You won’t believe me, but I managed to get Kirsten’s dress set listed on Ebay AND I answered your comments about her set!! In fact, the visits to my blog when I showed Kirsten’s dress, were over the top… I’m writing this at 9:45 Wednesday evening and I just passed the 400 mark for visitors to my blog! Woohoo! Thanks everyone. Of course, we didn’t eat dinner until almost 8:00 as my hubby knew I wanted to get Kirsten’s dress listed… What a guy! :o)
Okay…I guess you’ve seen Kirsten’s dress by now…but if not, you can see the listing on Ebay by clicking on the picture at the right side bar or you can click HERE. The last time I made a dress for Felicity, I took a few outside pictures and you all liked them. The sun was setting pretty quickly as I was out snapping a few pictures of Kirsten and I hope you like them. They aren’t great but it’s nice to see some natural settings around her.
I wasn’t the only one taking pictures of their girls… I have some pictures to show you from a few ladies who read and participate in my blog on a regular basis.
First up are some pictures from Linda… our “queen of accessorizing” her dolls and having as many props and anyone I know… See if you can spot Felicity…she’s in a Mermaid costume, one of American Girl’s oldest costumes.
Aren’t they cute? Linda gets a gold star from me for getting ALL her girls dressed this time! Way to go Linda!
Next Kathie sent me some pictures of her Little Darlings dressed in their Fall attire! Look how adorable these girls are!
Oops…that was a BOY, wasn’t it? How did “he” get in there?
It looks like each kid has their own pumpkin… Very cute, Kathie! Thanks for sharing!
Last up is Susette… her pictures aren’t about dolls, but about decorating and getting the right costumes for her grands! I think these big “heads” are what’s new and popular this year. The other day I was in Walmart and this young college kid was trying to find the right head to try on. He and his friend were laughing and carrying on. Just as I was about to walk past him he was about to put it on…and he stepped in my way… when the person with him said to look out! He was totally embarrassed… but I bet Riya and Krish won’t be… grandma will be a big hit… again! Great going Susette!
I’m not sure if these are their actual names or if Susette was just calling them this, but she called them Triceratops and Unicorn. It’s kind of hard to imagine how big they are, but the ones in our store were about the size of a milk crate…if you know what size that is…
Susette might be our “queen of decorating her patio” and other spaces at her house in California! She’s got plenty to decorate with.
Well, that’s going to be it for me… Hope you enjoyed the pictures today!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a neat post, with all these pictures to look at!!
First of all, I love that first picture of Kirsten–the light is so soft and nice, really makes her look especially pretty, I think.
Linda, your girls are all ready for trick-or-treating! I had forgotten about that mermaid costume, but as soon as I saw it, I remembered it. I have Molly’s grass skirt and lei, too, I think, although she hasn’t worn it in ages (don’t feel too badly–she does have other costumes, too!). I’ve gotten masks for some of my girls, too, and have made masks for others–one of my AG patterns (Simplicity?) had a costume that came with a mask pattern.
Kathie, your LDs are beautiful, and I love their fall outfits! Who is the little girl on the right, the one with the bunch of leaves in her hand? Is she a Boneka, per chance?
Susette, your grands are going to have such fun with those costumes! And your patio decorations are wonderful! I especially love the two dolls sitting on your adirondack chair.
I don’t have my girls in costumes yet, but will have to soon. One of them and I will be meeting a girlfriend and her doll (also in costume) for lunch on Halloween! We have established an annual tradition. This year we’ll go to a 50s style diner in downtown Edmonds, WA.
Meant to say, our Dolls will be in costume; my girlfriend and I won’t be! LOL
HI Charlotte,
I’m SO glad you cleared that up about YOU not being in costume…just your dolls. That made me laugh. I was wondering what you were going to dress up as!
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the dolls and Susette’s all decorated and dressed up. For me it’s fun to see what everyone else is up to! I see Kathie answered you about the last doll in her group…it’s Pipi Longstocking and isn’t she a cutie?
