Happy Thanksgiving from my house to yours!

I have much to be thankful for this year and my list would be never ending if I really wrote everything in my heart… but at the very top of my list is how thankful I am to the Lord for taking care of my hubby this year. The year started out very scary for us and by the wonderful and faithful mercy of the Lord, He took very good care of us… my hubby especially. The absolute miraculous gift of a clear CT Scan after my hubby’s bladder and prostrate and 36 lymph nodes were removed, was the best news of the year. I will never forget that doctor’s visit!

The Lord took very good care of us with all our finances when my hubby wasn’t able to work and blessed us with wonderful gifts from friends and family so we never missed paying a bill or being late for any payments.

I have the kindest family and they are so high on my thankful list. My hubby is my best friend and I’m pretty sure I am his too. Our kids are a blessing to us and we thank the Lord for the gift of them. I am so grateful to be their mom and wife.

My momma and my sisters and brother are some of the sweetest people in the world. I could literally write a book about them and the bond we have with each other. It’s pretty rare I think and I wouldn’t trade them for anything! I was truly blessed with such a great family and I’m SO thankful for them.

I think I’ve used “wonderful” too many times, but it’s about the only word that describes so many of the things in my life.

I am thankful for our friends who were there for us (and still are) when things were rough and rocky! They were the best and we couldn’t have asked for more kind people.

I am thankful for my new kitchen and everything that I’ve managed to do in it so far, and thankful that I’ll get it done one of these days.

I’m thankful for the privilege of being able to stay at home and work doing something I love and help contribute to my family.

Writing this blog has been a highlight of my life. I’ve written posts for over 4 years and have met SO many wonderful readers ( mostly ladies) who have now become dear friends. I can’t imagine not chatting with you on a regular basis! How terrible that would be. I can’t imagine not sewing doll clothes for your dolls either. I hope I sew till I die! :o)

Wednesday I was blessed with Alba and Sarah (our dear friends from Colombia, South America) who came to my house to help me work on things for the 2 Thanksgiving dinners we’ll be hosting. Alba said she wanted to learn how to cook the way I did. I snapped this picture of her putting cookies on a baking sheet. :o) what a joy it will be to have shared 4 Thanksgivings with them.

When I took that picture, I instantly thought of another picture of Alba’s hands…If you remember last year, Alba was helping with making some cupcakes at Valentine’s Day (for the 1st time ever) and I showed this picture. Several people commented on her pretty hands… :o)

So, as you can see…my Thankful List is pretty simple… Faith, Family and Friends, and maybe after today (Food!)
I hope you are having a wonderful (there’s that word again!) Thanksgiving Day!

Thanks everyone, for being in the friends category!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

You have, indeed, much to be thankful for this year, in particular, the results of that last scan!! I know it was a frightening and uncertain time for all of you, when he had to have that surgery. I am thankful, too, that he came thru the surgery, and that God provided, thru friends, just the things you needed at the time you needed them. God is so good!

I, too, have many things for which to be thankful, including being part of your blog subscribers. I feel like I know you, and some of your subscribers, also!

A blessed Thanksgiving to you all!

    1. HI Charlotte,
Yes, my readers are the absolute best and so kind to each other. It’s like a little family…or maybe I should say, A Big Family! I think we are ALL blessed to know each other.
Thank you Charlotte and a very Happy Thanksgiving to you!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. What a beautiful post Jeanne! You certainly do have a lot to be thankful for, and the best part is that you recognize and appreciate those gifts.

I am so glad to have had the opportunity to actually meet you and some of your family earlier this year, and I could tell immediately the love you all have for each other. Nothing can take that away from you no matter what happens in life, and I cannot think of a more deserving person.

Oh yes, Alba’s hands are beautiful! I remember commenting on that and I see that she still has such beautiful hands. She cold easily be a hand model for ads and commercials!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone, and thank you Jeanne, for your wonderful blog that you take the time to write no matter what life throws at you! You will never know how much you mean to so many of us!

    1. Thank you, Linda, for being such a dear friend to me and my family. I’m so glad you are a part of my everyday life…you are always so positive and kind to me and everyone who comments. You must be the best momma and grandma!
A very Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, and to all of us, your readers!

Linda is right, as she so often is, that the best thing is that you recognize and appreciate your gifts. That helps the rest of us think about and appreciate ours. I was recently in my favorite fabric store and saw my favorite fabric store owner, who had cancer and chemo just before I did. I reminded her that when I saw her at one of her store parties, I said, “Here we are, with our short hair,” and she said, “But we *are* here,” which was a nice reminder to be grateful for large gifts. I told her about another experience I had had, making cakes for a friend’s wedding. I had been told I’d have access to a large church kitchen with lots of tables and refrigerators and electrical outlets, but the bride’s silly sisters wouldn’t let me in the kitchen. My friends had run back and forth, getting and taking things, rinsing spoons and bowls. Later I said, “Grrr.” One of my friends said, “But we got through it.” A much better way to think — we got through it. You got through a lot this year, Jeanne, and most of the rest of us have too. I’m thankful for all of the things all of us managed to get through and accomplish.

When I saw the first picture of Alba’s hands, I thought, “What pretty hands she has,” and quickly found out I wasn’t the only one noticing that.

And now, back to work. Take care and have a lovely day.

