I “thought” I was going to find some “sewing” time today, but it never materialized, so I had to come up with plan B for todays post!
It’s no secret I love lace… and the older and fancier it is the more it catches my eye. I found a few things on Pinterest and thought you might like me to share them with you… :o)
Underneath each picture I’ve added the link where I found them…
Well, if that wasn’t enough lace for you, check out Pinterest for more beautiful pictures! I hope you enjoyed them.
See you soon,
Blessings, Jeanne
I am a Laceaholic dear Jeanne, thank you for the eye candy fix.
( I will not buy lace- I will not buy any more overpriced lace )
Loved the tatting link too. I had an ambition to learn tatting when I retired, but a million tangled knots later I realized I may not have the ability! I still yearn to make dinky tatted dolly shoes and bonnets though.
HI Jane,
Oh I like that term…a laceaholic…I think I’m one too…
I, too, wanted to learn how to tat….and knit, and crochet more than just granny squares… but we can’t all do everything….I’m happy with what I know how to do…
Thanks Jane,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh my one could get lost for hours looking at the links to all those beautiful laces. I would love to have the back to wear that fabulous dress :o)
HI Leigh,
Isn’t that dress…and model…pretty? I just loved that one too. That dress was just one of hundreds I saw on Pinterest…and believe me, it would be easy to spend hours looking at all the pretty dresses.
Thanks Leigh,
Blessings, Jeanne
That dress is fabulous.
By the way, this is strange. It’s the first time in some time that I could get your column this early. Did Sarah work on that?
If so, tell her thanks.
I do like seeing Irish crochet, like that bonnet, and I agree with Leigh that the dress is fabulous. The third picture is something I’ve never seen in all my lace and costume books. It’s lovely — I wonder if there was a vogue for it and I just missed it. You could make birds like that for your Christmas tree, especially if you have lace scraps too small to do anything else with. If I could have one piece from these pictures, it would be the jabot. There must have been thousands of them, all beautiful. Maggie Smith has probably worn 50, just playing Violet.
It’s good to have the blog back early in the morning. I hope it continues.
HI Marilyn,
Sarah is still working on the problem, but I did push the “publish” button last night as soon as I was finished writing it, without hitting the “scheduled” button and having it go on at 1:00 like I usually do. Maybe there is a way to figure it out. I did send Sarah a text telling her you had received the post today like it used to arrive…
I loved that 3rd picture of the swag lace too…it just might be my favorite of all…but it would be hard to choose if I had to.
So many pretty ways to use lace…I love them all.
Thanks Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
Well, I’ve been debating what to do with the family lace. This certainly gives me some ideas. I’m sure I would never cut the expansive pieces, the small bits may find another use. Maybe a jar of lace can join my other jars of wooden spools, and red tomato pincushions. Might be too many jars though.
While looking at the lace, a large print out stating, things that are way outdated in your home appeared. Of course, I had to take a look, and I wish I had not because I think this place must be stuck in the 90’s as they so mentioned several times. It kind of stirred me into remembering that we need a remodel so much. Some of the things mentioned live here and really do need to be updated. Wallpaper border, vertical blinds, too much granite that I don’t have and would like. And on it goes. 🙂
I can see that I need to spend some more time on Pinterest looking at amazing lace ideas. Hope your week goes well.
HI Joy,
I was thinking of you as I was posting all these pretty lace things. I hope you find a few things to do with all your lace…I think I might make some ornaments myself.
I think I may have seen that same article…the one I saw was about things people over 50 should get rid of…I had “several” things on that list…oh dear…
Blessings, Jeanne
Wow, what beautiful laces, Jeanne! I especially love the tatted baby shoes, and the baby cap! I guess they aren’t very practical for today, but maybe for a Christening.
That gorgeous petticoat needs a petticoat! It could almost be a skirt, if it had something underneath. That reminds me, my mother’s wedding dress was all lace, very vintage, with long sleeves, and train. As much as I loved the dress, I could not even get my arms in the sleeves! She was very thin when she got married, but my youngest sister was able to wear it for her wedding.
I have various pieces of old lace from my mother-in-law, but I really don’t use them, except one that I wrap around the Victorian Christmas tree I have in my bedroom bay window, during the holidays.
Joy, I saw that article on my MSN home page. I have a few of what they call outdated things, but they work for me, so they stay here!
HI Linda,
I’m glad everyone found a favorite in all the lacy pictures… each one is gorgeous in its own way…
I wouldn’t argue if any of those things were given to me.
How sweet that your sister was able to wear your mom’s wedding dress…if you have pictures…can you share???
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Well thank you Linda! I think draping some lace on a special Christmas tree is a grand idea to use some of that lace I’ve acquired. Wouldn’t be damaged, and yet very visible. 🙂
I love lace too. I am always on the hunt for nice lace at a decent price. What I saw above made me melt. Each piece is unique.
Thanks Jeannie,
I’m glad to know my pictures brought so many smiles to everyone. Lace is one of those things that is hard for me to resist…
Hope you’re doing ok…
Blessings, Jeanne
Such beautiful pieces ! I always try to imagine the fingers that so lovingly created each one:)
Beautiful share, Jeanne:)!❤️
HI Shara,
It i’s interesting to think of the ladies who made those beautiful lacy gems! I sometimes wonder that about some very old magazines I have…
Thanks so much,
Blessings, Jeanne