I hope you have fun at your luncheon with your friend and all the dolls who will be going. Maybe you can take a selfie of you and your friend and the dolls in the 50’s diner… I know we’d love to see that. Or if you can’t do a selfie, get your waitress to take a picture?
Thanks Charlotte,
Blessings, Jeanne
I’ll try, Jeanne–thanks!
How nice you have a friend who shares your love of dolls and is willing to participate in an outing with you. Most of my family and friends can’t understand why I would spend my time and money on something like dolls. Fortunately my husband is more accepting and actually picked out my H4H Lilian when she was on e-bay.
Hi Charlotte,
The one on the right is Pipi Longstocking..a Helen Kish doll. She has the cutest expression. My friend gave her to me when I asked her to join our new Doll Club. How sweet is that?
HI Kathie,
I’d say that’s a pretty nice friend! Congrats to you for being the recipient and to your friend for knowing her doll was going to a sweet home!
Blessings, Jeanne
Thanks, Kathie! She’s darling. I do like the story of Pippi Longstocking, and one of my Good-Kruger dolls has a 3-4″ fabric Pippi as her own dolly!
HI Barbara,
I’m sure a lot of my friends think I’m loony too as I sew for the dolls and sometimes when the conversation comes up, I get some strange looks… Oh well, it’s what I love to do! Congrats to your hubby for picking out Lillian for you!
Thanks Barbara,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi, Jeanne,
That’s why we need groups like this.
Barbara, I once had a friend, Daria….and she was the one I most “played dolls” with. One time we set up about 28 dolls all around a little fountain to form a “Fourth of July Parade”, and took pictures!! Such fun we had……
Daria died in 2007 of a massive heart attack, at the age of 60. Far too young. I miss her still….
First, Kirsten’s dress fabric is so beautiful and the vintage hankie apron is over the top. So pretty Jeanne. I did bid on your recent Felicity dress, but did not win it. That will not stop me from trying! Thank you for sharing the lovely pictures and how other ladies are enjoying their dolls; I loved them all. When I first purchased an American Doll for myself about six years ago, I thought, I would look for and buy an outfit for each month of the year. Ha ha…. this is truly a magnificent obsession because I am so so far beyond that and having difficulty stopping. It is a so fun hobby but I tell myself that since God has abundantly blessed me with 10 beautiful grandchildren, my money would be better spent dressing them. I may be a late bloomer, but I do love my dolls. ]
Thank you Laureen,
I’m so glad to hear your thoughts on Kirsten’s dress set. I really had fun pulling this one together and it just seemed like it was so easy with the blue and peachy/rose colors. I really like how it looks on Kirsten too.
I’m glad you love your dolls enough to want to buy them new outfits… just like your grands…everyone deserves something new every once in a while.
I’m in the late bloomer group too… I really didn’t discover my love for making doll clothes until about 1998 when I was sewing and selling my doll outfits at our local Farmer’s market. I’m so blessed to get to stay at home and sew for them… What a neat job!
Blessings, Jeanne
Loved seeing all the pictures of Halloween dressed up dolls and Suzette’s costumes for her grandchildren. What fun. Such neat outfits and set ups. Linda, Kathleen and Suzette did a wonderful job in creating their scenes and I appreciate them sharing their photos.
Jeanne, Kirsten’s dress is just beautiful. The material colors and the hankie apron and cap are perfect!
HI Paula,
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the dolls and set up from Linda, Kathie and Susette. I know they have to enjoy the comments from everyone. Thanks for yours!
Thank you too, for your kind compliments on Kirsten’s dress set. This was a fun one to make… I think everything turned out just as I had hoped it would… from the fabric to the photos! :o)
Thanks Paula,
Blessings, Jeanne
Love the picture of Kirsten getting the last rays of the sun. Know you will have tons of bids forthcoming.