    1. HI Marilyn,
You always share the best stories, and analogies as sometimes parables. Gratefulness is a wonderful trait to have flow out of you.
Jean and Bithar and ther kids just left our house and I loaded up the leftovers in a couple of bags and trays for them. They were TRULY grateful and I was TRULY blessed. It’s easy to be grateful when you don’t have much and it’s easy to be blessed when you have much but give it TO someone who has little.
I’m so blessed to have you as one of my friends, Marilyn…I hope you stay for a long time!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Beautiful post Jeanne ?
I’m thankful to be here, for my husband and children and all my family and friends. You all make my life worth living.
I thank God every day for having the dexterity in my hands to do very fine sewing and embroidery.. this allows me to fill my passion for fashion designing. I knew when I was 8 years old that was what I want to be… and 7 decades later.. He is still making it possible.
    Happy Thanksgiving to all!

    1. HI Shara,
I think I know how you feel about being grateful to get to do what you love to do…sew and create. I’m so blessed that the Lord has allowed me to sew all my life too…and it’s especially fun to sew and reap!!!
      Happy Thanksgiving, Shara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Aw, a very heartfelt post Jeanne. Have an extreme Thanksgiving sharing with your family and friends. And I hope all of your readers too are able to enjoy the day in their own way. We are very happy that the rain dance worked. Raindrops on the roof were magic to hear last night. Onward to the shopping frenzy and the allure of the sparkling lights. 🙂

    1. HI Joy,
I bet there were a lot of grateful Californian”s who were grateful for rain last night…hope you get some more!!!
I have another Thanksgiving dinner with Alba, Edgar and Sarah and our kids tomorrow night…after that, I might be ready to retire from Thanksgiving…at least till next year. :o)

I hope you had a great feast with your family today!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Dear Jeanne and blog family, I wish you all a wonderful (Jeanne’s word), peaceful, and life-affirming Thanksgiving.
Here’s to another year sitting on Jeanne’s sofa. That’s something for which we can all give thanks. Now, who wants more tea?

    1. HI Dorothy,
Yes, here’s to sitting on that couch, drinking tea and waiting for the next post. Thanks for always being so sweet to me and my family!!
I’m thankful you are a part of my little family,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Wishing all a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving! I loved reading your post today, the first I have been able to read in 10 days. You are always so thankful and uplifting. We are bringing my almost 90 year old Mom home from the hospital today after 10 long days. I thank the Lord for putting his healing hand on her and for all of our family. It truly is a day to be thankful for.
    Leigh

    1. HI Leigh,
I hope you have/had an extra special Thanksgiving with your mom there with you.
Family is a wonderful gift, isn’t it.
I hope you had a blessed time with yours!
I’m glad you find inspiration from my posts…what an encouragement that is.
      Thank you, Leigh,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Happy thanksgiving Jeanne. We are sitting here in a turkey coma! Everything was so good, and like you, I have so much to be thankful for. I was noticing what lovely hands your friend has right before I read your comment about it. We will have our second thanksgiving tomorrow at my mom’s house. She still wants to host holidays, but I end up fixing most of the dishes and taking them to her house. It is double work for me , but I don’t mind.

    1. HI Carolyn,
We are practically in a coma around here too! I’ve already been on the couch, so groggy, I could hardly stand it.
Tomorrow evening we are doing Thanksgiving dinner #2 with our kids and friends from Colombia. I already have a nice headstand on the dinner and it’s not until 5:00 tomorrow night, so I don’t have to get up at the cracks of dawn for this one.
I hope you have fun at yours tomorrow!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. So enjoyed your post and I join you in thanking God for blessing you and George with His healing mercies!!!!!!! What would I do without the two of you. My cup overflows. Don’t forget, I plan to come paint whenever those kitchen renovations start again! Love you both and thanks for being such a wonderful blessing to me.

    1. Awwww Gloria,
So sweet of you to chime in. I was wondering where you had Thanksgiving? At your new house? Penny and Bill were house sitting at Tim and Dee”s house. Rick and Claudine are hosting his family there tomorrow.
We had a nice dinner with ourfriends from Haiti and my mom and tomorrow night it will be our friends from Colombia, SA and our kids.
Thanks for being such a blessing to us!!!
      Love you Gloria!
      ~ Jeanne

  11. Having come late to your blog I was unaware of the challenges that had faced you regarding your hubby’s health. What a blessing to prayerfully have all that behind you. You are truly blessed by having such a wonderful (can’t think of a better term myself) family and host of friends. You are correct in the idea that such closeness in a family is not common. When my grandparents (my mother’s parents) were alive our family was much like yours. But as the generations passed away – my grandparents and aunts and uncles are now all with the angels – my generation lost that closeness and some seem to actually resent the intrusion of family. We keep in touch but “getting together” seems to get in the way of their plans. I’m just thankful they haven’t unfriended me on Facebook. lol It’s not really all that gloomy. I would like more, but accept what is and am thankful for that. One thing – among many, many things – I’m thankful for is receiving your blog. Seeing your posts and comments from the other members tells me I’m not the only one who finds joy and satisfaction from tending to the needs of my dolly children. And hopefully this will be something my granddaughter and I can share also. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Ours was at the home of our youngest son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. Our oldest son dropped by for dinner but had to leave soon after. Food was good and company great.
