REMINDER: Patsy Tonner’s “Christmas Cheer” dress is ending this evening (Thursday) on Ebay. You can see it by clicking on the picture at the right side bar, or you can click HERE. It’s sure to make your Patsy smile and you might find yourself doing the Happy Dolly Dance. :o)
I found myself busy with momma things and driving my hubby to pick up his truck at the shop, trying to figure out a date for the Married Couple’s Christmas party, trying to track down information on a lost package for one of my customers, and one more thing that I MIGHT show you tomorrow… My day was booked until 8:00 this evening. That’s why I didn’t get Rebecca’s dress finished and listed on Ebay. My hopes are for Thursday evening, but no promises.
“My” Rebecca came home from house sitting and bless her heart, I asked her about making a necklace for Rebecca’s dress. She came in my sewing room, looked at the dress on Rebecca and asked if I had a scrap of the fabric… I did. She vanished off to her room and I was secretly hoping she’d be able to find the perfect beads in the perfect color and even make it tonight… AND SHE DID. This necklace is WONDERFUL and goes absolutely perfectly with this dress. She said the big beads across the front are called Cathedral beads… FYI! :o) I just love it and think you will too…
I looked at Rebecca’s dress trying to figure out what to make to finish it…
That necklace spurred me on to make the cape Linda suggested a few days ago. I thought a white one in a soft and drapey faux fur would be nice. I had a piece that worked well and has the feel of one of those chinchilla furs at Joann’s.
It’s very soft and drapes great over her shoulders. I lined it with tulle so all the edges are enclosed but it still hangs nicely without any bulk.
I added a pretty white enamel button with a little bit of silver and then used an elastic loop on the other side. It’s very easy to put on.
Rebecca even looks pretty just carrying it! :o)
As I said, I’m hoping to get it all finished and ready for Ebay…I have one more thing cut out and hopefully can make it into my sewing room to finish it…
Hope to see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
That necklace is absolutely Perfect for her!! And then I scrolled down and saw the cape. Again, Perfect! She looks ready to go to the opera!!
Thank you Charlotte,
I’m glad I surprised you with the cape. Rebecca is loving it and if she went outside here today, she would definitely need it!!
Thanks Charlotte,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, Jeanne, the whole outfit is just beautiful!! Yes, like Charlotte says, she is ready to go to the opera, but wait, she needs a reticule for her hankie and a few coins!
Rebecca is just so talented in making the most beautiful necklaces for the creations you make. I love the look of sparkling pearls and emeralds, (*we can dream, can’t we?)
And the cape! That is just what I envisioned for the dress, and I’m so glad you were able to make it! How elegant she looks! I love the way it flows and how it cascades down from her shoulders so gracefully. In this weather, she certainly does need a cape to keep her warm! This is going to be a hard one for Rebecca to give up!
HI Linda,
Thank you so much for your kind compliments. I don’t think I’ve ever had a doll go to the opera…hmmm…
A reticule? Well, one just might be in the works… :o)
Yes, I LOVE Rebecca”s style of jewelry too…she is very talented!
I think I’m going to alter my pattern and make it a little longer on the sides and maybe scoop
it down in the back a little bit…
Yes, Rebecca is liking this one very much!
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
I agree with Linda on the reticule, and I still think pantalettes are in order as a finishing touch. The necklace is lovely, the cape looks like soft snow. I really like that pin — you do find wonderful things. If Rebecca has a couple more of those pearls, how do you feel about one on each sleeve, by the bows?
What shoes will you show with this outfit? It appears to have gone together very smoothly. This is not going to be one of those years when you feel bad because you haven’t done a Christmas dress — you’ve already done two. Remember the three for the LDs? That was a good year. The more people happy for Christmas the better. The more happy dolls there are in the world, the better. You are doing your part!
HI Marilyn,
I’m working on a reticule…maybe with a “twist!” Maybe I’ll get to those pantalettes too!
Yes, maybe a bit of blind on the sleeves…Rebecca is at work, but I could probably snoop in her beads and find them.
I AM doing better on my Christmas dresses than in years past. I guess I really need to start on Christmas dresses in July to make a nice showing!
I DO remember those three Little Darling dresses…Christmas Hope, Christmas Joy, and Christmas Peace.
I AM trying to do my part!
Thanks Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh this just keeps getting better and better! I LOVE the necklace. Your daughter does beautiful work. So creative! And what a wonderful collaboration between you two. The cape is so sweet. I grew up in Pennsylvania so it was cool in the evenings in May when I went to prom. My mother bought me a “bunny fur” cape to wear. It looked a lot like Rebecca’s cape. I had it for the years I went to prom and then my sister wore it to hers. It was so perfect. Not too heavy but kept the evening chill at bay. I know it is much appreciated by Rebecca while on her way to see the “Nutcracker”.
Oh my goodness, someone else from Pennsylvania! How wonderful. Where?
I lived in the Coal Regions town of Pottsville until I was five when my dad moved us to Bethlehem to work for The Steel. In some ways I wish I still lived there. I love the area and miss the changes in season. And I especially miss the Christmas season in Bethlehem. One summer we were traveling and went through Bethlehem in late summer. The high for the day was 79. Here is was 99. What’s not to miss. I’ve been in Texas now since 1969. I was only supposed to be here for two to three years. I met my husband here and life went on – here. He’s from Colorado so he wants to move too but our grandkids are here now and that makes moving a whole lot harder.
Barbara, hello. I am in south Central PA. That’s not so far away from Pottsville.
You and Joy will have to come this way at some time! She has relatives in this area.
Our old license plate slogan was “You’ve Got A Friend in PA.” You surely do!
I would love to get back to PA. And I would certainly love to visit you. My mother’s people were from Bloomsburg and the area around.
HI Barbara,
Your first comment made me smile from ear to ear! I’m glad you like it!
Oh, I know exactly what you mean by “bunny fur” so I can imagine how wonderful your cape must have felt.
…so now Rebecca is going to see the Nutcracker! I’m going to have to decide!!!
Thank you for your sweet comments, Barbara,
Blessings, Jeanne
I think her lovely ensemble would be good for both the opera and the “Nutcracker” so maybe she’ll have time to do both during the holiday season.
Quick response from me. Want to get off of the computer because we’re having very unusual thunder/lightning. But, the dress is wonderful, the necklace, superb, and the white fur cape the perfect addition. 🙂
Thanks Joy,
I hope your bad weather has passed by now. Thank you for taking time to let me know you liked Rebecca’s new additions!
Blessings, Jeanne
This regency and the necklace are beautiful! The whole ensemble is perfect!
Thank you very much, Marla! I’m glad you like it!
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, your Rebecca is so talented! I love the necklace.
The doll Rebecca is beautiful in her dress. I bet Jane Austen is going to be calling you (well writing you) so you can make her some dresses (smile).
HI Dorothy,
I know there are lots of Jane Austen lovers out there, so I usually try to put her name in the listing title.
Janes dresses do inspire me…such pretty styles to look at.
Thanks for complimenting Rebecca”s necklace. She comes up with the prettiest designs!
Blessings, Jeanne