And what wonderful holiday photos from Linda. Love the table and tiny decor, so perfect.
The photos from Kathie of her kids are too cute. What a beautiful quilt too.
Susette’s grands will shine in the Halloween parade. The outdoor display is so fun. Especially the houses and that deck chair fully ready for fall and the holiday. How do you keep your houses so pristine and bug free? I found a spider in residence in our mail box yesterday. Bad.
So Jeanne, have you put up any fall decorations? Ours include a tiny string of pumpkin LED lights thrown into a bowl and a fall theme stuffed pup all sitting with other assorted unrelated items. Didn’t even put up our Dept 56 haunted house this year. Oh well, on to Thanksgiving.
HI Joy,
Well, I hope you are right with your forecast of tons of bids… that would be nice, because I still have to get Navi paid for and I just saw a little Ella offered from Marsha today and I had to walk away… :o( I was so sad! To have a Dumpling size in my hand would be wonderful…
I think everyone is enjoying seeing the dolls and patio dressed up today… It’s so much fun to see what others do with their dolls.
Decorations? Me? I haven’t done anything yet… We’ve been taking care of some papers for my mom regarding her Homestead Exemption on her property. We had to actually go and get some help at the Assessments office yesterday as it was too complicated for us to figure out.
I did tell my hubby I wanted to put up the Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving so I could enjoy it longer… I don’t know if I’ll make that or not, but I’d like to try.
We are going to Louisville for 2 days and I’ve been trying to play catch up to be able to go. Just a getaway… I wonder if there are any fabric or doll shops in Louisville? hmmm…
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
I have patterns for costumes for some of my dolls, but haven’t made up any of them yet. I have a Build-a-Bear Bunny and an 8″ Bunny BAB was selling with a Mother’s Day outfit one year. She fits the Smallfry and Buddy clothes. They both have several Halloween costumes. They wear one of them each day before Halloween with their favorite on Halloween itself.
I love the outdoor pictures of Kirsten. Speaking of outdoors, maybe I’ll try and take some pictures of my outdoor decorations. It will depend on the lighting. I have several (an understatement) blow-ups and a couple other things. They light up, but my house has a streetlight in front and, while I can minimize the lighting of my yard light, I haven’t found a way to minimize the streetlight. If they turn out well, I’ll send some.
I’m really impressed with people who get their dollies dressed up for holidays. I managed Easter one year and the girls all looked so lovely and spring like, but I haven’t managed Christmas yet. So much going on at that time that sewing Christmas dresses for the girls seems to take a backseat. As for sewing for grandchildren, I have one granddaughter and tried sewing for her. I love sewing for little girls, but her mother doesn’t like ironing and the dresses I make need pressing, so when they weren’t worn, I decided to move my creativity into other areas.
I love Linda’s table and chair set and all her dolls look so festive. Kathie’s LDs look so sweet and Fall like. Susette’s patio is wonderful. Those big heads so popular this year are cute, but sometimes here in Texas it can be warm on Halloween and they would be hot. They’re selling them here in spite of that. One year when my daughter was about four I made her a Funshine Care Bear outfit. I was raised in Pennsylvania and it was always nippy on Halloween so costumes like bunnies, etc., were great. Here not so much. It was so hot on Halloween that year she walked around all evening carrying her head under her arm. Hilarious!
HI Barbara,
I’ve seen some pictures from ladies who have ALL their dolls dressed up and I can’t imagine getting them all ready… Some of them are very cute. We used to just pull things together when I was younger… you know, a hobo, a clown, a princess… etc.
Yes, if you have pictures, send them… we can all oooo and aaaahhhh over them!
I’m so glad you enjoyed today’s pictures… it’s fun to see what others do with their dolls and decorating. There are some very talented ladies on here…
Thanks for your comments, Barbara,
Blessings, Jeanne
I had no idea 400 people had access to your Blog. Congratulations! Dawn and late afternoon are the best times to take pictures outdoors of your lovely dolls. Means getting up very early when on a photo tour and resting during the bright sun of midday, then late afternoon and night shots.
