Turning 50 isn’t so bad…

Oh, it’s not ME that’s turning 50…it’s two of my friends… I turned 50 years ago! Since my sister Deb is here visiting I didn’t get any sewing time or dolly time in so I thought I’d just show you a few pictures from the party we had for Leann and Chi Chi Saturday evening. I actually didn’t take any pictures except for some of the sunflowers but Sarah took these and forwarded them to me. I helped her decorate for the party using sunflowers and burlap! Sounds like a perfect combination, doesn’t it? It was! It looked pretty nice in the barn and even though it was simple it was perfect. The food was very good too! We had a potato bar and BBQ meat was on the other side… along with lots of other things… I’m sorry, I didn’t take a picture of my cookies… just imagine a container with almost 100 cookies stacked high.

Here are the birthday girls! Both of them just as sweet as can be!

Everyone just sat around and visited and ate and ate and ate!

Then we had cake!!

Well, that’s going to have to be it for today… I have my sister to attend to! AKA… shopping with Deb… or at least trying to solve all the things we always talk about… recipes, housecleaning schedules, dieting…you know…all the things you talk about with your best friend! :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Lynn,
We really did have a great time….I think there were around 75 there.
      Have a great day,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  1. What a fun party!! I love the idea of a potato bar–and barbecued meat! Yummy!!

I’m glad you had a chance to spend time with your friends–and it looks like they enjoyed it, too!

    1. HI Charlotte,
The more people you have around you the easier it is to welcome 50!!!
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Wow, those are some potatoes, Jeanne! Everything looks yummy and those two 50 year olds don’t loo a day over 40! I see that you also have leaves coming down on the party grounds! The party looked so friendly and fallish! Sunflowers and burlap were just perfect!
Have a good time with Deb!

    1. HI Linda,
The potatoes WERE really huge… I searched for the smallest one I could find.
The leaves are starting to fall around here….but we’ve had so much rain it’s a soggy mess.
      I AM having a great time tomorrow….she has to leave tomorrow….boo hoo…
So we’re making the most of today.
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. I enlarged the photo of the food line up and was trying to figure out what was on the bbq menu. Chicken? Tri-tip? The lovely young girl on the left who looks like Leann’s daughter? Has her plate filled to my liking. Dessert with dinner. Looks like cheesecake along with a baked potato. Yum.
How wonderful to have a party barn. Love the festive outdoor lighting too. Wonderful fall party.
Hope you get in tons of shopping time with sis. And if you get a spare moment, the latest Meadow doll has had a sneak preview. Could be trouble.

    1. HI Joy,
We had pulled pork with BBQ sauces, grilled chicken, BBQ chicken and of course hot dogs for the kiddos!
That young girl IS Leann’s daughter, Megan… she”s 13 and loves horses and anything western…
I think I may have seen the doll last night when I got home. I looked on the forum and someone showed a picture of a doll asking if it was a Meadow doll…somebody replied yes it was and she’d be coming soon.
      She looked sweet.
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Oh my, that picture is making me hungry. It all looks so good! Glad you get together with friends—it looks like a fun time.

  5. What a feast. Everything looks wonderful and everyone one looks friendly and happy. Once they saw the food and decorations, and once they smelled the food, everyone should have been happy. I’m glad for your good times and for the pictures and memories.

    1. HI Marilyn,
It really was a feast and there was plenty of food for everyone… and then some! :o)
There really isn’t anything quite like good friends is there? I am so blessed with ALL my friends… the ones I see everyday and the ones I “see” on here!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Hmm, so I am a day late again 🙁 I’m sorry. Did anyone else get this post a day late? Things were going so well there for about a week.
The party looked like great fun and all the food looks absolutely delicious.
Hope you have a great time visiting.
    Take care –

  7. I appear to be a day late on this one. Looks like you had a great party. And oh the food! Enjoy your visit with your sister.

  8. I’m late too! That birthday feast looks delish as someone we know would say!! The sunflowers were so pretty as an accent too. What a fun time everyone must have had! I love a large festive crowd. I’m looking forward to my nephew’s wedding in October. Going back home to get the “energy” from my siblings is much anticipated.

Your cookies must have been a hit as well. Your baking and cooking always looks so good and the pictures of the birthday food looks so yummy!!

  9. Jeanne, I love the outside lights, they make any party so welcoming and the potato bar I know was a big hit, with all the people you had visting, I was wondering do different young girls and their mother’s want to go in your sewing room and see your dolls and what you are working on and pick up things and moving your sewing around and how do you handle it, also do some of your friends or relatives that have young girls want you to make their child that same doll dress, but at a fraction of the cost that you sell it for, what do you say…..I am retired and sew America Girl Doll dresses for extra income, I don’t ask them for a fraction of their paycheck…..I have this to come up often….just wondering…..So glad you had a wonderful time at your party and spending and catching up with your sister, does she have the same love for dolls that you have…..when you were growing up did you both play dolls together, especially the Barbie dolls since they was so popular at the time when you were young…..Love reading your Doll Blog, each morning that’s the first thing I go too, it makes me feel that I am right in your sewing room with you, and seeing all the pretty things you are creating for that special doll, when you talk about you doll dresses you can actually see the wheels turning in your head as you make the garment….as you go to sleep are you able to turn off all those wheels in your head, are do ideas still whirl around in your head…….you are so creative….I was just wondering …..Jackie, in North Carolina.
