the gazebo is so peaceful. What a lovely photo.
Looking forward to the next fashion creation. Wonder who will benefit?

    1. HI Joy,
35% contained doesn’t sound like much at all… I guess it is, but there is still a long way to go.

I was thinking the exact same thing… had someone really cut that corvette in half of is a replica of some kind made in the shape of a Vette? Let’s hope it’s not real…

Did you receive your Giggi yet? Wondering if you have…
I haven’t had a moment to look at more fabrics for the next girl yet… too busy boxing up Navi shoes from my Etsy shop. I think I’ve sold 10 pair of shoes and 3 pair of panties! Every time I check it seems someone else has bought something…only $30 more dollars and Navi will be paid for!
      Thanks Joy…stay safe!
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. So happy you have things in the store. I think the basics would sell too. Like long and short sleeved tee shirts. Little simple jumpers. Socks and tights or thigh highs too. Not that you need more work, but some of those basics would go with shorts or jeans and make simple cute outfits that would not break the budget after paying so much for the dollies.
And yes, Giggi has arrived. She’s been hanging out with Romy and Navi trying to stay entertained indoors. Can’t go out with all of the smoke. I bought her another wig as I’m not so fond of the one in which she arrived. It’s a little too fru fru for her. She is a lot like Romy in personality. Have to keep an eye on them both. 🙂

  6. What a fun post today with all the various contributions.
Looks like you had a fabulous time, Charlotte! Diners are so much fun. We happen to have two in my town. The one in the heart of town has been in here since 1932, but the other is only 20 years old made to look old. Our old restaurant has been in continuous operation since 1864! Civil War- pretty neat, huh?
Aww, Susette, your Paulinette doll has a darling face and an adorable outfit.
I see Linda has been hard at work getting her girls ready for Thanksgiving. Everyone looks lovely in their finery.
The snow is very pretty and peaceful looking. Personally, I don’t mind snow and cold in moderation, but I love warm weather. We didn’t really get an Indian Summer this year.
Tomorrow will be a good day to be inside as we are expecting ice and a bit of snow. Tonight I’m hoping to see the first episode of the latest season of Poldark and admire the costumes and the Cornwall countryside with Felicity and my furbabies.

    1. HI Laura,
We don’t have anything like Charlotte’s diner in our area or anywhere even close to us, so I was really amused by it. I think everyone else was too!
Wow…that IS neat about your old restaurant being in business since 1864! Knowing you, I bet you patronize it as often as you can! How wonderful it must feel to be eating in there.

The slick roads are already here for us… Rebecca just got home from working at the hospital and she said the roads were pretty slick. She had to use her 4 wheel drive on her Blazer. I’m planning on staying in if I possibly can. I’m hoping my mailman will come into my driveway to pick up my Ellowyne doll that ends this evening.

Have a wonderful evening and enjoy the warmth of your home.
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Dear Jeanne, thanks for sharing photos from the blog family. I love to see the folks and their dolls. I promise to send photos of my Boneka dolls. I just have to take them!

We are supposed to get snow here in Central PA tomorrow. I made a quick run to Giant to stock up on things. I earned enough points to get a turkey but since I don’t eat meat, I was able to get a Stouffer’s Lasagna instead. Yummm!

We will be halfway through November tomorrow. How did that happen?

I am hoping for dolly fun tomorrow.

    1. HI Dorothy,
I’m so glad you enjoyed today’s photos. It’s fun to visit all over the country by visiting me, isn’t it? :o)
I think just about everyone is expecting snow tomorrow.. I only hope that CA could get some to put out the fires!
You’re a vegetarian, are you? Well, I just learned something new about you, Dorothy! I’m right there with you on the Stouffer’s Lasagna! Yummy is right!

It can’t be so…November is half over…what has happened to this year…it’s vanishing before my eyes!
I hope you do have some dolly fun tomorrow… I plan to!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Wonderful pictures! I totally enjoyed them. And the snow pictures… Well I live vicariously on that one. North Houston got some snow flurries the other day, but we just got rain where we are. I need to do better about taking pictures of my dolly children when they get new clothes. Several of them have new wearing apparel and I’ve got another outfit nearly finished, but I always forget to take pictures.