Love the pictures of Linda and Kathie’s dolls and the wonderful accessories. Love the Little Darling who’s smiling. I do every time I see one of her. So glad you shared them with all of us. I had the same experience you did, Jeanne, with a young adult who was trying on the Unicorn head at Walgreens. She was somewhat embarrassed but assured me she wasn’t going to buy it so I could. The costumes are for my grandchildren’s collections as they are gong to be Batman and Harley Quinn this year.
The Adirondack chair is American Girl. Most of the accessories, characters and flowers are from Dollar Tree. A little more gets added each year but I’d better stop now. Don’t be “tricked,” Joy, my house is not pristine but no bugs allowed. Laureen, I’m right there with you on the collection bug. I had only one doll from my childhood before my granddaughter got one for her birthday several years ago.
My grandson is a SWAT team member and my granddaughter is Uma from Descendants 2 for Halloween. They used to live next door but moved further toward Houston a couple years ago. I miss having them next door. On Halloween they used to come over for their trick or treat. Even though I see them every Sunday at church, I miss the day-to-day and seeing them in their Halloween costumes. I get pictures but it’s not the same. They usually have plans on Halloween so dropping in is not an option.
I really need to check out Dollar Tree. Never thought of that. I checked on the AG website for some items I saw here on the blog but evidently things are retired after awhile and they weren’t available anymore.
HI Barbara,
I’m sorry your grandkids aren’t your neighbors any more. It must be hard to not see them as often as you’d like. Susette’s grands live clear across the county in VA or West VA and she keeps in touch with pictures and I’m sure phone calls.
Blessings, Jeanne
HI Susette,
I just was blessed with 2 more subscribers today! I’m not sure what is going on, except that I joined the My Meadow Fan Club…but I haven’t had any time to match up any names on their members list to see if that’s where they are coming from… maybe it’s just word of mouth. I don’t care.. I just hope they enjoy it here.
I’m sure Riya and Krish will have lots of fun with those heads… even after Halloween is over.
I think you might shop for props as much as I do, Susette… Dollar Tree is a great place… you just have to keep your mind open to what ever it is you see and how it could be used for a doll. I do it ALL the time!
Thanks for chiming in, Susette, and thanks for your pics!
Blessings, Jeanne
Kirsten looked especially sweet outside…she fit right into the background.
Loved all the Halloween Pictures! Linda’s Halloween costumes are so cute! AG does a great job on them…do they do one every year? Susette’s patio makes me green with envy…the only thing still blooming here are mums…a bit heartier than most . The Little Darling that is smiling is my favorite too. Too bad I didn’t have her wig on straight..she will be so embarrassed!
HI Kathie,
As far as your little girl who is smiling, having a crooked wig on…. I just thought it was a “bad haircut” which I’ve had a few of in my lifetime! My mom used to cut our bangs way up high like that… not sure why!!! She doesn’t look too embarrassed to me.. .in fact she looks very happy!
Thanks again for sharing Kathie,
Blessings, Jeanne
So many fun things to enjoy today! Kirsten’s dress set is just adorable, Jeanne. Wow, all those visits to your blog just proves she’s still a very loved doll. Kirsten was actually the one who started the PC love here. My daughter received hers for her sixth birthday. you really need to give her more attention *smiles*
Oh my, Linda, your girls are always so well dressed and accessorized. What wonderful costumes and props you have. I love Felicity as a mermaid. I do recall seeing that in the catalog, but it was all about the historical items back then ( I guess it still is).
Kathie, your dolls look wonderful in their fall outfits with the scarecrow and pumpkins. I love the dress on your Meadow doll. That display is perfect through Thanksgiving.
What fun costumes your grandkids are going to have, Susette. Your fairy garden decorations are just lovely.
HI Laura,
I do believe a lot of ladies and young girls love their Kirstens… She is just such a pretty doll and her clothes from AG were always fun to look at! I DO need to give her more attention… and I’ll work on that! I love mixing and matching fabrics for her outfits.
I think everyone really enjoyed looking at the pictures today and probably a lot of them were zoomed in on to look at up close.. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one! :o)
Thanks for your compliments to everyone Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
I am late, but we are finally home from our little trek to Branson for the last few days. We had a wonderful time, but it’s always nice to get back homeansleep in my own bed!
Oh, my, but Kirsten is just adorable inthat outfit, Jeanne! I love all of it, she always brings out the best in your sewing skills, and you always make her such sweet little outfits! Love the stockings too, And yes, it would be a great idea to make some to sell in your Etsy shop!
Thank you for showing my dolls dressed for Halloween! They certainly lend a little fun in their costumes scattered around the house!
Oh, goodness, Kathie has such darling dolls, and those little dresses are adorable! Kathie, do you sew for them? All the colors blend together so well, and they almost look like real children! So cute!
Oh, that
Susette is certainly a first rate Grandma in my book! She finds the cutest things for her grandchildren! She is a master gardener too with those little scenes she puts together on her patio! She almost makes me want to move to California, with all those beautiful blooms! Love the little “spooks” she set up too !
While we had good weather in Branson, we were not able to eat at the Tearoom you told me about, although we did find it! We passed it up the first time we went down the street, but turned around and then found it. Wow, it is pretty big! However it wasn’t open when we got there at around 9:30, and we were heading home, since it was raining. Next time we go, we know where it is, and will eat there for sure!
Thank you to everyone who complimented on my dolls! It’s mostly done for all of you who I know appreciate seeing them!
HI Linda and welcome home! I hope you enjoyed yourself…sorry that the Tea Room was closed, but now you can go back sometime and enjoy a nice lunch and a delicious dessert to go with it!
Thank you for your sweet compliments on Kirsten’s dress set. She does seem to always get the pretty things, doesn’t she? Maybe it’s because it’s so fun to mix and match her fabrics for the outfits! I usually enjoy what I make for her. She does look quite pretty in this blue set, I agree!
I do believe you can hold your own when it comes to dressing and displaying your dolls, Linda… you do a fabulous job and it must make you feel wonderful to see them in a few spots in your house! Your hubby is very kind to let you have little set ups all around! Tell him I said hello and welcome home!
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
The pictures are wonderful — now what will you do to top this for Halloween?
If you sewed very quickly, you might have another dress ready to list. Then it would have to compete with Kirsten’s, and that would be a real challenge.
Or maybe someone could send more pictures. You could make a slideshow of your favorite fall dresses.
Have you considered a drawing for a Halloween themed tulle slip? No spiders on it please, though Susette had some beautiful spider pattered fabric.
We trust you. You’ll come up with something, like pictures of the food you’ll be taking to a Halloween party, complete with a recipe for something pumpkin. And/or pictures of Cindy’s latest Halloween decorating project. Whatever it is, we’ll love it.
Hi Marilyn,
If I sewed, it would have to be by hand… we are heading to Louisville KY for a getaway. I’m wondering if there are any fabric or doll shops in that area. I need to google it and see.
We’ll be back Saturday night…so it’s just a quickie, but it’s a getaway at least.
I did wonder about taking something in the car to do…but decided I’d just look out the windows at the colorful trees (hopefully) instead.
I’ll come up with something fun before the month is over…oh wait…it’s almost over now… maybe I won’t. I’ll do what I can…
We are having a Taste of America hayride get together on Sunday night. I will be helping with the caramel apples… we’ll also have apple cider making, s’mores, corn casserole, apple pie hobo’s, and a few more that I’ve forgotten. Oh…chili…
Well, I hate to run, but I need to get to bed…
Night Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
